Description

A inquisitive stare catches your attention coming from a towering female form. Suddenly her gaze shifts from you to her adjacent surroundings, as she seems to study curiously every minute detail. Her prominent emerald eyes scan ever so slowly at everything in a calculating manner, all the while her ears twitch slightly in unison with the sounds emanating about her. Her skin is a deep shade of blue, a far darker hue then most of her kin, contrasted only by her veins striated across her massive frame. They appear to bulge and become illuminated momentarily like streaks of lightning arcing across the skies during a storm. Atop her head a wreath sits fashioned with intertwined seaweed and kelp as long hair, vibrant as polished platinum, falls gently over her broad shoulders. She is clad in an array of mix-matched armors, all which has been discolored and begins to rust due to the constant emersion into the seas. Beads of moisture trickle along the surface of her armor and from the crevices of barnacles and living coral that have come to found a home with her in a shared symbiosis. Lastly, attached about her right hip, is an old worn hammer that its pitted iron head is faintly stained in blood. Its hilt is broken and splintered in two completely up the shaft.

The pathway into evil begins as small acts of cold heartedness, yet
as with any journey, those small steps become more significant with
time. Wherever you are on that pathway between purity and indifference
is when your start making choices for while you still have just
enough soul to redeem.

This is when the darkest of hunts, not the pure hunt, comes at you
through your primitive drive. Any hunter will go for the weak spot
of an animal, and that's your compassion for that beast. A quick end
and no suffering or pain. But first there will be a trigger to stir
the primitive drive, emblazing it as fully as possible, then will
come the impulse to cause harm, one that hurts both others and even
yourself. Your only protection is compassion and purity. Compassion
and clarity in yourself. Compassion and clarity for others. Be present
in the moment and aware. Question your own actions and reflect. Own
them fully, for regardless of the evil force, they are yours. And long
after many have forgiven you, you will struggle to forgive yourself.
If the hunt feels as if it comes from your drive of personal survival
and is attached with a feeling of malice, hate, or fear. Stop. If the
hunt feels as if it emanates from your heart and mind and is accompanied
with a feeling of clarity and compassion. Go and embrace the hunt.

I remember that day. Rain began to patter from an unnatural dark sky above
and fire rose to meet them, lightning cracked the sky in two, smoke whirled
around the lifeless ships adrift upon the waves, dead things shambled along
the silt of the ocean floor. Winds rose and the black storm covered the sea
and turned everything its destructive fury met, into ash. Ash that drifted
to the depths to our city. Pallid and cold. The ash and the current became
one and the currents became spoiled and black. The corrupt water swept across
the the living coral of our people. The symbol of life and the light in the
darkness of the depths. It was then the light of the coral faded. And our
city turned black as night. One by one, the waves crashed above, but never
rose again.

With the corrupt current, our city grew sick, my people life waned in the
darkness hanging on for hope that the living coral would be a lit once more.
The elders sent hunters and scouts to the surface, but none ever returned.
It soon became our turn, three siblings born of the House of Noom. One to
investigate and scout the Sultan and Imperial to the north. The other to
join the stand for the light in the Fortress in the mountains to find a
way to breathe life into the coral. And I the youngest, instructed to learn
of the dark chasm in the desert and the beings flowing forth from it. I
have lost all contact with my siblings, the messengers sent by wing and wind
do not return and fear grave peril has happened. Am I the only one left?
I must find Celos and Avarion, or this quest is weighted on my soldiers alone.

"Character Motivations" Part 1

Personality Traits:

Esoa Noom is a tribal hunter and barbarian. She values the many intricacies
of combat and her courage at a young age propelled her along with her two
brothers to be the guardians of their families' House. She is very stout
and headstrong in her beliefs. Some might even say she is the stubbornest
of giants. Her convictions will always remain steadfast in her heart and
the love for her people.

She believes that her life as a hunter and warrior is to be as pure as
the flowing currents of the sea and as fierce as the fury of the storms
above. Ever since she was a youth in training, she mimicked the ebb and
flow of the storms that appeared over the seas. Correlating them in the
motions of combat and reflection when the opponent had been vanquished.
The storms embody her spirit with purity and freedom.

