Description

A being draped in heavy robes floats along, being carried by air and sheer belief that the ground cannot touch her. She is just under 14 feet tall, adorned in long robes that cover her armor, and a hood that covers most of her face in darkness. Still, you can make out emerald green eyes that are almost glazed over with the look of someone who appears to be looking at a completely different reality than everyone else. Those shimmering eyes gaze through, not at. You look into an aged face when the light pierces her hood. Long age lines and wrinkles show a being who'se seen better days. A face that perhaps was once beautiful, now has tasted the inevitable truth of time. Fading as all things do. Still, there's a wise look about her too. As if she knows some answer that others do not. She has an odd smile, seemingly, ever-present that borders on an outright declaration of superiority. Even her long white hair seems to bounce just a little more care-free than others.

Role

Icaeos, From the Northern Druid's Temple

Added Tue Apr 4 05:51:34 2023 at level 1:
Icaeos, who is known by his birth tree, was raised in a cult or spiritual
collective in the Northern Mountains. This group was removed from other Cloud
Giant villages and cultures. They had their own.

The majority of the people from her village were druids or highly sensitive
to the spiritual and natural.

It was there that Icaeos was born and raised. She was educated by scholarly
and mystical Druids who always impressed upon her the need for preservation,
conservation, and dedication.

Icaeos was shown magic and was allowed to practice as she pleased. She was
naturally pulled towards healing and the curing of ailments. At a young age,
Icaeos showed advanced signes of a gift towards protecting life.

However, the peaceful and delicate village, or temple, of her birth has
turned its back on the world at large. They are satisfied living in far and
tucked away from anyone and everyone. They exist with the land, and respect
it for the bounty, and cruelty, that it is and has always been.

Icaeos, on the other hand, has felt an immense and unrelenting pull towards
the very lands they shun. Her group, as free as they are, were hesitant to
simply let Icaeos walk off. However, Icaeos was adamant that she was being
called elsewhere. A force that she could not escape. And so they let her go.

Icaeos has come, now. Down from the mountains to see and know. To find and
secure. To help and to punish.

She does not speak like a fool, for she is educated. She prides herself on
being able to talk and make herself understood if need be.

As she has wandered down out of the mountains she has seen things that make
her weep for the future of "civilization" and what they call "order". It
stinks of an attempt to control what none can. She still wonders if there
can be a path back, however. Perhaps with education. Which is why a main
goal of Icaeos' is to try to educate those who will listen on the benefits
of living free of cities or towns.

Icaeos has spent time communing with this new world, and a feeling continues
to send the same messages and sense. Ergush is all she could make out.
She plans to investigate this Ergush.

Ergush, God of Storms

Added Tue Apr 11 21:18:08 2023 at level 20:
As time marches on, Icaeos of Blackwood Tree has found herself traveling the lands
and engaging with its people. She has witnessed what the "civilized" world has to offer
and has deemed it blasphemy! She is disgusted with the world that "Order" has created
and Icaeos has felt or 'divined' that this path will lead to death of the natural
world and spirits. She feels that each step towards Order is a step away from her own
path and where her ancestral and chosen spirits are guiding her.

Icaeos has found comfort in a small nook off of an untamed and unspoiled forest. This
nook is a special and Holy place to her. It is where she feels her God, Ergush, the
most. Her whole life has been pulling her here.

Icaeos has begun to pray in this Holy place. Praising her Lord, Ergush, and calling
to His name and Divinity. She has yet to hear a return call, but she can be patient.

Her heart tells her to continue to seek out Ergush and pray to His divine will and
authority. As time continues, she plans to think or 'divine' rituals to help or please
Lord Ergush. It is Icaeos' hope and deepest desire to meet with Lord Ergush and explain
how and why she wishes to serve Him.

Wandering, as long as she has, has served Icaeos well as it brought her to a Temple
in the North. This temple was her first true step to learning of Thar-Eris. Thar-Eris
which is the name of this world before... Well before there was anything really.
Before Order and society decided it had a say. There was untamed and free life. Living
as intended. She heard the story, there, in that Holy Temple of the OneHearts. And
since that day she has sought out Thar-Eris and the ways of the Old Ones. Those of
primevil and chaotic forces. The ones she can feel pulling her. Telling her that a
Storm is coming.

