Description

You see a dark, lithe figure standing here. He has shock white hair cascading down his shoulders. His skin is the color of darkest midnight, and his eyes has an intense dark yellow color. His elegant, slender fingers are adorned by several rings made of gold, and you also notice two words that has been tattoed into the back of his hand. You are however unable to discern the meaning of this dark-elven writing. He is dressed in black silk robes, that has been embroidered with thick golden thread. The pattern of the embroidery does not seem to hold any meaning beyond making the robes a work of art. By his waist, attached with a leather strap, hangs a weathered leatherbound book.

Role

Pain, Death and Chaos.

Added Thu Jul 30 21:24:28 2009 at level 51:
After having spoken to the Lady Queen Mergulla, Ezranil found himself
thinking of the past and the future. Especially what his main motivations,
chaos, death and pain meant to him. What he realized is that the aspect he
had lacked was chaos, or to be precise, the understanding of his view on
chaos. Pain eventually leads to death, and death breeds hatred and a wish for
revenge. Revenge, or justice as it is often called by morally sound
individuals, have the same result in the end. It leads to more death, which
leads to war. War is chaos, pain and death. Thus the circle is complete.

By dealing pain and eventual death, Ezranil is the cause of much grief and
hatred, and thus adds fuel the chaotic wars raging the lands of Thera. This
causes the world to lack the stability it would need to field a unified force
against the coming of the shadows.

Journal Entry:
I spoke briefly with Shadrist after the battle was finished, and he expressed
dispair at his allies lack of competence. I take this as a sign that he lost
hope in his allies abilities to carry out their fight, which is what the Dark
Lords first lesson was about. I am starting to understand his words fully
now, and I will seek the church once more with these revelations.

Attack upon the fortress gates.

Added Mon Jul 6 19:33:36 2009 at level 51:
With the sounds of the archmages fighting echoing in his head, Ezranil
trecked through the snowy path winding its way towards the massive fortress
of made of white stone. Of to the side of the path, a few meters up into the
snowy slopes of the surrounding mountain, Ezranil spotted a partially covered
corpse. Upon the corpse he could spot a cloak baring the insignia of a lower
ranked imperial slave of the blade sect. With a shrug Ezranil turned to the
north and started moving up the path leading to the gates, guarded by a huge
figure in deep gray armor.

The Tara'bal, guardian of the gates of the fortress, stood looking down at
the snow covered path. Tasked with protecting these gates by the sky lord
Shokai, he was given immortality and had since been standing vigilant
fighting those who try to break in. The Tara'bal spotted a robed figure
moving up the slope towards him, and recognized the figure as the scion he
had faught countless times before.

Ezranil approached the figure in grey that guarded the fortress gate, he knew
this battle would be easy as it had been many times before. But he also knew
that the four marans who faught the archmage would be close. He had felt the
archmage draw his last breath, as he was overcome by the marans assaulting in
force. Ezranil looked up onto the towering guardian before him, then with a
burst of speed launched towards it. Thrusting out a hand while uttering a
word of power causing the massive figure to jerk and slow its movements. The
battle was quickly finished, with the giant laying on the ground convulsing
in agony.

Sounds could be heard behind Ezranil, and with a quick whirl of his staff
deflected a charging lance wraught with thunder. Battle broke out at the
gates of the fortress, but Ezranil quickly found his target, the storm giant
Shadrist who appeared weakened by the earlier battle with the archmage. While
keeping the other three at bay with his staff, he focused on this giant, with
blows from his staff and bone crunching disrupts. The giant slumped to the
ground dead. Ezranil then retreated into the mountain beyond the fortress
gates, and with a word of power teleported himself away.

Journal, Entry 3

Added Sun Jun 28 21:08:12 2009 at level 44:
Upon reviewing this new information I have gained from Messervy, I wonder if
there is a connection between my research of the events in Maethien and this
blood of the god Saher. How the half-drow Kiendosi opened the portal that
remained permanently even through the day, has been troubling me since I
could come up with no feasable explanation. Not only did he have to create
the portal itself, but also blanket the area denying the sun itself. It is
possible that Kiendosi unlocked the secret of the blood ages ago, but took
the secrets with him to his grave as a massive nightwalker emerged and slew
him. The line of thought that I now explore, is something many former scions
have been working on, and being experts in this field I belive that atleast
some of it may hold truth. I will have to talk this over with Messervy, and
listen to his thoughts on my suspicions. Regardless, this is the only lead I
have at this moment and intend to follow it through. Leaving such important
research that has been passed from now deceased Scions half finished, would
be quite shortsighted.

