Description
Standing at attention, this armored warrior looks about
with glowing yellow eyes set in the inner dark of his black helmet.
Black, burnished plate rests easy on his slight frame, and
leads to matching burnished greaves and vambraces and on
down to his boots. The gloves and boots are both perfectly shaped
for one of the felar, and his tail-armored rests wrapped around
his waist perfectly placed within his armored appearance. The
burnished armor glinted darkly, and reflected the Imperial Codex
embossed in the center of the chest piece. Planted on the ground
in front of him, a spear crosses from his left foot to right shoulder
perfectly bisecting diagonally held in both fists. No part of him
is exposed to identify his heritage, but his height lends himself
to the smaller races of the world.
Role
Squalor
Added Tue Apr 6 10:45:11 2021 at level 6:
Merciful ignorance followed a litter of felar raised on the shores
of the river erinin near Blackclaw village. One such felar soon learned
the merciless nature of life. Fishing and hunting was feast or famine
and the village healer was ever overwhelmed to heal the maladies
and hurts of the scant populace. The land was full of the privation of
War. The litter shrunk in size until there was just one scrappy tom,
with just one reaching a naming day in misery. Starvation, disease,
and the battles of the races of Thera took their toll on this creatures
family until one day, Hoishyrr took to scavenging the land to scrape
together coppers enough to avoid joining the litter fallen. One day
braving to go to Galadon to trade and sell, Hoishyrr was shocked
to see the difference in quality of life in the town founded by humans.
Everywhere he looked, he saw plenty and wealth. He saw food spoiling
in midden heaps. Envy, jealousy, rage, and hate sprung up where a
pathetic void existed. Upon returning to his hut, he began to despise
the lot he drew when he was born and determined to die in a palace.
Shame dug deep into his heart at the squalid, smelly, poor fort that
the felar seemed to accept as the pinnacle of their civilization.
Lesson in Culture
Added Wed Apr 7 09:28:51 2021 at level 9:
Studying at the feet of the warrior guildmaster of Blackclaw, Hoisshyr
bought lessons with the trappings he stumbled upon from battlefields
full of dead soldiers. "You learn the lessons of our guild well, but
why do you wish this life?" asked the guildmaster. "I have lost my silver
and my coppers to the duergars in the trees around the great Eastern
road. Ill buy a dwelling in the city when I have enough," was his reply.
"The merchants of the world hunger for gold and will always be
hungry however much a pile they gather. That is not our way. Dwellings,
metal clothes, too much food..these things are not what we want or need.
We are enough as we are. Do not forget it," said the guildmaster with
certain finality.
All Hoishyrr could see was the unkempt guildroom in the fort, the old
and rusty weapons the felar could not craft, and the dependence on
the merchants that the bankers brought in to visit who charged too much
for too little given in trade. Hoisshyr could read the contempt in the
traders when he sold his wares. One thing resonated in his soul. "I will not
die here, coinless, and broken." He got up to see the world, and to see
how he could join those who hoarded such wealth as the world could
only dream of.
Petition Rejected
Added Wed Apr 7 09:40:44 2021 at level 9:
The door slammed in his face.Laughter faded behind the door.
Furiously turning around, Hoisshyr slunk through the city streets
of Hamsah Mutazz with a scroll crushed in his gloved hand.
We regret to inform you that your petition
to join the honorable Merchant Guild is denied.
You must have a guild member to present you before the guild or
you must present one hundred gold coins, a years dues in full.
No individual can sell in the city marketplace without admittance
to the guild.
All black market sales will be met with extreme prejudice.
All who do not follow the Sultans laws will suffer the
full measure of the Sultans justice.
Full Measure of the Law
Added Thu Apr 8 12:58:24 2021 at level 12:
Hoisshyr admired the clever use of the Sultan's writ.
It protected the guild and gave them power.
It infuriated that he had no recourse within the city, though.
Even after seeing a solicitor, he found himself powerless.
One could not join the guild if one could not sell in the marketplace.
