Description

The stench of this pile of trash lying in a heap on the ground, is just overwhelming. Broken egg shells, rotten banana peels, a head with blinking eyes staring back at you..There's something in there, and as it brings a hand up out of the pile of rags and garbage to pick its nose, you notice that its a small svirfnebli. Cocking his head to one side, he looks at you with curious eyes. Matted black hair lies under an apple core, and you notice tiny ears through all the debris. Shrugging to himself, he hefts a battle axe from within the pile and shuffles away on tiny dirty feet, dropping bits of trash and leaving a trail of filth behind him.

Gullynapping

Added Sun Jan 9 08:45:54 2011 at level 1:
It was just another day in the city of Galadon, when Allaramen's mother
decided to go to the market with him in tow. He was just a toddler and this
was to be his first outing. He had almost mastered the art of walking and
standing, though he prefered sitting on the ground and tinkering with
whatever he found there. They walked from their home on the northern side of
town, Allaramen's father had invented quite a useful tool that polished
gemstones as well as ground them down to the perfect shape. It was all the
rage for jewelers of Seantryn Modan and Hamsah Mu'taz, until they realized
that it blew itself up after ten to fifteen uses. But the profits of the
invention let Allaremen's father move from the caves of Cragstone to the
prosperous city of Galadon. Thus hand in hand, his mother and he walked to
the market to see what the peddlers had brought. A stand with books from the
Libraries of Tir Tilath caught his mothers attention, and she stopped to
browse through them. Letting go of his mothers hand, while she was haggling
down the seller, he started to wander away. So engrossed was she in her
purchase, that she didn't even notice when the figure hopped out of a garbage
heap, and stuffed her son into his shirt, before shuffling back into the
garbage to look for more prizes.

A New Family

Added Sun Jan 9 08:47:43 2011 at level 1:
Bloomp climbed out of the garbage heap and crawled back into the sewer drain
from which he came. Humming to himself, he walked back to his clan home
through the various twists and turns that he knew all too well.Shuffling
through the last pipe, he didn't even notice the filth that had clung itself
to his head and the rags he called clothes. 'Bloomp home!' he cried upon
entering the room. Two faces peered up at him with hopeful expressions on
them, 'Wheres food?' one asked.Halting the picking of his nose, he
proceeded to take the items he had collected throughout the day out of his
shirt and pants. 'Got that..an that..an that..an that..' he said as he threw
down banana peels, egg shells, rotten meat finally, Allaramen. The svirf
toddler lay very still on the floor he had just been dropped on, barely
breathing and showing hardly no signs of life. 'Oooh...', Bloomp's sister
Groomp said, 'Itsa thing.' Poking the child with an unwashed foot, Bloomp
said 'Its dead though, good eats.' Just then Allaramen let out a stifled
cry, opening his now tear filled eyes. 'Aint dead,' Groomp said, bending
down to pick the child up,'Itsa- live. Whered ya get 'em from?' Shrugging,
Gloomp picked his nose and grabbed the child. 'Ya still wanna eat it?' 'No!'
Groomp exclaimed, 'We gotta keep it.'

Employment

Added Sun Jan 9 08:48:55 2011 at level 1:
And so they did. Surprisingly enough, Gloomp lived through the traumatic
experience, and came out unscathed. A diet of rotten meat, vegetable peels,
stagnant water, and moldy bread kept him alive throughout his childhood.
Though eventually, he started making food runs on his own, and came across
other beings. It was on one of these trips that he met his guildsmaster for
the first time.Gloomp was rummageing through the garbage heap outside the
bakers shop, when somebody poured hot grease over his back.'Gah! Atsa hurt!'
he exclaimed, running away from the smoking substance. 'What have we here?'
said the man. "A gully dwar...a gully svirf?' Chuckling to himself, he
reached over and picked Gloomp up by the scuff of his neck. 'Hey there
little fella, what are you doing rummaging through this garbage? I have use
for you elsewhere. What do you say there fella? You want to come home with
me, and eat some real food?' Gloomp was at a loss..So many words in one
sentence, how did that man speak so fast? 'Gotta not go.' Gloomp said
shaking his head. Chuckling to himself, the man set him back down on the
garbage.'Very well then, Goodbye my little friend.' And so the man walked
off. Picking his nose, Gloomp thought to himself. Pretty soon he found
himself sneaking behind the man, walking across town via the Trade Road.
Suddenly the man stopped, and whipped around..dagger in hand. Gloomp jumped
down on the ground and put his hands on his head, with knees trembling, he
yelled "No hurt Gloomp! I go man! Man says got food!' Laughing out loud, the
man bent down and thumped Gloomp on the shoulder, flipping him over.'Now now,
thats not neccassary. Up with you little one.' Gloomp pushed himself up off
the ground, and stood up staring at the man with a wide look of both fear and
hope in his eyes.'Gloomp go man, man says got food?' Chuckling, the man
reached down as if to pick Gloomp up, but then remembering where they met, he
merely grabbed his hand and started shaking..immediatly regretting it when he
came into contact with the sweaty smelly thing.'Well come with me then,' he
said. They walked to the warriors guild , where Gloomp was put to work
cleaning the training grounds and bar, he was paid in the form of all the
trash he could carry home, and he was fine with that.