She has even joined a like-minded group of free-thinkers known as the Outlanders.
This band of freedom fighters allows her the strength of a pack which, in nature,
can out-perform an individual. Icaeos plans to grow and learn more about Thar-Eris
through her ties with Outlander and its culture.

Lastly, Icaeos sees a pathway to aiding her fellow freedom fighters, but to do so
she will need to grow stronger in her faith, and within her guild. She will pray
for guidance along the way and she hopes to gain Ergush's favor.

A Journey Amongst Trees

Added Wed May 24 10:48:51 2023 at level 38:
Icaeos:

Icaeos has been traveling, hunting, practicing, and growing. She has been working
diligently to try to overcome some of her shortcomings. As much as she likes to
pride herself on being able to speak with intellect, she has to accept the fact that
she simply does not learn as quickly as her peers. Icaeos has noticed others grasping
things that she simply cannot. Or not nearly as quickly. It has been a small
frustration for her. To see that weakness in herself. Still, she has put her faith
in Ergush and her faith is incredibly strong. She trusts His will to make up, and
overcome, any sort-coming. She'll believe blindly, if need be.

The road, for a giant, is long. Icaeos has chosen to work slowly and at her own
pace. She wishes to reach her pinnacle, but when she is ready for it. For now, there
is still so much to do, see, understand, decipher. She trusts His will to guide her.

The Blackwood Tree is a sacred and special thing to Icaeos. It is her birth-tree,
which has special meaning. For Icaeos' people, a birth tree is more than a name. It
is a holy bond between child and tree. Between flesh and bark. Each of her people
have a special bond with the land, and for Icaeos that meant her mother gave birth
to Icaeos inside a blackwood tree as a part of a holy ritual. It is said that Icaeos'
mother had a vision of the very tree and location months before Icaeos was born. An
interesting tale that only becomes more interesting when Icaeos comes into posession
of a Blackwood rod. It seems there may be something to the old tales afterall. As
with most things, Icaeos took it as a sign. A sign she's on the right path.

Icaeos' time in the wilds and in the world have changed more than her ability and
outlook. She has also had some physical changes as well. All cosmetic, but change still.

Icaeos has learned more of the sky and flight, as well, as she has traveled the
world at large. She has begun flying and moving a bit differently over the years.

Nature's Law

Added Wed May 24 11:15:14 2023 at level 38:
Ergush/Augur:

First, Icaeos began by talking to the people from her own group of Outlanders who
had spoken with Him. It was from them she learned the name Haruspex. From there,
she made her way to His holy altar and began to pray. She prayed to a being she
didn't know, but could still feel.

She heard no reply, for some time, but the feeling remained. As she continued to
visit, she must have caught someone's eye because an Augur began to speak. Icaeos
took a moment to gather herself, but she eventually did. The Augur spoke, and
Icaeos listened. She finally felt truly welcomed and at home. She could FEEL the
immense pressure of the world beginning to fade as her faith began to truly take
hold. In short, she was empowered that day. Empowered with the energy, trust, power,
symbol of Lord Ergush. Icaeos was both humbled and shown insight into spiritual
knowledge she hadn't dreamed of before.

The empowerment, for Icaeos, was the most amazing thing she had ever been a part
of. She's in all the way.

The Augur sent her away with a task. A task, that took some time, but was
completed. Next, Icaeos was truly humbled. For Lord Ergush showed himself to her
for the first time. For Icaeos, she essentially stood face to face with her
hero/reason for existing. It was impactful, for her, to say the least. Once again,
He talked and she listened. It was a brief conversation, but within it Icaeos
learned even more of natural spirit energy, and divination.

For the future. Icaeos' main goal is to complete Lord Ergush's task, and learn
even more about life, and life within His faith. In addition, her main overall
goal is to live a life of devotion to Ergush and to see His will done through
her. She would like to, one day, earn his mark and stand by His side as one of
his priestesses.

