Description
Tall and very thin, this man stands here with a look of deep thought upon
his face. Silvery white hair is well-groomed and closely cropped just
above his ears, a resh razor-sharp part etched along the left side.
Prominently on display are the slightly pointed ears reminiscent of,
though far more subtle than, that of an Elf. The dark grayish-hued skin
of his face is clean-shaven and without blemish, while ghostly white eyes
stare intensely back out at the world. A practiced, emotionless smile is
fixed on his lips, as his eyes casually look down upon his surroundings,
the arrogant aura of superiority emanating from his every mannerism.

I am royalty. That is the truth, but you may not know it from my
appearance. You see, I am noble-born, placed by my birth far above the
peasants and lowlifes that infest Thera. I am greater than them by blood,
that is my right.
But you and I are the only two who know that fact now.
See, I am the son and rightful heir to a noble father. But despite his
royal blood, he was weak-willed and foolish. He was manipulated by a
Drow. He was seduced. Entranced. Taken advantage of as only a Dark-elf
mistress can. And once she was done with him. Once she had bled him dry
of his holdings and wealth, she discarded him. She left him ashamed and
quite eager to separate himself from all that reminded him over her
treachery and deceit.
So there I was, the biggest reminder of all. Born as a prop in her
seduction, an object in her scheme. And once it had run its course, my
use was expended. I was left an unwanted half-breed, born to a royal oaf
and a conniving seductress. Wanted by neither.
I was unceremoniously discarded in the dark of the night. Left in an
alleyway to fend for myself. Stripped of title and forgotten.
I was an orphan. No better than the beggars and brigands that walk the
streets at night. At least, that is what Thera thinks. But they are
wrong.
By birth, I am royalty, after all. That is my place. That is where I
belong. But it was stripped of me, and my birthright alone would not set
things right. I belong in a royal court, if not sitting upon the throne
myself. That is the fact of my life. But if the title inheretied by my
father does not put me where I belong, I must turn to the guile inherited
from my Dark-Elven mother.
Homeless

I lived on the streets of Seantryn Modan for a time. I learned to fend
for myself. To move from shadow to shadow, out of eyesight of guards and
citizens alike. First, I will admit, it was a habit gained out of
embarassment. But soon it became one of habit.
During these years, I learned to live on the streets. To steal what was
unguarded. To kill, before being killed. It is a hard life for some, but
it came easily to me. My father would not have lasted an hour, but my
mother would have flourished. And so did I.
A good life on the streets could be had, but it is not what I am meant
for. I deserve so much more. I am royalty, after all. I have witnessed
the power, the influence and the adoration that comes with such a
position. And I would not let my rightful place be forgotten.
I would never find my place in Seantryn Modan. It is too isolated. Too
restricted. But there were rumors of a greater power even than the Queen.
A more powerful ruler, with a Palace on the other side of the great
ocean.
It is not easy for a boy, a vagrant at that, to gain passage to Hamsah
Mu'tazz. Fortunately, I am more resourceful than the typical derelict. It
was easy enough to find a sailor with his guard down. Easier still to
slip the dagger into his kneck. And easiest of all to wear his clothes as
I boarded the ship. I would take more than an ocean to stand in the way
of what I deserve.
Aspirations
Added Wed Mar 22 13:09:32 2017 at level 11:
From Hamsah Mu'tazz, observant eyes can see many things. Giant warriors
with axes as large as a man are a common sight. Singers and priests, magi
and woodsmen pass through the city daily. Heroes of men, all of them. Or
so they call themselves.
But more impressive than any others, I have seen the Emperor. Men, women
and children cower and kneel before him. Great heroes limply bend their
knee to his greatness. He was not born to the Throne, no. He took it. He,
like each of the Emperor's before him, knew where they belonged, even if
the rest of Thera did not. They took what they had earned, through sheer
will and determination.
And that is what I must do. I must set things right. I must retake my
place in the upper echelons of society. The blood of my father makes it
my right, but the cunning of my mother will make it my reality.
I will prove my worth to their Empire. I will climb their ranks. I will
stand at the side of the Emperor, as we rule Thera. It is what I am meant
for, and what I deserve.
Imperial
Added Sat Apr 8 15:52:01 2017 at level 36:
I am a citizen of the Empire. It is an odd thing to say, and odder still
that I find a bit of pride in the fact.
I never cared much for the Empire.. before. They were just a stepping
stone. A means to an end. Sure, I respected the Emperor as one who took
what he wanted. But the Empire as a whole? Their goals of taking over
Thera, putting it all under one rule? It was a punch line to a poor joke
in my younger days.
But I see it now. It makes sense. The Empire provides Order where there
is none. It puts men and women in their place, where they can be of
value. Be that as an Oath serving the superior, or the Emperor himself.
All have their place. All know their place. Or will very quickly learn
it.
It is a good system. A system I look forward to spreading throughout
Thera.
And it is a system I am still navigating for myself.
I navigate the Shadow Sect now. There is no Shadow Lord. There is barely
a Shadow Sect, in truth. There are only two of us of note. No more. One
of us will become the next Shadow Lord. The other of us has pledged
loyalty to me. The Emperor has hinted at the likelihood.
Both have their own agendas. I trust neither of them. But I do not intend
to make it a competition. I intend to prove my worth to the Emperor, and
to take what is mine.
