Description
Charcoal black feathers cover the body of this arial. In certain shades of
light they shift hue from a dark silver to dark blue. Crimson feathers unique
accent the tips of his wings and beautiful streaks of the same colored red
streak down the side of his head and along his back. The only blemish
that is visible on this otherwise well muscled and perfectly toned figure
is a round, white spot on his neck that he seems to go to lengths to
hide with his body position from onlookers.
Role
Born Under the Sign of Fire

The Talshidar High Priest looked on from the back of the cave. He normally wouldn't
trouble with the birth of a child, however, it was convenient and there was some curiosity
to this birth. The child's mother lay dead on a table off to his right, a result of birthing
complications. As one of the Talshidar groomed the newborn and began to wrap him in
cloth he noted with mild interest that the child's coloring was that of a fiery piece of coal
save for an unusual white spot on the side of his neck that looked like an unfortunate flaw
in an otherwise perfect gem. What held his interest was that this boy's coloring seemed to
match the sign of fire, under which he was born. Turning to leave, the High Priest
couldn't help but wonder what future lay in story for this boy.
Climbing the Pecking Order
Added Sat Oct 16 16:46:49 2010 at level 25:
Hrothchuk watched quietly from behind a stone crag that overlooked the desert floor.
Marauders were getting too close to their caves and he and several other young Talshidar
had been sent to eliminate them. Hrothchuk was still young, yet, he had become quite
skilled as a spear warrior. He was always looking to impress as the pecking order was
quite competitive among the Talshidar and he did not wish to suffer the cruelty that went
with being at the bottom of that order.
Seeing two marauders step out of cover briefly Hrothchuk decided to make his move. If
he intended to be atop that pecking order he would need to do something spectacular to
show his dominance among the ranks and these two marauders provided an opportunity.
The marauders were dangerous enough alone, not to mention two at once. It was a
gamble, but, not a foolish one as Hrothchuk was confident in his skills. Swooping down
Hrothchuk ambushed the one marauder wounding him. He spun around and engaged the
second. The wound was not enough to disable the first marauder and for several seconds
that seemed like minutes Hrothchuk was in the fight of his life against two foes. When it
was over, he stood victorious over the two corpses of the marauders. He looked up to see
that his Talshidar companions had been watching him from a short distance. They made
no effort to help as if they were waiting for him to fall so they could seize advantage of
the opportunity themselves. A twinge of anger flooded Hrothchuk at the thought they
would simply watch and let him die but was quickly replaced with the feeling of supreme
satisfaction that he had been successful. He knew the other warriors had thought his
chances to survive to be dire and now that he had won they had to have been impressed.
In a surge of adrenaline to make a final show of his deadliness and strength Hrothchuk
screamed out a mighty warcry, stepped on the neck of one of the marauders, grasped the
corpses' lower jaw and yanked it free with all of his might. He thrust his grotesque trophy
in the air and howled in intimidation at the other Talshidar. Certainly that would secure
his place atop the pecking order.
The White Spot
Added Sat Oct 16 16:48:54 2010 at level 25:
Hrothchuk laughed in a pub among the Talshidar. Some time had passed since that
meeting with the marauders and he had developed quite the reputation for himself. He
had begun to enjoy a dominant almost celebrity type status in the Talshidar society. His
ferocity on the battle field, coupled with his signature display of victory by ripping
jawbones from his pray had secured him a comfortable living as a talent for hire among
the Talshidar. The warriors all respected him and the elite saw him as a valuable tool.
Hrothchuk typically carried a fun and carefree attitude, which could be seen on this
occasion as he joked with other warriors. In fact, to most people Hrothchuk interacted
with he was quite friendly. It was hard to believe that this seemingly light hearted person
was also the cold-blooded maniac that his reputation suggested. Hrothchuk also had a
reputation for being self-conscience about the white spot on his neck. He seemed to be
embarrassed of this white spot as he seemed to think it was a flaw in his otherwise perfect
coloring. In fact, it was this white spot that was often the source of his nearly famous
abrupt mood changes as one young Talshidar was about to find out.
In the middle of a joke Hrothchuk suddenly stopped and stared angrily at a young
Talshidar who couldn't help but absently examine the white spot on his neck. "What are
you looking at??!" Hrothchuk demanded. The young Talshidar stammered as he suddenly
found himself alone facing Hrothchuk as the other Talshidar took a step back forming a
circle around them. The young Talshidar was too slow to utter a word as the next thing
that came out of his mouth was a gurgle that resulted from Hrothchuk slamming his spear
with practiced precision through his chest. The pub quieted. Without missing a beat,
Hrothchuk pulled free his spear, turned to the rest of the pub as if nothing happened and
finished his joke.