Another of her goals, within the Ergush faith, is to work on ways to improve her
ability to 'divine' or feel the doings of the world through nature. Such as the
ritual Lord Ergush performed before her. A way of seeing things that are to come,
or may have passed, but through nature and senses. She knows the power of Storms,
and she feels they are beautiful and EXTREMELY necessary things to renew and secure
life. She has been 'reading' the storms, lightning, clouds and the like since she
was young. However, with her new empowerment and understandings of Thar-Eris and
Ergush's garden, she feels she can learn more.

Free Folk

Added Wed May 24 11:32:11 2023 at level 38:
Outlander/Thar-Eris:

Icaeos owes a lot to those of the Tree for taking her in and allowing her to be
a part of the growth and renewal of Thar-Eris with allies at her side. She
remembers a time when she wanted to do it all on her own, but she knows how foolish
that is now.

Over time, she has learned so so much more than she ever could have imagined. The
land provides in such wonderous and strangely familiar ways. That's why she refers
to the lands as Ergush's garden. Because it truly is a bounty.

Icaeos has met many wonderful friends along the way, as well. One of her goals is
to act as a shepherd to His flock. To aid her friends and allies with Ergush's
blessings as He would want.

In addition, another goal is to make sure to guide or steer the Tree towards Lord
Ergush's will, as He is an ancient Himself. As Icaeos grows in faith, she will
share the lessons of Ergush with her allies so they do not go astray and so they,
too, will live a life the way nature intended.

As she continues to grow and learn, Icaeos will learn to use a pen to write down
stories from Outlanders and others. Long ago, in dark times, it was the priests
who kept records and told the stories. They did this for many reasons, but mostly
I think they did it because stories bring us together.

Awakenings

Added Sat Jul 22 16:21:33 2023 at level 51:
When Icaeos came down out of the safety and spiritual community of
her original home in the northern mountains, she had thus far only
experienced a very small niche reality of nature enthusiasts and
spiritual hippies. When she finally made it to the 'real world',
she found herself disgusted, outraged, and disbelieving in the world
she saw other sentient creatures allowing.

Town after town. City after city. She found that, seemingly, everyone
outside of her village had turned on the beauty, bounty, and truth
of the natural world. Instead these so-called 'civiliazed' people
would rather defile this beauty AND suffer mercilessly in their own
designed hell.

After all of her time daydreaming about the greater and grander
world, and all our poor Icaeos found was herself all on her own.
The life of an outcast. For she Absolutely would not find herself
writhing in her own filth like the 'civilized' people. She was hurt.
She was sad. She was alone. And she thought she would always be
alone. For it seemed the entire world had chosen madness.

But she was not alone. No, there were others like herself who knew
something as horribly wrong. Just when Icaeos needed them most, she
heard rumon of "An Awakening". And the mempry of Thar-Eris.

From there, she had found her people. And, in a way, there was a
parallel between Icaeos and The Ancients themselves. For different
reasons, both Icaeos and The Ancients had found themselves slumbering.
Until the truth and horrors could simply no longer be ignored.

Over time, Icaeos began to know and understand more of Thar-Eris.
She began to know the burning anger at what had been allowed to
happen. She learned to understand the confusion and anger of The
Ancients. She, often, would either find herself weeping
uncontrollably or lashing out in anger just at the thought of it all.

However, once again, She was not alone. Again, when she faultered,
just a bit, she found aid. In a true one-of-a-kind Ancient!
Ergush, Lord of Storms, must have felt her anger and spirit, and
He found her.

Awakenings pt.2

Added Sat Jul 22 16:49:54 2023 at level 51:
In Ergush, Icaeos found a true spiritual guide, mentor, friend, and
Deity. Her guild and guild masters could teach technique, form,
channeling, etc. However none of them could fathom the depth of
chaotic, spiritual, natural, and other terms that likely do not exist,
power, and... Insight.

In addition to the actual Divine power, there were these other
insights gained. In addition to the teaching and training, Icaeos
also began to 'feel'! New sense opened up to her. Ancient insights
into her natural surroundings that were hard to fathom. But she was
not afraid. She was inspired! She was... Growing.

