Description
What you see is very definitely a felar, a sinewy and spry looking
individual at that. His thick fur is gray in its base color and laced
with uniform tiger-like black stripes, looking neatly groomed and
cared for. The same goes for his gear: he's wearing mostly light armor
and loose clothing, although nondescript in style and color it all
looks neat and tidy, suggesting he takes a certain pride in his
appearance. A mane of black hangs down to his shoulders and below,
tied on a ponytail and held back with a bandana similar in color to
his eyes, a bright blue. Either as an interesting fashion statement or
maybe some kind of a tribal insignia, they're lined with faint indigo
dye, much the same hue his claws - and his lips - have been painted.
His tail constantly weaves from side to side behind him and his paws
flex restlessly, itching to be put to use. It looks like he was ready
to pounce at a moment's notice.

The source of Pride

Frionil is the son of a leatherworker from Hamsah Mu'tazz. He never
knew his mother who died when he was very young, under unclear
circumstances; his father Jredah wasn't very forthcoming with details.
The same circumstances left him with permanent injury, to the point of
being frail and incapable of straining physical labor, which is why
Frionil grew up helping him the best he could, leaving little time for
play. He is the only child.
Eventually his father's condition worsened to the point that death
seemed imminent, and there was nothing healers could do to help. There
was one suggestion that wouldn't cure him but instead give him a few
more years to live: magical potions that would fortify his body and
give him strength. And even on his death bed, he adamantly refused.
This is what really lit the spark in Frionil. He knew Jredah didn't
like to trade with mages and he had told him stories of their peoples'
grim past, but hadn't ever thought so deeply into what that meant.
Now, faced with death, a meek, frail man that would've probably lost
in a fistfight with a gnome wizard showed such unyielding pride and
strength; he'd never give up the freedom from magic so much blood had
been shed for. He had pride in what he had been given no matter how
short-lived and filled with pain, instead of desperately grasping for
straws.
Jredah passed away, and Frionil was left on his own. He was barely 15.
He knew the basics of making leather goods, but he didn't feel like he
could sit down after witnessing his father's decision. He was free,
strong and young. Jredah may not have been fit to fight for his
beliefs with claw and tooth, but Frionil could be... but it would take
training. He could've just let the animalistic passion and rage take
over, but that would not show pride in what the felar had over the
beasts they had once been... his wits. He knew exactly what would he
needed to achieve a perfect balance between the two sides, and in turn
make him only more capable.
Capable of what?
Excising the cancer that is magic, of course. Magic is for those
without pride and strength of character, the easy way for weaklings
who'd rather tamper with a force that can lead only to tragedy than
make use of their real potential, no matter how limited.
A few additional tidbits!

Frionil doesn't particularly care about clerics, as from his point of
view they actually have to work for what they have nor are they in
danger of becoming drunk on power; the power isn't really theirs in
the first place, and who was he to judge the decisions of gods? Gods,
in fact, quite frighten him, even if many other things don't.
Magic users of course disgust him in general, but nothing does so more
than felar mages. He views them as betrayers, willess maggots that
eagerly go along some nefarious mages' scheme to once again crush the
spirit of the felar and make them into slaves.
Although his goals are fairly focused on getting some kind of
vindication for the injustices towards his people, he's not of a very
strong moral character (obviously, else he wouldn't be evil) and
wouldn't think twice about causing "collateral damage", theft or a
number of other Bad Things to achieve this vindication.
He also doesn't believe in any kind of "redemption", there is little
point in discussing philosophy with mages since they're already too far
gone. Better just to stab them in the face so they won't spread their
insane ideas to people who might be susceptible, he of course isn't.
He's got a vain streak to him, why shouldn't he look good when ripping
someone's lungs out?
Contemplations

Ah, good times. In the passing years, he had earned some measure of
respect from the Battleragers and granted entrance among them. These
were people he could feel honored to associate himself with, although
the unfortunate truth was that they really tended to be.... well.
Smelly barbarians. It was a minor offense to his sensibilities, after
all, but it was sometimes hard to understand how people so proud in
their skills wouldn't put just a bit of pride in their other qualities,
polish that armor a little, maybe take a bath more than once a year,
and so on? And so far not a single comely lass to charm... wrong place
to look for that, probably, which was a pity since it would've helped
assert his manliness. Sometimes people got the wrong idea just because
he liked to look pretty... uh, handsome, that is. Yes, handsome, what
a slip of thought, ha ha!
Anyway. He had trained as a defender among the barbarians, though not
out of a good heart or compassion. Sure, he lended a paw to these
people if it was necessary since they were his comrades in a righteous
war, but the foremost inspiration for that choice had been the fact
that it was, initially, the last thing he would consider. He had been
so tempted by the ways of a berserker, mastering the crazed fury to
balance his stealth and cunning... but he already had enough fury in
his blood, from his heritage. He could've made a fine scout... but he
was already, that is what his comrades had commended him for. Training
as a defender was just what he needed to round of his skills, a
balance for the sneaking and tearing. Just like mentioned before...
why take pride in one thing, when with little effort one could polish
other qualities to a shine too?
Well, enough daydreaming while tending to... cosmetic business. He
eyed over his claws, a new layer of blue paint glistening on them,
blowing over them lightly to help them dry. Maybe he should mix up
some kind of a poisonous paint, actually, that'd be an even worse
surprise for those wizards who get his claws in their face...
