Role
Conquering the Unconquerable
Added Mon Mar 16 14:42:19 2009 at level 51:
Somehow, Iktul has managed to stay on top. He claims that he is Qaledus's
bastard child and inherited the charm and charisma of the Thief God. He has
conquered both crime, and law, and uses both to his advantage to keep his
power as one of the most influential and powerful figureheads in the world.
The time has come, however, that he is beginning to show signs of aging.
Wrinkles, physical exertion where once he was never tired, aching in his
muscles and bones..the thought of aging terrifies him and infuriates him. So
focused on completely dominating and controlling everything he encountered,
he didn't notice that his physical self was slipping away from him. He has
made ammends to keep the affects of aging at bay via magical pendants he
wears, which make him seem 20 years younger than he actually is. Though he
understand this only buys him the time needed to formulate a plan to conquer
death itself. Ahtieli, who he has used from the beginning (or been used by),
shares the view that it is important to maintain Iktul's life force, and
assured Iktul that there were ways to make his physical self immune to the
affects of age, without addling his brain beyond repair. With this glimmer
of hope, Iktul approached his Lord Enlilth. Iktul and Enlilth spoke of the
possibility that Iktul could use the wealth of the protected cities thieves
guilds to buy his way into eternal life. Iktul explained that though Ahtieli
worked her entire mortal life to become a master of the dead, he has no such
aspirations of power, and wishes no control of magic. As long as he keeps
his wits and abilities, he has all the power he's ever needed to conquer and
control. Iktul understands the risks of presenting his plan to Enlilth, and
the difficulties such a plan brings to all involved. But Iktul will not
watch his power slowly trickle away with the weakness of aging, he will not
watch his enemies rise up before him when he loses the strength to carry on
his every day duties, both in the guild and in the Spire. Iktul would much
rather die trying to conquer, than being conquered, be it to aging or
anything else.
On Top of the World with a Fear of Heights
Added Tue Jan 20 12:14:10 2009 at level 51:
Well, he's done it. Tooth, claw, and nail. Iktul has risen to the top of both
the Lawless and the Law. He has learned valuable life lessons along the way.
no one, take everything you can, and don't give an inch. Some would
say he is overly generous with his thieves, some more than others for various
reasons. But for every gold he gives to bring in a new thief, it is another
gold he would have donated to his name anyway, and it all goes to the same
place. Keeping his thieves able to serve through clothing, coin, or anything
else they might wish gives him eyes and ears all over the world at any given
time. Thirty six thieves to this point, eyes and ears.He has brought to
justice at least six criminals already based on reports from the thief guild
of crime in towns.
Dedication and years to the Spire finally paid off. He has full control over
the entirety of the Tribunal cabal outside of Immortal influence. He
remembers past grudges, betrayals, and annoyances well, but has agreed to put
them aside for the betterment of working together with his Magistrates. He
has a lot to learn abouth is new found powers, but feels confident that they
will serve him to their fullest capacity.
The issue now, is keeping the power he has gained. Iktul is very paranoid.
Beneath his intimidating facade to all he comes into contact with lies a very
worried soul. Iktul knows that the one thing about having power over
everyone else is that everyone else wants it for themselves. Loyalty goes to
the man with the most coin, and when he runs out of one he runs out of both.
Iktul sees enemies in every shadow ready to take over his guild, and ambition
in the eyes of every Magistrate, ready to take his place as Provost. Now
more than ever Iktul keeps a wary eye on all he comes into contact with.
Leadership: The assurance that things go your way.
Added Wed Dec 31 12:18:22 2008 at level 40:
Iktul has come a long way from the common street runner he was as a child. He
has taken to the life of the Tribunal Kingpin like a duck to water. Already
he sees the importance of bringing in new blood to his guild, and making the
new members feel welcome and content. The more thieves he has working under
him, the greater his network of eyes and ears in the criminal world. He takes
the position of Kingpin seriously, and will do what it takes to build the
guild up from the nothingness it is currently into a formidable organization.
Other guilds he is not fond of, and will consider them to be enemies, whether
openly or from the shadows.
Becoming a Magistrate of Galadon was a turning point in his life. Even that,
he stole by joining the guild himself and changing his hometown to Galadon. A
bit wary of the transition at first, it seems the change of Tribunal status
to Galadon will be allowed, thus he began donating to the guild and overtook
it as it's Kingpin. The Spire, in some
ways is a lot like his guild. He understands that the more Magistrates there
are, the tighter the reigns on crime will be, thus more criminal corpses for
the pillaging, and more control over others as a senior member of the Spire.
