Description
This man is rather rotund. He slinks around, though, with a grace
that belies his appearance. His motions appear lazy, sloppy. Yet
you notice that he makes very little noise and generally draws
very little attention.
Looking closer, you see his brown hair is greasy and sloppy, with
evidence of an early thinning - eventual baldness, perhaps.
His eyes are also brown, and seem dull and lifeless, as if he is
simply coasting through this life. Wait, though - was that a flash
of mischief from those eyes? Gone, now, if it was ever there.
His clothing is as shabby as the rest of him. Dirty and unkempt,
he looks as if he slept in the clothes on his back. His armor
could use a serious polishing, as well.
Role
Misunderstood
Added Fri Feb 27 22:31:07 2015 at level 12:
Gryndelwul is not a horse thief. Nor is he truly a thief of any sort.
Though he could recommend several good men, should any thieving be
something necessary. Misunderstood. That's what Gryndelwul is. A man
can't help but notice fine looking horseflesh, can he? And if that same
horse ends up missing shortly after, who is to say that man is to blame?
Besides, a man could get seriously injured, trying to steal things. And
a wise man never does anything on purpose that might lead to injury.
No, no, a fine brew, a good meal, and perhaps some good company are all
a man truly needs in life. Though a good horse can carry you to those things.
Or away from trouble.
Of course, gems and gold help to pay for the drinks, the food, and
especially the company. But Gryndelwul is definitely no thief.
Just misunderstood.
Standing Aside Only Gets You So Far
Added Sat Feb 28 22:25:04 2015 at level 19:
Gryndelwul is no fool. He knows that the best things in life are generally
things a man can do in the common room of an inn, or in a room at an inn that
has been rented out for a relatively short time.
He also knows that a man who sticks his nose where it doesn't belong often meets
a grisly end before he has a chance to enjoy those types of things. So it might
seem an odd choice, pledging himself to the Nexuns. They seem to meddle in all
sorts of affairs.
However, Gryndelwul sees the wisdom in their actions. Standing aside and minding
your own affairs is all well and good, but, well....
Let's just say that the morning after a fine evening with a lady whose company had
been purchased for a rather good bargain, Gryndelwul found himself with a rash.
It didn't seem like much. He figured it'd go away soon enough on its own.
Weeks went by, and it seemed to only get worse, and spread a bit. Still, he left
it be. Surely it'd go away soon.
It itched, but he ignored it. It oozed, but he wiped it away and continued to ignore it.
Then, he was no longer welcome in the beds of any of his usual comfort specialists.
That was the final straw.
The healers told him he was lucky - if he had let it go on much longer, they might have
had to cut some things off that he was very fond of. Whether that was truth, or they
were simply having fun at his expense, he would never know. But the point had been
impressed up on him.
The further travels of Gryndelwul Chel
Added Thu Mar 12 22:39:22 2015 at level 48:
Gryndelwul successfully joined the Island, and found it to his liking.
In general, there has been little pressure to perform at a high level,
or do anything that involved a great deal of physical labor. Gryndelwul
feels that he sweats enough during the course of a normal day - doing
something that created extra sweat seemed like folly.
Marintok is an impressive figure - his combat prowess is evident, yet he
doesn't seem to be wise in the lay of the land or many other such things.
Gryndelwul's many days traveling with his father and the band of ...well,
vagabonds and ruffians is what he heard townsfolk mutter about them, but
they called themselves legitimate traders... at any rate, his days of traveling
with them as a child had certainly made him feel quite knowledgable in terms of
the world, if not so much about Island protocol and the like.
Talisin and Bestan are two more of Gryndelwul's favorites among the Nexuns.
Both are competant, knowledgable, and friendly enough, without being clingy or
annoying.
His choice to study trapping in addition to thuggery is, as yet, unfulfilling.
Time may tell, though, if the trapping ability becomes more of an asset.
