Description

This gnome's eyes are weary and cold. His face looks quite old for a gnome but there are signs that he is still youthful. His skin has a very faint blue coloring to it as if he is growing ill. His gray hair is worn in a short pony tail. His body is scarred from years of service to the Spire. He looks to be 3 foot 3 inches and seems to be a little overweight. He wears the badge of a magistrate of galadon next to his badge from hillcrest. A slightly dark magical aura surrounds him at all times.

Gorliz was born to his mother a healer who was blessed by Marcartis and his
father a warrior who was a chosen follower of Rayihn. He gained a strong
respect for the religions of Thera and also for the laws. He eventually
became a guard within hillcrest but he found he couldn't afford to pay others
to aid him in his studies as it was dangerous outside hillcrest.

He decided that he would become an adventurer so that he would be strong
enough to protect himself while studying magic and religion in Thera. He
decided he would be a defensive shifter as it seemed the best root to keep
himself from harm. His intentions started out just to learn to protect
himself and fund his own endeavors but during his time within the towns
studying. 

He found his studies always disturbed by the noise of crimes and the fires
of the outlanders burning down his homes. He would always be set back to
hillcrest by the constant destruction of his things. He started to think less
selfishly as he remembered his old duties as a guard. He had become a bit
obsessed with understanding that he forgot that others mattered. 

He decided then that he would join the Spire so that he could help protect
those of the towns of Thera. He wanted to make it so others can study and
learn in peace. He spent a lot of time studying the laws and during his time
he met several different people of different faiths. After a long time his
continued interest in general religions of Thera gained more strength. He
decided that he would seek out the gods of Thera and learn of their
religions.

He seeks to enlighten himself to all the religions because he wants to find
a way to stop people from fighting in the streets through peace. He doesn't
mind fighting but it isn't shouldn't be the answer for everything. Diplomacy
should be the first option.

Gorliz has become more of a fighter recently due to the constant fighting
within Galadon. He is becoming more inclined to war and fighting. He is
starting to feel more distant from his old scholarly ways but he still
retains a healthy sense of curiousity. He is feeling like the world is
against him and that all he can do is fight yet he has to fight within the
rules. He is falling into a deep depression and he is starting to doubt his
worth to the Spire. He feels he is too guided by emotions. 


He wants to start his pilgrimage but he has been too caught up with the war
on crime lately. He is a bit excited about the possiblity of becoming a
Provincial but he doesn't think the Provost likes him. He also is upset that
Purmodin may be dying soon due the constant village attacks. He is excited
for war with the village.

Another small Update

Added Thu Oct 11 21:32:30 2012 at level 51:

Gorliz has calmed down a lot since all the fighting with the village. He no
longer is guided as much by his emotions and tries to give advice. He feels
as if he is really coming into his own. His new goals are to become the
Vindicator at some point. He is becoming curious about shapeshifting and his
body. He wants to understand transformation magic better and has decided to
try and turn himself into a woman..and back to a man.

He thinks by doing this he may find something different about his magics
that he hasn't figured out yet. He likely will just turn into a woman and
suffer for it but who knows. He has started drinking a bit to help relax
after duty..and during duty. He is happy the troublesome villagers are dead.

The descent into darkness.

After speaking with Rachiel and Quelzal he figured out that he wasn't
changing himself into a woman to understand his magic further. He was doing
it to change himself because he feel he has corrupted the reasons he came to
the Spire. He came to protect and now as he does is kill. He had two choices
in his mind. One was to leave the Spire and the other was to stop caring for
anyone's life. 

He believes that he can better protect others by turning himself into a
killer. He is going to give his soul to darkness in order to be a better
hunter of criminals and in his mind a better Magistrate. He has slowly been
moving toward the darkness with his distaste for the Fortress and all the
fighting has been eating at him soul. The feeling of hopelessness hangs over
him yet he puts on a smile for his friends.

He is hoping that they won't see his falling into the darkness until it is
too late so they cannot stop him. He wants this so he can stop feeling
something for those he kills. He is going to change himself into a monster
for the better of the people of Thera. May his family and his ancestors
forgive him for disgracing himself. He has given up on the religions in Thera
and will focus himself on the Spire wholly.

The Dark Embrace.

He asked the Advisor for aid in turning his soul to the darkness. He is wary
and doesn't trust her one little bit. He went and did many things she asked.
Murdered a child, went to the darkest place he knew (Maethien) and allowed
darkness into his body, he murdered an innocent soul just for an item to
represent his future rise to power, and finally he must trick one of the
light into trusting him then killing him.

Klik killed herself and he is starting to see now that he must make himself
more powerful in order to keep at this war. He feels he should be more active
with hunting and kill savages and feels that those of the Fortress deserve
nothing but death and suffering of their own.

Demotions, Promotions, and Emotions.

Gorliz doesn't mind being demoted especially with the prospect of promotion
soon. He has ajusted well to the darkness within himself but is still trying
to figure out how to keep the maran off his back. He knows they only dare
attack him because he is weak right now. He is still feared by the village
atleast so they will stay in line.

He is happy that he kept his job and that the Provost trusts him. He is
going to have to pick his fights accordingly until he gets his magic back. He
won't be fighting Oshui until he can fly. It is too risky for him to be
tripped to death. It hurts his pride to have to hide but he will continue to
try to fight the best he can.


Jawn was trying to get him to find faith in Fjarn. He keeps telling him
fate is in his hands and that he should atleast speak to Fjarn. He knows his
path in the future is going to be rough so he will go to talk to him if only
to understand what Jawn is talking about. Fate isn't something that Gorliz
understands well.
