Description

A short and rather frail young man draws your gaze. He has short brown hair, pushed back from his eyes and curling around his ears. He is no taller than 5 feet 9 inches and probably weighs around 150 pounds. He is clothed in light and colourful garments, not much different than the townfolk of Voralian City wear. He is young, no more than 25 and has an inquisitive face highlighted by thin lips and dark narrow eyes. He is noticeably skinny and has thin long arms, unbecoming of his short frame He walks with a light carefree step, almost elfin like save for gracefulness. When you look closer, you notice that...

Role

A simple life.

There is not much to know about Farathen.  He is a simple man.  He is relatively intelligent
and has the sensibilities of someone who grew up neither poor nor rich, with a solid supportive
family.  He has two brothers, and he is the youngest of the three.  The older brothers happened
to be bigger and stronger than Farathen, and are now competent guards, taking up positions
in their home of Voralian city.  Farathen, however, was born prematurely and is rather frail, even
for a human. And so, he grew up very envious of his stronger brothers, who excelled in the physicality
of life where he struggled.  And so, Farathen took to magic.  First learning of it from the
invoker guildmaster in Voralian city, he quickly took to the massive wealth of knowledge
at his tips and has begun to pursue it across Thera. 

He comes from a hard working family, who all believe in helping others less fortunate
and protecting the weak. They also have a firm believe that inaction is as serious a sin as
an evil act, if one is capable of doing so.  And so Farathen is filled with a desire to go out 
and make a difference in Thera with whatever knowledge he can accumulate, and intends to one day
take up arms with the Fortress which watched over his city as a youngster.

Maturing.

Once a self-deprecating, frail apprentice, Farathen has matured into a far more
competent man.  Now middle-aged, he feels he is in the prime of his life, and he is driven by 
the strong notion that now is the time to push the war to the brink and show no quarter to the wicked. 
He gets along well enough with his Leaders, Drohaem and Ageryn, but he feels far closer
to Ageryn than the Captain who he finds can be a bit pushy. He does know however that niceties 
must be put aside in wartime, and he has grown hardened with each battle.

Bitterness towards the Nexus.

Harbouring in Farathen is an internal struggle in understanding
how to deal with the Nexus.  They are not wicked, and his leaders have
made it clear that they are not our enemy, but how can we possibly
win the war while they still exist?
In particular, the dwarf Nghichngom has bugged Farathen more than all the others
combined. His combination of smugness and apparent disdain for the light has enraged
him as much as one of dark heart would. Because of it he has been diverted from his
true path of destroying the wicked, but yet he wonders if the nexuns demise
is nearly as essential in smiting evil.
