Description
Pointed ears slightly protrude from a disarray of vibrantly dyed hair,
ranging in hues of a deep ocean blue, sunset orange, to flora green. Eyes of
the deepest azure flicker keenly at the surroundings, and thin lips portray
the beginnings of a feral snarl. Tribal tattoos in jagged patterns seemingly
cross every part of his body, marring his otherwise fair features. Flayed
skins of elk and lion adorn his lithe frame. Slender fingers clench a
bloodied sword, and the faint gleam of darkened metals belies an assortment
of bloodied daggers in various places. The wildness of this fairborn elf
emanates from his savage demeanor.

The Inn of the Eternal Star gave Hikuhiel access to a wealth of information.
It was here he really began to understand more of the forces at work. Gods.
Magic. Spheres. The Violet Spider. Order. But shadow and chaos has long
played its role in Thera. It maneuvers, conquers, and deceives. All are
impacted by its echoes and tremors.
In the tombs of books upon books, between the poems and tales of yesteryear,
though, Hikuhiel found the history of Thera, of a beginning forged from
darkness. War brewed between Order and Chaos, Shadow and Magic. But out of
war, bred for war, battling war, the heart of resistance emerged in the
Village of Battleragers.
The Forsaken One, father of shadow and chaos, creator of magic, spider-kin,
darkened Thera with ruinous rancor.
So where many battle magic, Hikuhiel battles its precursor. He strongly
feels the beckoning of the Dark One, its compulsion tempting and prodding him
away from his own will, deception clouding his thought and his hand. Always
before him, and always upon his heels.
And from this he fights, until the blood of magic covers the land, dispatched
forever from the reach of all, grasping no longer.
A Telling Fortune.

'Care to know your fortune?' The little gnome, garbed in a dazzling array of
colors and jewelry, looked up from among the tables to lock eyes with
Hikuhiel. He eased a smile back at the gnome, Aubrei, as she took his cup of
tea and began examining it. Drifting from place to place, it had been
several years since his encounter with the soothsayer but his edge remained.
She began, though, before he could answer. 'Death, my friend.'Hikuhiel
just stared back, unsurprised. The gnome magus continued, however, crinkling
her brow in thought. 'Scandal.Interesting. It is nots necessarily with a
woman but she will be involved!' He reclined back in the chair, the
comfortable fire of the Inn providing ample light in this cozy corner. Maybe
this gnome knew her trade after all. 'Mmms, this could be bads. The last
leaf reads of order. Well, good lucks!' And she was gone, edging between
tables and chairs toward the bar.
Death. Scandal. Order. A fine tale to scare or humor a patron with, but
Hikuhiel knew this to be more than mere jest. His life spent running, he had
the wisdom of age about him now to realize something was amiss but the
naivety to think himself capable of doing something about it. He could not
escape the tugging sensation in his chest, his mind, as he wandered the
lands. Shadowbound. He remembered the moment clearly, defining.
But what could he do about it...
He enjoyed this place, the Inn of the Eternal Star. Within its walls he
found an amazing resource of knowledge and people. Maybe knowledge and
people to be used? Or to just...use?
And for this Hikuhiel hides, masquerading within the Inn to a purpose he
will not reveal.
A Birthsign Revealed.

'SHADOWBOUND!' yelled the soothsayer. It took several moments before Hikuhiel
even realized the old man meant him, but the soothsayer slowly drew his
finger up to point directly at the young wood-elf. The flames of the evening
fires flickered in the cool autumn breeze, enhancing the madness of the man.
He thought he had found a quiet refuge amongst the travelers of Aldevari. He
worked alongside the other hunters and enjoyed the various performers about
the camp. Jesters, mimes, poets, and bards. But it was the impersonators who
always had his eye, and these he watched carefully, working to understand
their craft of mimicry.
But that would all be ending. All thought of the past few months flashed
before the soothsayer even finished his terrible utterance. And although
Hikuhiel did not understand, he knew the old man's discernment struck true.
Oblivious to the stars himself, Hikuhiel sat amongst the wagons before the
soothsayer, his deception evident and clear to the mystic.
And from this he runs.
Shadow and Chaos.
Added Thu Dec 20 08:40:13 2007 at level 25:
Shadow and chaos. They flow upon the heels of Hikuhiel, tempting, baiting,
urging. He battles with the two, his natural disposition to the lands always
in conflict with the moon.
Born to simple, nomadic wild-elves in the seclusion of the Misty Mountains,
his mother died before he was halfway free. Shadow and chaos.
His father raised him by the sword, knowledgeable of the lands, calm in
danger, but dead by the gruesome carnage of goblin brigands. Shadow and
chaos.
Tir-Talath provided little recluse to the young wood-elf, and where death
would not find him thieves surely did. Shadow and chaos.
He runs, escape always faint as one walks through the shifting darkness of
dusk. But that would be Hikuhiel's life, unbeknownst to him at this time in
life. He fears that which he does not understand or realize, a birthsign of
rarity with implications too deep for mortal to grasp. This conflict always
remains uncontrollable, tempting, but fleeting. It is the setting of the sun,
that undiscerning haze of dusk, just before the spoiling darkness.
And from this he runs.
