Description
Draped in a long silk cloak, as black as pure night, this female
drow has the delicate and soft features of a true beauty. However
her long, sharp K-9 teeth and blazing purple eyes tell a different
tale. She stands just a touch under six feet tall, and her long
arms and legs flow from under her cloak with a grace bestowed only
on the elvish folk. Her eyes seem to be constantly trained on the
ground, and the cowl of her cloak constantly casting a shadow over
her face. Though bits and pieces slip through the shadows, and from
them you see sharp elvish features with long snow-white hair
bouncing inside her hood.
Role
A Damned Soul
Added Fri Nov 8 16:32:51 2013 at level 12:
My Masters. My Gods. I have awakened to a world that doesn't even
remember your names. I feel lost in this world. Though I have traveled
far and know the lands well, still I am lost. Great fortresses of
light in the north. Heralds laughing and fornicating in their inn,
as dogs in a pin. Laughter and singing. Love, art, wealth. Where?
Where are the cries in the dark. The fear... The horrible, wretched
fear. I remember it as if it were yesterday.
Burning eyes were the first thing I remember. There must have been
millions of them. Piercing me through the dark. They were the only
light I saw for the first century of my life. They saw me. They saw
ALL of me. My soul, my life, my essence. They showed me the darkness.
And within it, I swore to serve them. It was they who allowed me to
walk in this world. Or *that* world, as the case may be. For that
world was ruled by chaos, and cast in shadow.
The screams are what I remember most. They eco'd through the night
like sweet music. Sometimes you couldn't even tell where they were
comming from, there were so many. We, of the Ku'Ma'Deith, were the
chosen amongst mortals. Those who served the rightful gods of this
land. The gods who only knew chaos and darkness. In those times there
was pain. Such pain! Pain and darkness the likes of which these
gluttons could never imagine.
Retreat to Darkness
Added Fri Nov 8 16:49:33 2013 at level 12:
For years, I served them. The earth seethed with hatred and rage,
and I could hear their voices as clear as day. Whispers in the dark.
Or perhaps voices so loud they nearly shattered my eardrums, and fill
me with such fear. Yes, they are the rightful gods of these lands.
However, as I continued to serve them, something changed. A light had
suddenly emerged and threatened the gods I served so loyaly.
For nearly a decade, the people who were once so miserable and wrecked
with pain began to have hope. Hope, that miserable feeling. Try as
we might, we simply could not stamp it all out. It was like a disease.
And like all diseases, it spread. We fought back as we could. As the
heavens raged with war, and the earth cracked and bent, we fought.
Those of our order who were much stronger than I, were on the front
lines of the conflict. While myself and those of my ilk waited for
commands, as always. Though, none came.
I could still feel them... Their icy grip, their rough touch, their
piercing gaze. However, I heard nothing. It was the first time, that
when I begged for punishment, I got none. We were few. Maybe 500 or
so. We were no match for their armies. The world around us was changing.
The Old Gods were gone. The Gods of the Earth. The Gods who brought
chaos and black. We few were all that remained. Thus, we had no choice.
We each retreated beneath the earth. And we slept...
The Awakening
Added Fri Nov 8 17:01:46 2013 at level 12:
It started as no more than a scent in the air. It filled my nostrils
as I slept, far before I ever awoke. A scent unlike any other I had
smelled before. It called to me. And I awoke in the darkness. Far
beneath the earth, in a pit I had dug so long ago. I had no memories
at first, only fear. Somehow I knew to crawl from that tomb towards
fresh air.
As I emerged from the pit, it all came flooding back to me. From that
first breath of fresh air, I could tell the world I knew was gone.
As I looked up at the sun, I could tell that this world had aged longer
than I could imagine. The world reeked of the new gods' influence.
Pain and suffering replaced by music and laughter. It took me days of
laying in the same place to accept that fact. I considered crawling
back into my tomb. To simply continue sleeping. However, that scent
was still in the air. Something woke me for a reason. Thus, I stood
for the first time in literal Ages, and made my way through this new
world.
