Description
A greasy dark-dwarf stands here. He's covered in grime and sweat, though
he doesn't seem to notice. His hair and beard are well-maintained and
kept in neat braids. His eyes are clear, with none of the tell-tale signs of
excessive drink or smoking.
He stands rather solid, thick slabs of muscle showing through where you can
catch a glimpse through his armor. The armor itself is well-kept. Not shiny,
but not dented or rusted either.
Slightly shorter than the average duergar, rather than making him seem
smaller, it combines with his thick musculature to give him a more solid,
powerful appearance.

Role summary
Added Sun Sep 10 16:37:23 2017 at level 36:
Glaunm was born during the reign of Emperor Glikhardiz. As such, he has no
other life experiences to draw upon or knowledge of how other Emperors may
have run the Empire during their times. History books can, of course, give
insight to times past, but Glaun has never been much for scholarly pursuits,
and his parents have always been loyal Citizens.
While some evildoers (especially within the ranks of the Empire) may claim
that they are, in fact, not evil and merely trying to bring "peace" or some
lofty goal such as that, Glaunm is under no such illusions. He knows full
well that to serve the Empire means serving Darkness and Order in equal
measure. He also knows there will never be true peace. However, the Empire
has given him a great deal, and so he serves, loyally. Possibly in part out of
fear, as well as a feeling of obligation and duty. Enemies abound for a member
of the Blade Sect, but those enemies multiply in number for an Anathema.
Glaunm was selected rather young for the Blade Sect training program. His
parents were overjoyed. Not out of pride - or, rather, not only - but due
to the increased stipend they would recieve as a part of Glaunm's taxes, as
well as the prestige. To have a son or daughter become even a Sheathed Blade
is quite a status symbol. The parental dark-dwarves salivate as they
consider the possibility of Glaunm rising to a position of true power -
perhaps one day to even become War Master?
Glaunm has been raised to serve Order first (and to embrace the Darkness while
doing so), with a healthy respect for Lord Destuvius. Not truly much of a
religious man, he offers up the token prayers that many do daily - if only to
make certain that if the gods do not smile upon him, at least they will not
frown down at him.
Shifting Winds?
Added Fri Sep 15 22:02:38 2017 at level 40:
Emnon. Who is this Emnon figure? Tales tell of an older God, who all had
long dead, or at least long forgotten. And yet, he (It?) revealed to Glaunm
just how fallacious those tales apparently are. Emnon lives.
How shall this affect Glaunm? His first instinct was to immediately jump
into a role of religious subservience to this newly-awakened diety, but
he quickly realized that would be foolish. This might, after all, be a
test of some sort by Lord Destuvius - watching to see how Glaunm, who had
to this point paid only lip service to the Destuvian Church, would react
when faced with the chance to gain power from elsewhere.
But perhaps not. This new diety might, in fact, be the new guiding force
within the Empire. Surely that merited some bowing and scraping?
Truth be told, Glaunm had to admit that he would bow and scrape for
any diety that showed itself before him, lest he be extinguished like
a tiny candle.
So, patience. Continue as before, paying lip service and keeping a healthy
respect for all dieties, especially the Dark Lords of Empire. And perhaps
one day, adjust his sails to take advantage of the shifting winds.
Strange Dreams
Added Wed Sep 20 21:46:41 2017 at level 41:
Glaunm has had strange dreams recently. One set of them, in particular
woke him with a start, in a cold sweat.
He dreamt of vague, ominous imagery - flashing by quickly, sometimes too
quickly to make out. Those he remembered upon waking:
An oft frequented inn, its once bustling common area empty but for a dark, looming presence.
A set of shackles on a riverbank, rusted and overgrown with moss.
An empty glass atop an unmarked grave.
Awakening with a chill spreading along the inside of his skull, Glaunm considered.
While he had, in fact, eaten some bad devil's backbone earlier that day, he
doubted the cause of this dream and the foreboding feeling that coupled with
it was indigestion.
He spent some time traveling the lands, trying to see if he could find an Inn that
reminded him of the image from his dream, but to no avail. He walked river shorelines,
seeking rusted moss-covered shackles, but found none. He spent a bit of time in graveyards,
but the empty-glass image seemed more...symbolic than anything else.
Whether the dream was caused by some astrological phenomenon, bad food, a lack of
good sleep, or even some divine message, Glaunm reconciled himself to the fact
that he was not intelligent enough to find the answer alone.
A New God
Added Wed Oct 25 22:41:24 2017 at level 51:
Glaunm was the new War Master. Had been for a short time. In the midst of gathering
one of the Emperor's items, a strange voice spoke to him. It asked him questions of
loyalty and ownership, and seemed pleased with his answers.
Soon, the power behind this voice (and, Glaunm suspected, his strange dreams) revealed
itself to be Emnon, the Unspoken One. A bit more talking, and Glaunm was honored with
a tattoo of a locust devouring a withered sapling, and granted permission to utter
the name of this Dark Lord of Empire.
Shortly thereafter, Glaunm was summarily dismissed, with an offhand order of "Bring
me the head of the Nightreaver." given.
They say one of the greatest curses one can bestow upon another is to tell them:
"May you live in interesting times." Glaunm's times seem to have gotten much
more interesting, as of late.