Following is the most important part of the missive I recived from Messervy:

...should you seek to continue with the blood, within organia, the veil of
shadow is a tissue like portal. It is made of skin. Inside is the god Saher.
The very walls are covered with his veins, that continue to pump eternally as
he is forever. His blood is a power far beyond that of what is within the
vial. Should the blood work, this was to be my final solution, a continuous
source of blood and power to fuel the gate, where the Ccul'gra can flood
through into our world...

Journal, Entry 2

Ezranils Journal: Entry 2

I found another scroll pertaining to this event in Theran history, written by
a survivor who escaped the destruction of Maethien. It pertains to the events
that happened after Kiendosi was successfull in opening the gateway. One
passage is of special interest to me, It seems the weak Lenais wasnt without
power altogether.

"I ran from the cavern, and I remember seeing Lenais coming from his home. I
tried to warn him, but he didn't listen, he just told me to run. And I did. I
was nearly to the gates, the screams of all those I knew chasing me with the
roars of our elementals, when an explosion happened behind, knocking me to
the ground. When I looked back, I saw a sphere that covered the city in a
sheet of glittering azure light."

What I gather from this is that Lenais used some form of magic and created a
sphere around the whole of Maethien. It keeps the nightwalkers at bay inside
the ruins, and prevents the eternal night from spreading into the world at
large. This may be the second way to obtain what I wish, since the sphere is
magic it may be possible to unravel it and unleash what is inside upon the
world. Perhaps a deal can be struck with the shadow beings, so I may join
them in their torment of Thera. But with my current power and knowledge of
these beings, I cannot even begin to consider that they would accept my
proposal. I must gain access to the libraries of the chasm, and take part in
their research, since they are the ones who have compiled the most extensive
information about these things.

Journal, Entry 1

Ezranils Journal: Entry 1

In my travels I have encountered something that interests me a great deal. I
stumbled upon a journal written by a man, who I believe was called Lenais.
This wizard specialized in conjuration, was the first of his kind and is long
dead. His life was lost in an effort to initially contain the shadow beings
that now reside in the ruins of Maethien. One passage of this journal
interests me a great deal. It pertains to the man Kiendosi, who I belive is
one of the despised half-bloods.

"It was the first time I saw that creature. From the first sight of its
twisted form, the cold probing of its malevolent mind, I knew. He had called
to him the means of his own destruction. Our destruction. For many days he
kept the creature bound to him, prying everything he could from it. Oh how
the thing deceived him. That is the curse of the clever, to believe none able
to best them at their own tricks."

Kiendosi seems to have summoned one of the night creatures into our plane of
existance, and was fed the knowledge needed to open a permanent portal, or
gateway into the plane of shadows. It is no surprise that one of the impure
outcasts was tricked so easily, but that is of no matter. The essence of this
is that the half-drow gained knowledge on how to open a permanent gateway to
the shadow plane. If this knowledge is gained, it would go a long way towards
accomplishing my goal of gaining favour with the Ill Omen. Further research
must be done on this.

Early days and motivation.

Added Fri Jun 5 08:32:49 2009 at level 9:
As a child Ezranil was tortured both physically and mentally by his
father, this treatment lasted for over 60 years. Ever since he was
old enough to endure it, his father gave him the full focus of his
abilities as a torturer. Ezranil had long planed a way to escape
this treatment, and one night he grabbed the hammer that his father
used to crush his fingers one by one and swung it with all the force
he could muster to the back of his fathers head. When his father came
to, he was tied down to the table that for so long had been Ezranils
bed. The first thing is saw was his son standing above him, with a
rusten old saw in his hand and a mischievous grin on his face... Later
that night Ezranil saw the surface world for the first time, after a
long flight though the streets of Teth Azeleth, and later into the
winding caves of the underdark. As he fled Ezranil promised himself
that he would see his father again, and when that happened he would
be the one holding the power.

Ezranil knows that life is but a mere glimpse compared to the eternal
damnation that await wicked souls. Because of this he has decided to
use his life to attaint favour with those who hold power within hell.
The reasons for this wish lay in a burning desire for revenge, and a
deep rooted hate for his father. He wish to use this favour with the
Lord of Pain and Suffering, to gain an eternity of private play-sessions
with his father.