I walk in shadow, now. Skulking from place to place. I walk as silently
as a mouse. Never making my presance known. The questions I have are
many. What has awakened me? For what purpose have I awakened? How did
I survive so long down there without food or water? Where... Where
have they gone? What I do know, is that the old gods, or Pagan gods
as they are known now, are present when suffering and pain are also
present. And while I cannot hear them, I know they are still there.
Waiting and watching. Ever Watching... Burning eyes in the dark...
A Shadowed Path
Added Wed Mar 5 22:43:50 2014 at level 47:
The sands of time continue to flow, and within them I walk uncontrollably
towards my destiny. Many seasons have passed since I last put pen to page,
but that is but a whiff in the endless sea of time. That is our curse, we
mortals, to be but a bump in the infinity of time. But you, my Gods, my
lords, my truest loves! You have surpassed such weak limitations. Your power
and knowledge spans this entire universe we wretched souls inhabit. Grace
and beauty so divine, your very breath inspires the depths of my soul. I
feign strength, but in truth I crumble without you. It is a wretched feeling,
to be without your cold touch. Though, I fear eternity without you no more.
For as I have grown in power, so too has my understanding of the dark forces
of this world, and as I continue to travel far and wide the clues to your
silence begin to unravel the mystery.
"Learning the secrets of this world takes time and diligence, young scholar."
Words uttered to me so long ago, I'm not even sure the world remembers.
A member of my order, much higer than I, spoke those words to me when I was
but a low-ranking priest in what was an enormous army. I still utter some
of our old chants from time to time, though they get much less of a response
now. I took these words to heart when I awoke from the pit I dug so long
ago. It would take time and diligence, yes, and so I stuck to such a road.
Whether it be from library to library or grave to grave, I move slowly and
always in shadow. I have taken up the mantle of scholar, now. Researching
a path to unlock great forces of this world, and perhaps reach out to another.
Death is the path I have chosen. Not simply killing, but death itself. I
study it, amongst other things, and I have a deep love for it. Not the same
as my love for you, my lords, but a love that fills me with drive and
intrigue. The corpses I study, some I create and others I do not, show me
the depth of true despair. Their eyes hold the truest terror. The last
moments they cling to life. The realization that it's over, and the darkness
that descends upon them. The corpses' eyes remind me of your voice. That
same sickening feeling of despair is what I miss most. Not only my own, but
the despair of the entire world. In this path I have chosen, I have advanced
far in my guild. There are those of my ilk that have attained even greater
power, but I have yet to research such just yet. I still have much to finish.
I have also joined with a group of similarly focused individuals as well.
Seperatly, we each strive for our own version of an Eternal Night, but
together we form a force of wicked and black chaos that's effect can be
felt throughout this world. A small victory for our cause, yes, but there
is more to come. I've found great use in this group of individuals and their
own dark powers manifested by The Scepter. This power allows me to further
my role as scholar and prepare for this world's great future.
Flashback, to Times Lost
Added Thu Mar 6 23:54:58 2014 at level 47:
Leaving the darkness I was born to was somewhat more frightening then
you may imagine. Yes, terror was one of my first emotions in such a
dark place, but it was so simple then. I knew my dark masters were
all powerful and to fear them was my place. The dark is just as simple
as that, you see. Nothingness, for the vast majority of the time.
Unless they wished me to see something twisted and beautiful. A deep
despair unlike anything I've experienced since. I could not choose
another fate, I could not hope for a brighter future, I could not
dream... Thus, to be thrust out into the world was traumatic. I
suppose you could say it was my birth, or as close to a birth as
possible. I begged and pleaded with my masters to take me back. To
forever waste away within the black. But I was dismissed...
I was thrust out into the light of the world. I was lost, for a time.
