Description

Before you stands a felar of medium height and stocky build. His face is covered with light golden fur and the fur on his head is a slightly darker gold. The fur on his arms and legs is the same color as his facial hair, but it is much thicker where it sticks out from his equipment. His arms and legs are muscular and bulging under his armor. The claws on his feet and hands have been sharpened to make them more deadly. His eyes are the color of the blackest opals with a small hint of red around the irises. He has a ready smile with his front teeth sticking a little bit over his bottom lip. He carries a polearm across his back and his hands clench and unclench as he stands here, looking ready for anything. As you look closer you notice that..

Role

A Letter To His Teacher

Added Mon Nov 2 21:19:24 2009 at level 51:
Greetings Teacher and Friend,

I am forever humbled at the treatment I received as a young fela at your
feet. You always treated me well and raised me to know many things. I
appreciate that you instilled in me a desire for courage and determination.
Life is a hard road sometimes, full of many trials that test the very heart
of any fela. Ive come to know many along the way, though a few I grew with
have already taken their lives. The village can be a cruel master to some,
though Ive certainly found it to be a good home. I have tried to continue
in my teachings about the ways of warfare and of the village. I also have
tried to keep looking into places unknown that I might learn more of these
lands.

As far as my guild goes Ive spent a great deal of time with the polearm.
Ever since escaping from Graghok Ive never felt like I could put that aside.
a polearm has been a very rewarding process. I also learned how to
use my claws to greater effect when fighting against the mages of these
lands. In my travels and experiences I also came to know two teachings of
the Macalla. They have greatly aided me in areas where my ability could use
aide. I first learned to strike as hard as possible, and hardened my already
strong claws and arms to strike harder than most fela can. It was then that
I took upon the teachings of the Incarnadine Wave to learn precise strikes.

It did not take long from that time to be able to face those who oppressed me
as a child. I first put that mage Brensen to the claws and forced him to
speak of the misdeeds of my youth. He told me that the felar chieftain had
agreed to let the ten of us fela children be given over to keep peace with
the frost giants! I also put his companion Graghok before my halberd and
felled them both. I had my revenge on them, as it was deserved for their
foul deeds. I then went and confronted the felar chief. He was less than
willing to admit his foul deeds and pleaded as I beat him senseless that he
was doing what was best for the fela. As he was within an inch of his life I
asked him who my mother was. He was not certain, but believed she had taken
up the spear in her grief and been slain fighting a mammoth for its fur. I
dispatched his life at that point. It is certainly true that finding answers
was satisfying in many ways, but it will never bring back my mother or my
childhood. I fight now for all of my kin, that they will not endure the pain
I did. They need an example. Pray to the gods for me Jaragh that I might be
that vessel of strength and endurance!

May the fires purify me as I grow!

A Letter To A Mentor

Added Sat Oct 31 23:12:14 2009 at level 51:
Greetings Thrym,

It has been too long since we have had the ability to talk with one another.
It seems like only yesterday that Jaragh was leading me down that street in
Balator to find you. So many months of practice and training. I apologize
for not writing to you sooner to tell you of the things that have been going
on. I have my suspicions that you already know some of these things, but
Ill tell you just in case. After you enrolled me in my teaching in
Blackclaw I decided to continue on my path toward becoming a Battlerager. I
was able to kill a shapeshifter who was in the form of an ant. Tahren was
pleased Thrym, and he allowed me to swear on BoltThrowers axe that I would
be part of the village. After speaking with Tahren I began to seek out a
number of villagers for their approval. I quickly gained the approval of a
few like my friend Azemaelor and the MageSlayer Qrikot. I was also able to
get Orilin and Fulgrum to show support for me as well.

It was not long after this that I sought out the hut of the Sublime Lady as
she had shown herself to us in the heavens. I had to wait outside of her hut
for a short time. It is on the side of a mountain and the path to it is
bloodied by battles gone by. It was a fitting place for me to wait. I was
fine as I have spent much time in the frigid parts of these lands. The
conversation was good and the Lady Yean called me out on a few things from my
early days walking the lands. I left her hut knowing exactly what I must do
when I find a mage. There is no redemption for any mage, this much was made
clear to me. Anyway, after a good talk and some other things the Sublime
Lady herself granted me a but in the village! How great is that! I was
flattered to say the least. I just wanted you to hear the news for yourself
from me. Keep teaching those young ones our ways my friend. I will be
writing to Jaragh soon as well, and I will ask him to share with you. Please
share any of this that you want with him, though I dont think he would want
to hear about some things.

May the fires purify us as we grow!