One could only afford to join if that one could sell in the market.
Where did one go to appeal to a higher power in the land?
Trading in Balator brought him to the cusp of True civilization.
It was there he read of a supercedent writ.
The Emperor's writ superceded the Sultan's. Galadon's Mayor's writ.
If one were to serve the Emperor, it could open the gates.
He could take the merchants' place of power as his own.
Perhaps he could even ascend the throne of the Empire himself..
Oath-Bound
Added Fri Apr 9 19:40:43 2021 at level 21:
The most fantastic palace Hoishyrr had ever seen lay north
of Hamsah M'utazz. He had heard whispers, but he could not fathom.
The litigators and solicitors of the city thought they knew law.
Upon finding his learnings in the warriors guild could net him a place
he learned how one became oath-bound to the Empire.
He would rise. He would see those damned merchants razed.
What does it take to twist the law to your own ends?
The merchants stopped far too short. They would be sorry.
The giant Elite Imperial Blade administered the Blood Oath to Hoisshyr.
Well begun is half done. Hoisshyr bided his time.
Bloodoath and Citizenship
Added Tue Apr 13 12:01:00 2021 at level 25:
From the unruly Black Claw Fort to the Palace of the
Emperor, Hoisshyr found that his ambitions and efforts that
drove him began to pay dividends. He found his place as an
Imperial Blade, using the skills he bought and paid for from
the Warriors Guild in service of the Emperor. Law and Order
when used rightly brought a keen sense of satisfaction, even
as he saw how the wildmen of the outlanders ilk tried to bring
the world of Civilization to ruin. There were many places
where Law and Order were spurned or had not been
developed. The longer he served the Empire, the more he
realized that the felar of his village needed guidance and
discipline.
The forerunners had let each go their own way without
shepherding them into a shape that would benefit them all
and because of this all suffered. Hoisshyr gained in
knowledge, and found a wealth of it from the dark-elf healer,
Rathgar, of the Imperial Divine Order. Rathgar saw Hoisshyr
in his ignorance of the Lord Destuvius, and showed him the
Asylum, the books and the Altar of the Holy Overseer. The
seed of this knowledge began to take root in Hoisshyr, who
began to work on learning what his place was and how his
frustrations as a cub could have been cured if only this
knowledge was shared to the Black Claw fort in times past.
Clarity
Added Fri Apr 16 08:54:08 2021 at level 30:
Spreading Law and Order in the wilderlands of Thera,
Hoisshyr found himself growing in strength and desire
to accomplish more to see Black Claw Fort
ordered like a mirror of the Imperial lands.
Ever using his skills of bartering, he gladly brought merchant gold
to the coffers of the Blade Sect who proudly presented it to the
Emperor for the cause of bringing Order and Law to the world.
Commissioning a custom-designed armor set from the Balator
blacksmith, Hoisshyr used some of his wealth to painstakingly attend
his appearance and presentation for the War Master, the Emperor, and
ultimately for the Holy Overseer.
He took great care in grooming himself each day.
He saw his weapons and armor cleaned and oiled fastidiously, and
began to apply his small, yet growing knowledge of the
Twin Virtues of Dominion and obedience in the facets of his life.
He found he was glad each day to serve in his duties in the Blade Sect
Onerous tasks became less as he learned to value his place in the
world. The Great Lord Destuvius's Grand Design gave him
great comfort in his endeavors. The notion of discipline shown before
and after battle with a calm and well-mannered demonstration
exhibiting the example of civilization was something he never saw
with the Felar kin, but it appealed to him greatly. He worked on
acquiring the speech of those in Dominion to serve them better even
even as he sought to share it with the Obedient to be as clear
and concise he could be.
Dominion and Obedience.
Overwhelming Purpose.
Promotion
Added Mon Apr 26 12:18:14 2021 at level 51:
The years marched inexorably on for Hoisshyr.
Promotions came, as he grew in strength.
It became apparent that even amidst the order and laws of the Empire,
that dissent formed amongst the sects.