The Foretelling
Added Sat Oct 16 16:50:27 2010 at level 25:
Alistin frowned at the news as Kildara retold the foretelling she had received that
morning. The Talshidar mage considered the words as he repeated them in his mind and
decided he did not like what he had heard. The words 'Talshidar Magic, give way to the
fiery one, for its future he effects' echoed over and over again in his mind. He
immediately assumed the fiery one to be the one called Hrothchuk, for he was well
known for having the odd coincidence of being born under the sign of fire with similar
colorings, save the white spot. Alistin thought to himself, how could he influence their
magic's future? Yes, he had been useful to the Talshidar magi on many occasions. In fact,
he was the most reliable when they needed a task done. Assuming the worst, Alistin
decided not to let this foretelling come to pass as he summoned several Talshidar
warriors to him to begin his planning.
Ambush
Added Sat Oct 16 16:53:41 2010 at level 25:
Hrothchuk led the three Talshidar warriors up the path to the opening of the cave high on
a cliff that overlooked the Aryth Ocean. The task was similar in many respects to the
tasks he had done in the past for Alistin. Gather this reagent or artifact. Kill this beast or
man. There was always something he wanted for his magical pursuits and Hrothchuk was
often called upon to attain it for him. The only difference about today's task, he had to
admit made him a little uneasy, was that he usually picks the warrior's he takes, but,
today they had conveniently already assembled three to go along with him.
Hrothchuk suddenly thought to remind the three warrior's of a piece of advice for when
they entered the cave and stopped in the path and turned his body sideways to look back
and say what was on his mind. At the precise moment he turned sideways he was
shocked to see a sword blade whiz inches from his body profile. How lucky he was! He
couldn't have tried to dodge that attacked better if he knew it was coming. Without
wasting a moment to ponder this luck Hrothchuk spun his spear and pierced the
backstabbing bastard of a Talshidar in the neck, fatally maiming him. With a flurry of
wings and speed he disarmed the second Talshidar with the butt of his spear, spun and
ran through the third. Continuing the attack in a nearly seamless motion he spun again
and struck the second Talshidar in the shoulder with his spear tip and pinned him against
the stone ledge. Intensity burning in his eyes he twisted the spear in his hands causing
excruciating pain in the unfortunate warrior as he demanded to know who had set him up.
Hrothchuk felt an uncontrollable hatred well up in him as he listened to the tale of Alistin
and the foretelling from the broken and sobbing warrior.
The Talshidar guard sat on the rock just outside the entrance to the caves overlooking the
desert for intruders. Suddenly, without any warning an object thudded into the rock next
to him causing him to flap his wings to prevent him falling from his perch. He looked
down warily at the object. It was a crude sack. Slowly, he opened the sack and stared in
morbid shock at the mutilated heads of three Talshidar, each missing their jawbones.
Vengeance
Added Sun Nov 28 13:00:57 2010 at level 51:
Hrothchuk walked confidently down the dark passageway. He had passed several
Talshaidar guards on his way in but he had grown too skilled for them to even consider
confronting him. It had been years since he left these caves and much has changed with
him. It was the circumstances of his departure that set him on the path of what he had
become, a Battlerager. He had thought often about the events that happened in these
caves so many years ago. Then, he had been a sword for hire, and his only care was his
status among the Talshidar. That was before the foretelling. He couldn't help but wonder
what would have happened to him had Alistin interpreted the foretelling differently.
Could he have become a champion of Talshidar magi? He shuddered at the thought.
Despite what could have been it was clear to him that Alistin's choice had shaped his
future. This was a lesson that he wouldn't soon forget. The world was malleable, and if
he was intelligent about it he could shape those around him to suit his goals with his
choices. Still, the question of what it all meant lingered in his head. Why him? Why had
he been born under the sign of fire with his markings? Why the foretelling? Perhaps, time
will reveal these answers. And then there was the disturbing recent event of finding out
that he was demon-marked. That had him troubled more than any other thought and he
intended to find a solution to that problem once his task here was finished.
'Alistin! I have come for my vengeance you filthy dog!' Hrothchuk roared as he reached
the outside of the all too familiar door. With a quick kick he busted it in and stepped in
side, spear in hand and murder in his eyes.
