Ghrimriddor Frosthammer comes from the stout clan of dwarves bidden
to add the paladins in the battles against Udgaard Loke. While still tied to
the earth like all dwarves, the Frosthammer Clan spent much of their time
battling in the freezing glaciers of the north, and have developed quite
a bit of proficiency in land-based siege warfare. Ghrimriddor was the sixth son
of the brother to the Clan Thane, Irmghar Frosthammer. Always one to
to battle near the front line with his brothers and kinfolk, Ghrimriddor
is bold and fearless to the point of cockiness at times.
He set off towards the adventuring life because he felt that he was not
"perfecting the ore" as he put it. He had merely learned all he could within
his clan, and so he made way to a place one of his forefather's had learned of, a
place called the Academy near Galadon.
Ghrimriddor focuses much of his mental and physical energies on proving
himself capable of anything. He truly believes he is the strongest dwarf
in the world, and that if he puts his mind to it, he can accomplish anything.
He is jovial and easy-going with those he trusts and finds fellowship with
though he tends to be hardest on those he cares most about (himself included).
If he were to have one fault, it would be that he is often greedy and curious
when discretion might be the better part of valor.
Dark Tidings
Added Fri Dec 17 22:53:49 2010 at level 11:
Ghrimriddor had just progressed to a stage within his guild where he was
able to test himself on some adventures, running odd errands for several
folk needing the aid. It was during these times when he first encountered
creatures with powers beyond his comprehension, and strange events.
While in Galadon resting from a graveyard zombie-cleansing, Ghrimriddor
was approached by a being swirling with chaotic energies, and blessed
with a touch of chaos, strengthening his grip and renewing vigor to his legs.
Ghrimriddor thought nothing of it, but perhaps that was a portent of things
to come.
A week or so later, Ghrimriddor had just finished taking care of some
extermination business when a darkened being coated in blood appeared
from the shadows, and told him the horrible fate that had overtaken his
clan. Ghrimriddor was the last line of the Frosthammer's.
After listening to some words about a Prophecy, Ghrimriddor set out.
He had no idea what the Prophecy foretold. But he knew one thing.
He would see it through until his chance for vengeance was upon him.
He would show the world the fury of an enraged Frosthammer warrior.
Return to Akan for the Frosthammer Clan (what's left of it)
Added Sat Dec 18 01:24:03 2010 at level 12:
Ghrimriddor set out to avenge his kin, but he had not the strength as of yet.
He knew in time he would be strong enough to take on armies, but his
time for warfare was coming. Perhaps it was time he see the glories of Akan.
Ghrimriddor finally gained entrance to the Halls of Castle Akan.
It had been many centuries since his clan had last walked these halls
and although Ghrimriddor's heart swelled with fierce dwarven pride, he
was on too urgent of business to falter in his course. Eventually, he was
able to gain audience with King Kirgni himself. The King was shocked to
hear the terrible news of the massacre of Clan Frosthammer, but he
raged on in true dwarven fashion, vowing vengeance and misery to
whomever had did this heinous act. Ghrimriddor knew his King was
truly the chosen of the Gods, and his beard swelled with pride.
Soon, they would have answers.
On what the future might hold...

Ghrimriddor continued to search for those who slaughtered his Clan.
Around every corner lurked someone or something trying to keep him
from this knowledge it seemed, but still he trudged on. He was oddly
drawn towards two warriors of the Ostalagiah village, the dark-elf
Zrakkna and the human Erkad. He sensed in them the strange type of
air of Destiny that had permeated his soul for the last months. For why
else would his Clan have been slaughtered and himself hunted like
a dog?
Of late, the news has been even more troubling. The Orc Clan has declared
him to be the object of their desire, or better yet, his beard. This
Ghrimriddor feels is the ultimate insult, and although he has been
routed by the orcish horde on occasion, he continues to struggle
through his search without loosing what has now become most
precious to him.
With all the Archmagi, magic students and their ilk hunting Ghrimriddor
he has at times began to think on his thoughts of magic. Ghrim
never had a problem with magic when he had lived with his now late
brothers and sisters of the Frosthammer. Sure, he never used the
stuff because he, like most dwarves, didn't really have the "taste for
it". While not using it however, he had seen elven mages aid greatly in
their cause against Loke several times, throwing balls of fire into
legions of the Udgaardian men. Secretly however, Ghrimriddor
had felt an odd sense of....something when he saw those mages
so carelessly fling the power of the elements. Perhaps those

Some thoughts (OOC)
Added Fri Dec 31 18:12:27 2010 at level 25:
First off, trying to keep him as dynamic and flexible as possible.
Second, basically he is a goodie first (at the moment) and
Battlerager second. If this means I get kicked out of
Battle, I am fine with that. Rolled the character with the
intention of following Thror and that's about it. However, I
will say if I continue as a Battlerager, I fully expect to be turned
neutral at some point.
Other thoughts are Ghrimriddor was rolled to be fearless and
cocky to the point of zealous devotion to strength. Any time
he is unable to do something because of limitations in power
are meant to upset him. However, this is not condusive to a
caballed environment where you are disadvantaged
because you destroy morale, so I'll be trying to
roleplay his growing need to temper himself in such situations.
The Last Thane
Added Wed Jan 5 18:47:03 2011 at level 30:
Ghrimriddor stood amongst a gathering of soldiers, his cape tugged
tightly around his body to protect himself from the cold that had caused
ice crystals to form inside his beard. Ghrimriddor looked around, and
couldn't stop the faint sense of unease that permeated his body. He
glanced again at the shivering dwarf clothed in bloody-stained furs
resting anxiously behind him.
