Description

Taller than average of his folk a burly duergar stands before you. A mouth curls in a sadistic smirk revealing a row of shining white teeth unexpectedly clean and healthy for dark dwarves. His cunning dark green eyes flash wide open with an unholy fervor as he scrutinizes thoroughly his surroundings. A thick and luxurious ebony beard is neatly trimmed and his coarse hair is pulled back into a myriad of tightly woven braids. A hawkish noise along with a held high chin, a distinctive feature of a noble, creates an aura of confidence and arrogance around him. Powerful muscles ripping from beneath of his richly decorated armor and sharp blades attached to his belt leave no doubt that he won't think twice before ripping a man's head.

Role

New bloodoath

Added Wed Jul 29 18:45:36 2009 at level 51:
The Empress is long gone and nobody heard about her for a while. The Great
Empire is headless again. The purifying war is not going well and the imperial
forces face defeat after defeat. Gzurweeg was sitting in his cell reviewing
the latest reports. Not many of them brought good news. "I need to find a way
to reinforce the Black Sect", Gzurweeg thought. "Wait, here is a report from
a recruiter", Gzurweeg took a short list of new bloodoaths from papers stacked
on his table and studied it carefully. One of bloodoaths had shown good promise.
Her first task, to clean the carpet in the Black Sect, she completed very well
as if she already knew the dirtiest places in the Sect Hall. "I must memorize
her name, hmm, Ah-tie-li... or Ah-ti-eli, whatever.", Gzurweeg closed his eyes
and repeated the name several times. "Wait! Isn't it?! It can't be!", a sudden
thought came to his mind once he discovered that she has the same name as the
long gone Empress had. For Gzurweeg all undead looked alike, so he couldn't
confirm his guess, but it was definitely something he should pay attention to
in future. Gzurweeg drew the next paper from the stack, an ultimatum to the
council from therans. It read:

"Greetings your majesty Gzurweeg, the Dread Lord of the Great Empire!
We, therans, demand you to anathema that ugly undead being Ahtieli!
She is a threat to all of us and every living creature in the world.
Signed by: The leaders of Fortress, Battle, Refuge and Nexus"

There was some empty space after "Gzurweeg" as if a scribe wanted to put his
last name there but didn't know it. "At least this is still a mystery", Gzurweeg
smiled contentedly as he wanted to be known only by his name and not for his
heritage. Gzurweeg finished to read the ultimatum and scratched his head
curiously "Ahtieli again and the ultimatum looks quite demanding and rude".
A wide grin came across Gzurweeg's face. If the enemies of Empire demand from
him to anathema a worthy bloodoath then, perhaps, he should do exactly opposite.
After all, he needed a better reason other than "our enemies want it". However,
it would be unwise to discard the warning, so Gzurweeg decided to keep Ahtieli
as a servant for a while and watch.

Dread Lord

Added Sun Jul 5 23:14:55 2009 at level 51:
Very early in the morning, while Gzurweeg was still watching his sweet dreams,
a loud knocking to the Palace gates pierced through the silence. Irritated with
rude awakening Gzurweeg grunted to himself "what the ...?!" and approached the
window to see who the hell has no woman and thus can't sleep at nights. Before
the gates a young storm giant stood proudly holding a huge shining blade in his
right hand and waving his penis with his left hand. "Come face me, Gzurweeg!
I'm alone! Get out and fight, coward!", the giant yelled. Fighting a yawn,
Gzurweeg, as usually, walked to a side window and looked over nearby bushes.
As he expected, a small gang was sitting camouflaged there waiting for a signal.
Gzurweeg grumbled "Yet another child just invented a new-old primitive trap and
came to test his outstanding *achievement*". Gzurweeg shrugged and put on his
armor. No, not to fight, but to take a side route from the Palace.
Being the Dread Lord he would feel guilty to abandon his sect members, but
luckily for him, there was nobody to abandon. Gzurweeg made another round
observing empty cells and beds in the Black Sect part of the Palace, produced
a sigh and walked towards the secret exit. A storm giant outside could not calm
himself yelling "Come out, coward! Meet your fate!". A sudden grin flashed across
Gzurweeg's face. He didn't think he is a coward. In fact, he thought about
himself as a very brave man. But he was taught a long ago to hide his bravery as
if you demonstrate it you will be predictable. After all, 9 of 10 men wouldn't
be even in his position as they would give up long before while facing numerous
defeats from overwhelming enemy forces. That is typical base ingratitude you
get when you try to make people civilized. His enemies may think what they want
but they are unable to shaken his faith or damage his pride. Many would say
that pride is a sin and perhaps in other's shoes Gzurweeg would agree with that,
but he thought that he is awesome and couldn't help it.
After yet another successful escape, which was an achievement itself, being in
a good mood even though he had to wake up that early, Gzurweeg took his way to
the far lands thinking that winning the war is what that matters, not winning
every single battle. One day he will become a force to reckon with and,
as a secret adept of the Lord Daevryn's religion, he shall not fail at that.

