Description
You find yourself looking at a petite elven woman, perhaps six feet
tall. Large green almond-shaped eyes peer back at you as you take in her
appearance. Fine blonde hair, flowing down her back in two ponytails, almost
reaches her feet. A robe of soft cloth in dark red is wrapped around her,
fit snugly around her feminine curves. A fine cloak of a flattering green is
thrown over that carelessly, lending a certain thoughtless charm to her. Her
bare skin is a light gold, from travels in the sun, and a spattering of
freckles across her cheeks and upturned nose make her look younger than she
must surely be. Her long graceful strides and her quick movements confirm
that she is fit and trim, something her light clothes hadn't hidden much of.
Upon her inner left wrist you notice the marking of a diamond ringed by
multi-hued stars.

Added Sun Sep 1 19:15:26 2013 at level 1:
This is an odd place to be writing from. An odder journey to get here. Twenty
five years ago I would have laughed at you if you said to me that I would
become a Paladin.
Being raised by humans had advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand I
was tended to, cared for, and taught to live life day to day, moment to
moment, as only a human can. On the other hand I did not learn how to act
proper, or behave as my high society bloodlines would have otherwise
dictated. My parents, Kaity and Taberlen, owned a small tavern called 'The
Last Resort'. It was literally the only inn north of the gnome city of
Hillcrest, and the lands north of it have still not all been properly
explored and settled.
Don't get me wrong, my human parentage instilled in me a sense of adventure,
honor, and love of life...but at the same time I learned how to drink a dwarf
under the table, entertain men in ALL activities they were interested in, and
otherwise how to give in to desires and passions unbecoming of an Elven lady.
In short, truly living moment to moment with no sign of a bigger picture,
greater good, or general usefulness to Thera.
So you may be asking why I am a Paladin in Galadon now. As it turned out,
being so far off the beaten path it.....-cut for basic first aid training-
My Second Journal Entry: More History
Added Sun Sep 1 21:02:55 2013 at level 8:
I got a bit distracted. I get very caught up with things so sometimes it is
difficult for me to keep up with current events, yet I was advised to do so.
Whoever ends up reading these, you'll just have to be patient with me.
As I was writing before..The Last Resort was far away from any major cities,
in fact it was very much off the beaten path. My adoptive parents settled
there because it was where my father was born and it is where they both
retired to spend the rest of their years in reverie and merriment.
Unfortunately for all of us, during their adventurous years they made many
enemies of bandits, brigands, orcs, goblins, mages, cursed creatures and a
variety of ne'er-do-wells.
I took the destruction of The Last Resort fairly poorly, and the death of my
adoptive parents hit me much harder. They had already made plans for me with
members of the town in case something happened to them, and I was directed to
Darsylon soon after their demise. Needless to say I did not fit in. I felt
snubbed from the get go and had taken up a healthy amount of drinking,
dancing, cavorting, and general poor behaviors to fill in the gaps the loss
of my loved ones and home created.
I will skip all of those memories and convey the experience that changed my
life. I saved a life, and it was the greatest thing that ever happened to me.
It was an elven child, set upon by a human and being toyed with and beaten. I
cracked the human over the head with a stick, and I'll never forget the look
upon the child's face. I will write more on how I got here later!
Journal Three: Finishing my History, Thoughts of the Future!
Added Mon Sep 2 15:20:52 2013 at level 21:
I was always pretty mean with a broom, dedicating myself to staves and
halberds just made sense to me. Shields are too bulky, I'd slice my head off
with a two-handed sword, and my hands will never have the iron strength of a
true monk.
I researched different Gods of the Light and I was most excited about Arvam
Raenau. His followers tend to be in the thick of it at all times, and are
allowed to follow their passions as far as they can. I feel like if I channel
my past passions that weren't beneficial towards the Light and the Guild I
could really be a beacon to others. Obviously I took vows of chastity and
have told myself I won't drink outside of religious ceremony, but having
tempered my will and refocused those energies elsewhere will be what makes me
successful.
I've begun to hunt down the wicked outside of the cities and apply what
training I've already learned...I really need to slow down and ask Arvam if
he is okay with me following his ways and if I might represent him. I keep
getting caught up in the moment and I'm advancing too swiftly without really
taking everything into consideration. I hope to meet him soon. I pledged
myself to the Spire. I feel like I can protect more people as a Magistrate
and do a greater good there than I could in the Fortress. The Spire needs a
lot of help, it is mostly wicked beings that I've noticed. I hope to one day
cleanse it of all of them, but one thing at a time!
