Description
Small by the standards of giants, rising just about nine feet, this
mammoth of a man appears resolute. His dark, ruddy
complexion protrudes through a motley array of armament as
his muscles stretch and flex below the surface. Below and
behind his headwear cascades a wiry mane of fiery red hair, tied
in an unkempt braid with a leather thong. A nose that has
clearly been broken repeatedly marks a scarred visage with the
only highpoint being sharp amber eyes.
The rest of his appearance in nondescript with leathers, some
metallic plates, and a few heavy robes covering most of his
body, though clearly some are not meant for someone of his
size and stature. A couple large weapon hilts protrude from his
hip and he bares a loaded sack across his back and shoulders
although it does not appear to hinder him in any way or form.
Among the last few discernible details are that...
Role
Smolder.

Rising above the reverse flowing boiling river, a massive
mountain juts above the surface of the Dragon Sea, on the
eastern continent. It is a place of constant conflict, riddled with
the scars of a never-ending battle between the giants of storms
and fire. Below the craggy surface lie those giants of fire.
Raised under the cruel oppression of the giants of storms and
his own people, who largely practice the One Law, Guarag Gor-
Vol is a giant of fires from this very place, Mount Kiadana-Rah.
Like many of his kind, the One Law has been a guiding factor in
his life. This knowledge that the strongest are the ones that
make the rules has left a mark that can not be erased, deep in
his soul. Even though he's always been among the smallest of
his kind, he is endowed with an insurmountable belief in himself,
that one day, he'll be strong and make the rules. Because of
this, he's always been on the lookout for ways to grow more
powerful.
Be it fate, fortune, or misfortune, he found himself as fodder in a
battle amongst a handful of patrollers and a mighty Paladin.
Baring witness to the sight of this man laying waste to half a
dozen patrollers, single-handedly, he made up his mind to
become one himself. One storming night as both the skies and
mountain rumbled, he slunk out of the caverns and down the
rocky slope to cross the seas and seek training as a Paladin.
Town after town he visited. Arkham, Seantryn Modan, Balator,
Hamsah Mutazz... each refused him entry, some even beat
upon him like those who bullied him amongst his kin.
Battered, beaten and on the run, he clung to his pride and
persisted. Determined not to let things end with his trip to the
last guild, he went to the other Paladin's guild in Hamsah. And
this time, the guard let him in. Here, he finally got to learn about
weapon techniques, turning aside blows, and to use his strength
to enhance his damage capabilities, and it felt Good. He can't
wait to learn more and grow more powerful, to put all the others
in their place.
Thoughts and Insights
Added Sat Mar 5 14:22:16 2022 at level 15:
Guarag on Neutrality:
1. He doesn't care about the method in which he improves his already great
self.
2. Sometimes a method helps, sometimes chance and luck, he'll take either.
3. His wicked nature only really shows when he feels cheated or disrespected
which allows him to work with or for many races or kinds.
Guarag on Pride:
1. He's proudest of his survival among his people and in life.
2. The attachment to his vision of himself is founded on toughness and that's
his basis for self worth.
3. Besmirch his ideal of himself and a person will need to watch their back, food,
etc. No means is out of bounds.
Guarag on Paladins:
1. They're an annoying sort and should have never spurned him.
2. They can all eat outhouse leavings and die for all he cares.
3. He looks forward to cutting them down, one way or another for their blindness
to his greatness and he thinks they should have been honored to have him.
Guarag on Gods:
1. Some may be ok, he doesn't know.
2. Ain't one of them ever helped him.
3. Just for his own satisfaction, he's going to visit the one called Morius
and see what he's all about.
Guarag on Power:
1. He knows he's powerful but he'll need more, to be more powerful someday.
2. Everyone has a use, food, tool, patsy, all can be used to prove the power
he has.
3. Delving into ever dark magic will be one of the key areas he'll work to master.
The Gifts
Added Tue Mar 15 18:51:53 2022 at level 23:
Upon waking one stormy day, within the Galadon guild, Guarag
was surprised by the uncloaking of his beloved and admiring
Lord, Morius. He'd stopped in to praise and teach his growing
fiery giant, ensuring that he knows each step towards
greatness. As the storm raged outside of the guild, the two
enjoyed their short and poignant conversation. He revealed
that he was there as the benevolent and giving God that he is
and blessed he Guarag with a task towards earning his position
within the Scions.
The given task is one that Guarag is somewhat familiar with
after having dealt with a great many patrons foolish enough to
give him rewards and payments over the years. Knowing full
and well who he is.. the poor simpletons. Also, some of the
ones too dim to reward him well enough that he had to smoosh.
This time, Lord Morius tasked him with taking things from
members of the Fortress, the more valuable the better but the
crux is that it must be given voluntarily.
So, Guarag set out. First coming across a singing scribe within
the Inn. Both his time and words held no worth and he wouldn't
even feed the giant, so he decided on a different target. This
time he harked back to Morius words, "each inch a celebration",
so he aimed at something small.. Food. After a bit of searching
he managed to receive food from the Elder Prophet. Some
smooshed bread that he'll share with Morius. However this
wasn't enough.
A few days later, he found himself a snooty Paladin that just
entered the Fortress halls thanks to his child goddess, not as
good as Morius god. He met this silly fella and got him to hold
onto his black inscribed gloves and flaming axe, both
overflowing with red energy. Foolish paladin gave them to giant
once found was too weak to remove redness. So the smart
giant had now three things that were given to him but still he
thinks it may not be enough.
The last item acquired was a steel-shod staff. Again it was a silly
paladin fighting strong giant. Seemed persistent in attacking
him, just like Morius said, "make those who condemn.. give you
something", so he smacked silly paladin's weapon from his
hands. They just ran by the staff on the ground so he assumes
it's a gift, one he'll give to Morius since silly paladin seemed to
really value it, maybe best god will too.
