Description

He stands just shy of six feet in height and is of an average build - not overly fat, but not a skinny pole either. Maturity has not changed him so much - the torso is lean and muscled. His forearms are sinewy but strong, showing a certain aptitude for situations demanding deftness and agility. Weapons of his trade placed strategically about his figure. Perhaps the most noticable feature is his face. The corners of his eyes show the hints of crows-feet, but they in no way diminish the smoldering anger that blazes within them. The mouth is set in a near-permanent scowl. The dark skin of his face provides a perfect backdrop his warpaint: a crimson eagle stretching from ear to ear, the head proudly centered on his forehead. Like a bolt of lightning, a white scar runs from the corner of his left eye across the lip, ending in the middle of the chin. On the back of his left hand, he proudly bears the mark of his God.

Role

Leader

Added Fri Nov 30 18:04:33 2007 at level 51:
The Ancients have selected Folsa as Harbinger since Linaeren has ascended to
Asgaard. These are big shoes to fill. He was more of a teacher than I have
been. And quite frankly, he took defeat a lot better than I do. As
Harbinger, the eyes of many are upon me like never before. Every success has
the potential to turn the tide for our cause. Every defeat has the potential
to turn it away. And every decision: whether to engage or flee, whether to
defend or hide, whether to induct or turn away... will be scruitinized by
all.

This is my biggest challenge yet. I know it won't be a field of daisies, but
that's not what I signed up for anyway.

Tattoo

Added Thu Nov 1 15:06:01 2007 at level 51:
After an especially hard (and embarrassing) loss to the Blood Tribunal
Executioner, all of my gear was lost. Folsa showed some regret, but the
player's fuming anger was not allowed to show through. Folsa handled the
manner calmly - the loss of gear is a hardship, but not an insurmountable
one. I think that this, more than the recognition given by an observing IMM,
shows the personal success of the character.

Later in the evening while regathering clothing with the Sunwarden, I was
marked with the Crimson Eagle. The mark is not in the way Folsa had expected
- the "purity" of the Crimson Eagle is tainted. Instead, he is marked with
the Crimson Eagle's Gaping Maw. The ways of the Gods are beyond the
comprehension of any mortal. Folsa's theory is that the Great Trickster is
not so willing to give up one He considers His own to another deity. Folsa
thinks that Vassagon would disapprove of the Imp's meddling, but does not
have the power from the spheres as He once did.

This is an idle thought to be dwelled upon only while at rest. Folsa has
been recognized by the Ancients, and that pleases him. He has a mark, but
the war continues.

The Crimson Star

Added Mon Oct 8 14:24:27 2007 at level 51:
Today I saw a crimson star twinkle overhead as I issued my challenge to yet
another faceless Imperial Blade. For a second it outshined even the midday
sun. A hopeful sign of Vassagon's return? I can dream better knowing he is
glorified not only by the blood, but also in the manner in which I spill it.

Getting older

Added Wed Oct 3 19:15:20 2007 at level 47:
Hero range is a lot tougher than being in the 30s. I suffered a good string
of failures, then I realized how important it was to prep. Doing a bit
better now. The best part about this character are the cool interactions
with enemies. In death, I've taken almost nothing from my enemies. When I
die, that favor has been reciprocated. Roleplay has been great with Xietio,
Irelea and Savarnic.

At this point in life, Folsa is starting to separate the war he is fighting
from the individual battles. Like a soldier rising through the ranks, he has
more responsibility than just doing what he is told. I am trying to let him
see more of the big picture view of Outlander goals. It's hard for both of
us, since I'm still not all that sure what the hell I am doing other than
trying to "bring back" Thar-Eris. So far, Folsa knows he is supposed to kill
the enemy. I am hoping that this ongoing quest for Ancient Instincts will
help us to better determine the cabal goals. Folsa can then play a larger
role in the cabal.

Would I like Vassagon's tattoo? Absolutely. I think it goes a long way
beyond killing a bunch of people though. Maybe some more notes are in order.
If an IMM wouldn't mind giving some suggestions as to how to improve, that
would be cool. If not, I'm still enjoying the character regardless.

intro

Added Tue Aug 21 17:55:07 2007 at level 22:
Ok, sphere combat Vassagon follower. Yes, I know the God is dead but I
really like the religion even if I am not the warrior player that can pull it
off.

Folsa's war is one against civilization. His chaotic nature gives him the
freedom to pick and choose his battles when and wherever they most benefit
him. One of the traits against his chaotic alignment is his tendency to
compartimentalize everything into individual engagements. This often causes
him to lose sight of the big picture. For example, each fight is a battle.
Winning more battles than losing means winning the war.

In his pursuit of these individual battles, Folsa tries to be polite and
courteous to his foes. Antagonizing enemies can serve a tactical purpose but
is generally avoided. Defeats are taken with stoicism or resignation, but
never anger. Not one for appearances, he is not ashamed of his ugliness. A
true warrior wears his scars and his paint with pride.
