Role
The Guild and the Spire

Galvinar always maintained that he did not seek adversity, that it just found
him, but as he prepared for the day he could pledge to the Spire, he found
himself wandering more and more if that was completely true. Most of those
he trained with sought to become Maran, and everything seemed so simple to
them, traveling only with those who believed exactly as they did, not resting
until anything that reeked of evil was extinguished from the land. But
Galvinar did not see things as being as simple as they did, at least that is
what he kept telling himself. It wasn?t just because he was spoiling for a
fight.
Galvinar was born in Loch Terradan, but had spent most of his life in Galadon
after his Father?s death. His father had been a guard, but often protected
merchant caravans as well as the Storms Giants sought greater ties to the
realm, to the chagrin of some. His father had very strong ties to a well to
do family in Galadon who took Galvinar in and saw to it that he would have a
chance to learns the ways of the warrior priest, something Galvinar?s
father had wanted for himself but circumstances prevented, and wanted for his
son as well.
The teachings of the Paladin?s guild seemed natural to Galvinar.
Protecting those who could not protect themselves was something Galvinar had
always tried to do which lead to a few scuffles in his youth. Some who new
him stated that Galvinar was looking for those who could not protect
themselves so he could get in those scuffles, but Galvinar disagreed.
The death of Galvinar?s father protecting trade, and livelihood of his
benefactors made commerce something which always seemed necessary and
beneficial to Galvinar.Securing a world in which the materialneeds of the
people could be met even for the weakest and most infirmed was what he felt
was his strongest motivation for seeking a life of enforcing the rule of law,
not the potential fights with those who sought to spread chaos and ruin and
who seemed to be the strongest forces in Thera.
So Galvinar dedicated himself to a life of enforcing order to protect the
lives of those who wanted protection, to create an environment in which
prosperity could grow and spread to meet the needs of all who lived in Thera,
and to push back against the forces of chaos who sought to undermine theses
things.
He pledged himself to the spire and began his journey to secure the blessings
of the Keeper of the Eternal Library.
Initial Blessings and Opportunities
Added Fri Jul 10 16:20:16 2020 at level 47:
Galvinar secured the initial blessings of Lady Ishuli and received his first
task to delve deeper into the world of commerce to inform his studies into
the topic. He was to assume the role of a merchant, to gain insight to the
conduct of business transactions other than as a consumer and protector.
Galvinar also secured his posting as a Magistrate so that he could better
protect the bastions of commerce and civility that he has always considered
it his duty to guard. As he nears the pinnacle of his guild, he is learning
from every fight against the forces of chaos and disruptors of trade.
Although he is experiencing more failure than success, he feels his fortitude
in the face of adversity will eventually lead to greater wisdom and knowledge
of the tools at his disposal and greater effectiveness in performance of
duty.
Reflections and Hopes
Added Mon Jul 20 23:43:23 2020 at level 51:
Tensions between the Empire and the Spire subsided once the anathema Ogae was
expelled. Galvinar knew this was the best for the stability of the realm,
but he had also felt some tinge of excitement for the upcoming conflict and
felt more disappointed than relieved. However, he knew these were selfish
thoughts and kept them to himself and Hoped for a period of greater stability
in the realm.
Galvinar was promoted to the position of provincial Magistrate. He felt
capable to fill the position although his rise was much sooner than he
expected. He Hoped to meet expectations and felt capable of doing so.
Although Galvinar had vanquished no foes, he believed he made an impact on
the realm in other ways.
Galvinar had spoken to Lady Ishuli about changing his area of study and
received approval to change his focus from economics to the study of The
Champion Dedication of Paladins. With still trying to gain master of his
skills and his duties as a magistrate, he did not feel properly committed to
his previous area of study. He also believed his new studies would make a
greater contribution to the realm once he had perished. He Hoped to finish
an introduction very soon, but had much more to master in his craft before he
could complete the full work.
Mysteries becoming more mysterious, a concept accepted and there a lot of Outlanders
Added Tue Jul 28 17:13:57 2020 at level 51:
For much of his life Galvinar has heard whispers and laughter in the shadows
he could not explain. He believe he found his explanation when Lady Nalasul,
the Goddess of Deception and Wisdom, brought him soup in the Paladin's guild
(from another vendor). Although their conversation seemed mostly cordial,
Galvinar is still not sure what her intent towards him might be.
The outlanders continue to be a force which is hard to contend with, but
Galvinar is getting better at recognizing the situations he can contend with
and those that are beyond his ability. Galvinar has Faith that if he
continues to be a stalwart in the defense of order, others will eventually
rally to his cause.
Galvinar has received acceptance of the preface to his work on the Champion's
dedication of the Paladin's guild and has an approved way ahead for
completion of his research. He is relieved this initial step is completed
and feels gratitude and joy that it was well received.
Growing the Spire
Added Tue Aug 4 23:10:40 2020 at level 51:
After many years of fighting, Galvinar has come to recognize what he can
accomplish on his own is very limited. He has also learned to recognize the
safety of the cities is very fleeting when those who seek to destroy them can
seek refuge in the wilds with very little fear of retribution.
In light of this Galvinar is placing more focus on developing other members
of the Spire so they may fight by his side. He has largely been handling the
induction of new members since becoming a Provincial Magistrate, but few of
them have become accomplished in their guilds.
Galvinar thinks he has completed his work on the Champion dedication and
is nervously awaiting feedback from Lady Ishuli
