Role
The Meaninglessness of Existence
Added Sun Jan 19 02:35:37 2020 at level 42:
Itzenxilaatl was born in Seantryn Modan in a normal family. His father
was a cityguard, and his mother had a small shop of elixirs, potions, and
other magical items. Though most of it was, of course, useless colored
flasks with bold letters on them devoid of any magical properties.
They weren't rich, of course. The money that they have been earning was
enough for a food and, sometimes, visiting carnivals or city markets but
definitely not enough for a proper education for their only child.
As usual in families like his, Itzenxilaatl was assisting his mother in
the shop, and he sincerely hated it. He hated the people who came daily
to buy a potion of lust to seduce an immature girl; or a toxin, to get
rid of a competitor; or just an elixir of longevity that, of course,
wouldn't do anything except give the purchaser diarrhea. He hated all the
rich people who spent money on petty things while he was forced to work
for chicken feed.
Because of his dislike for the customers, he was trying to keep his
distance from them. He barely spoke, and when he did, it was usually one
or two words like yes, no, or I don't know. Combined with
semi-dyslexia, it was torture for him to talk with anyone, including his
own parents. They didn't care about that though, as long as he was doing
his job in the shop.
The longer he spent in his life, the more he became an introvert who
avoided people at all costs. Usually, he would sit in a corner of the
shop reading cheap books that he was able to buy for pennies stolen from
his parents. Because of course they didn't pay him any salary. He was
fed, he had more or less clean clothes, and he had a roof above his head,
and that was more than enough for him.
A Fatal Encounter
Added Sun Jan 19 02:36:17 2020 at level 42:
One evening, when traders in the city market were packing their things
up, he was walking down the rows, looking for oil and coloring
ingredients so his mother could prepare new fake potions. He was walking
along, pondering how weird it was that his father, a guard, knew of this
guilt, and yet he was fine with it. Money is above the law? Maybe it was
good when you have them, but if you don't - only laws could protect you.
But if laws were not working who would protect him if something
happened?
And something did happen. Suddenly, he heard shouts and sounds of a
clinging weapons. He heard horrible roars and moans, and someone with a
hissing voice was chanting weird words that he'd never heard before. Yes!
It was a fight, right in the center of the city, and not just a fight -
it was a fight between city guards and a terrible being dressed in black!
From under a table, Itzenxilaatl watched the fight. The man in black, a
magician, obviously was a master of the Dark Art, mostly forbidden in the
kingdom. Against him, six guards and their captain were standing,
fighting against horrible, skeletal creatures who were protecting their
master. What an unfair fight!, pondered Itzenxilaatl. Six against one,
and three things! Meanwhile, city guards were getting rid of the
skeletal beings. One of them managed to sneak behind the dark mage and
prepared to strike him from behind, and Itzenxilaatl couldn't stop his
shout. 'Behind!', he yelled reflexively, and the next moment, dark flames
engulfed the guard and he fell on the bricks - dead. The dark mage
glanced at Itzenxilaatl and blinked?!
'Oh damn!' thought Itzenxilaatl, crawling away from the mess. 'I'm a
criminal now? Am I?!'. He was sure that the other guards noticed what had
happened, and after dealing with the mage, they would come after him. He
made it safely to the next street and ran home where he huddled in a
corner shivering, awaiting his upcoming execution.
A Red Star
Added Sun Jan 19 02:36:41 2020 at level 42:
It wasn't long when he heard knocks on the door. 'Don't open it!' he
tried to say, but words couldn't leave his spasmed mouth. His mother
opened the door, and the city guards were there. I'm dead! panicked
Itzenxilaatl. He would run, but all his body turned into jelly, he
couldn't even rise to his feet.
To his surprise, the guards didn't break in. Instead, they gave something
to his mother, said a few words, and left. She closed the door and
lowered on the floor right there, silently. Half an hour later, she stood
up and moved to the center of the room and sat on the chair. In her
hands, Itzenxilaatl saw the helmet of his father with a big red star on
it, a star that Itzenxilaatl had painted on it long ago, and some bundle,
packed in a brown fabric.
'Your father, Itzenxilaatl, is dead, she said quietly. 'He was fighting
a rogue necromancer and almost got him. He was a brave man he shouldn't
die that way. That evil, twisted way!and she cried. 'That criminal he
he drained his life, turned him into dust! If not the boy who shouted, if
not for that bastard, your father would be alive! And she kept crying.
And Itzenxilaatl was silently staring at the red star that he painted
long ago.
'All that is left of your father it is his helm, said Itzenxilaatl's
mother, placing the red-starred helm on Itzenxilaatl's bed. 'And this
this is what he died for and the bundle found its place by the helm.