Strange metallic objects (part 2)

Added Mon Jun 1 16:41:09 2009 at level 46:
... Only reflexes saved him this time. He even found strength to
chuckle at himself "Well trained reflexes... well trained. I'm getting
used to it!". He was in a misty forest he never seen before. Pondering,
he walked around for a while until he stumbled upon a hidden hut. With
a doubt he entered in and found an old wizard sitting behind the table.
"Come in, duergar, don't fear me. I hadn't anyone to talk with for a
long time and I enjoy your company", the wizard said. Still suspicious,
Gzurweeg approached the wizard and felt as a warming calm feeling
relaxed him. The wizard smiled and asked "I see a sign of troubles on
your face, Gzurweeg. Come, share it with me.". Gzurweeg whimpered "THEY
ALL ARE OUT TO GET ME!". The wizard hugged Gzurweed and with a sedative
voice said "I know what can help you, friend". He opened an old chest
sitting behind the table and pulled out several strange metallic objects.
"Take a look here, these things contain powerful magic within. Don't
hesitate to use them when you are in trouble", he said. They talked for
several more hours and when time to part has come the wizard opened
a portal for Gzurweeg straight to the Imperial Palace.

With a relief feeling Gzurweeg stepped out of the portal just to find
that another army of invaders approached the gates. "Gzurweeg! You
can't hide from us! Get him!", many yells flowed together resonating
by the Palace walls. But something has changed this time. And it was
the feeling of confidence coming from the wands the wizard gave to
Gzurweeg. The fierce short battle was coming to the end. A river of
blood streamed near the Palace gates, elven hair, storm giants' body
parts, dropped weapons and mighty Gzurweeg standing in the center of
the battlefield raising his hand signaling a victory!

... When Gzurweeg woke up, a relief smile didn't leave his face for
a long time. He wished this dream would continue. Disgusting at the
beginning it was so sweet at the end! And now he had learned the
greatest secret of what makes a man a MAN. He should struggle to find
more of those metallic objects from his dream!

Strange metallic objects (part 1)

Added Mon Jun 1 16:39:44 2009 at level 46:
As years passed, Gruzweeg grew within imperial ranks and his guild.
He now has a separate cell in the Palace with a huge bed where he can
sleep anytime he wants to. And one day he tried to do so...

... Acute sound spread over the Palace. The huge Palace gates crumbled
into dust almost as if they were made from brittle clay. A few remaining
citizens who were not fast to hide were running in panic. "Intruders!
Run for your life!". A line of invaders quickly advanced forward to the
altar decapitating a few hopeless defenders. A booming storm giant
voice reached Gzurweeg's ears "You can't hide from us, Gzurweeg!",
a squeaky elven voice assisted "Come meet your fate, filthy duergar!".
Gzurweeg jumped from his bed in panic, grabbed his armor and rushed to
the other entrance as a powerful force transferred him right into
a circle surrounded by the invaders. Later, he could not even recall
any of unspeakable things that happened to him there, the only thing
he remembered were beautiful blue and green eyes of elves and storm
giants peering at him. He didn't even know how he managed to escape...

... He was sitting near a wide road and licking his wounds as a band of
muscular warriors rushed past him. Suddenly, they stopped as they
noticed him and yelled "Hey, look! This is Gzurweeg! More blood!". And
again, all those unspeakable things that happened immediately have no
place in one's mind. But their scarred angered faces and spiked clubs
he remembered well, especially one gorgeous cloud giant who sneaked
from behind with a huge polearm. There were no escape and he thought
he was already done as a winged nightmare swooped down the nightly sky,
grabbed him and carried him to a shadowed place. A hissing voice from
behind a nearby tree whispered "Finally I found you, Gzurweeg! Your
fate is determined!"...

