Description

Faldeikso is slightly-built by fire giant standards, being only 9 feet in height and unexceptional in girth. He has the typical fire giant coloration of coal-dark skin and flaming red hair, which he wears short, neat, and combed in a side parting. His arms and legs are muscular but not bulky. His face is well-groomed and shaved, with no visible facial hair below his sideburns. His eyes are reddish-brown, and he has a nervous tic which makes his eyes seem to twitch constantly. A squarish, squashed nose sits between his heavy, sloping brow and pursed thin lips. For a fire giant, he does not seem particularly physically imposing at first glance. However, something about the way he moves gives one pause. His movements are not flashy, but they are quick and precise in a way more reminiscent of the more graceful races. That, coupled with his twitchy, alert gaze, indicates that this creature would not be easy to physically attack.

Role

Formative Years 1.

Added Tue Apr 18 20:53:03 2017 at level 29:
Oftol is a town that no longer exists, and Faldeikso grew up there. He was
the child of parents who worked as guards for the merchants of Oftol. Oftol
was a trading post located between Udgaard and Tir-Talath.

Oftol was home to many different intelligent species, such as giants,
humans, dwarves, elves, arials, and others. As is typical, the different
species did not mix, and their children went to separate, but equal,
schools. Only the religious or Lightwalker schools featured multi-racial
student populations, but Faldeikso did not attend these.

The living was good, because the trade brought wealth and prosperity to
the merchants and those in their employment. Faldeikso's parents were well-
paid and could afford him a life of privilege when he was young.

Faldeikso was born prematurely, which meant that he was significantly
smaller than his soldier parents. Fortunately, his parents' wealth meant
that he had the upper hand, since wealth buys the support of authority
figures in Oftol. He parlayed this advantage into a relatively enjoyable
childhood, bullying and dominating his peers.

He was also more devious and cunning than his fellow fire giant children,
which meant that he became the de facto leader of the gang. This he
enjoyed greatly, and to this day he strongly enjoys having dominion over
others.

Formative Years 2.

Added Tue Apr 18 20:54:47 2017 at level 29:
Faldeikso's idyllic childhood of petty bullying did not last. The
Nightreaver of the Outlanders of that time, Zsztyrr Reclusia, led a
campaign of disrupting trade in order to topple civilization. Oftol was one
of the first towns to be consistently raided and vandalized.

Within years, Oftol turned from a bustling trading post into a town under
siege, constantly fearful for the next assault from the Outlanders. They
increased the number of guards, but mere martial power did not hold up
against the Outlanders who brought divine forces through their shamans,
druids, and healers, to smite the town's guards and bolster the Outlanders'
soldiers and beasts. Each mighty prayer from these priests brought terror
to the defenders.

One fateful night, Faldeikso saw his father struck down by two frightful
demonfire prayers called by Zsztyrr. He does not like to dwell on that
moment, and considers it a weakness to grieve for his fallen father.

It was not long before it became impossible to hold onto Oftol, and
refugees poured out to Galadon, Udgaard, and Tir-Talath. Faldeikso and his
mother lost everything. They moved to Galadon, and when Faldeikso came of
age, he left to enter the Academy.

Being of a smaller physical stature, but possessing greater than normal
intelligence compared to his kind, Faldeikso naturally gravitated to the
Anti-Paladins.

Beliefs and Character.

Added Tue Apr 18 20:56:36 2017 at level 29:
Faldeikso hates Chaos and loves Order. He loves cities and enjoys the
prosperity and status that civilized life can bring. He hates the Outlanders
for what they did to him, and also for the damage he saw them inflict upon
a prosperous town.

Faldeikso enjoys having power over others. This ties into his orderly
nature, because part of what he likes about civilization is that there is a
chain of command. He intends to sit on top of any chain of command he is in.

Because the Outlanders used divine powers to such great effect against
Oftol, Faldeikso bears a strong dislike for the priestly powers, and even a
deep mistrust of the Gods themselves. He naturally fears them, knowing that
they are much more powerful than mortals, but he does not love or respect
them. He will enjoy slaying priests if he comes across enemy priests in his
travels.

As a normal fire giant, Faldeikso is evil and self-interested. However, he
is not particularly sadistic. He enjoys dominion, not causing pain for its
own sake.

Empire.

Added Wed Apr 26 08:46:19 2017 at level 40:
Taking the bloodoath, ironically, felt like a breath of freedom.
A natural talent, Faldeikso finds that Empire's meritocratic tendencies
are just as described: he can rise to power without reliance on higher
beings. A short time of service and he is already an Elite.

However, there is a whole Divine Sect that he feels is muddying the waters.
To his surprise, the Divine have preferential treatment that none of the
other Sects enjoy (for example they can promote and demote outside Sect).
Having despised priests in power threatens Faldeikso's sense of security
and he sets a goal for himself to undermine their influence as best he can.
This can only be done by placing himself up in the hierarchy as Dread Lord.

He has a path laid out before him by the Emperor: Gather fifty soul pieces
and be elevated to the coveted position. The challenge pleases him, as it
is issued by mortal man, and he would be proud to complete it.

He can rely on mortals, he can predict or control those he can't rely on.
He cannot control a God, and the only way he can deal with this is quiet
stoicism. Should he be confronted by a God about his ideas, he will seek
not the open defiance (at this point, anyway), but will point out that he
does want to further Imperial ideals, and waging conquest without borrowed
powers should ultimately make for stronger-spirited, more feared Empire.

40 76 An Immortal An Immortal added 800 exp for: Cool Imperial politics update. We're rising fast, but upset by Divine Sect's outsized influence, as we reject gods. We're gunning for Dread Lord so we can undermine the Divine -- we need 50 charges.