'It's a book that Jihm found on the ground when the murderer disappeared
in a dark cloud. Maybe maybe it is a clue. And you'll find him and
avenge for your father, someday she said before leaving his room.
The Bundle
Added Sun Jan 19 02:37:51 2020 at level 42:
Itzenxilaatl opened the bundle to find inside a book - of course, of the
deepest black color ever, with a bloody-red symbol on it. The symbols
looked ancient, and the language was unknown to Itzenxilaatl. He trailed
them with his finger and felt a weird tickling in his palm, then his
whole arm the tickling crawled into his body, shoulder, and entered his
very heart. He thought that he would die, but the tickling stopped and
vanished as suddenly as it had appeared. Itzenxilaatl was extremely
intrigued. So much that he forgot who the book belonged to.
Now, during the days, Itzenxilaatl was working in the shop. During the
nights paying all his daily his earnings to a greedy, old librarian. The
dirty fat bastard wasn't a good teacher, but he had keys to the
bookshelves, and he knew how to read and write. He even knew some ancient
dialects at a basic level, but with the right books, Itzenxilaatl could
use those bits of knowledge and translate them. In symbols, words,
sentences and texts, Itzenxilaatl had found his passion and dedication.
And to understand his enemy, he had to read the black book with bloody
red writing inside. Maniacally, restlessly, he was studying ancient
books, searching for a clue, but so far, everything was futile.
Years passed. The old librarian died from intoxication caused by some
fatally poor alcohol. Itzenxilaatl's mother, after the death of her
husband and protector, couldn't keep maintaining the shop full of
counterfeits and mismade potions. Fortunately for Itzenxilaatl, he was
hired to replace his teacher, and now he spent day and night in the
library. But the book was still a mystery. It became his obsession, his
mania, to decipher it and learn what was inside and who that man was who
wrote the book. Now, Itzenxilaatl had no doubts: the murderer of his
father was an author of this work himself.
The more Itzenxilaatl studied ancient languages, the deeper and deeper he
dwelt in the dark art of Necromancy. Zealously, he searched for clues
that would help him to read the book and, ultimately, discover the
origins of it's author. But everything in that regard was futile.
Instead, he uncovered something else: his own affinity to the magical
energies. He was intrigued by Necromancy, and by the twisted beauty of
it, of how effectively it redirected streams of life into a completely
different way that the very nature of the universe couldn't expect.
The Plan
Added Sun Jan 19 02:39:41 2020 at level 42:
Soon, he was able to reproduce the simplest spells. Inspired by his own
talents and his own power, he was descending lower and lower into the
dark arts. Soon, in the old library, there were no books left to satisfy
him: he had read them all and learned as much as possible. And then, he
developed a plan.
His plan was simple: to find and destroy the damned dark mage, he would
become more powerful than his enemy. And then, he would, of course, be
able to find a key to that damned book, and then he'd find his enemy. And
then, he'd avenge his father, for his life, and for what Itzenxilaatl had
become. Darkness against darkness, death for death, and he'd be his
nemesis, no matter what else Itzenxilaatl would have to sacrifice. He
stepped on this path, and he knew - it was too late to turn back.
Dark arts and forbidden rituals became his only passion. He kept sinking
deeper and deeper into things that would turn a usual mortal insane - so
horrible and perverted they were. Now, he could turn the blood of a
living being into a poisonous liquid at will. He could turn the eyes of
his prey blind, or a spell he was most proud of, he could put nearly
anyone into a magical slumber and do whatever evil things he liked with
the helpless body. He found satisfaction in his powers and talents, and
the death of his father started becoming less and less important.
Realizing that he was losing his humanity, Itzenxilaatl marked a red star
on the books that he was reading. Then on the clothes he was wearing, on
his magical instruments. Stars reminded him of who he was, and why he was
studying the dark arts. As it was insufficient, he started to scar his
own body, carving red stars on his hands, palms, and arms. Each time he
caught himself oblivious of who he was, he passionately added a red star.
Soon, his whole his body was covered with red star scars of different
sizes and forms.
Jars and Bottles

Years of loneliness and isolation, spent with mind-shattering,
soul-draining books and with darkness, his only friend couldn't pass
unnoticed. Slowly, Itzenxilaatl was losing his connection with the world
of living. Yet, he still was a mortal, and had weaknesses that mortals
usually do. One of them was a need for socialization, or, rather, he
needed someone to admire his successes and discoveries. He had learned
how to raise the undead, but they weren't intelligent enough to praise
Itzenxilaatl's achievements. Mercenaries he bought didn't speak truth,
and other mages what could they understand about the true art!