The Fire and the GullyRager

Added Sun Jan 9 08:50:24 2011 at level 1:
After a few months of normal social interactions Gloomp picked up a few of
the lost traits and bits of intelligence of his kind. Though he will always
speak shortly, some would say dumbly.

Time passed and Gloomp discovered the treasure trove of all garbage pickers,
the city dump. It was here that he brought his 'family' and helped them set
up residence right in the middle of all of Theras junk. They fended the area
off from kobolds, crows, and rats day in and day out. It is important to
note, though, that twice a year city invokers are hired to incinerate the
majority of the refuse heaps. On one of these occasions, Gloomp happened to
be in residence with Bloomp and the others after having brought home three
sword hilts to show off. 'Its get hot here.' Bloomp said, fanning his
sweating face. Gloomp looked around at the steamy smoke building in the roof
of their den and narrowed his eyes. He had already been commended on his
wisdom and keen intelligence from the others, so they marveled when he began
yelling 'Fire! Fire! Fire!' and making alarm noises. 'Alla go out!' They got
outdoors and realized that the entire dump was a burning mass of flames, with
fireballs soaring in from over head. 'RUN LIKE CRAZY!' Gloomp exclaimed.
Gloomp bee-lined towards the exit of the heaps, but the others ran back
inside their dwelling. Gloomp would never see them again, but although he
presumed them dead and gone forever, the following day a sanitation worker
filed a complaint with the conjurers guild about runaway mephits startling
the daylights out of him as he dumped his load.

Gloomp was sad for a time, but was allowed to stay in residence at the
Warriors Guild. The guildmaster explained the dump incineration schedule to
him, and that mages were responsible for seeing it maintained. 'Magics? No
more magics! You teach me make no magics, then city safe place.' Chuckling to
himself, the warrior guildmaster decided, on a lark, to train Gloomp up to
fight, explain to him a bit about the Battle Village, and sit back and watch
the show.

Gloomp the Warrior

Added Thu Jan 20 16:30:38 2011 at level 35:
Gloomp has come a long way from the Galadon refuse heaps. Thinking
there were no surviving members of his family, he took what the
Warrior Guildmaster told him to heart, developed a keen hatred of
'witches', and found his way into the village. He likes the village
greatly, and though he doesn't have a hut proper, he has burrowed
himself out a nice..nest?..of sorts near the latrines and waste piles
of the Village, hoarding old junked weapons, armor, food, trophies,
and 'witch bits'.

Gloomp was brought into the village under unusual circumstances. He
wanted to go to the Lyceum because he was told that learning the
history of the Village would help him become a part of it. He couldn't
really find anyone in the lyceum to tell him about village history,
just a lot of books. While he was there though, he encountered an
individual that at once brought him a sense of peace and comfort,
reminding him of home. An ash covered dwarf, who called himself a
traveler. He smelled like a true dwarf, and he claimed he had the Head
of the Village on his person, Gloomp attempted to wrestle it away.
Gloomp found the muscles beneath the cloak of the individual as
unyielding as stone, and has always wondered who this dwarf was and
where he came from. Gloomp caught his scent on the wind once near
Akan, acrid metallic smoke, old fires, ale, and battle. He followed
his nose and ended up at a massive smithy. Gloomp took an interest in
blacksmithing and forging then and there, and has attempted to smash
bits of metal himself more than a time or two. Usually he ends up
flattening the hell out of metal and taking it to his lair and
forgetting about what he was doing due to sensing witches nearby that
require some good dying.

Gloomp is far too simple to actively worship a God, or even to know
its something he's able to do. As he interacts more with the rest of
the world though and less with Gully dwarves, he catches on to how
things are and accepts them if they fit, so religion for Gloomp isn't
an impossibility and would likely prove..entertaining to say the
least.

