Description
This sullen svirfneblin stands at a stoic three feet and four inches
tall, and appears almost as if some mad scientist had been selecting
handsome traits at random and mashing them onto a blank canvas of
slate-grey flesh. A perfect aquiline nose, a strong chin, rounded and
large ears, and bushy eyebrows form a face that seems uncannily drawn
from four different gnomes, and yet the proud of jut of his chin
indicates that he is pleased with his looks. Until you get to his green,
green eyes like cut emeralds that show a knowing sadness. He tends to
take careful care of his equipment, leaving it grime-less and clean,
orderly even.
Upon the pristine robes of the guild of conjurers that he bears the
badge of the Blood Tribunal upon one shoulder and the emblem of a
Darkened Lantern upon the other. His bearing though stoic and sad has a
noble element to it, a posture of a strict upbringing, the tilt of his
chin perfect. His belt of the finest leather cinches his thin waist
hangs with pouches.
Role
Havershaw and his demands.

Everyone's noticed the armor in the Stonefair family. The suit of armor you
never see move but it's never where it was. Everyone wonders but doesn't say
anything, we are taught not to from a young age. Not to notice, not to speak
of abnormalities. Most of my cousins never left the manor house and see it as
completely normal their eyes glazing over at the hint of strangeness, but they
are all horribly deformed from the generations of inbreeding. I am the only
normal one, almost beautiful they say, so I have much experience with normal
svirfneblins and that strange armor is not normal. Everything is taken care
of at the manor, no one wants for anything and it lulls them into a
lackadaisical strangeness, but I want more. Be careful what you wish for I
suppose.
The morning of my 13th birthday began the nightmares. 13 being a strange
sacred number to the svirfneblin. The dream of the suit of armor named
Havershaw's death, how he was an oracle of the Arbiters and saw his own death,
but far beyond that into the distant future. He had artificers build him a
suit of armor to trap his soul so he might see out this future, but shortly
thereafter the ignorant peasants known as the Battleragers caught him spouting
his oracle to the poor of Galadon when they threw him into the river where he
promptly drown. Then I suffer for 1000s of years with him in his armor in
mere moments in this dream before my family dug him out of limestone. The one
with the gift of sight and being a medium laid one hand upon the armor and
said it was to be guarded by the family. Havershaw then says these words to
the Medium and they echo as I wake. I will demand 3 things of you for
greatness to find you and your family. The first is that each generation I
choose one of the family to be mine and can demand three things of before I am
fully theirs. The second is that you encourage those of the family with the
Gift to make children with those of the gift so like might beget like and the
one might come. The third is that you marry the King's cousin that has been
looking for a match so that the family might become noble.
After the very first nightmare I woke to have him standing silently at the end
of my bed. His voice echoing in my head in a way that could not be ignored.
After three tasks I am yours eternally my chosen one, my chronomancer. You
are who I have waited for and bred like into like for. Your first task is
that you shall join the guild of conjuration that is the first step in
becoming a chronomancer. The second task is that you shall know justice and
morality as no other and seek out the Spire of the Blood Tribunal to continue
serving the law as I once did. The third task I shall reveal when you seek
out the Lord Rahsael and begin to truly understand what fate truly means. The
haunted suit of armor then drops a tome made of svirfneblin skin titled the
Oracle upon Gemmern's bed as he walks away.

In a page of the Svirfneblin skin tome titled 'Oracle' Gemmern writes.
I found that I have been able to resist the third command to visit the
Lord of Loss until I have finished the first. Though the endless study
draws to a close and I have a true fear of meeting a god though I know
it must be done and fate can not be avoided. I have also begun to have
an understanding of what it might mean to be a Chronomancer but it is
not what Havershaw the suit of armor thought it would be. It is being
able to relive the past through objects or corpses. Not some grand
thing to control time. More and more as I touch things I know of their
past and how they came to be. I have not told Havershaw for he would
use it against me I believe or be disappointed and try to make my life
miserable. Others do not hear his endless chatter for he is a ghost and
my family is one of Medium's.
This book I write upon had nothing written in it but each page was made
from the skin of one of my ancestors. Havershaw took the skin after
they had died and the funeral had finished. He said he knew the book
would be important but not how. But as this power of chronomancy has
came upon me I have begun reliving their lives and knowing their loss as
my own. It is always the loss that lingers it seems and seeps in
changing them. How one becomes sad without knowing why and then
realizing it was the anniversary of the death of a loved one.
Mayhaps Havershaw is right in his choices and I have always been bound
to the Lord of Loss. I have also grown to love the Spire and it's laws
and the duty they embody. I seek to spend my life as a Justiciar and
focus upon investigation and the Laws. There is a beauty to the way the
Laws are written that one could spend a lifetime entertaining. Then there
is the guild of conjuration he made me join. Fascinating as it is deadly
and dangerous.
