Home Disorder

Gnimos rubbed his temples as he stared down at the yapping puppy below him. His
little brother had been gifted it for his 20th year day. He set his quill down
and stoppered the bottle of fresh black ink he had just unstoppered. No thinking
would be done this morning, again. Another unproductive morning of studies.
Always there were distractions in the home. His family cared nothing for his
need for consistent quiet, not understanding the importance of what he considers
his life's work. Learning! Absorbing knowledge. Gnimos loved books and taking
notes. Most recently he was learning of the constellations of Thera, studying
their habits and patterns. He had a tiny copper telescope he kept with him to
observe the stars. It was in no way suited for the task and barely gave more
depth to his observations, but it was his most prized possession.
Hillcrest Library Disorder
Added Thu Sep 3 13:24:23 2020 at level 15:
Gnimos gave an exacerbated sigh and stared up at the ceiling. He had come to the
library of Hillcrest to get AWAY from noise and distractions. He stared out the
window at other gnome children kicking a small leather ball through two metal
pins driven into the dirt. The constant clamor and of shouting and laughter
would drive him mad if he continued to try to study here, yet there was nowhere
else to go. The book he was looking into lately was on shapeshifting. Gnimos
often had thoughts of transforming himself into a bird and launching himself
into the sky to escape all the madness and noise of the world below. Perhaps he
could fly to the stars. Certainly he understand that idea does not hold water,
as from what he just read even shapeshifters must breathe. He speculated that
the air would eventually disappear as evidenced by those that have climbed the
highest peaks of various mountains and their accountings of the experience.
The Library of Hamsah Mu'tazz Disorder
Added Thu Sep 3 13:25:20 2020 at level 15:
As the alarm bells sounded, Gnimos hit his head with the small journal he was
reading in frustration. He could never get any work done! He had been apprentice
at the Library of Hamsah Mu'tazz for several months now. Instead of having time
to sit at an elaborate desk with papers neatly placed all around, however, it
seemed he was constantly chasing water buckets down to pour outside onto the
spreading fires of Hamsah Mu'tazz. Outlanders! Wild ones! Who in the WORLD would
devote their life to chaos and disorder? Who would even WANT that for
themselves? A spark was being ignited within Gnimos whether he knew it or not,
soon he was to be on the front lines of the battle between Order and Chaos.
Disorder to Order: Oath's to Umiron
Added Thu Sep 3 13:25:58 2020 at level 15:
Hard work and studies had finally paid off. He was officially an apprentice
shapeshifter with the Tower of High Sorcery. He had made a decision. He would
take the knowledge he learned from the Tower, keep his books, and expand his
lessons specifically in the guilds of Theran cities. He felt having a more broad
experience would help him develop a more intimate knowledge of his craft. He is
welcome at the Tower to participate in forums, or even rejoin and eventually
become a Master Shapeshifter and teacher himself, but he had made a promise he
must keep. Long ago in the library of Hamsah Mu'tazz he swore an oath to the
Ancient god Umiron. For just one year of peace and quiet he would devote his
life in service to Order, battling chaos and disruption wherever it was found.
With his knew knowledge in the guild and basic understanding of it's practices,
he has the tools at his disposal to make good on his oath.
Order-Mage
Added Thu Sep 10 03:04:17 2020 at level 51:
Tiny feet propped up on a stool that seems to have been made for a child. A
small set of spectacles resting on an over-sized nose. The nose is currently
buried in what appears to be a rather large book, almost as large as the gnome
holding it. The gnome appears at perfect peace. The book seems to be about
constellations of Thera and their locations in the universe. He traces a pattern
with a slender finger while idly thumbing a small telescope at his hip with his
other hand.
A cry is heard in the distance. 'Help! Bramon is attacking the guild!'
The energy around the gnome becomes visibly stirred. The book is slammed shut.
The glasses are carefully removed and tucked away into a leather satchel. A set
of iron manacles appear in the gnomes hands, magically contorting to be nearly
nearly as tall as he is in an almost comical fashion. He wields them with
practiced ease however. He jumps from the chair towards a window. In mid-flight
his shift contorts and shrinks. Tiny wings sprout from a now blueish-green body.
Darting with great speed for one so tiny towards the window, he glances back at
the empty chair just once. The hummingbird's eyes narrow with resolve as it
speeds towards the site of the disturbing commotion.
Gnimos is making good on his promise to Lord Umiron. He had his time to study
and absorb the knowledge required to become a Master Shapeshifter and he joined
the ranks of the Blood Tribunal. His life's focus is now being a devoted servant
to Order and Magic. He wars against the forces of Chaos and all it's dark
creatures. He sees no light or darkness, only Order and Disorder. He has taken
up the mantle of his Lord and sees his fight as an Ancient one.
He does not travel with or befriend any creature of chaos or person with chaotic
tendencies.
His enemies are those who encourage disorder and do not follow the rules of the
civil. Outlanders, Entropist, criminals. He has had many run-ins with the
Battlerager Village. Although he hunts them gladly due to their frequent crimes
and their hatred of magic, he does not focus on them as a true enemy. Given the
choice he would always hunt a criminal over a villager.
The politics of the Spire interest him. He has taken note of different opinions
of his peers with regards to law enforcement. The Provost Llyion at times does
things differently than Gnimos would, interpreting laws differently, but Gnimos
will enforce the rules as presented by the Provost gladly, as is his duty to
Order.
Gnimos seeks to become Vindicator of the Spire. He spends his time hunting
criminals and furthering Order when he is not studying books and improving his
knowledge of the guild and other interests. He praises Umiron regularly as he
pursues a life dedicated to seeking knowledge and restoring Order to Thera.
Rebirth of the Order-Mages
Added Sat Sep 12 15:36:11 2020 at level 51:
Citizens of Thera rejoice!
Five comets have blazed across the night sky of Thera, each taking its place in
the heavens as the Sentinel of Order is rebirthed. The disorder and chaos of the
ages pass and distort and rearrange the heavens with their coming. All may take
comfort in the fact that the original heavenly body, the Sentinel of Order, is
taking shape once more.
To welcome this happening I am preparing an elite cadre of Order-Mages. We will
work with each other to prepare for the coming of Order and banish the shadows
of Chaos.
The Blood Tribunal will certainly welcome new mage recruits and those will have
the favor of the Lord of Order certainly, but it is not required.
For more information on the reforming of the Order-Mages seek me out. Those
interested in joining the Spire are encouraged to pledge their loyalty sooner
than later. Working together we can bring Order to Thera and banish chaos and
disorder once more, forever.

