Sleek, toned muscles seem to ripple under the plumage of this female arial.
Her beak is somewhat petite, and her black eyes are striking in their gaze.
For those who know the traits of arials, almost everything about Iebela seems
common and plain. Her height is average for a female of her race. The
feathers that you can see are beautifully formed, but are mottled brown with
some spots of white, marking her bloodline common as well. The armor and
weapons you see on her person seem to indicate that she is a warrior, again
nothing unusual.
The one thing that seems to really stand out is a clump of feathers tied to a
necklace upon her throat, which sparkle a bright emerald-green.

Origins: Youth in Grig'Agali

Iebela was but a young hatchling when she became conscious of how poor her
lot in life was marked to be. Born into a family in the Ayr'Trinil ghetto
called Grig'Agali, she spent her youth in abject poverty. Iebela never knew
her father, who had taken her mother against her will. Iebela's mother,
though kindly, was resigned to her fate and accepted this "life" for both
herself and her daughter; indeed, her gaze was hardly ever lifted up to the
heights of the mountain-city, preferring not to think about that which she'd
never have.
Iebela's heart, however, always rebelled against her lot in life, for
curiousness of youth made her often inquire WHY she should accept this
pitiful existence. She always felt that she was destined for... for
something great. Every time she passed the word "Shame" carved near the
shapeshifter's guild, Iebela vowed that shame would not be hers. Her life,
she vowed, would not have the insignificance of her parents.

Unfortunately for her, as she thought at the time, Iebela inherited both her
mother's beautiful -- though plain-colored -- plumage and her father's sleek
muscles, making her quite attractive. This attractiveness brought her quite
a bit of attention from the ghetto's many gang members, who didn't mind the
grime that dulled her sheen. It was during one of these encounters that life
took its first twist for Iebela....
"C'mon, you know you want some of this," hissed the Grig'agali Crow, waving
his shank at Iebela's neck as he backed her into a corner. "If you ain't got
no coins to give me, you gotta give me something else."
Iebela could tell that this crow, more mature than those of her previous
encounters, meant to carry through with his threat. Rage began to build in
her heart that her destiny would be the same has her mother. As Iebela's
back touched the wall, that rage somehow translated into action. The crow
hissed and swore in anger has he pulled his own shank out of his thigh.
Murder blazed in his eyes as he started forward one again, and the dull iron
shank dripped blood upon the feathers of filthy street. Iebela prayed that
fate would bring a swift death.
A blaze of lightning interrupted her prayer, striking the crow down just a
few feet from Iebela. A huge black arial flowed out of the shadows, and
though his eyes were no kinder that those of the crow, at least they
appraised her like a slab of meat rather than something alive.
"You, I might have use for you," the dark figure said. "Come with me."
Iebela hesitated, obviously wary, until the figure spoke again. "Come with
me... up the mountain."
Origins: The Lhiltrill and Lovelife

The arial who had rescued her, Iebela would come to learn in time, was of the
infamous Lhiltrill bloodline of anti-paladins, and had trained to use his
dark arts as a bounty hunter. Iebela became a type of honeytrap, luring men
into compromising situations where the Lhiltrill could capture them. For her
part, Iebela received training with the small dagger she kept hidden on her
person, and her feathers were frequently bleached and dyed brilliant colors
to make her more attractive and keep her from being recognized.
Iebela both loved and hated her new life. She hated surrendering something
so personal to such distasteful men, but her newfound role gave her both
money and power. Any thoughts of ending up like her mother were banished by
the mage's magic, and she left other thoughts of her mother behind as well.
Hadn't she started along the path to greatness and better life, something
that defied the experience of most arials?
As for those captured or killed by her caretaker, Iebela tried to keep the
thoughts of betrayal out of her mind. Most of them, she was sure, had earned
their end.

Her feathers now a brilliant emerald-blue, Iebela felt genuine happiness as
Agill walked up, and she realized that she had softened towards the
Lhiltrill's latest mark. He had proven to be a difficult capture -- the
bounty was a live one only -- because never before had anyone treated her
with such respect: they had not yet been alone.MostMost of those she assisted
with used her as surely as the ghetto crow would have. But Agill seemed
even-tempered, even nice, and Iebela had begun to dread the look of betrayal
he would aim her way when he was captured.
Iebela strolled with Agill down the Niov'Lvyr Promenade, the first time she
had ever seen its mansions and lush gardens. And as Agill leaned over and
whispered that they should find some privacy, Iebela forgot that she was just
playacting and nodded excitedly. This time it would mean so much more than
just business.
The first bedroom caress had just begun when the door to the room opened,
whisper-quiet. Iebela stiffened in Agill's embrace as she saw the startled
look that the Lhiltrill gave to her lover. As he charged, axe leading the
way, Iebela's squack died in her throat, surely as Agill did as the axe
lopped off his head.
The axe in the Lhiltrill's hands gave a piercing howl as Agill's corpse fell
lifelessly, and the Lhiltrill cackled. Iebela realized that the strength of
Agill's soul had doomed him to death, but death was not finished this day.
As the Lhiltrill searched Agill's corpse, the very hand and dagger that he
had trained flashed as Iebela dealt a fatal blow.
Disgusted with her weakness and the role she had played in her almost-lover's
death, Iebela ripped out a handful of her own emerald-blue feathers and fled.
A kernel of hatred growing in her heart, she vowed to never be a slave to a
mage again.

Iebela grew up in the ghetto of Ayr'Trinil, but unlike most arials, she vowed
not to let her life be as small as that of her parents.On her adolescence,
about to be attacked by one of the local thugs, she was "saved" by an
anti-paladin. This anti-paladin of the Lhiltrill line forced her into a type
of prostitution, using her to ensnare victims with bounties on their heads.
In Iebela's last assignment, she was treated so kindly by her mark, Agill by
name, that she fell in love. What was supposed to be a live capture turned
into Agill's death to strengthen the Lhiltrill's unholy weapon.Iebela
managed to slay her so-called benefactor and escape. She has vowed avenge
herself against mages with a special hatred for anti-paladins. Having
already accomplished more than what would be expected by her "class", she
feels she is bound for yet more.
Adventuring Outside Ayr'Trinil: Summary

Much has changed in Iebela's life since she managed to avenge Agill's death
to the Lhiltrill anti-paladin. She fled to the Academy of Thera and poured
herself into her warrior training. There, and augmented by the tomes in the
Celestial Lyceum, she learned of a Village of warriors dedicated to ending
the existence of mages across the lands. Though only wronged by one mage,
Iebela has extrapolated that guilt -- the Lhiltrill's -- into a vendetta
against all who use magic. While Iebela would be content with the cessation
of the use of magic, she is not half-hearted in her approach and is willing
to spill blood, going so far as to swear an oath by BoltThrower's axe to that
effect.
Iebela's own guilt for the role she played in Agill's death has become a
prime driver in her life. Though she was not able to stop the Lhiltrill's
attack from ending Agill's life, Iebela has vowed that she will defend her
(hopefully) soon-to-be kindred within the Village, and to pursue this defense
fervently.
Her reading in the Lyceum has also lead her toward the path of Arvam, whom
she feels a kinship to not because of their shared race but because of their
shared understanding -- at least she thinks -- of passion and drive.