The healer Rathgar and Hoisshyr leveraged against one another
to gain position and strength.
Upon gaining his fortieth title, Hoisshyr was approached by the
High Priestess, Jagre, about converting religions for a promotion.
Politely declining, Hoisshyr and Rathgar hatched a plan to pull
down the High Priestess. A plan that led to the Emperor Ahinu.
But before the plan could come full circle, Rathgar disappeared.
Biding his time, Hoisshyr waited for the day he could exact a reckoning
and see the one in Dominion who was unworthy, cast down in the way
of things done in the Empire.
The endless war between the paladin in the Fortress
and the creatures that lived north of Arkham left Hoisshyr with
little time to plot, but he aimed high. To the throne.
He haggled, he bought, he sold, and he became more reputable in the
circles of the merchants, even gaining notice in his guild for his skill.
He would still lay the Guild of Merchants low in his wake.
One day he would be War Master. One day, he would be Emperor.
He would seek the Holy Overseer's favor once more, as he did his part
to spread the Grand Design and see things back in Order.
Merchant Prince
Added Sat May 1 20:54:18 2021 at level 51:
Despite constant battle with the Fortress and the Outlanders
Hoisshyr found himself rising in the influence of merchants.
Wheeling and dealing throughout Darsylon, Dagdan, and Cragstone
he found himself flush with coin, and he oft brought it to the Palace
and to the coffers of the Emperor.
He found he acquired trade connections and a prosperous reputation,
which allowed him late-night deals other merchants didn't get.
Quietly angling for becoming the next War Master, he never forgot
that he set his sights on the Throne of the Emperor.
From such a seat of power, he would finally bring the Hamsah
merchant guild to heel, and sell the fools who spurned him
to the Crystal Isle's as they deserved.
Despite facing insurmountable odds, he ever strove for bringing
the Offering of the Blood Oath so that the Power of Civilization
would be manifest in the land, and particularly Black Claw.
No one would sneer at his kin when they organized in the Grand Design.
No one would sneer at him when he was given Dominion there for
the vision he acquired.
Bringing his millionth coin to the Emperor was a milestone
amongst the many he ambitiously planned for in the future.
Cinders and Flames
Added Sun May 9 12:46:12 2021 at level 51:
In brief respites here and there, Hoisshyr took an accounting.
Removing his armor, and placing it on the racks in the Blade Sect,
Hoisshyr looked in a looking glass to survey himself.
Wicked burns adorn his face, and scars show along his whole body.
Whole patches of previously well-kept fur were gone.
His face showed the signs of intense battles often barely survived.
Shifting his gaze to his armor, he found it a far thing from
When it was first created. Gouges and scratches and burn marks
score the whole surface of it.
Constant battles with the Paladins and the Invokers of
the Outlanders, the Chasm, and the Fortress exposed this Blade
To fire and flame in such great quantities, it was a wonder
He hadn't been burnt to cinders. Enduring for the sake of his
deep desire for Victory, he wondered how long he could endure.
Perhaps one day he would make it to the rank of War Master, but he
beginning to doubt. "My life for the Empire."
Rank and File
Added Tue Jun 1 16:34:59 2021 at level 51:
"We shall see..." The Emperor's words resounded in his ears.
The Empire sought out Citizens far and wide, and constantly looked
to fill the gaps in the ranks as the wars in Thera progressed.
Williad, long-lived and fearsome, took his final rest.
Hoisshyr thought of the War Master's place. In truth,
the doubts lurked about about how he would fulfill his obligations.
From finding worthy Blood-oaths to promoting citizens, he had seen
the task, and even wondered after the divided nature of the sects.
It was with some concern he took the mantle, and more concern with
whether he could retain it. Both Qhefnez and Dhutharlig were worthier
but they, too, had rested out in the fields one final time.
He would take to the obligations, but he had no illusions
that his battles with Thamuuk and Maog would be any
more in his favor. He had not seen Thamuuk and Williad square off often.