Personality Traits, Philosophies on Order and Chaos
Added Sun Sep 13 13:38:08 2020 at level 51:
Order and magecraft are serious businesses. Gnimos still grumpily remembers all
the years in his youth that he spent never being allowed to concentrate. It
angered him then and it angers him now. The truth is Gnimos is a crotchety
fellow as he grows into his his now social position. He has a very low tolerance
for any shenanigans or disruptions. When criminals are out and about it is
extremely bothersome to him. He knows that someone somewhere is being disruptive
to the Order of their environment. He spends most of his time hunting criminals
or otherwise plotting their destruction. He does not mind using others to do so,
as long as they are not disorderly themselves.
He continues not to travel with those with chaotic and disorderly spirits, he
can sense such things when he judges them. He does not give them the time of
day. This has angered many people who would otherwise like to travel with Gnimos
and his companions, the High Herald for example. She clearly was not used to
being told 'no' as she was having such an angry meltdown that Gnimos' healer
friend Cedany left the party to go console her after a brief exchange the High
Herald had with Gnimos.
Gnimos has had some inquiries about the cadre of Order-Mages he is forming.
Gnimos' hope with this project is that eventually he will have a large enough
group to completely banish the Barons of Chaos and lay complete waste to the
Village of Battle, finishing what the Order-Mages of the first age both began
and attempted to end.
He continues to dutifully serve Lord Umiron in hopes of one day gaining his
favor. He watches the stars with both his own personal viewing glass as well as
the enormous telescope in Umiron's observational laboratory.
Gnimos takes pleasure in small things. In peace and quiet. In adventuring with
companions. His duty is not pleasurable, it is necessary. He will continue to
bring Order and justice. He will continue to bring a swift end to any who would
break laws.
He has been called an Imperial by his enemies already, as he does not mind
hunting with them when a criminal is present. He does not believe that Imperial
conquest and domination will lead to the destruction of chaos. He believes that
when you allow free citizens to have choice over their own actions they will
reveal their true selves. Either they will follow rules, or they will cause
disorder. The Empire seeks to bring fear and slavery through domination. When
you simply dominate chaos it bides its time and hides, revealing itself at the
first sign of weakness. When you allow choice you are able to eradicate chaos at
the root as soon as it is revealed rather than having it plot against you in the
interim.
Disorder to Order: Activity I
Added Mon Sep 14 16:30:04 2020 at level 51:
Greetings Magistrates,
During these turbulent and too often violent times within our cities it is
important that we stay extra sharp and vigilant. I have found during my watch
that at times I do not know the protected cities as well as I should. There are
twisting back alleys, various drops down into the sewage tunnels, and hidden
lofts in which criminals may hide from us that may prove difficult to find in a
hurry.
For this reason I would ask that any interested Magistrate may partake in a
Disorder to Order event over the course of the next few days. I will be coming
out of my own pocket to fund incentives to any Magistrate willing to find hidden
sums of gold in the following rooms:
Galadon:
A Small Loft
A Tiny, Crowded Room
Within a Dimly-Lit Library
Large Kitchen
The Courtyard
Hamsah Mu'tazz:
Bedroom
Secluded Bower
The Tower of Faith
Workshop
Barracks
Voralian City:
The Pilgrim's Hostel
The Chamber of Theocratic Triumvirate
The Divine
A Tiny Kitchen
The Lonely Saint
Seantryn Modan:
Seantryn Grove
A Small House
An Old Cemetary
Windflower Dining Hall
A Dark Alley
A split second of hesitation could be the difference between life and death to
citizens under our watch. We are the justice bringers, we are the peace keepers,
we are the hunters and quellers of disorder. It is our time to bring lasting
Order to Thera.
Disorder to Order Activity II: Observational Exercise
Added Sat Sep 19 23:31:25 2020 at level 51:
Citizens of Thera who are able to hold true to Order,
The forces of chaos gather, but Order-Mages such as myself and a rising number
of others are here to fight them back. During these violent and trying times
your sense of situational awareness could both save your life and bring your
disorderly aggressors to justice.
For this reason I am implementing an exercise to help you hoan this skill set
within yourself. Informally known typically as a scavenger hunt, this activity
will test your abilities of observation within the protected cities of Thera.
Below you will find clues that will lead you to seek out and recall various
focal points of the cities. Your answers and observations will be recorded in
writing and submitted to me, Gnimos, to be checked over for completion and
correct answers. The entry with the most correct answers will be awarded a
highly coveted prize by none other than the Witch of the Eternal Library,
Ishuli.
If you are disorderly of nature and are judged as a chaotic individual you are
not eligible to win this event and you are encouraged not to participate.
Please find the clues below:
Seantryn Modan
1. Here you will find ancient scrolls to build wisdom and large weights to build
strength, where is this?
2. What is against palace law and will be dealt with severely?
3. Minotaurs gather at the Inn to find work, only the strongest who can survive
dangerous work are hired. Who do they need to speak with to be hired on?
4. Eating this plant matter is a good way to burn out any poisons in your
system. What is it?
5. Where might you notice a large book open upon an old desk, names scrawled
throughout?

