Description

Gianath is here as expected, standing diminutively at a robust 2 feet 8 inches in height. While appearing relatively stocky and rotund, she carries her weight well and seems to focus her attire upon functional yet concealing garments such a robes and light armor. Her pale skin borders on a medium grey depending on the lighting, and her face is fair and unblemished. Her eyes seem to illuminate in the dark with a bright amber hue, and her tiny, sparkling white teeth look almost too perfectly straight to be real. She seems to wear a neutral expression and furrowed brow most of the time, with perhaps a slight smile as she speaks, as she tries to devote her full attention to whatever is before her. Her hair is a murky mane of ragged, charcoal tufts that has somehow been braided back and folded into her collar.

Role

How Gianath Came to be Stuck in this Freezing Crevice...

Born under the name Gianathius Thalimakisus, this young lady was born into
abject poverty in the gnomish tonne of Glackinspiel, not far from Hillcrest.
Gianath had no discernible talent for building nicknacks or crafting metals,
so had little in common with her mother and step-father. She fought
constantly with her 13 siblings, and was relieved when most of them found
work in the factories and apprenticeships in their youth, leaving her alone
at home to tend to the chores.

Gianath actually had no marketable skills, and her handiwork with the
household tasks was frustrating at best most of the animals she cared for
died of starvation or ran way (those poor goats). Her step-father preferred
to eat at the neighbors whenever it was her turn to cook stew, which could
barely be considered food at all. Worst of all, Gianath's attempts at
cleaning would sometimes lead to unexplained fires. She never meant to be so
feeble, but just had lots of trouble finding her niche or appearing one bit
of useful to her family.

It was with great pleasure that she one day stumbled upon her real father's
chest of personal belongings. Her mother had never really said what fate
befell her dad, only that there was a horrible accident involving crickets
or maybe it was mantises. Regardless, Gianath found a whole box of goodies
that could only be described as magical trinkets and tomes of pure gibberish.
She had spent a great deal of time handling them, trying to glean some
important nuggets of how they might be useful. If nothing else, they were
fascinating. On occasion, she managed to use one of the little
squirrel-shaped icons to transform her briefly into a rodent of the same
name. How could that not be enjoyable?

She had to keep this all a secret, however. Mother hated it when people poked
through her closet. Well, Gianath had little respect for her mother, and
especially no patience with this dilapidated little shack in the middle of
squalor-ville. Gianath took all of her father's things, along with what
remained of her pittance of an allowance, and headed south. Somewhere between
then and now she ended up stuck in this crevice, where she had nothing but
time to try and figure how how to make these magical wonders work for her.
Now if only she could climb her way out and put it all to good use...

Sometimes Misfortune Comes in Droves

It turns out that her earlier weeks spent stuck in the crevice in the Jade
Mountains were an omen to later trials in Gianath's life. She had run into
similar problems with getting her Spire career started, due to extremely poor
timing on everybody's part. Similarly Gianath's shapeshifting profession had
hit a brick wall long ago, being stalled at every effort to learn her prime
forms. Finally, Gianath had lost the considerable fortune due to a bad roll
of the dice. 

Fortunately, losing her gold was not *that* big of a blow, and she gambled it
mostly out of feeling that she must be due for some kind of windfall. Fate
hadn't finished teaching Gianath a lesson yet. Upon returning back to her
shack outside of Seantryn Modan, she opened the door to find what remained of
her meager possessions ransacked and stolen. She had a pretty good idea who
robbed her that filthy emperor Adarmar had been loitering about earlier, and
commented how nice Gianath's glass elephant collection was. It was foolish to
leave on such a long gambling trip without having a neighbor watch the place.

Well, she decided to abandon this city and head north to start over in Hamsah
Mu'Tazz, where even the most unfortunate soul could find prosperity (if he
didn't end up buzzard meat, bones bleached and buried in the desert).

Well, Gianath was certain things *had* to start turning around in her life.
She would start by focusing on this miserable Sifaka Lemur form to try to
find something good that might come of it... she might be stuck with it, but it
didn't necessarily have to be the doom of her.
