Description
A large mass of muscle and sinew is before you.Coming in well over 14 feet
height, this pale skinned giant towers over all around him. He wears a
tabard of exquisitely pressed linen with the sigil of a lion and ram
emblazoned on it. He wears a padded gambeson underneath, also extremely well
maintained. He stands with a firm rigidity that only comes with years of
dedicated military service. Blue hair, tightly bound on his head can be seen
beneath the edges of his helm. A pair of cold steel eyes peer from beneath a
firm, yet calm brow. His face has been carefully groomed and completely free
of a beard.
Role
The beginning

Risen from the ranks of the Galadonian city guard, Greandin was trained as a
first responder to any and all emergencies that may arise in the city. From
goblins sneaking in from the south, wildlife from the west, bandits from the
east, or wandering drunken adventurers from the north. He was raised to
follow orders, obey his superiors, and hold himself controlled at all times.
Graendin took to the life of a soldier naturally. The discipline was
soothing to him, brought regularity and calm to his life. A soldiers life
was his, and he embraced it.
During a suprise incursion by goblins from the south of Galadon, his troop
was ambushed and massacred. Greandin was left wounded on the field, bleeding
in the forest of Silverwood. A passing priest coming from the keep deep in
the southern mountains found him and brought him on his cart to the Paladins
guild in Galadon. Through weeks of treatment, prayer, and recovery, Greandin
was introduced to the life of dedication the brothers of the paladin guild
maintained. He was preached to of the Jaguar god of dedication.
When recovered, he resigned his post in honor with the Galadonian militia,
and took up full time apprenticeship with the paladin guild. And now, he
sets forth to seek his god, and his life of dedication to mastering himself,
as well as the eradication of those who would bring darkness into the world.
The journey continues

The journey begins
Greandin sought far to the east to find the shrine of the Lady Baerinika the
goddess of courage, combat, purity, and dedication. After a number of
harrowing attempts, he was able to kneel at her feet. In his life, Greandin
had kept an absolute focus on dedication. Dedication to whatever task was at
hand with no wavering. It felt to "dedicate" oneself was the absolute key to
all. From his early days in the military it was drilled into him to obey, to
follow orders, and be dedicated to the defense of Galadon.
As he stood in review of his goddess, she approved of him, for now...but
tasked him with considering the value of courage, combat, and purity...not
just a sole focus on being dedicated. Greandin accepted his guidance with
stoic appreciation, and left her shrine blessed and approved.
In the time since, Greandin has advanced much in his guild through taking on
difficult journies with friends, allies, and at times alone against the dark.
has fallen in combat to berserked and wild orcs, but never lost his
faith. He has found new found courage in feeling the presense of his lady
with him as he sommons her powers.
His dedication became whole, complete, and unrelenting during a battle with a
terrible sea creature. His fellows had fled, and he was left, lost, and
alone. The beast bore down on him, but through the sanctuary of his Lady,
her healing, and her wrath, he came through triumphant. He was bloodied,
beaten, but he stood.
Now Greandin sets his sights on completing the task set before him, to study
the other tennants of his Ladys governance. He has heard of a fortress in
the lands, who's squires and scribes stand firm against the darkness that
engulfs the land. The work is plentiful, the harvest is ripe, and thus
Greandin continues his journey.

The Fortress
De'Luna pledged his service to the Fortress of the light. His introduction
was bloody, and violent. His interview took place during, and right after an
unsuccessful raid by Imperial forces. De'Luna fell to the enemy, but he
stood his ground.
Having not known the joys of childhood and being thrust into military service
at a young age, Greandin has been learning to appreciate "friendship". Not
just brothers in arms, but actual friendship. He has begun traveling at
times with a brother Storm giant. The two have been on a number of daring
adventures together. While Greandin struggles with understanding comraderie,
his new friend has been quite patient. This new "friend" has also taken to
teaching him much about the landscape...how to travel places, how to gear for
war, and how to enjoy the journey.
Duty to his Lady and the Fortress is still the center of the life of Greandin
De'Luna, but his eyes are being opened to friendship and fellowship The
protection of ones friends, and the strength found in more than a shield
wall.
The struggles