The Fela With Golden Fur Grows Up

Added Mon Oct 12 21:54:38 2009 at level 21:
A few years have passed since the fela with golden fur lead his kin away from
the clutches of slavery. He was instead brought to a school, a school for
orphans. There a kindly Knight took him in and began to teach him about the
world beyond what he had known. He also sees the fire within the boy and so
takes him to Thrym to learn a thing or two about fighting. Thrym takes to
the young fela and notices his desire to fight with polearms. Thrym realizes
how unorthodox it is for a fela to wield such a weapon, but does not wish to
dissuade the boy from his desire. He begins to get to know the boy and
eventually the lad tells Thrym his story. Thryms normal grin is replaced
with a thin angry frown. He stands and beckons the boy to follow him. They
pack their bags and head out on a trip.Thrym takes the boy with golden fur
to the Inn of the Eternal Star and they get a room for the evening. That
next morning Thrym leads him to the Lyceum and there shows the boy the
history of the Battleragers. An eager expression comes over the face of the
boy and he asks Thrym to teach him more. It is then that Thrym leads the boy
to Tahren and the two speak for a long time. Thrym then leads the boy to the
town next door to the ruins where Tahren is and enrolls him in the school of
warriors. He pats the boy with golden fur on the head one last time and bids
him farewell.

Months go by and the boy has learned much, he has gotten into many a brawl
with the mage students of Blackclaw, and a story was told of one that he
slayed on eastern road. It is not long after this the boy makes his way to
Tahren and kneels before him, swearing an oath to rid the land of magic.

Growwlis Goldenpaw has come to the village.

The Moment Comes (2)

Added Mon Oct 12 21:52:56 2009 at level 21:
The group make their way out into the snowy night, and disappear from sight,
the heavy snow covering their tracks. It is cold and the group must stick
closely together to keep from becoming too cold, their thick uncut fur a help
in this weather. As they make their way through the night a peculiar light
can be seen. They approach the light warily but notice a group of dwarves
sitting about it. They stumble into the light of the dwarves and with a
startled oath the dwarves stand up, mugs in hand. The children are trembling
and collapse at the feet of the party. One of the dwarves looks at their
battered and scarred frames and realizes quickly that these children were
slaves. He sends one of the others off to get help. The dwarves help move
the children near the fire so as to stay warm and take up their weapons as a
shield in the night. That next morning a group of dwarves arrive and with
makeshift stretchers take the children away to the north, far from the frigid
wastes.

The Moment Comes (1)

Added Mon Oct 12 21:52:23 2009 at level 21:
A few weeks has gone by and the two magi enter the caves to perform their
next round of experiments. They head over to a very small fela that is
resting on his bunk. They grab him by the arm but the fela with golden fur
stands and requests that they take him instead. It is clear that an
experiment on the small fela would kill him right now, and the golden furred
fela is stronger. The little fela is cast aside and collapses in a heap. He
looks up in time to make eye contact with the golden furred fela. The fela
with golden fur gives him a pleasant grin and winks at him. The fela stops
grinning as he is dragged away and clear look of determination enters his
eyes. Moments later angry shouts can be heard in the other room as they are
clearly upset that regardless of what they do the fela with golden fur
doesnt cry out in pain.

Hours go by and the fela with golden fur is dragged nearly lifeless from the
cave. He is thrown to the ground near the fire and the shaman approaches
him. The shaman lays his hands upon him and holy strength infuses his body.
He remains unmoving for a few moments and the other fela children gather
about him. He quickly rises to his feet and cries out "now." He grabs the
end of a burning timber and wields it like a polearm, quickly setting the fur
of the shaman on fire. Two of the other stronger children push their wooden
bunks over and the fela with golden fur quickly sets them ablaze, creating a
wall of fire between them and the magi. They dont have long as Brensen
begins to cast his arms about, snow gathering near his palms. The fela with
golden fur acts quickly and pulls a crude map from under his bunk. He tosses
the burning log aside and they all make a run for the cavern entrance. As
they go the fela with golden fur grabs a real polearm that is on a weapon
rack and wields it in front of him. He charges the lone sentry at the
entrance to the cave, quickly knocking the breath from his body with the
blunt end of this polearm.

The Fate of the Children

Added Mon Oct 12 21:50:27 2009 at level 21:
Not far from the encampment snow falls outside the entrance of large cavern.
Within the caves a small fire can be seen with ten little baskets around it.
In each basket is one of the stolen fela children. They are being tended to
by other fela who clearly are working with the giants who linger nearby. The
mage Brensen enters the cave with the Anti-Paladin Frost Giant, Graghok.
They come to one of the first baskets of children and take the child with
them. They move further within the chasm and you can hear the crying of a
small child. The uncanny and unbearable crying of a hurt child. Whatever is
going on in there is clearly not in the best interest of the child. After a
few more moments Brensen comes back out and places the child back in his
basket. A few moments later a felar shaman steps to the basket and imbues
the child with energy, healing it rapidly of its wounds. It would seem that
Brensen and Graghok clearly intend to use these children for vile reasons.

