Description

A tall, gaunt being with skin the color of a blood drained corpse is before you. Thin but muscular, he has strong arms with calloused, clawed hands. Long snow white straight hair frames his oval face. Eyes glistening like moonlight off of an icy pond, he has hollow cheeks and thin lips with a mouth full of fangs. He is dressed like a warrior in bespoke bits of arms with just a hint of a robe peeking from underneath.

Role

Background

Added Sat Apr 5 21:56:25 2025 at level 20:
Born the second son of a second son, my father is a rich and powerful merchant.
By family tradition, the first-born trains as a mage and the second son a
warrior. As a second son, my father was trained a warrior, became a caravan
guard until he earned enough to buy his own caravan until he built his fortune
as a merchant lord. He raised me to do the same. I grew up learning to master
sword an shield while my eldest brother trained an invoker.

But my brother died in an accident of elemental magic while studying and so I
became the eldest son. My father insisted that I stop my martial training and
join the mages guild. I chose the anti-paladin guild hall as at least they
still trained with weapons but my father refused and insisted that I train a
pure mage.

I could not defy my father, nor could I break with our family tradition, so I
chose to study necromancy. Partly out of spite, as I know he would have
preferred the invoker guild like my brother, but partly because if I could not
fight like a warrior at least I could command my undead legion too. This way I
would stand and fight with my legion at my side and not cower behind a book
like an arcane slave.

Why Empire

Added Tue Apr 22 05:26:29 2025 at level 42:
My father was a strict authoritarian. He reigned over our family with an iron
fist. He always said, as the emperor rules over his empire, so should a father
rule over his family. After all it was his dedication to order, and discipline
that made him his fortune as a merchant. His dedication to his training as a
warrior, helped him keep his fortune when others would have tried to take it. I
always admired that about him. It is why I wanted to follow in his footsteps in
the way of the warrior. But it was not to be. My brother's death made me the
eldest and by family tradition, I must take my place training to be a mage.

I still remember the argument with my father when he would not let me join the
anti-paladins guild. I knew he wanted me to be a proper mage as he saw it, but
I chose the guild of necromancers just to spite him. He had trained in whip and
sword in his youth. I never saw his whip flash until it was striking a hair
below my left eye and leaving a jagged gash all the way down to my jaw. The
pain was exquisite. I looked up at him with hate in my eyes, but he just
sneered as if to say, go on then, be a necromancer but you will never be an
anti-paladin or a warrior. It was the last time we talked, though I often rub
my scar in remembrance. He was magnificent, all a father should be. I left to
join the ranks of the empire that day. Seeking a place that would value my
darkest desires and ambitions. One that would not shy away at the deviant
tendencies I had picked up in the guildhall.

Why the Vampyre

Added Tue Apr 22 06:00:37 2025 at level 42:
I thought I could be happy fighting alongside my undead but it is not enough. I
wish to lead the battle from the front. I miss the thrill of combat as I was
born to do. I must become a vampire and let the blood of warriors flow through
my dead veins as I consume their life force and use if for my own.

I was born under the sphere of combat after all!

Ihmeria - I wish to chain her ghost to this mortal plane

Added Wed Apr 23 15:40:30 2025 at level 46:
As much as my own mother, Ihmeria has helped me become who I am meant to be.
She alone helped me rise through the ranks of my guild and the path to
ascension that I seek. If the Emperor is as a father to his citizens, Ihmeria
was like a mother to me.

But she is at the edge of her own mortal coil. I wish her to witness my
transformation and rise. May she stay alive long enough to bear witness to my
becoming and what shall come after. But after, I still do not wish to lose her.
If a vampyre is a master of the undead then I wish to chain her ghost to this
mortal plane and keep her by my side. I do not wish her to fade into
nothingness and yet if she does, I wish to reach my terrible clawed hand out to
pull her back from oblivion and keep her by my side for all eternity. Such is
my desire, my wish, my undying will to never let her go!

Panmorne - Meditations on Combat, War and Victory1

Added Wed Apr 23 19:06:42 2025 at level 46:
I find myself on the verge of final victory or ultimate defeat in my first
campaign. I approach the steps of my becoming. Everything I have fought so hard
for is coming into focus, this war of mine, the first of many I hope, is not
against a physical foe. No, no, instead, I stand on the verge of breaking the
bonds of time itself!

As befiting such a moment, I find myself contemplating my life to this point.
In my youth, I trained as a warrior and rejoiced in combat, blade against
blade. I fought my own father to learn the art of necromancy thinking that if I
could not be warrior with sword and whip then perhaps I could fight with my
undead legion at my side. I had thought to mummify myself and raise horrors
from the grave. But then I learned of the path of the vampyre and the potent
power of the blood. To wield sword and spell and regain the thrill of combat
that I enjoyed as a boy is what I desire most.

But to do so, I must break the wheel and conquer time. I come before you as a
veteran campaigner on the eve of his most important battle. All the pieces are
being set on the board. But I am looking for any last advantage before I roll
the dice for the final time. There is always an element of luck in every war. I
suspect you would agree. But what bit of guile, what last advantage may be
gained? I will beseech the gods and perform rites upon their altars. I have
desecrated corpses and drank of virgin blood. What more can I do to prepare my
mind and body? It has been too long since an active vampyre walked the halls of
the Palace and I will not let this end in a pile of dust as so many before me!

A vampire rising

Added Wed Apr 30 07:06:53 2025 at level 51:
I have done it! I have conquered time itself! Panmorne be Praised! All hail the
ever victorious, Lord of War! I have arisen and with it a hunger as deep as my
soul is dark. A hunger that now defines me. A hunger that I must now master as
it powers the transformation of my mind and body.

