Description
A squat dark-skinned duergar is here. Standing just over four feet in height.
Thick heavy eyebrows frame deep sunken eyes. Within can a pair of
heavy-lidded dark eyes be seen. Seemingly somewhat thinner than his regular
kin, he is still well rounded around the shoulders and arms. Thick beard of a
grey colour flows down into a point, seemingly oiled. If standing there is a
stoop to his posture, which accentuates a discreet hunchback.

Olin sat a mug infront of the bard and gazed across the almost empty Inn,
Quiet tonight he muttered. The bard nodded and strummed his lute. The
crackling of fire could be heard well across the muted voices of the Inn.
Frowning slightly the bard looked up at Olin; Perhaps a tale then, to pass
the time. Olin shrugged non-commitantly. A tale not well known but of greed,
power and lots of death, the bard said. Have heard them all before, Olin
sighed, but do go on. With that the bard brought the lute up and starting
strumming a faint haunting tune.
Two elves found a tiny duergar baby in a forest
With two quick glances they the baby from its rest
For these two a baby was much desired
And from them a own could not be sired
This blinded them to a simple truth
It was a baby duergar with a sharp tooth
The village of elves was quite annoyed
but tempered and agreed when they saw how the elves were overjoyed
This though not a tale of love conquers all
Is of evil greed and how elven villages fall
Early on the baby cooed and cute
The greed and darkness within mute
Soon the baby walks and is instead a small child
When takin toys from others its evil is called mild
For the parents eyes still blind
to the greed and evil duergar growing mind
Soon first blood is seen
As the now named Gohred struck a child on the forest green
The only offence, was having a plaything
that Gohred himself wanted and from the other wring.
Excuses from parents was made
even though the village was dismayed
Lords in anger came to see the village
and told; duergar can only pillage
The growing duergar the parents tried to shield
But lasted mere moments when lords their power wield

The bard sighed and stopped a moment. The faintest corners of Olins mouth
twitched into a smirk, perhaps a little work is needed- he pointed out. The
bard grunted and sat down next to the fire, his cup refilled with warm wine.
Yes, he said, not quite what I was going for. Let me try a different style
and motioned for Olin to sit down next to the crackling fire. Looking
intently into the flames the bard once more took up his tale.
The lords anger was heavy and the village trembled before it. Though the
parents was blind to the youth it could not be denied, his evil nature shone
for those watching close enough. No matter how they pleaded on their knees,
the lords was adamant that the foul soul meet his death. What happened then
is unclear, though death of elves, parents and blood all over the duergar is
clear. Tales that he murdered his parents, the lords did are all valid. It
matters not, for something of upbringing remained. The desire of lords will
and power, having it flow through him. The need and greed for divine power
lies beneath the dark skin and drives him.
About Gohred so far

- Growing in a village of elves the coarse nature of duergar is tempered
within Gohred. Though It does come out he can sometimes ponder and not
instantly lash out. Also it affects his speech and less of his kins way of
talking, even though it can seep through.
- Want drives him. For now it is unclear what he actually wants. Gold, power
of creatures, fear of enemies, envy of allies, disciples of his own...all
lure at him. Though there is no clear goal as of yet in his mind. Only thing
is a greed and want, of what will be seen.
- Seeking out religion seemed natural, and seeking a lord closely tied to his
wants. This is probably rooted in his upbringing where divine powers where
wielded through priest on a daily basis. As such he craves it, perhaps even
to find more direction in life.

So what next for our duergar, the innkeeper said.
Not sure, have not decided yet- the bard answered musingly. His prayers go
unanswered, for what he has failed to realise is that when he prostrates
himself in the church, his lord of greed is indulging himself at other places.
Not sure how long I shall keep it so. The bard sighed ruefully as he
continued. Perhaps a quite a bit more, should keep it interesting.
Furthermore, I am thinking his greed shall turn towards Empire. More
specifically the emperor position- the bard added with a another swig of his
drink. The innkeeper nodded- Perhaps that would work, though unsure if his
praises of Morius shall go so well in front of the Empire lords. Do continue
with that, the innkeeper said. Lets hear how it sounds.