symbol of?
4. Three statuettes resting on a surface of jade. What do they represent?
5. A large apple tree casts shade over this area within the city of Galadon,
where is it?
Voralian City
1. Where might you find a cherub playing an instrument sounding songs of

2. You see a man stepping off of a ship, he wears an ivory tunic embroidered
with a circle of golden stars. He holds a large ceremonial sword. Where is this
particular man located?
3. The carpet before you bears the mark of the Island of Corte. You barely see
it amidst all the clutter, where is it?
4. A small altar dedicated to the gods of Order and Light. If you were to kneel
before it, what object sits atop the altar?
5. An embroidered grapevine design can be found on what worn garment?
Hamsah Mu'tazz
1. Over who's shoulder is the lion looking?
2. How would a citizen find out which of the 15 noble houses of Hamsah Mu'tazz
is currently holding the most favor of the Sultan?
3. The words 'Here, Lyria came to me, and taught me art.' are carved into what
piece of furniture?
4. Aziz the Mad has been spouting forth pseudo-philosophical babble for years
and years. Of what guild is he a member?
5. It takes 12 men to fell this creature whos flesh adds to the consumer's
sexual potency. What creature is it?
A tie will be determined by the best answer to the following question:
What is the greatest strategy the forces of Order can muster to defeat chaos in
Thera?

Updates on Order, the Spire, Activities, Religion
Added Sat Sep 26 07:52:56 2020 at level 51:
One week left to the deadline of his observational training exercise and from
his own observations nobody has even begun to participate. Do they not realize
the benefits such activities have on their own training and situational
awareness? If every person in Thera were more observant they wouldn't have to be
as worried about being murdered, robbed, or pillaged and his life would be
easier.
He is Vindicator of the Spire now. A very esteemed position to hold and one that
allows him to flex the talons of Justice and Order efficiently. He noticed an
immediate impact upon promotion to the position. The Spire went from rarely
holding the Scales of Justice to nearly always holding the Scales of Justice. It
is a rarity to see a criminal out of hiding and freely walking in Thera, much
less in any city.
That being said, he is concerned about the Provost of the Spire. The Provost
holds on to his position as if it something to be coveted rather than an actual
functioning leadership role. Llyion has obsessed about his growing age and his
anger at others trying to remove him from his role as Provost. Llyion has stated
the majority of his role as Provost is to read notes and respond to them, and
often can be found waking only to do just that then shuffling back into his
chambers. Gnimos provides support for the enfeebled old elf as he can, but has
noticed him misplacing flags because he was not up to date on his Outlander list
as well as inducting Magistrates simply because they asked to be Magistrates.
These lapses of judgement give Gnimos a great lack of confidence in the future
of the Spire, especially as he already disagreed with certain interpretations of
Law the Provost shared.
That being said, Gnimos understands his role as Vindicator and the expectations
of that position. In his free time when no criminals are present he continues to
think of ways to increase Order in the world, promote Magic in the world, and to
recruit new Magistrates while training existing Magistrates. Although not a
leader himself, Gnimos will continue to lead by example and encourage Llyion and
any Provincial promoted towards a greater sense of Order and coordination.
He continues to pray to Umiron. He fancies himself an Order-Mage and often
fantasizes of going back in time to the Great Wars when it was simply Order vs.
Chaos. He wonders what fighting alongside a Mortal Umiron at the time could have
looked like and whether he himself would have made any sort of a greater impact
on the great wars. He did not draw any interest from the mage population of
Thera for any to join him in his quest to restore Order-Mages, though he himself
continues to shun all things chaos and exclude disorderly persons from any of
his adventures.