Partially out of boredom, partially out of his twisted mind, Itzenxilaatl
started to experiment with embalming - but in an unusual way: instead of
using it on the corpses and their body parts, he captured the living
beings and embalmed them while they were still alive. What was he trying
to achieve? He didn't know himself. But over time, he had collected a
large number of live-embalmed body parts. His most successful achievement
was an embalmed live fetus of an elf who was now dwelling in an old glass
can that Itzenxilaatl keept on his belt. Empowered by dark energies, his
friend was not alive, but also not dead. But now, at least, Itzenxilaatl
didn't feel alone, and that unnamed thing was kind of a friend.
Sometimes, Itzenxilaatl being distracted, would talk to that thing,
calling him Bob. Why Bob? He couldn't say if someone asked. Sometimes,
Itzenxilaatl thought that he heard his words, but they were always
somewhere in the corner of his mind, like a quiet and distant echo of a
whisper.
Perfection, Order, and Other Thoughts
Added Sun Jan 19 02:41:02 2020 at level 42:
Itzenxilaatl was realizing his situation. Slowly, he was trading his
sanity to the knowledge that was draining his soul and filling it with
darkness and power. Less and less of him was a human being. Moral,
conscience, good or bad - all those principles have lost their meaning to
him. Yet to keep what remained, he needed an anchor, and he found it in
his now shattered and blurred memories of his father. Itzenxilaatl still
remembered what his father taught him of the laws and it's principles,
and those principles have weirdly coincided with his art - where he kept
everything in an absolute order. Those memories became Itzenxilaatl's
only lighthouse within the darkness where he lived.
But he also had a different landmark: His arch-enemy. A controversial
element of chaos in the structured and organization of Itzenxilaatl's
existence. He was a teacher who accidentally and unintentionally became
his dark guide, and an enemy to be conquered to avenge his father. This
circumstance was driving Itzenxilaatl - who strived to keep everything
sorted, clean, and structured - mad, because if he couldn't keep
everything in order, he would definitely lose his mind and himself. Order
- this is what kept Itzenxilaatl more or less sane. And passion was doing
exactly the opposite.
During his research of how to balance those antinomy, Itzenxilaatl
discovered that citizens of the Empire were being empowered by an
Imperial Codex - an unbelievably strong magical artifact that was bound
to the very Order itself, and of the Tribunals, who had a similar item of
power in their Spire. Yet, though Tribunals were closer to what his
father dedicated his life for, Itzenxilaatl blamed them, and the weakness
of the guards who were there that night, in his death. So, the only
logical choice was joining the Empire And Itzenxilaatl decided to take
an oath, become a citizen, and bind his soul to a Codex to try to save
what was left of his mind and of himself.
Bliss
Added Sun Jan 19 02:44:32 2020 at level 42:
Bliss is a creation of Itzenxilaatl, a semi-alive fetus, brought to life
by negative energy. Typically, necromancers use these beings as guides to
the world of the dead, the negative and shadow planes, or as mediums when
they contact the deceased or seek answers from the spirits. Itzenxilaatl
has created Bliss for the same purpose. Creating a living fetus is
perhaps the darkest thing that a sentient being could do, and though
Itzenxilaatl was a true necromancer, he had not lost all his humanity. At
least - not yet.
Fortunately, one day, during his travels, he visited a Darsylon city when
he heard a call to everyone. A princess was sick, and anyone who could
help would be rewarded generously by the King himself. Curious,
Itzenxilaatl proceeded to the castle with other healers and shamans,
pretending to be one of them. Soon, the best candidates were chosen, and
Itzenxilaatl, due to his knowledge of the human anatomy (which wasn't a
big surprise) was one of them. They were escorted to the princess'
apartment where the beauty lay on a massive bed inlaid with gems and
golden leaves. From the first glance, Itzenxilaatl could tell she was
dying. Death's grey tentacles, invisible to others, were embracing her
and her unborn child. The child still had a chance to survive - if
Itzenxilaatl performed an operation. The princess would inevitably die in
the process, but she would likely die anyway, and nothing in the world
could save her. This is what Itzenxilaatl told everyone. His words
angered the King so much that Itzenxilaatl was taken away by the guards
and imprisoned.
After several days, the guards brought Itzenxilaatl back to the princess'
room. She had died. But within her, a spark of life still was pulsating.
A tiny heart, beating slow, like a dying flame of a candle in the wind.
He was asked to save it by any means necessary. Itzenxilaatl named the
price. He would save the child, but take it with him. Not because he was
an evil witch, but because it was the only way to save the poor baby. If
they had listened to him earlier, it wouldn't be necessary. The deal was
sealed. When they realised that the fetus would live in a glass can
forever, it was too late. The surgery was done, and Itzenxilaatl, knowing
that he would be executed for such a dark deed, called to the darkness
and vanished into the night, carrying the precious child away. He took
care of the poor thing, but sometimes he asked himself if death would be
more merciful than such an existence?