In summation Gloomp is Gloomp. He is simple, smelly, courageous, slow
but cunning, and seeks to better the world by getting rid of
individuals that have the power to bring destruction to Thera, be it
landfills or continents.

Gloomp the Orc Slave: A Love Affair (Part 1)

Added Mon Jan 24 16:10:43 2011 at level 37:
It was a hot and humid day in Voralian City, the kind of day Gloomp
just loved. On days like this day Gloomp could use his acute senses to find
the perfect combinations of rotting fruits, meats, and
vegetables. Few have time to appreciate Gloomp's attire, as when he
calls attention to himself it is usually in the midst of chopping a
'witch' in half with his large axes. At normal times such as this one
though, his hefty axes drag the ground leaving plowed markings of his
passing and he resembles a walking pile of garbage. Gloomp can often
be found 'foraging' the refuse bins of eateries, poking at chamber
pots from dwellings (he once found a gaudy faux diamond ring), and
watching blacksmith's at their forges hoping for stray scrap metals.
It can be noted that Gloomp's axes serve him far better as shovels in
garbage heaps than hacking into witches, though both are very
important skills to him.

Gloomp's speech patterns and intelligence have been called into
account several times by both his friends and enemies. Most attribute
it to him trying to 'fit in' to the others of the Village by dumbing
down his own words and intelligence. However, though Gloomp retains
the intelligence and wisdom of his race, it is focused more on things
relevant to his own beliefs and interests. Gloomps interests are ever
changing, and a more chaotic svirf hasn't surfaced onto Thera proper
in ages.

It should be no surprise to us then that Gloomp could have a
completely different view of each race of Thera. Case in point, orcs.
Gloomp's first encounter with an orc happened on this hot and humid
day in Voralian City we were previously discussing. He caught her
scent on the wind from two city blocks over, and immediately dropped
his collection of broken crockery in search of the source of this
heady bouquet. He began following her as she stomped her way through
the side alleys of the city. Hearing his axes scraping the ground
behind her, she immediately dropped into a crouch and gnashed her
teeth together turning to face the threat. She glared icily at her
surroundings, knowing she was being followed yet seeing nothing. She
continued to walk, and again she heard the dragging of metal steadily
following her. She began to trot, and a loud clanging and banging
finally gave away Gloomp's urban camoflauge to her. She stared down at
Gloomp, and he stared up dumbly, picking his nose. 'Yu smell gud,' he told
her. She reached down and snatched him up, growling at him. Looking around
herself, she snapped an iron collar around his neck which a chain dangled
from to a clasp on her warbelt. If you could see Gloomp's eyebrows beneath
the grease, blood, and smut on his forehead you would note the confusion on
Gloomp's face. But as it was, he just offered a 'Wut yu doin?' and shrugged
his shoulders as she put him down and began walking steadily along to the Orc
Village.

Gloomp the Orc Slave: A Love Affair (Part 2)

Added Mon Jan 24 16:11:31 2011 at level 37:
I won't go into great detail about what followed. Naturally the chains that
bound Gloomp didn't withstand the curiosity that bloomed around Gloomp in the
holding pens. Gloomp knew that there were some amazing things going on around
him in this place, and he thought he might have died and gone to Valhalla.
The Orc captor guarding the pens quickly lost an arm upon trying to snatch
Gloomp up, and from there he began wandering the Orc Village. He tasted great
things, he found breathtaking objects, and he made his way into the Orc
Breeding Den while it was in full activity. Throwing himself into the mix,
some would say Gloomp lost his innocence, Gloomp would say 'I got stoneskin
so gud!' After this encounter, Gloomp remained indifferent to Orcs in
general. They were certainly more muddy than other creatures, and they
smelled a lot more familiar, but they just didn't feel like family. After all
was said and done, Gloomp did not suffer one disease, infestation, or
parasite. Some would call this a medical mystery, but when you were raised by
gully dwarves in the sewers and refuse piles of a city like Galadon, you're
probably immune or resistant to just about everything by the time you turn
two years old.

