Role
Background
Added Wed Oct 26 16:56:32 2022 at level 1:
Gabooca Bab'Abagha was born to royalty in Arial City. Always enjoyed running
away and exploring around the mountains by herself, naive to the dangers about,
as was her chaotic nature. One day she discovered a cave far below the city,
upon entering she quickly captured by troglodytes. They kept her in a cage and
fed her mushrooms, forcing her to dance and sing for them. She can not stand
the smell or taste of any type of fungi. She lived there for several years.
One day she was rescued by a Fortress exploring party, discovered her parents
died searching for her. She felt great shame but also disgust with the evil in
the world. Her rescuers took her to an orphanage in a far away land, where
she was taught the ways of goodness. She met a shapeshifting teacher that
taught her the basics of the art. She had a knack for it, and enjoyed it
thoroughly. That choice was easy.
The next choice to make was what she would do with her life. She had the path
of spreading goodness, singing, preaching, or spreading death to darkness through
her art. She did not want any young ones spirit to be broken like hers. She
chose the latter, that would be her way of defending and spreading the light.
She learned of the Goddess Rarywey and the mantra, I am glad to live. This gave
her comfort in knowing she was going through the cycle as all creatures do, and
her path was both more and less difficult than others. She wanted to make it
less difficult for at least one. She understood Death could have been her end
if not for the pure that rescued her. She would be that purity, dealing Death
to purify when needed. She seeks to be a Maran of the Fortress.
Growing Up
Added Sun Nov 6 22:27:35 2022 at level 48:
Gabooca is so happy to be alive. She often thinks back how close she was to
death when she was in her cage. Those thoughts keep driving her forward, she
can't let that happen to anyone, ever again. That is the past though, and now
she looks to the future. The Empire is strong, she struggled and failed to
keep the Codex from a single healer. She knew she must work to get stronger. To
her delight, Gralker offered to take her around. Gralker is a special lady in
the Fortress and together Gabooca learned the hummingbird. She loves that feeling
darting around in the air, shrinking so small, and the nectar is delectable. She
wishes she can feast on it all day. What a wonderful life to be living.
Meeting Wood-and-Bones
Added Sun Nov 6 22:28:45 2022 at level 48:
The Goddess Rarywey's shrine is a mystical, magical, wonderful place. It has
an altar under the water. Gabooca feels the burden on her body being there, and
her wings wilt with the weight of the water for hours, even days afterwards. But
it is worth it. She got to meet a drowned tree that came to life! Even though
her first thought was, 'how great it us we are under water so I don't have to
smell him,' she imagined he would smell like mushrooms and she absolutely hates
that smell.
How great an experience it was for Gabooca to learn about the afterlife. The
river and the eddies that will wash away her sins and soul, make her anew before
returning to Thera. These eddies don't know or care about actions in the current
queue role + life. They will purify the dark just as the light. This purification is both
something to look forward to, and embrace, for death is not the end. Although
the memories will be gone, the soul is refreshed anew.
The cycle is everything. This is a realization Gabooca did not have until speaking
to the tree. She thought it was limited to certain things, but no, it applies to
every, single, thing. Such a wonderful piece of knowledge to have. The tree gave
her a task, find out what purified souls think they would do in the next life.
What from this life, they would carry forth.
Asking Enemies What They Value
Added Fri Nov 11 20:53:27 2022 at level 51:
Gabooca hasn't yet slain many foes, but when she has, she has been following what
Wood-and-Bones asked of her. To find out what they would take to the next life,
after they have been purified clean. One of her foes, although she struggles
with besting him in combat, does not believe he will die forever. Instead he
will rise up and become a God. Gabooca did not consider that an option, but in
the conversations, she has deduced he will take nothing from this life to the
next. This seems to be a common theme with the darkness. Another she slew, while
standing over his body, said the same, 'Nothing.' How little the darkness values
life that they don't want to keep any part of it, just aimless floating souls
wandering, self serving, creating destruction for their own benefits. What an
odd way to live. It leaves no room for loving, cherishing, and enjoying every
minute of their life.
Gabooca also feels bad. Taking a life is, well, taking a life. And she would very
much rather go on an adventure! Or even just sit at the inn, have a drink, tell
jokes with a friend, lay in bed, anything other than death, and just enjoy life.