After that time, he avoided Darsylon at all cost. Sometimes, elven squads
lurked in Udgaard, searching for him, but Itzenxilaatl managed to evade
them and keep Bliss - as he called the child - safe. He felt that Bliss
realized it, and perhaps felt a strange sympathy to its parent? Or
master?
Reckless Imperial Dreadlord, part I
Added Sun Jan 19 02:45:07 2020 at level 42:
There was one dark night, when two ground-shaking events happened to
Itzenxilaatl. First, all of a sudden, he was summoned to the Palace by
the Imperial Inquisitor. From the first glance, Itzenxilaatl figured that
Inquisitor was possessed by something - perhaps devil or God, it wasn't
clear until the Inquisitor started to talk. He admitted admiration for
Itzenxilaatl's studies and deathly effectiveness on the battlefield and
gave Itzenxilaatl a very important task - to rebuild the Black Sect which
was, till that time, mostly empty. Itzenxilaatl agreed and set it as one
of his primary goals. He already had a plan, and now, he had the power to
bring it to life.
After that, Itzenxilaatl went to the Inn of the Eternal Star. Everything
relating to stars - especially if they were red - always attracted him.
Though he, being a sociopath, didn't drink alcohol, he felt that it would
be good at least to pretend that he was celebrating the sudden promotion.
And there, he met the dark, deceptive god, Morius, deity of Scions, enemy
of Empires. Mirous offered Itzenxilaatl a game to play - throw a coin. If
Itzenxilaatl won, he would achieve a new power, if he lost - a flaw.
Itzenxilaatl was perfectly aware of the deceptive nature of the god, but
he decided to take a risk and learn his enemy, even if the risk was high.
Sun was a win, moon - quite the opposite. And he threw the coin. In the
next moment, he was staring at the moon, and Morious laughed evilly.
'You lose!' The dark god was extremely pleased, 'Now stand still
there!' and he made a slashing motion with his hand, as if cutting
something unseen. But Itzenxilaatl noticed that something shadowy emerged
from his body and started to disappear in shadows but then, a sucking
sound came from the can where Bliss was living, and water started
bubbling with intense pressure like he had never seen before. And that
shadowy, ethereal, almost unseen even to his trained eye substance went
to the can and entered Bliss. The child shivered, and made a loud
piercing scream, startling, Olin, the Bartender - the tankard of ale he
held crashed to the floor.
Reckless Imperial Dreadlord, part II
Added Sun Jan 19 02:46:16 2020 at level 42:
Morius looked at Itzenxilaatl and said boldly, I took away part of your
soul. Now, you'll be known as reckless, for I took the part that was
responsible for your self-preservation--fear! and he disappeared in the
shadows, continuing laughing heavily. Itzenxilaatl sat down to analyze
his mental state and found something that amused him greatly.
It appeared that Morius, a deity of his enemies, did Itzenxilaatl a huge
favor. All that time, Itzenxilaatl was thinking of the future, and all
this time, hed been afraid of his fate. Because it was widely known that
the career of a successful necromancer ends with death, or an undead
existence when he became undead himself. It was scary, horrible, so much
so that Itzenxilaatl had delayed his progress within the guild as much as
possible. But now now, the fear of that was gone, and with that fear, he
began to see things, and the future, clearer than ever before. Mirous not
only took his fear, but a good bit of the chaos and madness that had been
swirling within Itzenxilaatl's soul and mind all that time. Making him
reckless, Mirous had actually healed him and opened a gate, the gate to
the future, to power, to eternity itself.
Also, a quite important and interesting side-effect was the unexpected
progress of Bliss. Bliss, a mere semi-alive toy, child, pet, now became a
vessel of Itzenxilaatl's fear and part of his very soul. With that, he
became much more sentient, he began to feel - though, poor thing, he (or
she, or it) mostly felt fear, panic, and uncertainty. But still, those
were feelings, and a kind of evolution. Sometimes, whispering in
Itzenxilaatl's head, Bliss would warn him about enemies who surrounded
him or about dangers that Itzenxilaatl now was unable to realise. The
magical bond between the two of them became stronger than ever before,
and from this symbiosis, something greater will probably be born later.
Emperorship
Added Sun Jan 19 02:46:43 2020 at level 42:
To the great surprise of Itzenxilaatl, when the time came for the voting
for the Emperor, he was chosen. It was strange because he didn't even
really want the throne at that time, and didn't bother to formulate a
plot or convince or bribe others. All he did were a few talks to other
councillors, and a few notes. Yet, he won the vote and now he was an
Emperor. It opened many new doors for him. Now, he may use the whole
power of the empire to finally find his arch enemy.
