Description
Long flowing silver tinted coarse hair drapes slightly around a face of small
calluses, dull like rough silver ingots. Massive watery eyes center this
womans face, dark saucers milky and stone like. A small downward curved
mouth perches above a strong angled chin. Small pinprick ears twitch slightly
with any soft noise, the second most animated part of her face next to her
eyes. Those saucers blink in rapid succession, with short eyelashes aflutter
like a spiders legs. Her skin is a granite color, molted with limestone veins
running through with her lifeblood. Long dangling obtrusive arms end in hands
that are emaciated and talon like, with crude trimmed fingernails that seem
to have been chewed away. Her frame seems less than the weight of a small
boulder, yet she seems hard. Standing at barely three feet tall she makes a
presence of uncertainty and anticipation. Her movements seem to delve from
different joints than a human, leaving her awkward in appearance, yet flowing
in her own way.
Role
Pride and Accomplishment.

Ive realized that even if I have never laid eyes on the Lord Daevryn I dont
really need to. I am confident in my accomplishments. I am a renowned chef,
and I have friends and kindred from all walks of life now. My calling of
earth, demons, and archons has grown beyond what novices of my guild could
handle. As long as I feel that I have progressed it matters little if I have
the approval of the Diamond. I shall strive forward focused yet free as I am.
I did seek some word of him, I did meet his Scooloo. Zesam the Scooloo seemed
a confident man, an Immortal now in his own right. I forgot to ask though,
what IS a Scooloo? I feel hes lead me closer to the path of stones that Lord
Daevryn walks. I should express my Pride, reveal in my accomplishments, and
always seek to do better, to form my Emerald harder. My mind is becoming
focused, if you could call such from one such as me. Ill focus on goals now
no matter how small or great. My first goal shall be to cook a dish Worthy of
the Diamond, and Ill hand it to Malloy to give to the Lord. I am the Rough
Emerald.
My painting of Lord Daevryn

The High had called a contest, a painting call to all therans. I still feel
confident in my painting, it matches both my firm resolve, even if I have not
met the Rough Diamond. I used some berries I had picked to use as paints, my
colors perhaps not as vibrant as others, but I did wonderful if anyone asked
me. I hope the Diamond does not mind, I shaved the bark off a side of one of
his chestnut trees. I figured how better to capture his essence. The High
closed his eyes and passed before our contest completed, and now it falls to
Leshene and I to run the Bar. I respect the transmuter, after all she is
kindred now. I cant help but feel slight resentment though. I am no great
story teller, but I would like to lead within our walls also. Perhaps I
should speak up more and seek Lady Iunna more, Ill call her Fires soon, and
hope I dont get burned. I feel my soul stone beginning to blaze, perhaps
soon Ill know where I stand.
Striving to Excel.

I still have yet to reach the Rough Diamond, I feel Im becoming
accomplished, and perhaps worthy of his eye now, I am like a new formed
emerald crushed between great forces, I grow harder with each passing moment.
I still have yet to become a champion of combats, and realize now that
perhaps that was never my goal in the first place. As far as what goals I
have come into- I branch like the veins of silver flowing through the ground.
I am not the head chef within the Inn, even Olin acknowledged my fine cooking
not long past. My earth kinship has grown in leaps and bounds. I hear my
elemental kindred whispering to me, guiding my hands in both my motions of
magic and the chefs knife.
As an aside I found the most wonderful tankard not long past near the Hamash
docks, I had to barter with the captain of a ship for his prized tankard, and
it cost me only some gold and a fantastic meal of buttery fried shrimp
skewers, with purple side tentacles on the side. A deal Id make most any
day. Week following my discovery Ive started trekking out in the world,
looking for deep places of earth magics and recipes for cooking.
My first ever contest!