It was but an idle though on the eve of battle, an afterthought really, but I
did wonder what might my next war be? I had assumed that there would be a
respite between campaigns, but it was not to be. I rode from victory only to
meet the next enemy in battle on my very doorstep. The battle is to learn to
control the hunger, understand my nature, and master my abilities before my
enemies swarm to overcome me.

I can already feel new abilities, new reflexes, and yet also old ways of battle
from lessons of my youth coursing through me as the blood of my victims now
courses through my dead veins. I am but a young vampyre... if young is the
right word for one so dead. I must master my abilities, harness the power of
the blood.

The rush of power, the hunger for life, it is exhilarating! I pity the poor,
dead mummy for they have paid too high a price. Even with abstraction, they
will never know this joy!

Thoughts on the Sects

Added Thu May 1 08:21:31 2025 at level 51:
That the black is first in my heart goes without saying. We are the true power
behind the throne. However, the blades are a close second, for they are the
backbone of the army of darkness and hold the martial training of my youth that
I am now learning to apply as a Vampyre! A true warrior mage.

The divine talk too much and like to argue their stature. The priests of the
ledger want unbound oaths like collecting pennies out of the gutter. The
shadows are cowardly, knife fighters like gutter rats, not true men.
Especially, the thieves. It is constantly amusing to hear the latest young
thief of the sect think that he knows more of being a Vampyre than I. Barely
even worth a bite the little bastard be. They are not even disciplined enough
to work together during a raid to gain the emperor's items. Just pissing and
moaning about their status like mewling babies, only their eyes have value. If
they stop assisting with their sight they might as well be in the gutter with
the obnoxious over reaching divines. Even unbound by time as I am, with
eternity stretching out before me, they are not worth even a second of my time.

As a whole, only the black and blades are the worth keeping, along with our
singular citizen. Oh I must study just how to capture her soul. I lost my own
mother, I will not let it happen again!

Imperial Ambitions

Added Thu May 1 08:24:02 2025 at level 51:
My original plan was to climb the ranks to become emperor. I would have to out
maneuver that dancing clown of a dread lady though. Even though she acts like a
fool, I have no doubt she is skilled. Either that or let time work its will on
her till she becomes weak and feeble with age. Then, torment her mind for my
own pleasure and amusement until she can no longer remember her own name before
I allow her to die her final death. After, I would only need to secure the
position of Dreadlord, easy as there is not one black to rival me, and then
climb to the throne when the emperor dies, harder but within reach as time is
always on my side.

No doubt the empire would be different under my undead hand. The blacks and the
blades would have primacy. There would be a warrior's discipline and more
structure. Power, gold and blood would flow up, shite and the reward of a musty
grave would flow down. Perhaps we would finally break the orcs to the leash and
they could serve as my private pack of hounds. I wonder just how much of a
beating that would take? Certainly several generations, but what is time to one
undead? A better questions would be, how long would it take to beat the
cowardly shadows into shape and get the heads of the divine out of their
collective arses? Certainly less than it would take to leash a pack of orcs
into proper hounds? Judging by the fools I have seen so far, it would be closer
than you like!

Mother

Added Thu May 1 08:27:03 2025 at level 51:
My mother was as cold as my father was angry. Yet both were magnificent! It is
with a shame that I must admit, it was my scourge that caused my mother's
death. I was at home from the guildhall practicing on the animals around her
garden. She must have been exposed. She managed to fight off the worse so it
looked more like the flu than plague. She died a suffering death and my father
never knew it was all my fault.

But as Emperor is father, Ihmeria is like my mother. Cold, yet guiding. She
helped mold me into the vampyre I am today. It is why I insisted that she be
present at my becoming. Without her, I would not have gone until she could be
there.

But she is old, convinced she will die soon. I expect she exaggerates as part
of motivating or manipulating me. But still, it is what spawned the idea. I
wish to capture her soul and keep it with me as a bound undead spirit. My own
mother is gone. I killed her. But this one I can keep forever as my very own.
Whatever the dark rites. I must find a way!

Reflections of a Vampyre - Time

Added Wed May 28 05:01:18 2025 at level 51:
I am eternal. Time holds no meaning for me. As such, it disgusts me to see the
petty squabbling for transitory power from the living when in the end they will
be nothing more than withered flesh followed by rotting meat in a grave.

It does however give me a unique perspective that these bags of flesh and blood
could never achieve. I am now DreadLord, a position I achieved by making a deal
with an elite shadow. I know, a cowardly shadow but you use the tool you have
not the one you want. I have risen to the position of Lord of Dread, as I
always knew I would, and all it cost me was to support his rise to Shadow Lord
over the fool who currently holds the position.

But now, I ask myself why I should care about the throne. Let the dim-witted
Empress sit on it. Her ample bum will keep it warm as she is distracted by
power and I can achieve my other ambitions. Let this young shadow rise to it
after if he can. I will even support him if I can trade my support for his aid
in my research. That is all that truly matters. When you are eternal there is
only the long game.

Mother times two

Added Wed May 28 06:58:55 2025 at level 51:
In private I call her Mother. I have told her the story of why Skauzyn and
Ihmeria were with me at my becoming as Father and Mother. I hope the dimwit is
flattered by it. Never realizing the horror it means to be MY Mother! She is
but chum in the waters to distract the sharks so that I might learn more of
what it means to be a Vampyre and conduct my research into the undead.

Play the long game. Learn and Rise in Power. These flighty little bags of
rotting meat will come and go but I will remain. Another has already died, the
newly risen War Master rots next to the last. The only issue on that front for
me is training to restore my attributes since the becoming. I was never very
nimble, strong or beautiful and I took much punishment when I was initially
raised and learning to survive as a vampyre.
