Description
The elf before you bears a regal ambience. Her winsome seraphic face is
set with a slim and slightly upturned nose, small bow-shaped lips, high
cheekbones and a sharp jawline. She has bright emerald green eyes which
smolder under soft angled brows. Her long raven black hair scintillates
with a healthy luster, she styles it in a secure crown braid with loose
curls. Balmy heather sprigs in her braid scent her proximity and mingle
with the subtle fragrance of rose oil, which also attends her presence.
Gwendelya keeps an aesthetic 5'9" figure with sterling posture and firm
rosy-pale skin. She would seem more at home gracing a formal masquerade
than a field of battle; however, she does sport a trim atheletic torso,
fetching sculpted shoulders, fit lean arms, and toned supple legs. Deft
of hand and foot, this ritzy elf travels the world with preening grace.
Upon her right palm is an intricately detailed mark of a quill overlaid
with a scarlet crescent, radiating a constant glow. The tattoo seems to
bear a special significance with her, as she oft presses it against her
cheek when pensive or unsure. It is undoubtably divine in it's essence.
Role
House Tir'Randir
Added Sat Jan 23 03:43:57 2021 at level 1:
The elven house Tir'Randir was founded in the second age. They were warrior
monks who gained notoriety for the safe guarding of elves on pilgrimages to
the shrines of their deities. The clan was formed by pious members of three
affluent families and their protection came free of charge. During the third
age, maintenance and travel costs had drained their coffers.
To refinance their efforts, they began protecting wealthy scholars who sought
forgotten artifacts and treasure troves for a portion of the find. Acting as
more than hired swords, the templars would analyze and probe the ruins to guard
against defensive traps that may lay in wait. They became skilled excavators on
their own merit. This began another tradition of the house, the acquisition of
relics and lore. The tradition was born of curiosity but proved to be very
profitable. Their fame and fortune increased at meteoric rate, soon Tir'Randir
was one of the wealthiest houses in Darsylon and their deeds earned them the
notice of the royal family itself.
Near the start of the fourth age, fame and luxury began to take it's toll and
slowly their role as dashing templars disappeared as more and more of them
turned away from piety and became conservators and financiers. They've remained
on this path since and their coffers and ranks have never been more full. Even
though they still hold esteem in the forest kingdom, their romantic reputation
has faded into history.
Gwendelya
Added Sat Jan 23 03:57:56 2021 at level 1:
Gwendelya was born to a very affluent family of house Tir'Randir, the daughter
of Erynhend and Maenwen. As the years past, Gwendelya grew into a very curious
child, often spending her days exploring the clan catacombs and the hidden
passages and secret rooms within. Becoming concerned about what rumors might
spread from her fascination with this morbid playground, her parents set the
young elf down in front of the house encyclopedia. They hoped to channel her
curiosity in a more productive direction, but they couldn't have imagined the
flames this would stoke in Gwendelya.
She was fascinated by the endless pages of chronicles and depictions of relics,
the bestiary, the maps. It consumed her and she knew from that young age that
hers would be a life of adventure and exploration. She constantly pestered her
parents with questions about the clan's past, though it wasn't long before she
was more of an authority on the subject than they were.
The elven child set a busy schedule for herself that included archaeology and
religious study in the afternoon and combat drills in the morning and evening.
She had found old training regiments and practiced regularly. Her personal
favorite was from a templar poet named Taranqare who was said to employ a
strange dance-like footwork to evade enemy attacks.
Gwendelya joined the Paladin Guild as her anscestors did before her. However,
she encountered the first snag in her efforts. Praying generally to the Gods
of light, an intangible guilt began to manifest as she suspected that she was
merely pursuing prayer for family tradition. For years she languished, the
meager prayers she offered outshined by her peers.
Determination found her again after the children in Darsylon began having vivid
dreams and night terrors. Soon, news arrived that children all over Thera were
likewise affected. Other tangible wonders in the sky began. Strange gleaming
dust fell from the sky on multiple occassions, but when chromatic lightning
tore the sky assunder and countless eldritch figures whispered a cryptic and
somewhat menancing vow, Gwendelya fueled her training with concerned urgency.
Then a giant eyeball stared down at the world below, she began preparing to
leave Darsylon and continue her training at the Theran Academy to learn from
Paladins abroad. These events concerned all of Thera and she wanted to know her
allies. Driven by her duty, and the chance to examine this anomaly, Gwendelya
begins her adventure.
Miscellaneous
Added Sat Jan 23 04:01:26 2021 at level 1:
Gwendelya tries to maintain a calm, sensible approach in situations but can
become defensive when unsure of herself. She feels a sense of shame when she
loses her temper due to a sense of representation for her house and guild.
Accustomed to a life of finery, Gwendelya is more than willing to sacrifice for
discovery but may take time to pamper herself after she returns from a harsh
excavation. Due to guilt of this behavior in light of her house's past, she's
prone to excessive donation.
Taking her paladin duties to heart, Gwendelya still prefers to avoid violence
when she is able. She will take action to protect the innocent, but tends to
pursue her own interests instead of the wicked. She does not turn a blind eye
to atrocities, however, whether they be actions or people.
She feels that a society's most vital role is to leave guidance behind so that
future generations can advance continuously. Gwendelya holds archaeology as a
righteous endeavor and will often risk her life to bring forgotten knowledge
back to civilization. She dreams she will be the house's next great quester
and leave her own entries in the Tir'Randir encyclopedia.
The Eternal Witch, Success, and Pride
Added Mon Feb 8 04:06:16 2021 at level 42:
Early in her questing career, Gwendelya met a paladin by the name of Glynn.
In introducing themselves, they found a common love of knowledge and research.
Glynn told her of his own research into theology and of the Eternal Witch,
Ishuli, to whom he gave prayer. Already in the midst of an excavation of the
Kobold Warrens, Gwendelya sought out and met Ishuli. She entered a contract
with the scholar Goddess and now uses her divine power in exchange for
providing the library with her findings in archaeology. Receiving some advice
on how to shape her findings, the young elf set out to survey more ruins of
which to write about.
Although taking many knocks along the way, Gwendelya surprised herself in her
accomplishments. She won a contest set forth by the Herald, Virren, in which he
tasked Thera with finding as many herbs as they could. From her understanding,
she had triumphed greatly in the undertaking and Virren seemed quite surprised.
She was also victorious over some foes which the Tir'Randir encyclopedia had
held to be fearsome and did so before she was yet confident in her training.
Taking an elven peer and a less experienced human into the siege encampment,
she led them in an expedition, discovering the secrets of it's lost history
within. Though they both survived and expressed gratitude for being able to
take part in this endeavor, the team had almost met with disaster more than a
few times and they remarked how dangerous it seemed. In the moment, their blood
fueled with adrenaline, these words seemed like a mark of honor. However, once
she returned to Darsylon, Gwendelya started to realize that she endangered two
bright young spirits and was grateful that she did not get them killed.