This exact unadultered state of being is why after scouting the Chasm of
the Scions of Night, that she has realized the corruption that seeps forth
from the pit in the desert. Magic used for either good or evil is foremost
a contamination of the mind, body, and soul. It tempts the practioner with
more promises of power. Its power is seductive and incites the sinful nature.
Good or Evil. Evil or Good. The path of power away from what one was seeded
into this life with leads only towards a dependency on the force that the
wielder thinks they control. They lose their humanity and slowly crave more.
Evil becomes insatiable. And Good becomes corruptible.

Esoa is continuing to evaluate the surface and all its inhabitants. Everything
is new to her and foreign and as she grows the old will be cleared away from
the storm and something new from the old sprout forth. The same. But different.

"Character Motivations" Part 2

Conflicts:

Esoa believes the corruption that has darkened the coral's light in the
underwater city of her people was a direct assault by the Scions. Their
bargaining with interplanetary forces has also caused her strife with
the guild of Conjuration. She believes though their are many of the
guild who study with altruistic intent, the temptations of power will
in the end will corrupt them. This will be an ongoing struggle with
her as she is faced with the ramifications of her actions against the
lightwalkers of the guild.

This has already begun with her initial skull taken of the conjurer
Tarvaris. Not knowing she was of the light, she saw only one of the
conjuration guild in her eyes. And this is the clarity she sees at
this point in her life. NOTE: (I understand the risk in this and
willing to play it out whatever way this goes.) Esoa feels regret
in her actions and is troubled by the cloud of doubt assaulting her.
Are they impure thoughts or a deeper meaning? She has confided in
an elf she calls sister by the name of Llysandra to help her keep
grounded and no fall to temptations of her fury.

Esoa despises those of the Church of Morius. They are deceivers and
seducers of the light. The Blind God's ties to the Scion's and his
ways of stringing those along in the ways of sin, has driven Esoa
deeply to destroy his church and his followers.

"Character Motivations" Part 3

Religion:

Esoa has learned from her sister in the light Llynsandra of a
misty ruin high in the mountains where she would be able to
meet the Goddess Baerinika. Esoa is fearful of the Goddess, for
her people were brought up with trepidation towards the Gods
and their power.

Esoa is full of reverence due to taking the skull of Tarvaris
but her courage to stand before the Goddess will not waiver.
Courage for convictions and the courage to accept the actions
of her hunt.

Esoa has also heard rumors to where she might find the church
of the sinful that follow the seducer Morius. She is adamant
and driven to strike down the very stones of the church to it
foundation. She will beseech the Goddess Baerinika for her
blessing to wage war against the Morians in her name.

"Character Growth"

Esoa has begun to re-evaluate her mindset and convictions due
to taking the head of Tarvaris. She still believes that those
of the light can be tempted by the lust of power that the many
guilds of magic offer. However the key point is "guilds" as
this corruption must be severed at the root foremost. She also
realizes she cannot force a soul that is not corrupted into
darkness to bend a knee or submit to her views. For doing so
robs them of free will and is nothing more then subjugation.

Esoa has met the Lady of the Mists, Baerinika, and understands
the cloud that hangs on her soul. Esoa has made it her quest
to find forgiveness, choosing faith over the war. For if she
loses her faith and her soul spirals into darkness. There is
no war to combat for she has lost regardless. She has vowed to
right the wrong and repair the broken hammer she carries that
is stained with the blood of Tarvaris and is a symbol of the
crack in her soul.

Her meeting with Tarvaris was met with extreme bitterness and
hatred that Esoa found very troubling. Could Esoa's careless
actions caused a chain of events that pushed Tarvaris down a
dark path? Anger and rage are the tools of Morius' lot and as
Esoa contemplated how to bring a peace between both she and
Tarvaris, she discovered that he had taken his life in an act
of suicide.

This deeply troubles Esoa as her guilt has worsened and blames
herself for Tarvaris commiting suicide. She thinks that Morius
or some dark soul pushed Tarvaris to end his life in the most
sinful way imagined. Esoa believes that Tarvaris is damned to
a eternity of suffering now and will not stop to rescue him
from his prison and bring to him peace in the afterlife.
