Description
A tall, olive-skinned human stands here. He is a dashing figure, clearly
of desert origin. He has dark, heavy features. Chocolate eyes peer out
from under black hair that curls and slicks with a sweaty, oily sheen.
His skin is bronzed, clearly having been out in the elements aside from
his obvious Arailian heritage. His visible body is lean and corded with
bands of muscle that ripple along as he moves. He is garbed in flashy,
gaudy adornments across his armor, although his armor still appears
functional. A large shield hangs easily in his grip in one hand, and a
collection of weapons adorn his belt.
He carries himself with a certain swagger and his demeanor is almost
swashbuckler-ish in nature. A wide smile, filled with large wide teeth
that contrast pleasantly against his dark skin, comes easily and often to
his face. He struts along his chosen path with a certain brevity and
lightness to his step, although it is clearly a fiery passion dances in
his brown eyes, and they peer about his surroundings with a cautious
inquisitiveness.
Role
Exlajin. Shield-Toting Orphan. Desert born, Deserter.
Added Wed Jul 6 18:07:11 2022 at level 1:
- Orphan off the street of Hamsah Mu'tazz.
- Paladins take him in and care for him.
- He becomes enrolled in the Paladin's guild.
- He reads stories in the Paladin's guild and the Hamsah Library about
legendary places.
- Becomes enamored with the life of the adventurer. Wants to explore
Thera's far reaches.
- Continues his paladin training. Studies as a defender so he can
effectively lead the charge into these dangerous places.
- Expelled from the Paladin's guild. The issue was the code and morality.
Exlajin cares about adventure. He cares about the thrill. The camaraderie
and commiseration that comes from success or failure. He doesn't care
about right or wrong in a good or evil sense. He thinks that adventure,
experience, exploration and the tale of it all supercedes these shallow
perceptions of right and wrong, law and order.
- Exlajin looked at his options. He clearly wasn't cut out for a paladin.
And for the exact same reasons he wasn't fit for the polarizing shaman's
guild. He did not wish to engage in zealous warfare. While the healer's
guild was obviously a worthy guild, it did not fit into Exlajin's plan
for himself as the one leading the charge into high adventure. Ultimately
Exlajin decided that a life of the cloth was not for him and he found
himself at the Warrior's guild, shield in tow.
- However, since Exlajin has some formal paladin defender training as is,
he operates a bit differently as a warrior.
- Always use a shield.
- Will not practice dual wield or any skills that require two weapons
(drum, flourintine, etc)
- Will specialize in maces and swords (defender paladin weapons)
- Will study Vanguard's Desire as a Macallan teaching.
- Second Macallan teaching TBD. One of Maelstrom/Whispers/Riddle.
- A 'large' personality. Will seek the Heralds. Considers this the best
environment for fostering camaraderie and adventure. To celebrate or
commiserate the last adventure and toast the next adventure, with a drink
in hand. (Will focus on telling stories + bartending)
- Will be exceptionally charitable in slow times, decorating the Inn with
armor from his adventures. To entice the next generation of adventurers,
to increase thoroughfare through the Inn and keep it a busy place for
adventurers to congregate, and as a nod to his paladin training,
something he has not forgotten.
- Will follow Joihe.
Tamazin, Joihe, and Scribery!
Added Sat Jul 9 15:47:10 2022 at level 29:
Exlajin has given himself the last name Eureka. He is an orphan, and he
doesn't have a last name from his parents. He chose this last name due to
the snap and flare it has.
Furthermore, he has met Joihe and Tamazin. Tamazin is an odd duck, in
Exlajin's eyes. He's clearly knowledgable and has a great understanding
of many things. But he confuses Exlajin. Exlajin has a certain brevity
with how he approaches the situation and feels as if Tamazin's quirkiness
is due to the rigors of Becoming.
As far as Joihe, Exlajin was enamored. Their meeting was short but she
was charismatic and an inspiration. The conversation with her and Tamazin
did shed some enlightenment on one thing to Exlajin though.
While he, before, had leaned toward bartending and tale-telling. As he
shared his story and chatted with them both. Talking about how libraries
were an inspiration for him growing up, and the importance of passing
stories on...Exlajin is now leaning toward becoming a Scribe, and
recording the tales so that they pass on from generation to generation.
But of course, he still must be accepted into the Heralds, first.
Exlajin - Scribe. Religion. Masters and more!
Added Fri Jul 15 13:31:36 2022 at level 51:
Exlajin had a long and windy road to becoming a scribe for the Heralds.
But that winding road meant that he was able to focus on a vision for his
writing. Exlajin intends to write in two distinct styles. One, will be a
narrative. A true 'tale' as it were, of exceptional adventures that he
has had. Artistic embellishment, sure, but a tale full of truth-spiration
all the same.
The other, will be a series of guides. Exlajin's Expeditious Experiences.
He wrote a trial for the Heralds that went over rather well, and he
already has a few more issues planned. He'd like to release them once a
week, but given the need for a bard and logistics coordinating, he plans
to start out with once every two weeks for now.
The idea for Exlajin's Expeditious Experiences came because, when he felt
aimless, and as if he wasn't making progress in his goals, Olar suddenly
came to from his slumber and spoke to Exlajin. The fact that Olar
actually took time to speak to him alone meant the world to Exlajin. Olar
basically made him feel that he wasn't aimless, and that he was going
somewhere in life. But beyond that, Olar had a few things of interest.
