Description

The duergar that crosses your vision here seems almost unusual at first glance. He doesnt strike you as overly strong or fierce but neither does he seem harmless. His beard is neatly greased and braided into a point five inches from his chin. His eyes are a very pale shade of grey and he has wrinkles from often squinting in lighted areas. Even his beard is well kept, the rest of him appears dirty, and covered in dust and ashes. His movements are almost lazy, but yet he moves with a certain grace that seems very well studied. A girdle clings to a strap over his left shoulder, and around his waist you see various kinds of weapons all strung to leather strap.

Role

The beginning

It was a dark, stormy night and the rain fell from the skies like a
waterfall. The dark female crossed the small streets of Hamsah Seaport and
ran into Hamsah it self. The child in her arms where screaming, and she tried
to calm it down while she ran. A few horses could be heard in the distance as
well as the commanding voice of the captain of the guards. "Look over there,;role + I think I saw a shadow there".

The woman carried on, but she was exhausted and was about to give up. With
the final effort, she made it into Hamsah and quickly slipped into the
shadows, holding one hand over the mouth of the child. A pack of guards came
running just a few steps away but didnt see her. She slipped around the
corner, and run futher into the city. She came across an altar, but the
guards where guarding it. She ran a bit to the south and left the child at
the door of some part of the church. Hoping she could now escape, now the
child was gone.

The child didnt know what was going on, all he registred was that the one who
had given him food and comfort disappeard out of sight. Then alot of loud
yelling, and the a cream. The sound of it went into every bone of the small
fragile body. The small child started to scream, and then a door opened and a
old man poked his head outside in the rain, looking for the loud noises. Just
when he was about to close the door once again, he looked down and found the
small child at the door step. The man was a shaman of the church in Hamsah
Mu'tazz.

Practice, practice and more practice. The voice in the church was loud, and
several children bowed their heads in silent prayer. The father of the church
stood and watched over the progress the children made. One in particular was
his favorit. He haven't seen such dedication to the prayers he thought his
students before. After the class was over, Hokrur would sit alone deep in his
prayers and that dark dwarf often came, asking the father for other things to
study.

One aspect of the prayers seems to hold the dark dwarfs interest, the art of
poisoning and plague. Often the father saw the small boy lurking around the
edges of the church, trying to find snakes and frogs who where poisoned, only
to see if he could inflict the same type of poison in other creatures, just
with his prayers.

What has Dedication lead to so far

Years have passed, and Hokrur dedicated himself to two things. One of things
is the quest for knowledge, so that he may be able to write that master
piece, that his Lady expect him to add to her library. The other is the
Empire.

The first thing is already begun, but may never be completed. There is always
more to add. More to find, and more to discover. Many areas have yet to be
explored, and many items examined.

As well as research, Hokrur's dedication has taken him far within the halls
of the Empire. Only one above him now in the mortal ranks, and that is the
Emperor. An emperor thats getting old, and seems to be unwanted by many.
However, for now Hokrur accepts that. But if only he shows dedication in this
matter as well, the throne will soon be his to take.