He has hopes of taking in leadership of some sorts, be it Provost or
Provincial. Mostly he does not like seeing other Magistrates giving him a bad
name by their actions, and wishes to have a say in who serves beside him. He
is keeping to the straight and narrow path, and other than one instance with
Lord Marcatis in which he knew a crime victim was lying about his witnesses
because the witnesses in question weren't near at the time of the crime. He
hopes his clean record will prove his trustworthiness and dedication to the
Spire's cause. As the Spire grows more powerful, he hopes to as well.
Politics
Added Mon Dec 15 12:46:58 2008 at level 36:
Iktul sees himself as quite the businessman on top of being a dutiful
Magistrate. He is always looking for an opportunity to further himself in
the eyes of others, both within the Spire and without. While he might be
seen giving items away to others, true greed is his motivation, he considers
giving things to Imperials, Scions, or even Lightwalkers 'investments', and
expects to be paid back with little cost to him since the goods were stolen
to begin with. He can also usually be seen scouting out for other factions
during his free time off duty. Not only does this present opportunities to
relieve corpses of their worldly possessions, but it grants him usefulness in
the eyes of powerful individuals, such as liches, Chancellors, Emperors, or
other more powerful beings than he. He weaves an intricate web for himself
while remaining within bounds of his duties to the cities, and has high hopes
of entering the Galadon guild soon to take it over. Once he is in the
position of Kingpin of Galadon, he will have the services and control of the
elite thieves of the world. With his badge and control of crime, he sees
endless possibilities to the wealth he can accrue and the power he can gain.
He has in no way sought to or become corrupt during his duties to the Spire,
and will continue to remain loyal to the concepts of law and order throughout
his attempted reign, hoping to better himself in the Spire for more control
and a tighter grip on the economy.
Tribunal
Added Sun Dec 7 11:07:26 2008 at level 34:
It didn't take long for Iktul to bribe his way into a recommendation from a Magistrate
saying he would make a completely wholesome and worthy member of Tribunal.
Iktul gained his badge soon after, having ran the backstreets of every protected city
and proving he knew where everything was, as well as reciting every law in every scenario possible
during his following interviews. As Iktul spends more and more time as a Magistrate he comes to understand
the necessity of the Spire in protected cities, and actually enjoys his duties. Even though he follows
the law to a T, he is able to run a profitable market and bust heads outside the city,
encouraging others to spend their time within the cities themselves and thus boosting commere and
money flow towards the economies within. He doesn't mind keeping his thuglike behavior separate from
his badge wearing behavior within the cities, but criminals beware if he should catch them on duty.
Otherwise as far as criminals go, he thoroughly enjoys making practice of hunting them while off duty, sticking
to them like a fly on stink, harrassing them to the point that they just may as well turn themselves in,
or such has been the case thus far. He has quick hands and a quick wit for his thiefly training thus far
and enjoys putting others in the humiliating position of being completely helpless while tied.
Iktul has aspiriations of becoming the Kingpin of Galadon one day, as Galadon is the height of
economic and commercial power in the realms, why wouldn't he wish to be in charge of it? He knows
that the Spire will have him changing hometowns repeatedly though, so until he has a badge to
serve in Galadon with, he holds off joining the guild. He knows this is unavoidable and will set him back
in donations, but what are banks for.
Basic Intro
Added Wed Dec 3 13:16:45 2008 at level 1:
The seedy underbelly of most of Thera's cities has the same structure. A shadow world of
thieves, assassins, and whores. 'Work' can be done if you know who to contact, and usually
anyone 'in the know' can have an adversary bumped off for a price. Iktul was just another whore's get.
He didn't know his father, obviously, and he didn't get any love from his mother.
It didn't take long for him to become a runner, a package here, a missive there. He earned
a bit of street credentials and managed not to get himself cut up in the process.
He joined a local organization that ran adverse to the guild, that was
a problem. Not having guild ties led to countless raids from local law types, and
pretty soon all of his mates were busted up and rotting away in the river or in a cell.
Going lone wolf wasn't usually an option in the thug world, but being fairly street savvy
he has a master plan. inspired by the violence of local authorities, who were nothing
more than crooks with badges, he decided to get his own law racket going. He can play that game.
He works towards a goal of creating his own organization via the guard of the Blood Tribunal.
Knowing his hometown would be reassigned constantly, he's opting not to set up with a guild
until he's settled in somewhere and getting fat perks along with gold as shiny as his badge.
Nothing wrong with busting the heads of a few criminal competitors along the way, he has
no problem with getting rich the 'legal' way.