Weeks, months, and years go by and the children grow older. They are old
enough now to understand what is happening to them, but they are all very
much afraid of the two magi. They also know that to cry out only brings the
whip before being healed, so they do their best to hold back their screams.
As you look about at the ten bunks you notice that each of the fela clearly
have some scars from their tortures. Most of them will only keep their eyes
on the floor, all except for one. This one instead keeps his eyes level, his
golden fur reflecting the light of the flames. He is clearly not afraid of
these bastards. Instead he channels his anger and rage into an overwhelming
fire that burns within. He is clearly keeping tabs of everything that goes
on, looking for his opportunity.

Taken Into Slavery

Added Mon Oct 12 21:49:10 2009 at level 21:
A few days have gone by since Brensen appeared in the encampment. Night has
fallen in the frigid lands and few are walking about in the cold twilight. A
number of small figures cloaked in dark clothing make their way swiftly from
shadow to shadow. They seem to know exactly which tents to stop at as they
move with precision to a number of them within the encampment. The glint of
metal can be seen as they each produce a dagger from their robes and quickly
cut a slit in the tent walls. At precisely the same time they each sneak
into the tent that they have cut a slit in. Moments later the figures emerge
with a small bundle in their arms. They hold the bundles carefully and
quickly move back they way they came, avoiding the sentries who roam about
protecting the encampment at night.

A few hours go by and now the sun is beginning to dawn. As the light gives
way to more and more movement within the camp a horrible wailing can be heard
rising up from the tents. Sentries quickly run to each tent to inquire of
the problems and are greeted at the door by the mistress of the home. They
tell the sentries that their youngest children are missing. The sentries are
alarmed and go running back to the center of the encampment to make the chief
aware of the abductions. As ten sentries arrive at the chiefs tent they
each take a moment to tell their stories. As the first and then the second
sentries share their stories it becomes clear to the rest of them that they
are all here for the same reason. A horrible crime has been committed
against their people. The chief feigns surprise and calls for his best
trackers to come to the tent. As the trackers arrive they are told of the
terrible news and bade to go and find the culprits.

A few days go by and the trackers begin to return to the encampment, hungry
and upset. They clearly have found no sign of where the children went. The
only thing they do know is that the giants would not let them search their
caves for the missing children. This did not surprise them, as the giants
have never been friendly to the fela living in these frigid lands. So it is
with a heavy heart, or at least acting as if he has one, that the chief calls
off the search for the children and instead decrees a week of mourning for
them.

A Deal Made (2)

Added Mon Oct 12 21:47:54 2009 at level 21:
Brensen looks to the chief and then produces a document that appears to have
been written in a very large hand. It seems to be a list of things that
Graghok is demanding. The chief reads the list and clearly is shaken. He
trembles with anger, but keeps his thoughts to himself as he realizes the
alternative. A spark of delight enters Brensens eye as he can read the body
language of the chief. A small flame appears above one of his fingers and he
winks at the chief. The chief reluctantly reads over the list again, and
holds his hand out for a pen. He writes some instructions on the letter and
hands it back to Brensen with a trembling hand. Brensen smirks and tucks the
letter back into his robes as he lifts his hood to shield his face from the
cold.

A Deal Made (1)

Added Mon Oct 12 21:47:24 2009 at level 21:
A light snow falls on the encampment as the wind blows from the frigid west
chilling the very air. A small figure in dark black robes makes his way
escorted by two massive blue figures. Each giant holds a large half-moon axe
in his hands as they stomp beside the small figure. Puffs of steam come from
the mouth of the small figure as his hot breath meets the chilly air of the
encampment. His arms are tucked beneath each other and within his robe to
stay warm as he moves about. The trio make their way through a small
marketplace where hawkers can be heard crying out their wares. Some of the
shopkeepers are even asking nearby citizens if they have come across any elk
for sale. The crowds hush as the trio moves past, clearly fear in their eyes
as they take in the hulking giants. They know who the shadowed figure is,
and they know the rumors about the company he keeps. The trio pays the
onlookers no mind and instead make their way to the tent at the far end of
the encampment. The guards nearby lower their polearms and let the trio come
to the very flap of the tent. The two giants turn their backs to the tent
and instead place themselves as a guard outside as the small figure opens the
flap and enters.

As the small figure closes the flap behind him he lowers the hood of his robe
so his face can be plainly seen. It is Brensen, the invoker who works
closely with Graghok, and he has come to see the felar chief. Brensen stops
to take in the scene that surrounds him. He eyes the felar chief with a
condescending look and takes in his bodyguard. He also takes a moment to
look at the merchant who is here to make deals with the chief. He notices
the rapier that his bodyguard wields and thinks little else of the two. He
looks to the chief and then waves a hand toward the merchant as if to dismiss
him. The merchant snorts in disbelief and looks to the chief, who slowly
nods his head toward the flap. The merchant is clearly disgusted at being so
casually dismissed like some petty beggar. He does not say anything, as he
needs what the chief can offer. The merchant turns toward the flap and
beckons his bodyguard to lead the way. As the merchant leaves he glares at
Brensen who doesnt even bother to look at him, for his eyes are clearly
fixed on the chief.