Journal Four: Angry Encounters, Bribing the Corrupt, Service Projects
Added Wed Sep 4 16:23:46 2013 at level 32:
Finally something of interest to write about!
I've made progress towards the eventual cleansing of the Spire, and it
couldn't come soon enough! Today I walked in upon an anti-paladin murdering a
dwarf in the Spire itself! Perhaps it wasn't an 'adventurer' as such, but it
was still a dwarf! He had summoned it to the Executioner and was in the
process of slaying it. It was everything I could do to not bash him over the
head with my quarterstaff! Instead I controlled my anger and healed the
dwarf, the anti-paladin, Yundisobo, had the nerve to write a missive to all
the Spire about it later, as if I were wrong for what I did. This is how I
responded:
[ 46] Wed Sep 4 15:59:38 2013
From : Ildilintra
To : Tribunal Yundisobo
Subject: Murder in the Spire
It is odd this anti-paladin speaks to me of running and hiding yet uses the
Spire as his personal hunting ground.
An on duty Magistrate has no right to murder dwarves in the Spire, this is
what I walked in to see him doing by our Executioner.
I simply healed the dwarf then after the danger had passed I summoned him out
of the Spire to safety.
The Spire and our calling is one of service to others, not service to
ourselves and our own power.
The Spire should never be used in such a direct manner of personal gain, in
my opinion.
Perhaps this will clear up confusion as to murder within the walls of the
Spire.
-Ildilintra
---------------------------------
I immediately began work on two things after this:
1. I had a long discussion with Corlx the High Herald and Kingpin of Galadon
about corruption within the Spire and what it means to his guild
futuristically. I told him of my long range plans of cleansing the Spire of
the wicked, and he agreed to aid me by using my idea of bribing the evil
would come up with some other tests and keep me posted on his progress. When
I've compiled this list of bribable Magistrates I will present it to the
Provost.
2. I have an idea I'd like to see implimented called Service Projects. I
would like their to be a requirement for all evil Magistrates to create their
own personal service projects for a protected city they are serving in. Evil
Magistrates do not serve, they leech the power of the Spire for their own
Magistrates for small things like leaving town at certain times. He said he
benefit. These projects will have a required element of weekly updates and
are open ended to the Magistrate to create. If they do not participate in
these events, they will be cast out. This will prove they are out to serve
the Spire and Citizens, not themselves.
This is enough to keep me busy for a little while! Hopefully I can continue
to temper my anger and righteousness and maintain my duty as a Magistrate
long enough to see these things carried out!
Five: Landslide Hunger Drive, Service Projects
Added Wed Oct 9 07:56:30 2013 at level 51:
I am so sorry! So much time has passed since I found this dusty thing and
wrote in it.
I am SO excited about my upcoming event the 'Landslide Hunger Drive' as
sponsored by the Galadon Warrior's Guild! Arvam has agreed to help me with
it. It is a competition at heart, but truly it is a GREAT benefit to Thera.
It raises the awareness of impoverished citizens and makes people actually
help each other. I've had several people tell me that they can't attend the
event, but they'd like to donate, so I tell them to take food to the hungry
and that I don't need money!
The competition itself is in two parts, part one is gathering food.
Contestants will enter ONE sack or container. They cannot use items from a
pouch of nourishment, they cannot use holy bread, and they cannot have more
than 5 items of any one food object. Winners will be chosen based on weight
of their containers. If it were me I'd hire a mercenary to carry my sack for
me!
Part two of the competition is distribution. Contestants will spread out all
over Thera and begin to pass out any food item to any impoverished person.
They will pen Arvam and I a missive with a list of every person they gave
food too, the person with the most food distributed to the appropriate
needful people wins!
That is coming up in four days!
The second thing I wanted to write about was the Spire and my progress there.
Nopilopil was very cheery at having received a greater form to shift in to
with my help I think. He has agreed to let me implement my Service Projects
for the wicked! He says that wicked applicants will need to get my approval
before he'd bring them in, and I was allowed to ask them to complete a
service project before giving them my recommendation.
I'm slightly concerned about the Code in all this. The Code says I'm not
supposed to associate with the wicked in any way. I think at the end of the
day I'm not associating with them, I'm showing them how to be better people.
I'm also keeping the majority of the bad people out of the Spire. I'm hoping
this process will filter out most all of them, and at least the ones that it
doesn't have proven they aren't ALL about themselves.
That is all for now!
Faenral
Added Wed Oct 23 06:06:02 2013 at level 51:
Spire, and as he made his change I became motivated to speak with him to see
if he had any interests in serving as I did.