The Guild master has taught me much, however the High Herald as also left an
impression on my soul, and my stone now holds part of his essence for
cooking, a slight twist to my style. The Earth willingly shows me her bounty
now, and my recipe book has grown quiet large, few if any could match my
cooking now. I receive praise from all who pass my food through their lips.
The Mushroom Gravy is by far my favorite though. I swear you could add
mushrooms to almost any dish and it would make what is bland spectacular.
Weve held my first event ever with the High at the Inn, a Match between
Brawns and Brains. Im quiet proud to enter at such a young age, but also
rather nervous. Without enough turn out Ill face my tankard against foes
like Igbah, Fendril, and Ramora, Each a powerful foe in their own right, but
usually friends. Ive been cooking almost none stop to prepare, to ensure all
bellies and mouths stay stuffed with the bounty we at the Inn can provide.
Ive had various orders now from priests and the like asking about special
dishes for their patrons. Ive made dishes from candy scepters, to buns with
buttered crosses on top. I still wish that I had spoken to Lord Daevryn, to
find how I fit within his nitch of stones.
So much to speak of.

Much has happened, in such a short time...
Ive embraced the stones and earth like never before. I feel like I have
found the family that these topsiders speak of so often. My cooking comes
along slowly, this profession is harder than it may seem. I often find
ingredients from the Mother that I know will mix well together, but the
insight seems hidden from me now, like rich veins of gold covered buried deep
in granite. My mind is murky at times with the different paths I tread. Ive
inquired to the Topsiders at the Inn, yet receive no word back, nor can I
find many who know them. I sought lady Iunnas thick point with a topside
human, the fire was very strong and slightly strange to me. The quiet of the
place was vaguely settling, like the embrace of the mother. More important
than lady Iunna I discovered the Rough Stones Mansion. The Workshop shows
that perhaps I have more in common with this lord I have never met than I
imagined, and the sitting room brings me peace in my soul that rages at every
pass. This lord seems to be closer than I ever imagined rather than the dwarf
battleragess. Along with all others I have taken a few classes at the tower
of sorcery, I am also an apprentice there now along with the teachings of my
guild master. The power of the stones seems Very strong there. All together I
grow, like a mushroom on the rocks fed moist cave waters. I find pleasure in
small things, and perhaps all these topsiders are not half as bad as I
imagined. The ones of Balance say I must become the Best at something to gain
respect of the Rough Diamond, be it magic of the stones, or perhaps my new
trade...cooking.
Rough stones, covered in mushroom gravy.

The path of stones has not been easy. I find I shape the mother very well.
The stones call to my blood and I sing with joy for hearing them. I meet many
'friends' but few partners that view the stones like I. The light walkers
look at me in pity, while the dark hearted souls think Im like mica, easy to
break. My granite is starting to show. I do not think myself special; I am
not trying to be what I am not, just all I can be. I must become better, not
receive looks of pity, but respect. I do not need others to judge me and find
me lacking. These topsiders are all alike, elf, fire giant, and dwarf all
alike. There are two I am seeking audience with, a herald, and a Lord of
Rough Diamonds. I have decided perhaps a good path to show others of the
Mother are through their stomachs. I shall learn to cook what these topsiders
call food, and show them what true underside food tastes; what better way to
show them the fruits from the stones?
The stones call to me.

The stones call to me, others hear whispers but I hear the volume. They are
trapped like I am within a shell, their freedom confined. I was not perhaps
always like this, much as they must not have been.
I come from the stone, a living mother second to the first of earth. A father
is like the water that cuts through, vital but unimportant. All of this is
unimportant.
I am blessed, blessed by the mother. I have been given the voice; through my
words I can free the stone. I am told by my sculpt master that in time I will
learn other forms to call. Perhaps fire, water and air. But the stones call,
and I seek to free them. My thought are scattered like the minerals in Thera,
but I know my goal. I shall free the stones, call the earth, and embrace back
to my mother. The road surely will not be given to me, nor difficult if I do
not fracture, shall I shift on my fault to wherever I shall lay, as long as I
progress. The stones call, and I listen.
The Earth pulled over my Head.

It seems I was hit over the head by a large stone, perhaps I angered the
Mother Earth somehow. All my memories have fled me, and Ill attempt to
remember my past. It seems Ive forgotten much, which means to me that I have
simply shed the rubble from my past and am beginning to form into a Diamond
like the Shooloo spoke to me of. I wish I remembered more from what I had
learned from the Highs Last Great Contests, the Wits and Brawn. The stones
fall sometimes and Ill have to accept the way they land.