At the same time, for an unknown reason, Bliss started to grow. Slowly,
his container was becoming too small for him, and his conscience also
started to improve. Probably because of the new powers of his master and
because of the fact that Bliss now possessed part of Itzenxilaatl's soul
that Morius had cut out. Bliss needed a new place to live, and
Itzenxilaatl decided to build a table in the throne room where a
container for Bliss and other his treasures would reside. Furthermore,
with his new powers, Bliss now was able to see through the realm of life
and death, watching shadows with his piercing, undying gaze. He is the
key for Becoming, thought Itzenxilaatl. At least, one of them.
Traveling through the darkness and shadows, Itzenxilaatl anticipated a
moment when he would return to the Imperial lands and sit on his throne.
His absence took a long while already, and work took a bit longer. He
worried about a possible coup and developed a plan. Itzenxilaatl sent an
order to his citizens - to construct a table decorated with rare gems. It
was not just a task, it was a test for their loyalty. Those few who
completed the task, confirmed their loyalty. Those who ignored the order
were not to be trusted. Two of the three councillors - Zaol and Inaj -
showed a lack of loyalty and one of them, who he'll meet first, has to be
demoted while the second would get a warning. First Itzenxilaatl met
Inaj, and Inaj was demoted. No one would dare ignore his orders after
this demonstration of power. The next stage of rulership would be picking
those who were the most loyal, even if they were not the strongest
citizens - loyalty was far more important.
His Dark Passion
Added Thu Jan 23 08:11:06 2020 at level 47:
The more Itzenxilaatl submerged into the art of Necromancy, the more his
passion for new knowledge, for the new powers, bloomed. Mysterious,
frightening, and twisted, it was beautifully evil. While some were afraid
of the night and of the monsters that hide in the shadows, others make
darkness their friend and let it cover them from their enemies.
Itzenxilaatl took this philosophy to the next level, turning death itself
into his friend and an ally.
With his newfound powers of the Imperial Black Sect, he managed to
improve a Dark Feast ritual into something interesting. Now he was not
just feasting himself, but also feeding Bliss with the corpses of his
enemies. He was curious of the result: he was impressed by Bliss's
progress, and each time he fed Bliss with someone's body part, he felt
that Bliss was growing in power. Half elf, half human, half dead, now he
was absorbing flesh and power of the dead, becoming something weird and
entertaining.
Itzenxilaatl made Another interesting discovery. While he was summoning
his greater undead, instead of a ghoul, he summoned a wailing banshee
that arrived with piercing, woeful cries. Cold as death itself, she was a
fierce being, effectively destroying enemies of Itzenxilaatl. He felt
something weird about her origins and studied her each time she appeared.
Finally, he noticed a faint, ghostly thread between Bliss and the
banshee. Thread of empathy, pain, regret, and a great sorrow. Judging by
all this, and that she was an elf in her mortal life, he figured that she
was a restless ghost, Bliss's mother, bound to her semi-live child in her
afterlife. Itzenxilaatl tapped his fingers on the armrest of his throne,
and pondered: "What a wonderful family we make - alive, dead, and
something weird in the middle."
Red Star Evolution
Added Thu Jan 23 08:13:10 2020 at level 47:
While the Order and the Codex itself balanced Itzenxilaatl, his passion
for the Red Star mark kept driving him into a state of craziness. He
understood it as a drug addict understands his disease, but was unable to
fight it. It was good mania that he had to live with. But if one can't
defeat something, one may find a way to benefit from it, and develop a
way how to use it.
Now, he was Emperor, and he had thousands of people on whom he could
carve his mark, satisfying his mania and keeping it from harming himself.
Furthermore, he would proclaim that his mark of the Red Star was a rare
reward that only the best citizens would wear. But he, of course,
wouldn't tell anyone that was not just a carving on the skin, not just a
tattoo or a mark. His new stars were evil, magical sigils that slowly,
unnoticeably, drains life from the wearers while they sleep, and transfer
their life-force into Itzenxilaatls body, empowering him. Because isn't
that what vassals are needed for? He'd taken regular skin carving to the
next level, to the state of the art. Eventually, everyone would wear it,
and he'd bathe in the power like a dragon in volcanic flames.
