Description
A very pretty male elf stands here. His posture and mannerisms tell you
that he is acutely aware of his own prettiness. His clothing is finely
tailored and fits him precisely, accentuating the sleek lines of his
lithe build. His hands are finely manicured and have obviously seen very
little manual labor. His hair is perfectly coiffed, and on the rare
occasion that a hair goes astray, he is quick to put it back in place.
Looking more closely, you can see that...
Role
Maranation and Marshallhood

"Righto then," thinks Fobrin, as the Archon Lord bestows the honor of Maranation
upon him. "I daresay that means I'll have to shape up and act a bit more like a leader
now."
Now look where acting responsible has gotten him. Leadership! Leadership? He's no
Niheriva! Fobrin likes to flirt with the lasses, drink a bit of wine, and hunt the
dirty wastrels, swashing his buckle and buckling his swash!
Still, though...being Marshall means never having to follow any form of silly order
from someone who lacks Fobrin's exceptional intellect and supernatural (for an elf)
wisdom.
And it seems you can drink wine and canoodle a young lass, even while Marshall.
This might not be so bad after all...
Dreams or Nightmares?
Added Mon Sep 24 00:00:08 2007 at level 51:
A dapper elf strides confidently into your vision. His hands glow with elemental
magic, and his eyes seem fixed on a group of other people.
He hurls bolts of lightning, and balls of fire. He summons massive winds and
deluges them with water. They scatter before him like leaves in a strong breeze.
As you watch, however, the scattered foes flow and ebb like the shadows cast
by a willow tree on a windy day. They easily escape the magician, only to
whip back and strike at him. He drives them off again. And again. And yet
They keep coming.
The scene fades and you are left with a sense of profound frustration.
Entrance, and Outlander vs. Tribunal
Added Thu Sep 6 23:39:53 2007 at level 51:
Fobrin has managed to impress the Captain, at least enough to be allowed to
serve as a Squire within the Fortress of Light. Thus far his squireship has been
ignominious at best - several skirmishes with "wastrels", but no clear victories.
In the meantime, he has watched the "innocent" Harbinger help to murder one of his fellows,
and has himself been slain by the Vindicator. Fobrin has decided he doesn't care much
for either side of that particular conflict.
"Don't call me that."
Added Sat Sep 1 00:17:21 2007 at level 51:
Fobrin was lucky enough to travel with the Captain of the Maran, Niheriva.
Hopeful to impress the Captain, he did his best to be smart, lethal, and protective of
his fellows. Accomplishing this did seem to happen, but Fobrin fears he'll not join
the Fortress by the means of Niheriva soon - apparently the "old boy" doesn't
appreciate being called old. Or a boy, Fobrin is not sure which.
An Evening with the Cardinal
Added Tue Aug 28 20:41:06 2007 at level 45:
Fobrin spent a fair amount of time with Cardinal Soayel of the Fortress
discussing the various aspects of Maranhood and Acolytedom. Tea was sipped,
wine tippled, bows exchanged, and so forth. After a long discussion, Fobrin
began to see that his ways were more fitting to offer his services to the
Fortress of Light as a squire, rather than a scribe.
"Right then. Now to find that Captain and jaw his ear off. Eh? Wot?"
Souls
Added Mon Aug 20 23:45:16 2007 at level 38:
What is good? Evil? Neutral?
While these questions are definitely debatable by many (the Imperial soldier
will often attempt to claim that his oppression brings Order which is for the
"common good", for instance. Delusional, yes, but a debate, nonetheless.),
few would debate that to be good, or evil, or even neutral, one must have
a soul. A fish on the water is not evil, nor inherently good, or even
"neutral"...it is a fish. A constructed golem is much the same. To do combat
with these creatures is not an evil act, nor an inherently good one. It is
merely something one does when circumstances merit it.
This viewpoint is unlikely to be popular with Outlanders (for instance) and
some others, as they likely would argue that a fish has some form of a soul.
What this means to Fobrin is a somewhat callous approach to woodland and aquatic creatures
as compared to some of his cousins. He does not see it as such, but it
is a flaw that may land him into a bit of trouble one day.
Background, mannerisms, etc.
Added Fri Aug 10 21:17:37 2007 at level 8:
Fobrin hails from an elven land in the east, beyond the normally traveled
lands. he set out for the main Theran continent when he was a very young elf.
He's an adventuresome sort (which is why he set out from his fairly boring
homeland), and generally good natured and friendly.
Fobrin speaks with a "British" accent and mannerisms. He's a quite a proper
gentleman, though he tends to have a rather dry ribald sense of humor
(he'll often see a euphemism where one wasn't intended). A bit of a
tippler, he enjoys the fruit of the vine, but always makes certain
to avoid any alcohol in his system causing harm to anyone (other than his
own liver, naturally).
On an OOC note, the character's mannerisms would most closely resemble
John Steed, the male character from "The Avengers."
If I can find a bowler hat and an umbrella for him, odds are he'll be wearing them.