days have carried on, and the struggle continues.
has fallen into some anguish as he received word that his closest
friend and brother in arms faramond had fallen in battle, never to be
returned by the gods. He looks on the notes on the rear of his shield that
he etched during their many travels and adventures together with sadness, but
with the warm comfort of rememberance. He was bless by his Lady to
have had such a brother in his life.
with seeking knowledge about his fears, Greandin has prayed and
meditated long. He has found his answer.
has two fears:
1. That his Lady will find him weak, and unworthy
to carry her name into battle. While he does not shrink from battle, he is
required to temper his eagerness to prove his worth with the knowledge that
his enemies would use this as a weakness to draw him into unwinnable battles.
2. That he will fail his brothers and sisters in arms in their time of
need. One moment that sears in his soul occured when he and his brother
Faramond were exploring a strange dreamland. They were unprepared for
combat as they looked at the strange sights of this land. An enemy appeared
suddenly and Faramond gave the order to retreat. As the last word of prayer
left Greandins lips and he slipped through space to his home, his eyes
caught a glimpse of Faramond being put to sleep by their foe. As he
appeared in Galadon his screams were already leaving his mouth as he thought
of his brother left to die. Though reassured that he had done nothing
wrong, and simply folowed orders as he should have...the image of leaving a
brother behind is now etched in his soul.
Growth
Added Mon Apr 10 09:57:53 2023 at level 51:
Greandin has continued to learn and develop in his time in the Fortress. He
has seen friends and allies fall into the Azure fields, and he has seen
enemies vanquished into the abyss.
Through travels with his fellows of the fortress he has learned to set aside
seeing himself merely as a soldier, but as an individual. He hs allowed to
have his own wants, needs, desires. But the training of his youth in the
militia of Galadon is still embedded deep. He strictly follows orders and
the directives of those above his rank.
Greandin has learned to back down from fights he cannot possibly win, but at
times stands when he should flee because he has learned that one of his fears
is being seen as a coward, or having the fortress seen as those who will not
stand. He has trust in his Lady that as long as he follows her will, she
will return him to the world to continue his struggle.
Strengh and doubt

Time continues to pass, and the strength of the Fortress increases. The
ranks swell with squires, scribes, acolytes, and Maran alike. The squire
Greandin marches on.
To prove his worth, and attain the rank of Maran, it was tasked to Greandin
to become a source of inspiration and knowledge for the younglings of the
Fortress. A task complicated by the fact that most recruits have been well
versed in the lands and in combat. The grizzled soldier Greandin does what
he must, and assists where he can. He is a soldier, after all.
Greandin has spent much time traveling, learning, and exploring in order to
make himself a more formidable bastion of light for the Fortress. He has
learned of apothecaries far and wide that hold elixers that can be used for
battle. He has sought new weapons to wield against the darkness that comes
in its many forms.
He does not waver in his dedication to his Lady of the Jaguar...but he is
coming to the realization that becoming a Maran may be out of his reach. The
ranks swell, and battles rage, and the shield bearer fails to stand out
amongst his brethren. On one hand, it bothers him, as he wishes to please
his Lady. But on the other, he finds great joy in the accomplishments of his
brothers in arms knowing that their victories further the battle against the
darkness.
The end?
Added Mon May 22 00:50:28 2023 at level 51:
The months drag on...the war rages. Greandin has seen brothers and sisters
rise through the ranks, and he has seen them fall.
He is growing weary of the battle. His mantle rests heavily on his
shoulders.
New recruits join the fortress...some filled with fervor and zeal for the
battle.Others join with power and strength as their desire.
He speaks his reluctance, and is silence.
One particular recruit wears him down...a specific invoker who speaks as if
they are Maran. As if they have been waging this war for years. When all
they have done is sit in a comfortable study somewhere reading texts. He
makes open criticism of Greandin, for all to see. questioning his decisions
in battle. He, a squire, acts as a Maran...no...as the Marshall himself. He
knows not his place. And the fact that none care grates on Greandins nerves.
More and more as he takes the battle to the enemies of the light does he wish
that the Jaguar would simply consume him...and relieve him from these
upstarts.
Bitter...bitter is the word that would describe the mind of Greandin these
days. Long days of battle. Death, destriction. Friends falling all around.
now, his own battle "brothers" seem his greatest foes...
The day cometh...