I had only known fear, despair, and rage for so long. I did not
understand these new feelings the world had burdened me with. Thus,
I retreated to the safest place I could fine... A graveyard. Dead
men tell no tales, they say. To be more to the point, a dead man
tells nothing at all. Silence. A still only the dead can offer. It
was my first playground, school, nursery, and eatery. I even had my
first kiss there. I gave the corpses names and back-stories. I would
decorate them, and sometimes string them up from trees so I could
practice dancing with them. In those early days, they were the closest
contact I had with people. Which is somewhat ironic of course...
I remember retreating there once, after a particularly vicious beating
by one of the higher ranking of my order. I was so distraught, there
was actually a single tear falling from my left eye. I hadn't cried
in so long, it took me a moment to figure out I wasn't leaking some
unknown fluid. I felt rage at my own weakness, to allow such a
pitiful emotion to get the better of me, but then I saw Jasper. Jasper
was my favorite corpse. He was missing much of his jaw, which allowed
his bloody tongue to flop around. He was hysterical. Just seeing his
petrified face was enough to make me smile. That was the night I had
my first kiss... I'll go no further into that night...
There was something else I recall on one somber night, as I strolled
through the mounds of the dead. The wind was crisp that night, and
there was a chill in the air. A nearly full moon showed the lands
well that night. A low groan to the east was enough to force my eyes
towards its direction. Lumbering in the distance, I noticed a creature.
A creature not of the living. Stalking in between the mounds was
something I'd never seen before. Cold dead eyes peered back at me
from under rotted flesh. A creature devoid of thought and emotion. A creature
that had escaped the wretched trappings and lies of this world. I knew
fear that night, looking into those eyes. My fondest of memories...
The Shadowed Scholar
Added Sun Mar 9 01:12:52 2014 at level 47:
In my role as scholar, I've found myself slave to tome and scroll alike.
The seemingly endless libraries and bookshelves of this world summon me as
if by magic. I speak in somber terms, but in my heart, I know I could do
nothing else. I have become the shadowed scholar that my heart always knew
I would be. I have found few who truly understand my obsession with study
and research, and even fewer to do it over my area of study. Dark magic,
in all its various forms, is my truest passion. Never in my wildest dreams
could I have forseen craving something so much! It consumes me. If I had
to describe my current path, I could do so with just one word: Searching...
I search for something more... I suppose, in some way, we all do but my
more is a future that none see coming. Though, I've discussed my future
plans enough within these pages for now. No, now I must keep my eyes focused
on the present. In my dreams I see distant lands and dark creatures sturring
in deep places. They beckon to me... The magic of this world has changed
over the many millennia I slept. It has become... Stretched. Not necissarily
weaker, but different none-the-less. Perhaps it is due to this difference
that I am affected by this world's magic slightly differenly than others.
I've found that when I slay creatures or beings of dark magic, magic
similar to my own, I am able to absorb a very small amount of their power.
A seemingly insignificant amount of power to those who only crave strength,
but power enough to greatly further my scholarly efforts. Similarly, I have
found that when I use my powers granted by the Scepter of the Eternal Night
to dissolve items of dark magic, I also gain further insight into the magic
which created them. I've spoken to other members of the pit, always with
my truest intentions hidden, and while they recieve fortitude from the
spell, they do not feel the same dark energies I do, nor do they recieve
the same insights. Perhaps it is a gift left to me by my gods, who are all
but memory now. Regardless, I use this ability to further my research until
my ultimate goal is met.
My goal... To bring forth the black chaos that once ruled this world so
long ago. Beings of purest evil, fashioned of earth and terror. Yes, that
is a goal worth striving for. To bring misery and despair to all living
things. Not just death. No, death is too easy. Too simple for these meager
creatures. I deal with the dead, almost exclusively. Far too many times
have I seen looks of peace and serenity on the faces of the dead. Those
who died with 'honor' or those who die to protect others. Theirs is a
peaceful death, and such a thing is an abomination. No. These creatures
deserve true hopeless suffering... I will be the one to bring such. Through
my research and diligence, I will continue to increase my understanding
of the dark magic of this world, and in time I will channel that knowledge
into a way to corrupt the veil of magic...
