Description
Floating a few inches from the ground, is an exceptionally tall yet
slender and lean fellow. Appearing as if chiseled from living granite, his
giant frame supports sculpted, sinewy muscles even though it is
hallmarked by a gaunt complexion that overshadow his potentially better
features. Trimmed nearly to the skin on the sides and cropped on the
top, stark white hair is groomed and styled to near perfection, although
detracting from this pristine appearance are a pair of sliver eyes that
sink into their sockets and are surrounded by coal shaded colorings.
Much of what covers his body is older in nature and is of drab, earthen
tones, it appears well taken care of. Each buckle, lash, button, strap
and knot is in its proper place and utilized to the utmost purpose.
Across his shoulders is slung a leather pack, wrapped and strapped to
either side are various weapons and a watermarked, bladder-like skin.
A few last details appear to be that...

Almost as faint as a dream of long past, recalling the smooth chill in the
air, the soft caress of individual flakes as they landed upon my skin of
early youth, is sometimes difficult. There were furs that covered my body
and protected my feet back then as we sometimes tromped through the tundra
and faced the boreal terrain. Beware the southerners we were told but we
were yet children and doing what we do, we did not heed the warnings.
They came dressed all in dark clothing, unknown symbols embroidered upon
their chests, weapons, and armament. A swift swarp across the head and the
innocence of youth, faded into an imminent and darkening demise. These men
and women werent the respected elders that led the people, there were no hot
springs to douse away our daily pains, no cheer nor the caress of the chilly
air. They were Udgaardians, and as the stories suggested, we should have
been more afraid of old Loke's men.
This was a dark place, gone were the white expanses of chilly earth, great
wooly beasts that roam, fresh open air, and the hot springs. What replaced
them were based on rule, rule of the strongest, most cunning, wealthiest, and
most brutal. It was nothing like the North, nothing at all, yet it became
home and although brutally accomplished, their order took hold in thought and
action.
Beatings were the most common treatment and the large troll-like jaettes were
the worst. Of course others, flaming giants, were also able to rival our
size and often came close to the cruelty bestowed by the jaettes, our spirits
werent completely destroyed by them but one by one, the others passed away.
Mere slaves, little more than grotesque workers, we had become but now only
one remained.

Thinking back on those dark times, absolution was a great longing, just an
end and then once more to the winds. It almost looked as if it was going to
happen but fortune wasn't favorable. Master had delved into his magic books
to mend broken bones, a decrepit body, and steal away, once more, my chance
at an end to this pain and suffering. This mage stole my end, my peace, my
absolution.
Their ways had ingrained themselves so much so that they became everyday
action, thoughts, and feelings.Their speech patterns were adopted, their
clothing and mannerisms, a strong belief in the importance of dominance and
position, but buried deep within was the longing to overcome and an
unadulterated rage, bubbling quietly below the surface. Eventually a moment
would come to sever the servitude and once more taste freedom.
Although accepting of most of the servitude by realizing that the weak should
serve, the ideal that inspired the most thought was that the feeble could
rise to be the ruler. Remaining unsure if the tactics of deceit, bribery,
extortion, and the like were to be employed, even though Loke made such great
use of them, my pride caused them only to bring forth feelings of disgust.
Having decided not to use that path, force and destruction are a must.
Departure day, as it's now known, began as any other. With a punitive master
working me until upon deaths door, only to resurrect my physical form as the
eve progressed. As night fell, all the sustenance squirreled away filled my
gullet to the brim and with a sopping bit of cloth and a leftover bone's
twisting, the bindings were no match. Off into the horizon before daybreak,
to gain the strength needed to advance my life, my beliefs, and bring enemies
to heel.

