Description

The average heighted, burly arial before you has its features dominated by a massive bleached yellowish beak. Slightly above it are two black watery eyes. The color of her feathers is of gray white with occasional spots of deep humus. It is clear the arial before you is rather young. Her wings are larger than most arials but are left slouching a bit as if heavy weights were tied to them. The shoulders beneath which the wings rest are quite broad and the arms which his talons end up on are long and stringly muscled. Small strings of darkness linger about her armor.

Helga was born in the arial city - a skyflying rampart of all arials - in a family of famous warrior,
Olaf Brokenwing. It was a family that gave the world many heroes and tt was even rumored
there were some ties of blood with Ckath, a famous Emperor who turned into the demon and
left to the Inferno. Truth or empty bragging, these (in)famous ancestors influenced on Helga
during her growth. Olaf tried to give her good education, consisted mostly of physical and tactical
training than good manners or ancient literature. Maybe this played it's role when Helga started
to show some...'bad traits'. At first, they did not pay much attention to it - it won't hurt a good
warrior if he (well, she) curses sometimes or is ready to give a good fight to everyone.

But Helga went much far than they expected. She joined the band of hooligans, then thieves,
then robbers. They began from robbing drunkards and finished with attacking trade caravans.
By that time Helga left her family for the free life of vagabond and robber. They scouted
for trade caravans moving through mountains to Udgaard, and attacked it from the skies
using force of surprise, good tactics and so on.

No laws, no rules, only worthy friends, wind under the wings and blood boiling in veins when you
dive from the skies on surprised merchants. But as the time passed she began to get tired from
wild life of road robber. And one day she got a letter from her father. He was dying and wanted to
see her back. There was some respect for her parents left in her heart and she returned right
in time. And they talked. A lot. About miserable life of vagabond, about famous ancestors,
that alone could change the outcome of battle, about society, which laws let the smart and strong
ones rule over the others. About wealth and glory. He said he allowed Helga to live like a wild
flower, and he will accept if she declines. But his will, his last will is that she should continue
her training of a warrior, of an adventurer and let her ambitions to flourish.

And Helga accepted.

Chapter 2. Character traits and beliefs.

After she had a talk with her father, Helga felt ashamed about her 'miserable' life. She should
become a worthy daughter of Brokenwing family. In Academy she learned about cabals, their
goals and beliefs and many famous heroes of the past. She should become a loyal servant
to one of them until she becomes a hero herself. Loyal, who will do anything to please her
master, without questions, without doubts. She will not cover her name with disgrace even
if it means death for her.

At the same time she will demand respect and loyalty from her own servants, should she get any.
So, she will not tolerate rudeness, cowardice and incompetence, from noone.

She has respect for priests, because they devote their life to serve their masters. She dislikes
thieves, who strike from the shadows and will try to avoid relationships with them unless
it gives a certain benefit to her.

She will not beg for anything from her enemies. Under any circumstances. But she tends to 
respect those, who fell to her, and will leave most of their things.

Some reflections, principles, and values.

When we left our hero last time, she was going to join the Academy and carve herself a path
towards glory and respect. She passed the course in the Academy as well as a test for the
Scrapper position, which is the lowest position possible. Passing both of these allowed her
to join the warrior's guild in Hamsah. Without family to give attention to, money to waste, or
friends to have fun with, she had a lot of spare time to train with. Nothing could distract her
from her training. She began to advance in the guild rather quickly and when the time came,
she chose the way of Imperial Blade and took the Oath.

She chose the Empire because it was an organization with a strict 'master-servant' structure
where a warrior could show his abilities and loyalty. It was an organization where Helga would
know her place, duties, and laws. As years passed, she became more mature, and began
to feel a bit of guilt after her last talk with her father. She sought out a master to serve,
while hoping to gain the approval and respect of others, such as her ancestors (both living and
dead), who watch her from the other worlds. Shame and disgrace are the worst emotions for
her to feel. Being soaked with spirit of unquestionable loyalty, she will never betray, leave, or
disobey the Emperor. The words of her father, filled with disdain, about 'anathemas' echoed in
her head.

She donated hundreds of gold which she gathered from hidden treasure vaults, which got her
promoted to Sheathed Blade. After spilling some blood, she was further promoted to Blade.
Her career in the warrior's guild was even growing even more rapidly. Such a good beginning
lead to a bad outcome -- quickly rising had angered her ambitions and she caught herself thinking
about getting the position of Elite Imperial Blade. Finding such thoughts intolerable, as servants
may not think, hope, or decide their fate. It is a right of the master to decide - she commited
suicide in attempt to cleanse herself from anything but service.

Having participated in different battles, she formed her own principles of combat that helped
her stay alive and defeat her foes:
I. Nothing should be considered "bad" as long as it helps you defeat your foe. This means that any
efficient tactic is viable.

II. The Empire is based on strength, not on how gross you look, or how well you brag, but it
focuses on two things: How many foes did you kill and how many times did they kill you?

So, unless there is direct order or the Palace is attacked, the dignity lies not in dying to your
enemies, but in killing them for the Empire. Therefore, there is nothing bad in avoiding combat
on bad terms or trying to force your foe to fight you on your terms. Helga prefers more cautious
way, to consider her enemy and risks rather than engaging in combat in a frenzied state.
