Description
Clearly leaning more towards the human side of her heritage, this young
half-drow female bears skin the color of almost white ashes, just a few
shades darker than the white hair she keeps in a severe bun atop her head.
Her simple clothing and armor is kept immaculately pressed and cleaned as if
ready for inspection at a moment's notice. Against her armor clacks a small
pair of reading spectacles, attached to a chain. Her face is stoic leaning
towards severe with thin lips compressed into an even thinner straight line
when in thought.
Role
Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time, there was a young girl who woke up without an ending. She
had no beginning, no parents, no family, no home, just an assigned name and a
nook in an orphanage that barely fit even her slight form. Over time, she
decided to find others' endings and beginnings by closely watching the daily
habits of her fellow orphans, the tenders, and those who walked by the window
every day.
At first entranced by the strangers and new outlooks and fresh thoughts that
each one held within themself, she soon grew to realize that every ending was
plainly visible after just a few moments of reading each story's page. The man
with the cart and the thin horse would always walk with his cart and his horse
to where he went during the day and then back again the way he came at night.
Poor children grew into poor adults and angry, violent people were angry and
violent until The End. Each character's own story was written by the
circumstances of their beginning and ended in a depressingly predictable
manner.
But what about those who didn't get beginnings? How could she know how her
story would end if she didn't know how it began?
She started to devour books and eavesdrop on people in the town, desperately
seeking within passages and phrases every imaginable beginning both mundane
and fantastic. But both it and The End still eluded her. The tragedies and
comedies in this town were simply too repetitive to help her.
When the time came, she slipped away from the orphanage to seek more stories,
more beginnings, and, most importantly, The End. The more evidence and
experiments she could conduct, the closer she could get to finding her own
story.
In a dream, she saw the circumstances of an ending that could be hers: A
world, suffused in light. Light so bright that it cast away all other colors.
In this world, there were no violent endings or parents who died or children
who had to seek themselves in the stories of others or unanswered questions.
It would be a world of pure radiance, a Happily Ever After, where she and
others could be happy just by being there. No more of the story would need to
be written.
This place, where there were no doubts and no pain, was surely the one that
she was born from. This must have been her beginning. She would go there
herself again one day, at The End, after burning out whatever tried to stop
her.
The Case of the Spectral Bride

Investigation Individuals Involved (iii): 1. The Pumpkin King, 2. Spectral
Bride, 3. Iskiohr, 4. Miripirisir Theofellow, 5. Coachman., 7. Trickster/Loki
(named in circumstance only)
Concern for Involvement (CI): [1. reports of bride being kidnapped by ruffians
in an inn in Galadon City.] [2. is not located at inn.] [3. Further reports of
the 1. reporting this uxornapping leads Investigator to further
reports of a bride concerned, spectral in areas not of choice.] [3. Reports of
5. at the Inn of the Eternal Star. (See all attached notes in clipboard and
memory, further details needed until reported against remembered facts)]
[Spire source reports of Pumpkin King causing chaos. Hostile pumpkins were
observed but bore no affiliation to any reign. Investigator was turned into a
pumpkin and now seeks the source of this to
[illegible-him-illegible-go-themselv-illegible-till I make their -illegible-
puree with a light cream sauce.] *Haellyne stops for a moment, arches a stern
eyebrow at a hand that, for a moment, seemed to almost have included something
impartial to the investigation, her hand relaxing beneath that withering look*
[Further reports of 7. as one who launched a plague of a soul abdicating
disease as reported by Investigator's eye witness. 4. clearly some kind of
charlatan and of no further importance and in Investigator's opinion a servant
or form of 7. Concern is that they are seeking blood from specific
individuals.]
["Pseudosorcery. You can tell because he dresses like a cad and wants
blooooooood" is cut from the notes by the angle of that eyebrow.]]
Objects with Purpose for Investigating, Order of Priority (OPIOP): This bride
continues to be reported in places against their choosing. I will find her and
confirm her safety and, if necessary, reconsecration to the earth once freed
from captors. Or, if actually alive and just one who is quite gaunt, a normal
happy life.
Investigators Notes: Each time I pray to Ishuli within her library, I am led
to new pathways into my investigation. As I continue to unlock the mysteries
of my guild, the planes and people of Thera, and new methods for bringing the
darkness of disorder and chaos to the light. Her gift is present in every
moment of my life, each time I unravel a mystery and cease all mercy to the
shadow as an Ending, a Happily Ever After (H...E...A...*was never included in
this part of the notes*) when I am not light in the dark but a light in the
Unending Light lit endlessly by seeking eyes.
The Herald Iskiohr is quite kind. He has reported a similar dream to mine.
There may be others. As mine foretold of a great peril and danger I cannot
risk giving details away to others. I will continue to suggest the topic
and gather additional information.
The Case of the Tacky Hat

...and that, in summary, is how the Trickster was returned to its tome and the
Inn's patrons' souls returned.
On a side note, this investigator would like to make a mention of what I saw
in the funnel: The complete making and unmaking, simultaneously, of multiple
worlds and concepts in brief fleeting moments as they were created and
disintegrated, never having truly existed in the first place.
In this place, I saw a greater truth than I have ever felt in Ishuli's shrine.
Not just a presence or a deity, but the entire concept of light, truth, and
knowledge that was at the beginning and will be at the very end. The truth of
existence and all investigators before and after me.
In a moment of [genius has been crossed out and replaced with a less vainful
word: thought], I dropped a piece of parchment into the funnel. On it I had
written the plans I have set in place for granting a true, bright ending to
Thera. I will seek out this presence in areas I believe to feel it the
strongest and attempt to communicate with it to gain its favor.
I do not think names apply to this concept so I shall refer to it as
Order moving forward in my notes.