It seemed odd to him, when Thamuuk went to such great lengths to
strike the vanquisher to provoke a response.
"....my life for the Empire." But would it be a long one?
Reckonings and Reckonings
Added Thu Jun 17 22:05:44 2021 at level 51:
Since the Immortal Lords of Empire reinvigorated Hoisshyr, he sought
to make himself more useful for the Empire. To bring in Citizens, to
succor those that went to the front lines for the Empire, and for
the ever present battle of retaining the Codex for the Emperor.
The burns on his body faded, and his fur began to grow again with the
Renewal of Spring.
The frequency of his battles did not lessen.
The battles were often seeds planted to grow doubt and envy and hate.
The giant Mojabosombo offered the "Pollen Free Choice."
To join the Outlanders to some degree...to cast off the shackles of the
Power of Civilization. Why should Hoisshyr doubt the Empire?
It WAS Power..and yet, one simple Cloud Giant had stood against it.
Narzas..a psychotic assassin for the Dark Lord Morius, cursed with
tremendous purpose. Often appearing when he was least wanted, and
Managing to offer his victims as a sacrifice to his Dark Lord,
He whispered treason to Hoisshyr. "Why sit on the Throne
that weaker men of have sat upon?"
Hoisshyr's entire existence had been one moment of envying another
to another moment of envying someone else.
He had sought the Empire to gain More power.
He did covet the Throne.
But the ends that it would take him felt little different than now.
Twice now, two beings more powerful than he made him question..
"My Life for the Empire?"

Alarum bells constantly ringing herald a call to arms at the Palace.
Whether defending the Standard of the Empire at the Palace or
striking to return it, the War Master often found himself embattled
from waking to sleeping. He considered much of what he was and
what he could have been. The fell assassin of the Chasm had left
an indelible imprint on him in his way, and so, too had the cloud giant.
He considered this, and his desire for Victory and what it meant
to yearn for the ability to charge in and win the day against all odds.
The appeal wasn't necessarily more power, though he could not help
but admire Mojabosombo's and Narzas's prolific fighting prowess.
Despite being enticed by both to join them, he could not leave his post.
He was bolstered in his place all the more by an audience with
the Emperor where the War Master's recommendation saw Grakkus
raised to the Imperial High Council.
He did not feel like he had shifted the balance in power in the land,
but he knew at some level, he was a bulwark for young Citizens, and
a constant thought to the foes that resisted the marching of the
purpose of the Empire.
He had outlived many a foe in his time, but knew there was coming a day
his spark would be snuffed out, as all are. He did his best
to balance duty, danger, and certain death, but that his time was
coming to an end.
Endings

"Vanpeera, I prepare a final missive to be sent on the
day of my final demise. The creature Grakkor has infiltrated
our ranks, and deceived his way to a place of power.
I regret recommending his raising to the Council.
I leave it to you to work with Ordaza to see him ended.
It will not be enough for you to oppose him as War Master.
Even if the Emperor grants your Blood Reckoning for that regrettable
farce of a competition between the Elite Promotions of you
and Zaktai, Grakkor needs to be made Anathema.
He betrayed the village for the Empire, but I suspect more now.
Perhaps he lacked the strength to rise to commander, so he appealed
to Nalasul to sneak into our ranks to ascend to another command.
I cannot say for certain, however the division Grakkor causes
is against the Law and Order we stand for. We rise together in strength.
The whole reason I chose Grakkor over Gimmur was the lack of skill
Gimmur played the great game of politics in the Empire.
In reflection, Gimmur should have been raised. He could never
have done so much damage in so short a time. He wasn't
that creative.
As my time ends, I wish the favor and fortune of the Immortal
Lords of Empire on your endeavors for the Blade Sect.
I should have requested Blood Reckoning on Grakkor when
he pitted the Black and the Blade sects against one another while
having no youngling to risk in the mix.
Ahinu values an overall strengthening of the Empire.
Prove that Grakkor is a liability. Odaza is your ally in this.
Darkness and Order, Vanpeera.
