Description
The black skinned humanoid is approximately 10 feet tall. While his
torso is heavily build, the main part of his height comes from his
long legs. Coarse orange hair covers his muscular arms. The same
fiery color seems to set his skull ablaze. Beneath bushy eyebrows
small emerald eyes gleam with cunning.
The male is clad in various mismatched armors and an assortment
of heavy weapons are within easy reach of his bulky hands.
Role
Background
Added Sat Oct 19 07:39:10 2013 at level 37:
Born and raised on the volcano, Ishtugar had a fairly normal fire
giant upbringing. He learned to value strength and ability to
withstand pain, contempt for weakness and that might makes right.
He was the odd one out in the family, though. He was quite good with
words and he grew slower than his brethen, so he was often bullied by
others. Ishtugar was curious by nature and eager to see what was
beyond the volcano. So before his name day he ran away to seek his
fortune beyond.
He moved to Arkham where he roamed the country-side for a few years
raiding and pillaging where he could. He felt he lacked direction,
though, so when approached by a crafty duergar, the shadow lord
Gedunthos, he was convinced to join the imperial army.
Some traits
Added Sat Oct 19 07:40:10 2013 at level 37:
Ishtugar is quick and has easily grasped the common tongue. He is
still a giant though, so his vocabulary does not extend to scholarly
or abstract issues. He never really grasped magic either, though he
can see how useful such can be.
He prefers clear rules and find subtle social interaction difficult.
The strict hierarchy of the Empire appeals to him, though he sometimes
have difficulties with all the titles.
He is proud of his status as an imperial blade and is eager to prove
his worth in combat. He doesn't mind being given orders and doesn't
strive to be war master, though the status of being such is appealing.
He has a weakness for gold, which might cloud his judgement when
assessing dangerous situations. Furthermore, he has begun setting some
gold aside for himself.
Last name
Added Thu Nov 14 15:34:15 2013 at level 50:
His father's name was Rashad Nah, but Ishtugar has long since
cut his ties to his roots on the volcano.
Instead he has taken the name Naldi, in honor of a former war master
of the Empire, Naldigar, who for many years was an inspiration to Ishtugar.
Politics
Added Mon Nov 25 14:09:19 2013 at level 51:
While quite talkative for a fire giant, Ishtugar lacks the refinery to
succeed among the upper echelons of the Empire. He acknowledges this
without bitterness being quite content with his status as an elite
blade.
Indeed, when attending a reasonably private gathering concerning
imperial aspirations hosted by the supreme Lord Destuvius, he jumped
at the first opportunity to leave it, as he felt quite out of his
depth (being completely exhausted after a long period of activity
didn't help either).
However, recently events have caused him to reevalute his position.
The Emperor, the powerful mummy Gharzal, frightens Ishtugar to the
core. In fact, when attacking under the command of Gharzal, Ishtugar
is more afraid of the emperor than his enemies, causing him to make
all kinds of panicked decisions and generally perform rather
underwhelming.
The dread lord Ankhran has a similar influence. Ishtugar finds it
extremely shameful to be so frightened but he finds the death magic of
the black sect revolting. Hence, he has begun to do something new: try
to plan ahead and maybe find a way to lessen the influence of the
black sect and have the war master Ergoth replace the mummy as the
imperial ruler.
Having a great deal of respect for the magic hating barbarians due to
their extreme fighting prowess he has begun to think of an alliance
between the blades of the Empire and the battle ragers. An alliance
could work with a blade as Emperor and would help to keep the black
sect weak.
Such plans are best kept secret until mature, but then Ishtugar was
never known for his great discretion.