But she has a duty, she chose the hard life to be one of the squires, and
eventually a maran. She knows she chose the hard path, she struggles with it time
to time, sometimes focusing on studies, but soon she will be all studied up, and
have no excuse to not join the fray.
Of Meeting the Goddess Rarywey and Nurturing
Added Mon Nov 28 21:30:48 2022 at level 51:
Gabooca has advanced to her pinnacle, and met the Goddess Rarywey for the first
time. The Goddess was everything as pleasant, wise, and thoughtful as Gabooca had
queue role + hoped. She looked into the waters for Gabooca's future, and saw fortuitous
signs and many opportunities. This made Gabooca happy and brimming with life.
The Goddess gave a warning, though, that the many opportunities will only come
if Gabooca is one who nurtures. This is rather difficult for Gabooca, whenever
she has a momentary break in the war, she tries to do what she can, but in the
same token, she knows she must prepare for the next battle. Gabooca gets very
impatient very quickly, knowing her enemies are trained murderous, ravenous
soldiers. Her task is to try to be nurturing to them, also. Gabooca will
continue to do her best while at her worst, trying to be nurturing yet bloodied,
caring yet effective, swift yet understanding, and true in every sense of the
word.
Becoming a Maran and Some Doubt
Added Mon Nov 28 21:31:52 2022 at level 51:
The day finally came! Gabooca was flying around the skies of Thera, free as a
bird, looking for her enemies below and the Watcher rang out, "Gabooca, come
to the Altar, now." She's never flew so fast in her life! It's not about the
recognition for Gabooca, it's about service. She knows she can serve better in
the new role, and she has been. Gabooca knows there will be a struggle, and she
expressed some doubt to the Watcher. The one thing she wants to take with her,
her love of life, she hopes she can continue to maintain in this life.
Memories of the Last Yuletide with Her Family
Added Wed Dec 7 10:31:38 2022 at level 51:
Gabooca grew up a middle child, with an older brother and younger sister. Her
brother would get most of the attention, when her little sister wasn't doing
something so incredibly cute her parents melted. Gabooca would get her own
attention, usually in ways that either scared or horrified her parents. Her
last Yuletide was no different.
It was cold in the Udgaard mountains this time of year, and she decided to play
a prank on her brother and sister. This would prove disastrous and something
Gabooca still regrets.
Gabooca's sister, Valendra, was only 6 years old. She was cute, with high cheek
bones and light yellow beak. A single red feather hung from the middle of her
head, and she would always have to move it from her big eyes. She was the spitting
image of cute. Her brother, Bealit was 16, he was stern, and serious about his
studies, he was to take over their Royal family one day, afterall. There was one
thing Gabooca's parents always warned her and her siblings about, Orcs. "They
were vile, disgusting creatures," they'd say, "and some live just in the mountains
below, and they'll eat you!" Now, Gabooca, was never scared, she used to regularly
sneak out into the mountains, but her sister was terrified. This year, she would
bring the orc's to Valendra and Bealit.
They lived in a huge palace, where the three could all play in a different corner
and go unnoticed for hours. Gabooca had a brilliant idea, she would go down to
the mountains, collect piles of snow, bring it up to the house and build a scary
orc in her sibling's bedrooms that would drop on top of them when they laid down
to sleep. A harmless prank that would scare them so bad they'd be sure to give
Gabooca more attention, and she'd do it the night before the Yule, where everybody's
guard was down and they were all expecting gifts, cookies, and sweet nectar water.
Well, Gabooca pulled it off. She built orc replicas out of snow and covered
them with dirt to match the color. Hanging from the ceiling, the replicas were
almost identical to some orc paintings her parents had shown her. They definitely
scared the hell out of her sister, scared her so bad, she fell out of bed and
broke her wing in 3 places. Her brother didn't speak to her after that, it scared
him so bad he wet the bed. Unfortunately, a week later was when Gabooca was
kidnapped by the troglodytes. She doesn't know what happened to her siblings and
noone speaks of it, but she does know her parents died in the search. She wishes
that wasn't the last thing she did.