Insufficient
Added Fri Jan 24 10:06:27 2020 at level 47:
After his unexpected emperorship, Itzenxilaatls plans for a slow,
thoughtful, and effective education were completely ruined. Emperorship
granted him new powers, authority - but also responsibility and risks. He
wouldnt sit on the throne for a long time if he couldnt earn the
respect of his vassals and his Councillors. He had to gain power, and he
did it, quickly being promoted through the ranks within the Necromncers
guild. Indeed, who would dare to refuse an Emperor? But now, Itzenxilaatl
found himself surrounded by experienced, strong enemies - and, it was
painful to admit for him, but some of them were stronger than he was. He
would not learn anything in his guild anymore for he had learned
everything they knew, and only the most powerful, deadly necromancers who
had crossed the line between life and death could teach him of the most
powerful spells. But there was just one very very little problem: he
would have to cross that line himself. He, himself, would have to become
undead, to become free from the limitations of mortals, from the weakness
of a mortal body - or he would surely be destroyed by the darkest power
that he would deal with that would flow through his body. Something deep
inside him whispered that he should go that route, but he was frightened
by such a future - no family, no love, nothing. Nothing but an
unbelievable power! And maybe then he would find that one, his
arch-enemy, THAT necromancer who changed his life - and probably death-
so dramatically.
Itzenxilaatl had to decide which route to take. Becoming a wight would
definitely enforce that dark weirdness and chaos within his soul, that
hed been fighting all his life; becoming a mummy was an interesting
perspective, but too obvious and often used even by inepts of his guild,
and it would not fit him well. There were also rumors about vampires, but
he had doubts about this option: it would be absolutely weird if the
Emperor were afraid of garlic, holy water, and couldnt enter any home
without an invitation even within his own cities. And liches, the most
powerful legendary beings, would they even talk to a mere mortal, even so
talented and passionate of the Art, as he, Emperor of Thera? Would they
talk to such a young mage? He hoped so He could become a true master of
the Dark Arts, dread and deadly enough that the whole of thera would
speak of him - with fear and respect.
Hello, Myself!
Added Sat Feb 8 06:03:59 2020 at level 47:
The more Itzenxilaatl was dwelling into the Art of Necromancy, the more
he was sumbering into the darkness. To preserve what was left of his
humanity, he began to collect his memories and thoughts into a diary. The
first chapter started with a simple statement:
"Hello, myself. I dont know if youll ever read it, but if you do, I
will be a different person, not what I am now. Maybe not even a human
anymore. I look into a Darkness, and Darkness looks into my soul. The
cost of power, I guess I figured that my passion for power is much
higher than my fear of what will happen to me, and to my very nature.
Power -its the meaning of life of every single being.
Power! So many oblivious fools who hide their lust for it behind
beautiful words! Knowledge, self-realization, success, even luck! But
everyone is striving for power, because Power is life. To read a book, or
write a diary, we need to have a knowledge of how to do it. By reading,
or writing, we are gaining lifetime experience that may be used later. By
learning how to cast spells or use a sword, we are also gaining knowledge
and experience - but why? What for? Whats the meaning of all this?
Because this knowledge grants us an ability to use it and release the
power that it grants us.
Because the more skilled and experienced warrior will defeat the less
experienced, whose power is less. My own knowledge and experience grants
me the power to defeat nearly any mortal and survive the most dangerous
encounters. It grants me the power to lead an Empire and to stay on the
throne, no matter the intrigues plotted behind my back- at least for now.
Ill save my thoughts concerning that in the next entry.
An interesting note - after gaining enough power, the behaviour of a
person is dramatically changed. An ego, boosted by power, demands us to
test it, and after some tests, demands to release it. This is why there
are wars, there are fights, and deaths, and victories. Power is a fuel-
power is life and death at the same time. Power is everything, and now I
completely realize and accept it because it is only a way to control it
and to not be controlled. I have awakened, and I see my own ego clearly.
My ego, it cannot be defeated, but it may be controlled and imprisoned in
a cage of the unyielding will, where it must remain forever. Only then,
well not be the slaves of the power, but its masters.
Good bye for now, myself. I dont know what you are now, or where you are
now, but I know that you, like current me, are in an everlasting
pursuit for Power, an everlasting pursuit for Perfection. Its my
passion, and its yours, no matter what we are."

Added Sat Feb 8 06:20:26 2020 at level 47:
Hello, myself. How have you been? I have so many things that have
happened recently that I must write them down. Lately, I feel that
Darkness swirls within my soul, covering my mind again. Sometimes, I find
myself in places that I have never been before, and I dont remember how
I got there. Im afraid that Ill dissolve into it, but my notes could
help me to keep consistency.
Today, I met Morius once again. After all, his gift was a curse, and it
led me to a crushing defeat. He arrived to laugh at me, but we ended up
with a deal that endangers the whole Empire, not just myself. But I had
to, or this curse would lead me to further losses- and inevitable death.
Per our agreement, I am not to demote High Priestess Sylvari, who is
praying to him, no matter what. Of course, a serious crime against the
Empire is an exception, but otherwise, she is not to be removed from the
Council. I didnt realize the danger until Krata, a pledge to the Chasm,
asked me for a Blood-oath, that I, of course, gave him. Now, Krata, per
lord Gaspares will, is to be promoted to the Dread Lord. So, now we have
two pawns of the lord Morius in the Council, and I feel like a pawn on
the chessboard. I would never give a former scion such power, but I
cannot argue with the Dark Lord - his power is incredibly higher than
mine. The plan of lord Morius is clearly seen, its an upcoming coup
against me, and one of them will take the throne - will try to, at least.
