Description
Before you is a young High-Elven male. He stands just
over six feet in height and his slender form. His face
is long with distinguished yet delicate features. His
skin is smooth and entirely unblemished. Its shade is
a bit darker than the average High-born, hinting at a
life spent under the Theran sun. His hair is blonde,
almost white in appearance. It is long and pulled back
away from his face and tied tightly with a single piece
of red cloth. His eyes are a vibrant shade of blue that
stand out starkly from his tanned skin. He is clad in
ceremonial robes which are a deep red in color. Upon his
back is the embroidered image of a Phoenix rising from
a pile of ash.

Background

Our tale centers around an Elven mage named Illaperios.
Illaperios was born to a noble family within the Kingdom
of Darsylon. This family, despite their nobility, was not
as wealthy as some of the other Houses within the Elven
homeland. In search of a better social standing they chose
late in the last Age to settle in the Selumari Isles, a
rugged Island which has a significant Elven population.
From here Illaperios' family prospered as they managed a
large port that sent trade ships back to the mainlands.
They sought to import and export the finest of the twin
Elven civilizations.
Life in the Isles was different from that in Darsylon. The
Elves were far more old fashioned in their religious and
political activities. The Isles themselves were mostly free
of the taint of evil as the Elves were zealous in the defense
of their islands and in hunting any evil who attempted to take
root in their homeland.
Illaperios was educated by these Selumarian scholars who
taught him the ancient ways of Shokai. To the surprise of his
parents Illaperios had little interest in the family business
but rather spent his days obsessing over the nuances of magic,
the worship of the Skyborn and the beliefs of his Maran.
Illaperios became, in many ways, a sun worshiper. He would stay
out in the blazing summer heat to practice elemental invocation
and to pray to the Gods of Light for their many gifts. As he
fell deeper into his religious zeal he came to realize that there
was little more for the Isles to offer him. Instead he wanted
to bring their wisdom to his brethren in Darsylon and to the
Light worshiping Therans as a whole.
And so he left the Isles and the comforts of his noble home. He
respectfully abandoned his family name opting instead to be known
as Illaperios Ar'dan Selumarianathas or more simply: Illaperios,
the son of the Selumari Isles.
Overview

Illaperios is a chaotic good soul. This means that he desires to see
the Light triumph in a natural manner. He views many of the comforts
of modern civilization to be hindering the crusade against evil. For
example he does not understand how a goodly Tribunal Magistrate can
defend a necromancer's guild. Nor does he see how commerce which sells
to all alignments can be defended as that sword sold to a fire giant
will surely end up in the chest of a child of the Light. It is partly
due to this pro-Light, borderline isolationism that Illaperios considers
the Selumari Isles to be superior to Darsylon and the mainlands as a whole.
He was born under the stars of Victory and worships Lord Shokai. This
is integral to understanding Illaperios as a man because it has made
him essentially single-minded his approach to life. His only concern
is the destruction of evil and the final victory over the shadow as a
whole.
Illaperios takes his heritage seriously. He believes it is the Elves'
destiny to lead the war to finally destroy evil once and for all. While
he will be a faithful comrade to all races of the Light he will only truly
value the opinions of his fellow Elves.
He is a noble and well educated. He will speak as an envoy for his Isles
and conduct himself as a zealous servant of Shokai. He will make certain
not to lose his temper and to never waste a word on the unworthy.
The notion of neutrality is entirely foreign to him. He will judge each
"balanced soul" on an individual basis but he will not tolerate these
creatures hiding behind their "neutrality" as a shield. If they attempt
to play both sides he will regard them as footsoldiers for the Shadow.