Awakening

Added Fri May 8 16:04:07 2009 at level 2:
A grinning face and a glimse of a raised blade... "Noooo!!!"
Gzurweeg did an insane leap off his bed and woke up. This time for real...
Sweating and shaking all over his body he fell exhaustively to the floor
"Pheww!".
An hour later, once fully conscious again he was pondering about his dream.
It was so real and so disgusting. It was also a sign and a turning point
of his life. Studies in the magic academy and training in the guard school
were for a purpose from now on. The great purpose... the dream he saw
should never come true! No freedom for the rabble, no freedom for those
who can't handle it. Only best among the best deserve to rule. Only they
are capable of maintaining the order and civilization.
And he will among those who save the civilization from doom.

A Dream

Added Fri May 8 16:03:41 2009 at level 2:
Noise... Heat...
An abrupt crackling sound clanged in Gzurweeg's head dropping him
off the bed. He rose himself on an elbow and dropped a glance at
the window. The window glass was broken and tongues of flame were
leaping inside the house. In panic, Gzurweeg jumped through the
window only to find two young apprentices who were looting a nearby
store. A big melted hole in the store's wall suggested that these
thieves didnt hesitate to use brute fire magic to break in and
apparently werent caring much about being noticed. "What's going on?!
lizards dung!" he yelled at the kids and they promptly disappeared.
Gzurweeg scratched his head with a confused look, "Yes, what's going on?
Where are guards? Where is everybody?". He slowly paced northern
direction towards the center of the city wondering about total chaos
he was watching along the street.
Somewhat later he arrived to the market square. A large crowd
boiled up there listening to a church prophet. "Citizens! The king
has died leaving no heir! His first advisor grants you freedom!".
The prophet raised his hands, "No more tyranny! You rule your own fate.
Do what you can! Do what you want!". The crowd buzzed in approval.
"Hells!" Gzurweeg thought. Richly dressed, he wasnt expecting anything
good considering the circumstances. Pondering, he quickly walked away
from the crowd towards the kings castle. Having friends among the
guards he planned to arm himself and grab some food.
Heavy smoke drifted through the city, many houses were burnt or ruined.
Mad looking citizens walked forth and back. Majestic yesterday, the city
was in a pitiful shape now. Even more so than during the last dwarven
raid several years ago. Moving through the city park Gzurweeg suddenly
noticed that somebody is following him. Having a bad feeling he rushed
to nearby bushes only to find out that several hooded duergars were
running after his tail. "Crap!", he didn't expect gangs to be formed
so quickly. He took to his heels in panic and ran as fast as he could
away, but they apparently had a mage with them. A strong head wind
made his efforts futile, a sudden weakness bound his legs and he fell
to the ground. The gang approached swiftly and last he saw was a grinning
face raising a black jagged dagger. "Noooo!!!"

A Day

Added Fri May 8 16:02:25 2009 at level 2:
"This is the best academy of our glorious city! Here you can find the
power and the heritage of our folk!. You, Gzurweeg, must be proud to
be born in Arangird!" a booming voice of an old teacher was keeping
Gzurweeg from falling asleep at lesson. He suppressed a yawn and
stared at the mage blankly. The old wizard frowned upon him and
added, "you have good potential but lack of motivation. Should you
put a bit more efforts and you could be among best of my students".
The teacher grumbled something more, but Gzurweeg's mind was away
already. "He's damned right" he thought. "What, hells, I'm doing here ?!".
Gzurweegs family was rich as his father served as a first mate in one
of numerous Aran'gird clans, thus, the children were supposed to get
good education in best schools. Thus, Gzurweeg was spending the majority
of a day studying in the King's magic academy. And after that, often
exhausted, he had to attend the King's guard school trainings.
Needless to say what were Gzurweeg feelings about all this "education",
but he wasn't in position to question his father's authority.
Several hours later, when another day had ended, Gzurweeg finally made
his way to home, lustily touched a bed, and being utterly drained
immediately fell asleep...