If that happens, I suspect the whole Empire will be crushed and
destroyed. My only hope is Ysforgul and Angaph, but if one of them is
also Morian, everything is lost. I may step down to prevent it, but I
cannot do it, my passion for power, my whole philosophy and my path is
against such weakness. Ill have to resist their attempts, and I have to
stay strong.
Speaking of lord Gaspare, we met not long ago. I shared my visions
concerning my passion and the power, but we have yet to continue our
talk. I am very curious about his vision on my finding, though I feel
eternal coldness when I have spoken with him. But what else would one
expect from the Lich-God?
I am also quite intrigued by Lady Ishuli. I have met her, we have
discussed some things about the law on my Thera. The Spire, though they
are subject to the Empire, are independent organizations, and our laws
are a bit different. I would like to tune it a bit and allow retaliation
in the cities, similar to Imperial laws. Also, Ive presented her a book,
a registry of the most powerful necromancers of Thera, for the library.
Maybe it will be published, though my work is not over yet - I am
positive there are more that I have managed to find.
That is all for now, my dear future me. I hope you - me - are fine, and
that we are still ruling on our lands.
Meeting the High Priest of Eil Shareia
Added Sat Feb 8 06:26:37 2020 at level 47:
Hello, myself. How are you? What are you now? Who, or what am I now? I
ask because I had a frightful meeting today.
I do not deny, Ive been looking for it. Ive been searching for a way to
become something better. Ive been seeking the power, and the way to
remove limitations of my body. Yes Yes, I found that the power that I
seek cannot fit inside the body of a mortal. Remember how we searched for
the pieces of knowledge? How many days did we spend in the Library of
Hamsah MuTazz, searching for the books and doing our research until we
found it? Oh, if you - me - would know where this knowledge would lead
us!
I have attuned myself to the negative energies, and after so many years,
I know exactly what I shall seek. Moreso, Ive trained Bliss to watch for
the fluctuations of the dark energies, both in this world and negative
planes. We were vigilant, and finally, we have noticed a wave, a spark,
something semi-alive, mighty, insane. We felt that it comes from the
distant, western place known as Eil Shareia. It couldnt be a
coincidence, it was exactly what we were looking for, waiting days and
nights - that being, who thinks of himself as of the High Priest,
awakened.
Of course I went to meet him, and brought Darlof, a priest of Morius,
with me. I have learned that the High Priest was a bit out of his mind,
but I had no idea to what extent, and couldnt imagine that he would be
totally crazy, mad, and twisted - all at once. I cannot trust this paper,
for I dont know who will read it, so I will not go into the details, but
I think youll remember what happened there if I just mention a few
things.
The first is Feldestil - and it was extremely amusing, despite Darlofs
sacrifice. I dont know what exactly what the High Priest had cut off
him, but after that surgery, Darlofs voice became two tones higher! Now,
each time I see Darlof, I cannot stop snickering, and cant not call him
Feldestil and ask to bring me some imaginary wine!
The second that you must recall is the Elixir of Life - yes, yes, not
death! It was extremely difficult, it was extremely painful for my body,
and for my ego to play that role. But it all worked after all, and the
Priest agreed to create an infamous Elixir. Also, remember - the Bronze
Empress and spies. And lastly, the Cure - what finally worked.
For now, that's all. I am waiting for his call, and my collected
intelligence confirms that well have to do a Grand Search, and if
successful, you will be reading this diary, but you will be something
else - far more than I am now. Wish me luck, myself from the future, if
you are able to do that at all.
The Becoming
Added Sun Mar 15 16:27:18 2020 at level 51:
Itzenxilaatl felt that he, though an Emperor, had lost something
important. Something that he was counting on - a future that hed
expected for himself. No doubt the High Priest of Eil Shareia had
abandoned him, and it depressed the Emperor. He tried to reach his lord,
Gaspare, for a long time and had no answer. Many other things also
disappointed Itzenxiaathl: he fought and defeated a goddess of the Tree,
Aylosi, only for her to come back to him and defeat him in his own
palace. All this led him to a decision to step down and let Ysforgul
rule, since he was strong and enthusiastic. Yet, when he sent a missive
about it to the Empire, Ysforghul took his own life. Sylvari, the High
Priestess, disappeared after a crushing defeat due to her own stupidity
in the village of the battleragers. Only the shadow lord remained, but he
was not powerful enough to lead the Empire. Itzenxilaatl had no choice
but to remain on his throne to keep the Empire from crumbling into dust.
