Description

A ludicrously small greystone hued humanoid is here before you. His size and coloration are obviously svirfneblin, but even most members of that race would tower over this individual. As if his sheer diminutiveness wasn't comical enough, his entire frame, and all the features of his face appear as if they have been pummeled with chunks of stone. His left arm is shorter and more heavily muscled than his right, which is grotesquely curved between shoulder and elbow. His spine twists unnaturally, almost making him appear to have a humpback. His stomach protrudes lewdly from his trunk, but it obviously is composed of muscle rather than fat. His legs are shorter than his already shrunken frame would suggest, giving his gait a scuttling, rodentlike quality. His right eye is slanted, and substantially smaller than his left, while his nose looks more like a twisted lump of clay than any sort of normal olfactory organ. His mouth is a rude little pit, and when he parts his dark grey lips you can see that his teeth splay about in a multitude of directions within his mouth. His neck is so short and broad that his bulbous, misshapen head seems to spring from his muscular shoulders directly. As if this all wasn't disturbing enough, one gets the distinct impression that his form is not set... His features seem to be constantly shifting and changing, his face contorting into new palettes of ugliness and his spine whipping into different configurations according to the whim of some meddling imp.

Role

Debt to Baldar the Paladin.

Added Mon Mar 8 10:22:07 2004 at level 33:
Frumpledunk is twice indebted to the Paladin Baldar.
Once for attacking him accidently on the eastern road while he hunted an antipaladin.
And once for Baldar helping Frumpledunk attack the empire when they had the Head.
Frumpledunk takes these debts seriously, as he knows of Jinrohs standard of Honor,
And due to his admiration, jeleousy, and respect for Jinroh, wants to uphold similar standards.
Currently, second to his loyalty to the village and his mission to slay mages,
His debt to Baldar trumps other concerns.

Background

Added Tue Jan 27 16:06:52 2004 at level 11:
Frumpledunk has no idea who his parents were, what his real name is, how he
left the underdark nor how he came into the service of the traveling carny in
which he spent his entire childhood and early adolescence. He does know
however that before he was assigned to the knife throwing act, his bones were
set and his skin was normal, his arms did not sometimes grow or shrink, and
his spine was straight. He was not a to other gnomish folk as a midget is to
humans. He had originally been assigned to cleaning and other manual tasks
among the carny, but eventually he was assigned to Thuelzin, the transmuter
and knifethrowers act. Thuelzin would put Frumpledunk in the center of one
of the rings, and hurl a knife at his head, then unleash a spell of reduction
on the poor little svirf, making the knife miss by a heairsbreadth, or hurl a
knife a Frumpledrunks stomach, and then cast a spell of enlargement on him,
making the knife pass between his legs. The climax of the act was when they
would bring a large rat into the ring, Thuelzin would reduce Frumpledunk and
enlarge the rat, and they would be made to fight. At this point they would be
nearly of a size, but being a tough little bugger Frumpledunk would prevail.
Needless to say, this was not an enjoyable life, but it did have a finite
longevity. The constant strain on frumpledunks system eventually took its
toll, and he was permanently shrunken and twisted. However, the affect of
constant transmutation on his system, coupled with the innate svirfneblin
resistance to magic and constitution meant put his body into a constant state
of flux. Little things are constantly shifting in his body, not enough to
incapacitate him, but enough to cause disconcerting shifts in appearance and
inconveniences to the little svirf.

My sphere

Added Mon Feb 9 19:42:18 2004 at level 24:
Frump is no coward, but he has great fears in his life. Fear of mages, fear
of rats, fear of failure, fear of people thinking he's useless because of his
height and deformity. Fear makes him angry, and that makes him react
violently, so for frumpledunk his rage comes from his fears. He is quiet
about his fears, but can be drawn out. He knows this relationship in his
personality, and is embarrassed about it, but also recognizes that it is a
strength in some ways.

education and reading and writing

Added Tue Feb 10 17:00:13 2004 at level 25:
Frumpledunk obviously never had an education, so he can't read or write.
Because of this he needs to use an intermediary for all things that involve
the written word. This is why his note to the village was penned by Ajaol,
and why he knows little of village history, and is endevouring so hard to
learn about it via spoken word. He desperatly wants to learn how to, because
he see's it as a way to distance himself from his past.

Pledged by Jinroh to enter the village.

Added Wed Feb 11 05:02:02 2004 at level 25:
Frumpledunk was taken as the pledge of Jinroh, the drillmaster of the
battleragers. For Frumpledunk this is a great honor, not just because of the
position that Jinroh holds, but also because of Jinrohs obvious wisdom and
learning. Frumpledunk knows that he will not fail Jinroh by being a coward or
such, but worries that his combat prowess will not live up to the standards
of the hardened warrior.
