Description

You gaze upon a storm giant with calypso colored skin that shimmers like a pearl. His husky thirteen foot frame fills your field of vision until it feels as through all you can see is him. His calling leaves little time for concern of his appearance. His garb is a random assortment of scavenged items only made significant by the lack of alloy. His exposed limbs are decorated with a sampling of blood and viscera from hard fought prior battles. He has sloe black eyes that hint to a lurking anger within. His bulbous nose is accented with a thin silver hoop. You notice fully fleshy lips on an otherwise expressionless face. He has cropped hair and appears to have lost the lobe on his right ear.

Role

Ancestral Curse and Leaving Home

The reason for Ischer Landars ancestral curse remains lost and concealed 
with the passage of time.
The curse has taken on a life of its own over the centuries.  The curse 
has ended marriages and even
ended Ischown Landars life.  Ischown Landar was a fisherman who remained 
poor for most of his life.  Ischown dedicated the later parts of his life 
to discovering and removing the ancient curse.  Ischown went crazy over 
the curse and never discovering it secrets nor how to remove it.  One day 
Ischown ended his own life forever in frustration.  

The two things that Ischown did get right were named Gwelon and Ischer.  
Ischer was always a wild child prone to mischief.  Ischer grew up fearing 
and dreading this ancient curse, but with time and the passing of his 
father he grew to see the clarity in the curse.  Every time the curse 
flares up, Ischer is reminded of what he has lost and the fond sweet 
memories of his father.  Ischer remembers that before he went crazy, his 
father was a good honest man.  A father that cared for his son and taught 
him fishing and taught him a lot about life.  So while Ischer suffers 
pain and fear over the loss of his father, that loss helps inspire him to 
do better and to make something of his life.   In addition to fishing, 
Ischer showed a natural at ease in the wilds and particularly on water.  
Ischown encouraged Ischer to test himself and to improve himself 
particularly in water and during the storms.  Ischown would test his son 
every chance he got.  Each test was harder and harder.  Ischown even 
acquired a vicious small shark for Ischer to fight.  Ischer was like a 
savage in his test against the shark, killing it with nothing but some 
sticks floating nearby. 

Gwelon was Ischowns wife and she continued to love Ischown until the 
very end.  Her only fear was civilizations continued imposition on Loch 
Terradian.  She continued to see more and more merchants come to the Loch 
and tread on this small Storm Giant village. Gwelon instilled her dislike 
for civilization on her only son Ischer.  As Ischer got older, Gwelon 
knew that Ischers mischievous ways would get him into trouble if he 
stayed here.  Ischer had grown angrier and angrier with the encroachment 
of the trails near the Loch and the rise in merchants imposed their ways 
and wills with their coins.  Gwelon convinced Ischer to leave the Loch 
for the first time in his life.  She said he was always welcome to return 
but he was just being held back by this place.  She wanted him to go 
further away than Galadon, so she told him to go to Hamsah Mutazz and see 
civilization for himself.  She thought Ischer could not truly form an 
honest opinion about civilization until he live in it.  So at the age of 
100, Ischer left home a boy but soon had to become a man.

Hamsah and Rangers

Ischers travels took him up the trail to the weald and then to Galadon.  
He spent a year in Galadon learning all he could.  In particular he 
noticed the Tribunal Spire.  This Spire was in the center of Galadon and 
from what Ischer observed was filled with nothing but corruption.  The 
magistrates of the Spire would kill anyone for the smallest infraction.  
Usually this was just a ploy to acquire their wealth and infringe further 
on the wilds.  The Spire was just one thing he disliked about Galadon, 
there were many more.  Even so, Ischer spent one year there.  After the 
year, Ischer traveled along the eastern road towards Hamsah.  

Ischer arrived in Hamsah with little fanfare.  He found the hustle and 
bustle of city life a difficult adjustment.  He could not understand why 
people were so reliant on coins.  The things people would do for these 
coins made Ischer sicker and sicker every day.  The Sultan and his noble 
were the worst of them all.  They lived like kings while citizens 
suffered.  Why could these citizens not see they were sheep being herded 
by the Sultan and his nobles? After 14 years living and working various 
jobs on the docks of Hamsah, Ischer had enough and vowed to see more of 
the world.  He went back down eastern road seeking to see more of the 
earth and more of the lakes, rivers, mountains, and oceans. 

Along his way, Ischer encountered the empire and centurions on the 
eastern road.  These centurions demanded a fee in order to pass.  Ischer 
was adept by now in the wilds, very self-sufficient, and used no coins to 
survive.  He tried to barter with the centurions to no avail.  Being 
stubborn and foolish, Ischer tried to kill these much more powerful 
centurions.  Ischer barely escape with his life and fled noticing a small 
hidden woodland trail off of the eastern road.  Ischer survived near 
death for nearly two weeks until a ranger with piercing gray eyes and a 
scar on his cheek rescued him and took Ischer back to his guild.  After 
healing up, Ischer stayed with this ranger for another year, learning all 
he could.  The old ranger was impressed by Ischer and agree to train him, 
but told him it would be a lifelong journey.  After long discussions 
about the different ways of rangers, the old man said he would have to be 
a mariner as he was too big and to naturally adept for anything else.  
Lastly, he was trained as a savage ranger, because of his fierce ways of 
fighting and his natural self-reliance in the wilds.  

While Hamsah was still his home for now, Ischer has plans to find some 
like-minded outlanders like him.

Future Goals

Ischer has the following future goals:

Join Outlanders and become Sunwarden.

Seek out Rahsael and learn more about the three aspects of the God of 
Loss, especially the aspect that counsel those wounded by loss.

Fight the enemies of the tree and those that seek the spread of civilization.

Fight against all that are evil or seek to oppress their will on others.

Explore the lands.