The Stench that Silenced the Sirine's Song (Part 1)

Added Fri Jan 28 16:05:29 2011 at level 40:
Leucosia sat on her rocks in her sexiest of poses. Her thin dress
clung to her tightly as the mist of the waves caused the fabric to
stick to her ample curves. She was feeling particularly devilish after having
lured in an entire warship of Seantryn's finest crashing to the rocks.
Already they were being broken and put to work on another part of the Island.
Yet still she sang her song and it floated across the vast waters of the
Aryth Ocean, caressing the loins and ears of any male who was unfortunate
enough to cross those waters.
_______________________________________

Gloomp was very agitated. The witches were hiding ridiculously well
lately. He hadn't bloodied his axes in days. He had searched high and
low, relentlessly seeking vengeance on witches for destroyed trash and
attempting to prevent the destruction of future trashes. He had
traveled for hundreds of miles in the past few days alone, from the
vast mountains of the north to the burning deserts of the south. Most
recently he was fluttering with his faerie wings through Hamsah
Mu'Taz. He really presented quite an unusual sight. Several of the
Sultan's spies had already reported him as being a stray ooze
elemental, but royal inquiry of that particular report resulted in a
littering of limbs and torsos on the street of Dahab. He himself had
been informed of a massing of witches on Mount Kiadana, but after
traveling there he found the entire place empty of them. However, he
knew they were close.

Gloomp drifted over the blue waters of the Aryth Ocean. He was easily
trackable by the line of dead fish and birds that marked his noxious
passing, yet he remained safe from tracking attempts for sharper
heavier reasons. He had his nose to the air, hoping to catch the stray scent
of fear and magic that often led him to his prey. Yet with his head tilted
back a different sense sent quite different impulses to his brain. He was
hearing the most pure and intoxicating music he had ever encountered. His
skin was instinctively stoning itself in places from the melody. Like a
paragon falcon, he zipped his way across the waters towards the source of the
sound. It didn't take long before he had come upon the legendary race of
creatures that inhabited the rocks of the mysterious Island, the Sirines.

Leucosia, Parthenope, and Ligia saw him coming and trembled with
anticipation. Each one with a different talent, they used them to
their fullest capability. Pathenope strummed her lyre like smooth silk on a
cool pillow, the sound was both relaxing and tantilizing with each pluck.
Ligia played a counter melody on her silver flute, the music reminding one of
a soft cool wind on a summer day. Leucosia sung in an unknown language in a
dialect that would make even the elves sound as brutish as orcs if they
attempted to use it.

The Stench that Silenced the Sirine's Song (Part 2)

Added Fri Jan 28 16:08:07 2011 at level 40:
Leucosia almost had this creature in her grasp, her song was so
hypnotizing that it was flying directly at her. She was getting ready
to sing her song of charming when she caught the smell emanating from
this creature and her silky song became violent retching. She vomited
fish and wine directly on to what she thought in a flash was a demon
sent straight from hell to collect her for her wrong doings. But
instead of death, she was embraced in a tight bear hug by a rotten
Svirfnebli who had never had a bath. 'Yu smell gud,' the creature said as he
sniffed at the vomit on his breastplate. He grinned at her
dumbly and she stared back at him aghast and unable to speak or move.
He began to scratch at his ever increasingly uncomfortable leggings,
from the inside, and launched his sure fire pickup line. 'I mus be a
witch cause I conjure a angel here.' He grinned at her again. Oddly of all
the things she could have said or even thought, she couldn't help but wonder
why this Svirf had a rat tail hanging out of his right nostril, and where the
rest of the rat was. Suddenly instinct took over. She fled. Her dress managed
to snag on an old deer antler at Gloomp's waist and ripped off as she began
to run. Gloomp stared open mouthed at the image. He began to chase her, but
he noticed two more women gazing at him wide eyed.

Gloomp grinned back at Parthenope proudly. It was obvious to him she
liked the bulge in his britches and wanted to explore her options, so
he went up to her. He reached out to caress her tenderly and she
shrieked and dropped her lyre. He picked it up, and attempted to pluck the
strings with passion and tenderness. 'Wut else yu gud at
stroking?' he asked as he began to frown down at the now ruined
strings of the instrument. When he looked up she was already swimming
away towards the ocean as fast as her lithe body would carry her.

Remembering the last Sirine, Gloomp turned to her. 'Yu mouth as gud at blowin
a-...' but he stopped. Ligia was laying still on her rocks. So overwhelmed
had she been when the winds shifted and carried the rancid smell of the
Gloomp to her that she passed out. Her red hair cascaded down her body and
her dress was slit up her thigh. Gloomp approached her, but he knew what
being a gentleman meant. Ligia awoke days later under the menstruations of
the sirine witch. The rape and foulness that had ensued from Gloomp's arrival
doubled in its atrociousness after Ligia went to relieve herself and shit a
diamond the size of a spear head. Truth be told though, Gloomp liked the
orcs better.