Several fires blazed in the wilderness near the large Fortress jutting
out of the mountainside. Few wounded soldiers were being tended
to by a slim man in white robes, and the corpse of Bolg the Orc Lord was
hewn upon the soil. But the battle was not yet done, as sounds of struggle
lept upon the wind, coming from all directions. Ghrimriddor snorted, and
once again looked towards a heavily armored dwarf standing near the head
of the group of soldiers.
Just then, a figure slid from the shadows, and with words of seduction and
power began to talk to the Frosthammer and the gathered army.
Drow.
Powerful.
Deadly.
Farg'n 'ells.
The Last Thane (cont'd)
Added Wed Jan 5 18:50:24 2011 at level 30:
Ghrimriddor winced in pain, his broken ribs sending shooting pains
throughout his entire body. He panted, bent over in agony, as he looked
back on the last couple of days.
It was hard, leaving his only surviving kin stay at the Fortress of the Light
deep in the Redhorn, but Ghrimriddor knew he was ill-equipped to deal
with the type of power arrayed against him. Soon there after, the vile
orc horde began to search him out. Not only had Tremblefist issued
a price for his head, but so did the legions of Bounty hunters in the realms.
Ghrimriddor was beset on all sides.
He struggled back to a reasonable defensive posture, taking stock of his
wounds. Grave, but he'd live. It had been a brutal fight with a large orc
but Ghrimriddor had managed to fight him off enough to escape. He only
had one thought, throughout the bloody, staggering sprint. He had
to survive to return to the Redhorn to battle against the Drow. Even
the thought made him tighten the grip on a smoldering silver flail
in his hand. He had to find answers. Protect his last surviving kin.
Whatever the cost.
The Last Thane (final)
Added Wed Jan 5 18:55:07 2011 at level 30:
Their combined strength was not enough, and now, he fled. For his life,
for the life of those who had battled among him, for the life of the
dwarf the drow now had. He ran, through the city, into the lazy fields
and brambles, through the forest. He ran until he could run no more,
and stopped.
Did that shadow just move?
When he awoke, he was blind. It is said, when one sense is taken from
you, your other senses are heightened. Ghrimriddor wasn't sure, but
thought he could smell the faint tang of metal being worked in the air
and with his chained flail swishing in front of him, started blindly
walking towards that smell. Soon, it would all come to a head.
Coming quietly to a structure in which he couldn't figure the exit
Ghrimriddor used his shield to slowly lower himself to the ground.
But the drow were not done with him yet, he learned as his sight
slowly returned. And so he stood, checking his weapons quickly
before moving towards the drow with a prayer to the Hammersong
on his lips.
The same Hammersong now glaring at a cowering dark-elf
Weaponsmaster, an aura of power and Strength radiating from
the god.
The same Hammersong who now walked with Ghrimriddor to his new
home amongst the barbarians of the Ostalagiah.
Ghrimriddor pinched himself. Nope, still awake.
The Prophecy as Ghrimriddor knows it
Added Wed Jan 12 23:58:26 2011 at level 32:
The Prophecy has shaped Ghrimriddor's life since he first journied
from the home of his Clan those many years ago. Alone at first, he
has now been joined by others, some marked as he, some marked
in strange, terrorifying ways. Some he would normally kill on sight
and some he would normally share a pint with.
What had he wrapped himself up into?
It was just another day for the beleaguered dwarf, battling the forces
of Opression and those that were slowly being driven wild by using
magic which seemed to be dangerously out of control as of late. He was
saddened by some of those he was forced to put out of their misery,
normally good, kind folk who dabbling in the power of the Veil
had caused them to light forests on fire, destroy buildings, and
warp flesh. But it was work that must be done. His mind still was
clouded by the abducted dwarf that was his last surviving kin.
He had failed the boy.
Just then, a strange, chilling fog began to billow into the Ostalagiah
village. Ghrimriddor stood, and called to his brothers and
sisters in the struggle, letting them know something was amiss.
The large warrior to Ghrimriddor's left smiled grimly, and they waited.
The mark he had been gifted/cursed with began to blister and crack.
Had he truly become the Last Thane?
A glimpse into the soul of Ghrimriddor (memories)
Added Tue Mar 1 14:24:01 2011 at level 51:
Through the murky veil of memories and time you focus your attention
on a battered dwarf standing at the gates of a ruined village. An air of
stoic defiance radiates from this dwarf, belying the casual nature in
which he stands at the moment. Hewn bodies lie near the entrance to
a torch-lit village, and you notice that the dwarf is in the midst of a
conversation with a human carrying two razor-sharp blades. After a
a few moments, you notice the dwarf nodding towards the human
and sense a feeling of loss and sadness in the dwarf as he watches the
human wind his way through the ruins, before entering a large road
headed to the east.
You focus your attention deeper into the dwarf, and with a rush of
violent, turbulent emotions, are presented with a stark image of
anger and defeat. An odd dwarf carrying a hammer of rippling
water stands next to reptilian creature whose form seems to mutate
and change momentarily, as well as a slim figure who has an aura
of darkness and pain encircling him in a dangerous penumbra. They
all stand over the bludgeoned body of a dwarf, the corpse twisted
in unnatural ways, yet a ghostly figure of that same dwarf floats
nearby, hurling curses and insults in their direction. You glean the
powerful sense of satisfaction from this unholy trio, before they
depart through the torch-lit path, leaving the ghostly figure alone
with his rage.