Olar told him about how Olar didn't trust Joihe. And that she had tried
to burglarize the Inn before. This really, really became off-putting to
Exlajin. Libraries are a focal point of Exlajin's past and history. He
became inspired by them and the tales they told. He wanted to be a Herald
as a result of them.
Joihe then, he met briefly, and she was so charming and charismatic. She
even planted the seed that would blossom into Exlajin passionately
pursuing being a scribe as the artistic outlet to channel his adventures.
But the Lyceum is the most sacred of all libraries, and to Exlajin,
burglarizing it does not bode well at all. It's not something he can
easily forgive or look past. Exlajin now is relieved that he did not
apply for the Cadre. He's considering turning his passion and his hope to
be an 'inspiration for the next generation' to Whiysdan. This hadn't
occurred before to him as an option, but upon seeing Whiysdan in the
Heavens and then meeting and being inducted by Whiysdan, he is feeling
more optimistic about this potential choice.
He still likes the Cadre and their collection of Aspiring Masters. He
greatly enjoys their shared sense of adventure and can see many
expeditions with them in the future. However, the attempted robbery of a
place Exlajin holds dear has cast shadows on his Joihe aspirations, and
the emergence of Whiysdan has Exlajin revisiting his faith and his stock
in faith.
Heraldry, Masters, Flightiness and Grand Expeditions!
Added Tue Jul 19 20:37:36 2022 at level 51:
Exlajin continues to live and take steps in life.
Firstly, he views the Inn as a home and the mantle of Herald is something
he takes very seriously. To this end, he is proud of how he helped
facilitate the Masters' Q&A event. He wasn't expecting to be facilitating
after Luvon coordinated the time and place of the event, but took upon
the job as Luvon took his life just before the event aired.
A good amount of discourse was had. And, while some feathers were
ruffled, it is safe to assume that such may be the case when one puts
rules and guidelines around an event. Overall, Exlajin was complimented a
number of times and that was what he hung his hat on, after all was said
and done.
He has his eye set on becoming High Herald. Exlajin thinks that this
position will lend itself to him being better able to achieve not just
his goals, but represent the Heralds and encourage the Inn as an
Adventurer's Hub even further. This was something he was toying with
before but as reaffirmed itself after the Masters' Q&A Event. Exlajin
believes that as High Herald he will not only be better suited to publish
his guides as a Scribe of the Eternal Star, but also that he will be able
to better rally Thera for his Grand Expeditions.
Which brings us to Exlajin's Grand Expeditions. Exlajin is busy writing
away for his Expeditious Experiences series, but beyond that he has
launched his Grand Expeditions. To this end, he has sent a note to all
the cabals in an attempt to get a feel for which factions would be
interested in taking on particularly daring expeditions. As of right now,
he is trying to organize both dragon-slaying ventures, as well as the
depths of Yzekon. He is still in the organizational phase, but looks
forward to the trips themselves. When it comes time to write about these
Grand Expeditions, out of respect for the allure and power for these
particular kind of areas (explore areas) he will write about them from a
tale, or fable perspective. Not from the perspective of a guide. To
preserve their mystique and appeal.
Finally, he has become known as the Flighty Legend of the Battlefield.
Exlajin does not love this reputation, but recognizes that he may have
irked Lady Joihe by withdrawing from the Cadre so suddenly. He can only
hope that his dedication to his passions of exploration, Heralds, and
living life will in time overshadow the perceived slight.
Exlajin's Grand Expedition and Global Gauntlet, and more
Added Sun Jul 31 01:01:44 2022 at level 51:
Exlajin is doing well in life and is still thoroughly enjoying every day.
He is nervous about the lack of a High Herald, and the lack of Rarywey or
Whiysdan's presence, but he knows that these things happen. He is
confident that in time he will connect with Whiysdan and have a grand
time exploring the faith of passion, luck-having and life-living.
His expeditions have been widely successful, and after a slow start he
was thrilled at the attendance earlier for his Tiamat hunting expedition-
even if they fell slightly short. He also adored bringing things from
deep within the bowels of Yzekon and the other Ancient Lairs as well as
the Shadow Plane out into Thera proper. However, as he sat in the Inn one
day he realized that he had a truly exorbitant amount of rare armor. All
for a warrior who never even learned how to dual wield.
So, he's decided to host an event to give away his armor. The hope is
that this event will inspire Therans to live life, as has always been
Exlajin's mission. He's crafted a series of contests for Therans, any who
have impressed the gods enough to be able to harm one another shall be
able to attend and complete this event. This is not a suicide note.
Exlajin is not taking his life. He's just looking to inspire Therans and
have an event that is truly one of a kind. Where else can you find
someone giving away strange bracers?
Past that, he plans to continue organizing expeditions. Tiamat, and then
turn his attention to finishing the beasts within Yzekon and other
far-off places such as the Octagonal Tower, Aran'gird, the Ruins of the
Dragon Tower and more. He also plans to continue to write his weekly
guides, which he has been lucky enough to successfully have a bard
publish each week.
To living life! Not merely existing in it.
