Description

He stands at about fifteen feet tall, the giant before you is clearly a very large figure. His shoulders are wide and his great muscles clearly are used regularly as you see no fat about him. From his face hangs a long green beard with plaits and braids. His eyes are a vivid shade of blue and his eyebrows are a lighter shade of green. His facial features have a kindness to them that makes him look almost like he is approachable to just about any creature. His nose is wide but flat, his chin is anything but pointy. He has a very broad smile that resonates happiness and kindness when shown. From his massive head falls blue hair that is tied in several large braids and held back with a leather string tied with small seashells. His skin that shows on his face, hands, and anywhere else not covered with armor or clothing is a dark shade of green. His hands appear large and calloused, no stranger to hard work. His nails are well kept and his overall appearance is one that is well manicured. He wears heavy armor in times of travel that appears to be a collection gathered from all over the world.

Role

Becoming a Paladin

He grew up happily in the homes and waters of Loch Terradian. He had big dreams
when he was 'little', following the guards around as they patrolled the platform
pretending he was a soldier. He was not a part of any sort of nobility, but his
father had been a trader and his father before him.

Hiilos lived for his trips to the Aryth Ocean. Twice a year his family would
make the long journey to his extended family's kelp fields to gather and process
the crop into things such as textiles, food, teas, and even fermented alcohols.
On the way home they would deliver kelp products to Hamsah Mu'tazz, Voralian
City, Tir-Tilath, and Galadon. The entire process would take several weeks and
it was a trek that Hiilos was able to learn much about the world. Fear of
bandits, marauders, anti-paladins, and all sorts of perilous encounters always
made Hiilos grip his weapon with sweaty palms but did not detract from his
enjoyment of the experience.

His father was able to teach him wisdoms of the road, philosophies of good and
evil, and matters of faith and the light during these treks and Hiilos listened
dutifully. He began to have bigger dreams than soldiering and patrolling the
Loch.

His future and fate was pushed roughly into his current path one journey when he
went to the fields of his family and found them barren. The land was empty and
defiled, as was the home of his kin. No signs remained that anyone had been
there for months. The area had an empty and foreboding feel to it. Being so
spread out and far from other storm giants due to the size of the holdings
ensured nobody knew what had happened.

His father was devastated both personally and professionally. Hiilos was still
young. The trek home was the longest journey of his life and seeing his father
broken broke him a little too.

Upon his return he made decisions. He spoke with priests of the Loch and swore
to right the wrongs of the world as he was able by taking up the mantle of the
Paladin. He was sent to the great Academy of Thera where he would go on to learn
the greater details of his decision and his place in the world. It was there
that he took his final oaths of his guild and swore himself to uphold the
Paladin Code.

The final step of his path to faith was to gain the blessings of an Immortal of
Thera who embodied the path his faith would take him. It did not take him long
to discover the faith of Baerinika. Her story and legends inspired him to live
for Purity and ensure that the wicked ways of the world are cleansed. He seeks
to become a beacon of strength and hope for those like he was as a child,
protecting the innocent from harm and misfortune.

It didn't take Hiilos long to make his way to the jungle ruins of Baerinika. He
felt it was important to make her a part of his life as soon as possible if he
was going to channel his strength in the light in her name. She asked him to
reflect on what it meant to be good, and how it applied to his path.

To accomplish this he spoke to many more experienced and older persons in the
world about goodness. It felt odd holding these conversations with his limited
perspective, but the exercise was one that opened up his mind a bit more to the
wholeness of the world and the light's place around those within it. These talks
reinforced the way he wished to help others, by standing up for them when they
have need and being a force of strength that inspires his allies and instills
fear in those who would harm them.

Hiilos pledged his life to the cause of the Maran. After researching himself on
what it meant to call yourself Maran and those who have served before him he
felt this to be his true calling.

With his goddess Baerinika at his side and his path before him he continues his
journey on the path of Righteousness.