Perhaps she wasn't growing in height (well perhaps a little) but
rather in spirit, in faith, in her senses, and in a few other ways
even more difficult to describe. In short, as her faith grew, so
too did her reality.

Still although her reality was indeed growing, she was and is a
a relatively young Cloud Giant fillet with Chaotic spirit and energy.
She was, and is, grateful to the Outlanders, who took her in, and
thus wanted to show them she was worthy. Icaeos would see other Cloud
Giants and even other races of giants strutting with huge weapons
and boasting about their combat prowess.

Naturally Icaeos was a little jelous of their great war accomplishments
of putting down dangerous threats to Thar-Eris. So she wanted to
show her fangs too. Icaeos fought, often, like a warrior and not
at all like a healer. Standing before dangerous foes and not backing
away or getting behind a warrior or brawler. No, she proved that
it COULD be done. Even with some poor choices and losses under her
belt, Icaeos has shown exceptional, if not unbelievable, combat
ability. However, now that she has aged and grown, she's beginning
to ask herself: "Is there a better way?"

Icaeos, for over 5 centuries, has adventured, grown, died, bled,
shed tears, laughed hard, ran, flew and on and on in this land of
Thera. She's lost dear friends, met Divine cats, traveled great
distances in but a step and a prayer, and yet it seems her awakening
is still yet to happen.

However, she has had the time to see the connections between the
natural and spiritual connections she was making. She felt the bond
between herself and animal when she uses 'beast call'. She has
studied, felt, and understood the anger and rage of The Ancients,
training of Lord Ergush, with Ancient Instincts continueing to
unlock in her heart and mind. It's all swirling together now.
Coalescing at the right time in the right ways...

At her pinnacle, now, and with faith strong in her soul, Icaeos
looks fondly and with great interest at the future. She'll see these
Awakenings through. Both hers and Hers.

Storms

Added Sat Jul 22 17:20:14 2023 at level 51:
Icaeos had a spiritual vision, recently. She doesn't have them often,
but something about this one particular ancient forest, just south
of the Halfling lands, must have awoken somethin in her. In the
vision, Icaeos was watching her own birth. She was there, as if it
was reality. However, she was not inside the Blackwood Tree that
her baby-self was in. Grown-up Icaeos was standing outside the
Blackwood Tree. She, somehow dream related, knew everything going
on inside during the birthing, but still, where there was calm and
happiness going on inside the Tree. Outside raged a storm that
blackened the sky and ripped smaller trees right out of the ground.

That was it. Just a vision of her own birth, but from outside the
Tree. Icaeos knew it was true. The storm that is. However, she
couldn't understand why no one from her village told her about the
hurricane the night she was born. Icaeos can't think of a storm
that size ever hitting her village before. It should have been
a major talking point, or at least a mere mention. But in all her
thinking on it, Icaeos can't remember a single word ever being
uttered about the storm of the century that happened to be on the
night of her birth. Odd.

This vision did not happen in a vacuum, of course. Icaeos has always
been interested and fascinated by storms. The sheer magnitude of
power being released. The symphony of flashing lighting. Winds that
could topple a giant. Rain like pebbles falling from the sky. What's
not to like? And Icaeos felt this way before her newly realised
growth and understanding. Now, she understands storms are FAR more
than power and fury. They offer renewal. They can cleanse as well
as destroy. They also allow chaos to unfold, as it should. Sometimes
some things NEED to be torn down and blown apart. For something else
possibly better to take its place.

Still, recently, her odd fascination has become far more interesting.
Through her spiritual training and searching with Lord Ergush,
Icaeos has developed a brand new sense of the clouds, lightning,
rain. All things weather and storm related are almost impossible
for Icaeos not to notice. Something as simple as a cloud shifting
in the sky and Icaeos notices and feels... Feels there may be a
connection.

