Description
Beautiful plumage of varying colors dazzles the eye that regards this avian
sorcerer. There are feathers of every color accenting a predominately purple
bird. He has curiously black eyes that project intelligence and a confident
air that seems to belie the relatively youthful look of Goghom. He is of
average build and height for his kind and though not particularly
strong-looking he has a spryness that speaks to a life on the move.
Curiously, while he wears the expected mishmash of wizardly garb the way in
which he wears it is odd. You could, perhaps, describe that oddness as
"vintage."
Role
Saving Thera, Saving Thar-Eris, Or Not... (Part 1)
Added Sun Nov 18 15:00:51 2018 at level 2:
The Dread Sorcerer Adept Goghom Novassun glided through his laboratory on
steady wings. His beak clicked with magical chirp after chirp. His
finger-like avian claws danced through an endless serious of complicated
symbols. Magic permeated the air. He was a Master of the Five Magics
desperately weaving the spell that would save the world, or be his demise.
The Lich Valguarnera existed somewhere between the undeath of mortal lichdom
and being a full-fledged god. Goghom thought he'd gone insane. He had
uncovered a plot the depth of which he was uncertain. It seemed Valguarnera
conspired against the Tower itself to its probable ruin. Goghom had to stop
it.
While the Tower as a whole engaged in a Magic vs. Nature war, Goghom had
learned a great deal from Sylvan witches and animists. Goghom believed Magic
and Nature to be two sides of the same coin, each growing in strength
commensurate with the other. In fact, he believed that Magic had never been
stronger than in the primitive ages of Thar-Eris. And the Dread Sorcerer
Adept knew this at a time when all of Thera had forgotten even the name of
Thar-Eris. That was why this spell had to work.
Powerful though he was Goghom knew he lacked the strength to confront
Valguarnera. Time was of the essence. He needed to subvert the lich's plans
before it was too late. Unfortunately for the Dread Sorcerer Adept, rushing
and magic never belong together.
The spell he wove was one to bend time and space. The exact workings of the
incantation are long forgot, but it was a combination of transmutation magic,
animism and biomancy that he believed would essentially reset the clock and
send Thera (and importantly, the Tower) back into the Primordial Age of
Thar-Eris.
Things started going badly from the start. The incantation was large,
unwieldy and beyond his skill. Where he should have applied finesse, he
instead applied brute force. In the end, he did not move the world through
time. He only moved himself. And all that brute force wound up causing him to
overshoot his mark. He sent himself so far back in the Wheel of Time that he
ended up in what would be, to him, the future and, to us, the present.
Bad magic is not without a price. Not all of the Dread Sorcerer Adept came
with him. His physical body was fully intact. To his good fortune it had
returned him physically to his teens. But, to his great misfortune, it had
returned his mind there as well.
His memories were lost. He could not recall where he'd come from, how he was
born, who he was born to or even the Master's Tower and everything he'd
learned within it. These were replaced with vague memories, just clear enough
for him to recognize that ...something... had changed.
Saving Thera, Saving Thar-Eris, Or Not... (Part 2)

What remains of him is just an impression of what he was and an inclination
to act as he once did. His first magic had been invocation so he returned to
it as a neophyte. He'd been trying to return Thar-Eris in the belief it would
make his magic stronger and so he finds himself seeking the Outlanders with
the belief that if he can aid the Ancient's Rise his magic will become
stronger.
There is one problem. He cannot hold on to memories of people, places and
events. Every time he sleeps deeply and slips from the realm in his slumber
he reawakens with practically no recollection of what he has learned about
this new world.