After much contemplation about how to best destroy those loathsome beings,
joining a guild for the skills needed to accomplish that vision was needed.
Visiting the glade left a feeling of weakness and empathy, meeting the
forests ranger evoked a sense of cowardice in foliage hiding, but when
arriving at the warriors guild, seeing the guard standing proud, the decision
was made. Shortly after joining however, meeting Georand further changed my
path.
He was a youthful looking human, dark hair and eyes, wearing mostly chainmail
and a bit of plate but it was the look in his eyes that caught my attention.
It said that he knew battle and pain. Applicant of the Village, Georand, he
was called and of them I learned when speaking to him at length. Similarly
we'd been slighted and harmed by magi and so had the village, they were great
warriors to which should be aspired to, they were kindred and where the path
lies.
War Path.

Living a life in freedom is a little unique when compared to that one of
horrid slavery. Coming and going as pleases, fighting, sleeping, learning
whatever suits the desire has been a gift. Although likely indulging a bit
too much, imbibing a bit too heavily, and not adhering to a normal schedule
seems quite freeing, the ramifications can take their toll. These last few
years have brought the taste of death and renewal, and a growing interest in
the talents and tact of war.
Like so many other facets of life, war and combat are coming on as naturally
as size and strength did. The talents may not be impressive by guild
standings but with some gumption and a pair of mighty axes, the first of
those filthy magic using folk knew a little taste of destruction. Although
this was only after a few more poor outings and performances but the
improvements are on their way. This occasion has allowed a certain pledge to
be taken though, another step forward.
The ways of war as they were, were more defined when learning swords and long
blades but the study of the way of heavier and unwieldy axes felt more akin
to my inner destructive nature and this also weighed heavily on the decision
to vie for a position as a Berserker in the village of Battle Ragers. The
undersider, deep gnome, Byantar furthered this belief as we spoke and was
informed to scrawl a letter to all of the villagers stating my purpose, which
has since been completed.
The Ambition.

The smash and clang and resounding noises of battle have become the every day
music which plays for a nightly lullaby and serve to sooth the mind and
provide the tender and spark for pleasant dreams. The days long past of
living in servitude have all but fallen from memory. Their keen sting yet
remains in a few mannerisms and the way of the world view but such is to be
expected of such a horrid experience. The important thing is the long term
sustained growth as a warrior and the job to be completed as a villager.
Although a few painful and haunting memories exist, as a result of past
slavery, the city of Udgaard has become a bit unavoidable. Even going as far
as to offer conscription for a couple minor tasks, although the earlier ones
have since been forgotten and the latter a little more than clearing rabble.
The importance of these tasks is to illustrate that not all from the city are
these horrid beings and that some can be negotiated with because the true
enemy will always be those magi. Their grasping for great power in such an
unkempt and unbecoming way is disgusting.
The truth is that great achievements should be achieved through personal
diligence and hard work. If a warrior, then their keen wit and strong arm,
if assassin their subterfuge and guile, and so forth, each their own learned
tools. For the present, a goal of achieving recognition of my peers as a
leader and an undeterred force of war has been set. With matching or
surpassing Aoirse as my guide and course, I push forward.
The List.

Along one day, enjoying the ocean breeze and admiring several sturdy looking,
ocean going vessels, there was an incident. In retrospect, it is reminiscent
of those long days of slavery to a minor degree. Simply walking on a boat
and a mage comes up and tells me to kill other mages, and at first it seemed
odd. Surely they knew that was a bad idea as an axe soon followed. However,
this wasnt just any mage and a strategic retreat and return was necessary,
lest death follow.
After the retreat, they expeditiously removed me from the ship and I stood
there watching it sail out of sight. This was a mage worth killing, I
thought, and added them to the list. The list is a running tally of magi
that are powerful enough that killing them currently isnt in store, much
like my former master, those roaming mummies, and now this conjurer. In
fact, after failing the second or third attempt to put him down and the one
way trip to battle Maethien Nightwalkers I received, their now at the second
spot from the top of my list.
The list isnt a hard document, more just a mental list of persons who are
prioritized above other filthy magic users. It is not exclusively magi but
is overwhelmingly burdened with their presence. Perhaps one day itll all be
written in a tome with a scratch through each successful name but for now,
its just a list of obstacles in the way to being the best warrior I possibly
can be.