In short, Icaeos has begun to notice storms and violent or
unseasonable weather happening more and more around her. Like...
It's following her? Or maybe she's following it? Who knows? All
Icaeos will do is keep observing in hopes she sees... something she
hasn't yet. As was noted, Icaeos very much likes the storms. If
anything, Icaeos feels it's others who should be afraid. She'll
accept the storms wrath, mercy, or other.

New Challenges, Hopes, and Objectives

Added Sat Jul 22 19:23:08 2023 at level 51:
First on Icaeos' list of important things to accomplish is to continue
trying to understand Lord Ergush's laws better and how to share His
Laws, which are really Natural Commandments, with the people of Thera
and more specifically, the people who choose free thought and natural
living over sickness of 'civilization'. She has already put a great
deal of thought into this very subject and some of her thoughts will
be touched on in this update but within another goal. In the immediate
future, Icaeos will finish Lord Ergush's task for her Fourth Law.

Second, and already heavily touched on in a recent role entry, Icaeos
will continue to study, admire, 'feel', and watch the skies and unusual
weather patterns. She wants to better understand this fascination and
seemingly chaotic power.

Third, Icaeos wishes to become a better 'healer'. Recently, Icaeos had
the pleasure of traveling with her first group mate who was also a
healer, by profession. Icaeos is used to doing things her, unsusual,
but mostly effective way. It's been more savage. More brutal. But Icaeos
truly can say she's done a lot of good for her friends, allies, and for
Thar-Eris. Still. While working with this other healer, who was Elven,
Icaeos realized that she was far too easily tired, mentally, to aid
nearly as well as the well rested and inspired Elf. It was somewhat
embarrassing, truly. But now that Icaeos can see some of the places
she went wrong, Icaeos plans to work harder on becoming mentally
prepared for the challenges ahead. Also, with her vitality fading,
and the fact that even Lord Ergush questioned wheter she was inspiring
others as best she could. Thus a change, of sorts, will be made.

Icaeos' fourth goal is to seek out more of the lands to adventure
and sense, using her 'ancient instincts'. These are taboo to speak
of, even amongst those of the Refuge. Still the knowledge felt,
observed, and benefitted from has been immense. Even from a more
meaningful stance, such as this ancient knowledge, that has been
lost and forgotten for so long, can still be felt or transferred,
and remembered again by completely new beings. It speaks to the dream
of The Ancient's also being able to be remembered and felt again. Which
may very well lead to their full awakenening. Icaeos also seeks to
continue her adventuring to fill and satisfy her wandering spirit. She
is a being of chaos and wandering afterall. Her immediate adventuring
goals are to slay the ancient Green and Blue Dragons on her way to
saying their Queen Tiamat. Other adventures await as well.

New Challenges, Hopes, and Objectives pt.2

Added Sat Jul 22 19:41:21 2023 at level 51:
New Challenges, Hopes, and Objectives pt. 2

Her fifth goal is to continue collecting stories from Outlanders, mostly
of some stature and time spent as an Outlander, of what these free folk
would like to pass on to the next generation or generations. Icaeos
is not putting many stipulations on the stories, because she doesn't
want to decide for someone else what they might find inspiring or useful.
However, if it's crude or purely useless then she'll likely discard it
quietly. Now, this isn't something Icaeos is doing for cherity's sake.
No no. Icaeos is a savage healer, not a bard or historian. No
There is far more to it than that, but Icaeos plans to speak
directly to Lord Ergush about that. The biggest issue is that
she has no idea where or how she'll get them preserved for the
future free folk to see and read. She'll work on that though.

Lastly, Icaeos sixth goal is to continue to do her best to be
the shepherd of His flock that she has always tried to be. She
can be there to provide aid in health or protections. Perhaps she
can be a kind ear for someone not only complaining about life's
hardships, but rather just needs someone to take the time to
Hear them. She will aid many to grow. Shw will aid many in finding
armor and wares to keep them safe and able to defend themselves.
She may also help some train in skill or spell. Many many things
does Icaeos have to offer. For this is how she can provide for
Her. By making sure the next great nature magus, or Forest
warrior has the right mindset, skillset, and tools to defend and
renew Thar-Eris.