So when he lost his wicked aura from conversations with Corrlaan, we spoke at
length about what service to the Spire meant as it relates to protecting and
serving the innocent. He said he had aspirations of becoming a healer and I
thought that was perfect. What better way to help usher this spirit to a
place among the Light then by direct guidance in service to others?
He agreed that the Spire was a very noble place of service and he agreed to
serve with all of himself until the end of his days. On his first day on the
path he made a mistake and flagged an Imperial he should not have out because
he thought he had taken items from a corpse and he was biased against
Imperials. We spoke about the need to lose these thoughts and emotions, that
justice must be even tempered and fair. We moved him to Seantryn Modan so
he'd better have a chance of learning policies and procedures before going
back to more active duties in other places.
Now he's written a missive that he is leaving the Spire. In one note he has
begun to unravel everything I was working towards. He has proven that you
don't have to be evil to be Finley, that others can leave the Spire on a whim
just as easily regardless of oaths of lifelong dedication. I believe he
wishes to join the Fortress because it represents an 'easier' path towards
turning his soul completely to the Light. I do not think he truly appreciates
the amount of 'good' that can be done as a Magistrate, he only knows that
the Fortress does more 'good' directly. In my opinion he is turning his back
on everything he has worked towards and everyone who has helped him get to
this point. Although I'll admit I'm hurt and bitter as I write this because
this is one of my first direct betrayals. Though I am to blame for not
instilling in him enough sense of purpose and faith that he is on the right
path.
I've asked that he withdraw his missive stating he wishes to leave until he
speaks to me, maybe it isn't too late.
Faenral's Decision to Stay in the Spire: Soul Searching Endeavor
Added Sat Oct 26 11:07:47 2013 at level 51:
I just wanted to catch up with some things. It turns out my missive to
Faenral and the talk that followed set him back on the path of the Spire. He
reflected upon what I wrote about the Spire and wrote a very good missive
about his life, he didn't quite capture what serving the Spire means so I
helped him by writing this to express what it means to me:
I hope this means you've read my missive and have reconsidered abandoning
your post. I read your missive at length and I wanted to impress in you that
there is SO much more to it than 'I became a Tribunal to protect the citizens
of the larger cities in Thera from dangerous individuals that would bring war
to their homes.'
Not only are you protecting the innocent, you are keeping murder from
happening, you are preventing theft of property, you are keeping both
mischief and evil from manifesting in any way. You are purifying the most
wretched parts of Thera. The cities are disgusting, filthy, and wretched at
their hearts. There is poverty, disease, and foulness when you scratch
beneath the surface. YOUR work here is PURIFICATION of all of that. You are
bettering others, you are bringing them up out of the gutters, you are giving
them a REASON to live their lives and better themselves. Think of the cities
as a physical manifestation of your own spirit. With enough time, effort, and
work, you will take something foul and ugly and cleanse it to the point of
beauty and purity. That is our goal. That is why I need you. You are another
city.
Journal 8: Citizen Watch Coalition/Other Thoughts
Added Sat Oct 26 11:24:15 2013 at level 51:
I had an idea to begin something I'm calling the Citizen Watch Coalition.
This will, at the end of the day, be a glorified form of paid snitching. The
end result will be criminals being very careful committing crimes when there
are no Magistrates in the city because they aren't sure if the other
witnesses will turn them in to get gold or not.
I will be tracking criminals as well as those reporting them. I doubt I will
ever place a flag based solely upon witness testimony but at least I will
know who to be looking for when I go back on duty. This paid group will
remain completely confidential from the rest of the Spire and the rest of the
world. I will be tracking and reporting trends in crime and potential
criminals only. This is very unofficial but should help the Spire identify
threats and make those threats think twice about crime with others present.
No evil or chaotic people will be paid for their reports if they make them,
they are ineligible.
We will see how it goes!
...
On an unrelated note I'd just like to express how thrilled I am that the
Spire has 15 members now. Of which only 3 are wicked. The Spire has a new
life to it that was rarely seen when I joined and I hope I was a part of
that. Energy is universally contagious and I've been trying my best to
breathe life into this place once again, I'm so happy things seem to be
coming together.
War with the Village is a waste of time and resources and I'm going to make
life for the Village as uncomfortable as possible until Crraya is dead and
gone or the Village surrenders. I've already had to retrieve three times and
when I take the head I'm forced to be off duty for several days, but we WILL
NOT BE BULLIED by the Village.
