Description
Standing just over four and a half feet tall, this broad shouldered dwarf
carries himself with his chest out and his back straight. Wavy auburn locks
spill down his back, and while they are long, his beard of the same hue is
still almost twice again as long as the hair on his head. Crisp green eyes,
full of life, sit beneath haphazard bushy eyebrows. His nose is broad and
flat and obviously broken. While his beard could perhaps use a good
brushing, his armor and weapons have been neglected not one bit. An
appearance of being maintained with an appropriate regiment of oil and
polishing, his armors are immaculate.

Ghearden Forgefoot.
His family name sums up for the most part the demeanor of Ghearden. A well
earned name to be sure, given to them for one of two reasons. The first
possibility being that when a member of the Forgefoot family sets his feet to
stand his ground in battle, it is said that his enemy would have an easier
time trying to set his shoulder and move a well built forge than to dislodge
that particular dwarf. The second possibility could be how stubborn his
family is notorious for being, even among dwarves. Quite likely, it is both
of these things that have earned them such a colorful name.
Not content to lead the closed off lives of his people, though he does love
his kin dearly.Ghearden recognizes the threat that the evil in men's hearts
and the tangible evils such as the nightwalkers the Scions barter with for
power, pose not only to those Therans who live outside of the mountainous
homes of the dwarves, but eventually even to his own people. He refuses to
lead a myopic existence and will do everything within his power to do his
is only one suitable religion in his mind (despite the fact that the god
Himself is a flighty arial), and that is the way of the Maran. Straight, to
the point, serve the Light in what way you can, and if you stand against the
Light and refuse to stand down, meet purification through death and the
eternal flames of the holy Phoenix. So he finds himself a member of the
paladin's guild seeking out Lord Shokai's temple.

Ghearden has come to the conclusion that while paladins might not be "better"
Maran, they are more well suited to the perils of being a soldier of the
Light. The thin line of the Maran and those of the Brigade walk is
comparable to a narrow footbridge over a canyon, while the Paladin Code
serves as handrails on that footbridge.
Recieving the prayers of fortitude make Ghearden feel as if he is acting
appropriately serving the Light and following the precepts of Lord Shokai,
and only serve to fuel his inner fire more.
Progression of the Forgefoot Priest
Added Mon Mar 28 18:47:30 2005 at level 40:
Ghearden Forgefoot, upon being awarded a position among the Brigade proper,
he chose action to display his appreciation to Lord Aarn for the opportunity,
knowing the dwarf god would see more worth in such over fancy tongued praise
and thanks. Similar to receiving the virtuous prayers of fortitude from Lord
Shokai, his continued success among the priesthood and the ranks of the
soldiers of the Light, only leads him to believe he is acting accordingly.
A dwarf of few words, Ghearden of Clan Forgefoot, is surely like the forge
anvil, simplistic in design, yet effective and productive. As his confidence
as a priest of Shokai grows, he becomes ever more as the anvil. Being that
he is the anvil then his faith is the forge hammer, his enemies will either
bend to the will of that faith or be broken against the unforgiving and
unyielding surface that is Ghearden Forgefoot. All of these revelations and
assurances fuel the destructive silver fires of redemption in his soul and
all those who would seek to oppose the Light and do it harm shall find
themselves standing before their judge, jury, and executioner on this side
and the next.