Finally, Itzenxilaatl met his lord, Gaspare. They had a long talk, and
for the first time, Itzenxilaatl managed to understand Gaspare and that
his true intentions were always for the goodness of the Empire. Gaspare
appeared to be his ally, not his nemesis - at least, for now. During the
talk, lord Gaspare suggested to seek the Conservator, for the priest of
Shareia was traveling and it was unknown when he would return, and so
would not answer Itzenxilaatls call. Though it certainly demoralized
Itzenxilaatl, rest was inspiring: his work on the Shattered Vessel was
received well, and he was not a disappointment to his lord, as hed
thought before this meeting.
So, Itzenxilaatl went to meet the Conservator. He quickly gathered the
required things, brought them back with him, and went into a
mummification. It was better than remaining a weak mortal. His will was
so strong that he, of course, survived the process. During it,
Itzenxilaatls vessel cracked, though not shattered. Power that was
imprisoned in his body started to shine through cracks in his dried skin,
through the bandages, making a mysterious image of a glowing humanoid
being.
The Becoming, part II: Bliss's Evolution and Phylacterymania
Added Sun Mar 15 16:33:10 2020 at level 51:
His semi-alive pseudo friend, or pseudo son, Bliss, was also affected by
the cracking of his masters vessel. His glass was destroyed, and his
body finally crumbled, but Bliss did survive. Now, though his spirit, his
soul was released, he didnt leave Itzenxilaatl. Instead, hed chosen to
stay in this world and become a ghostly companion to Itzenxilaatl.
Together, with his mother-banshee, they began roaming Thera, looking for
ways to rebuild the Empire.
But, though he had received unbelievable power and eternity by becoming a
mummy, Itzenxilaatl wasnt satisfied. He believed that the mummy path was
a common path and held no mysteries that a true master of Necromancy - a
lich - would possess. His vessel was cracked, but not shattered; he
didnt ascend. So, he decided to keep looking for a way toward further
self-improvement, and for a way to become a lich. This brought an inner
conflict, a kind of mania. He was constantly seeking enemies to murder,
so he required more and more corpses to experiment on - to carve
figurines out of their bodies. He was looking for a way to create a true,
powerful phylacteries that only a most powerful undead, a lich, could
produce. And, even knowing that his attempts were futile, he had to keep
trying.
A Difficult Decision
Added Wed Apr 1 06:58:34 2020 at level 51:
Time was passing. The Emperor, undead artist, and undead scholar, kept his
quest for the Power, which was knowledge. He made many works, he wrote many
books, but it was never enough. But his new project, a 'Book of Luck,' suddenly
met unexpected difficulties, and Itzenxilaatl found himself in a difficult
situation: he had to make a choice.
"You cannot be my scholar and artist of Gaspare at the same time", Ishuli, a
lady of Knowledge told him. "You have to choose. It's simple, just tell Gaspare
that you are my scholar!", and she smiled, as Itzenxilaatl's choice was obvious
to her.
And of course, Itzenxilaatl was awful in poetry. His analytic mind was a mind
of a scholar of knowledge. Indeed, the choice was obvious, but....
"With my deepest respect and gratefulness for your kind offer, I have to
decline," replied Itzenxilaatl. "I write a lot, I collect knowledge, I absorb
it and categorize, but I do it because of my passion for it. I am Gasparian,
and maybe I'm a poor artist, but passion is my way."
Ishuli snorted slightly and left, obviously offended. The Emperor growled - he
had just turned down an opportunity that every mortal would dream about, and
turned down an obvious boost to his power for the sake of what? He wasn't sure.
But he knew he felt that it was the right decision - he would not give up his
way, his passion, no matter how tempting any offers made were.
And, of course, he'd continue his work on the books, now - for the Imperial
Library, as he has planned before.
Game Over
Added Fri Apr 3 07:44:59 2020 at level 51:
Last part of the diary of Itzenxilaatl the Shattered Vessel, Undead Emperor of
Thera that was saved after his disappearing said:
"I don't know why I keep writing those chapters in my diary. Who will read
them? What for? I have no ancestors. Will it find a place in the Imperial
Library that I am seeking to redecorate and to improve? I doubt it. Earlier, it
made sense - to collect my thoughts in case I'll lose myself during Becoming,
but it didn't happen.
Yet, though I've remained sane, I've lost myself. I realised it when I've been
talking to Lord Gaspare. He told me to find the feelings, but since I lost my
mortality, I lost them. I may lie to myself, I may lie to him, but it makes no
sense. This is a dead end, and obviously he sees that I am not one of his
artists. Power that boils within me has replaced, has burned feelings, and
maybe even emotions, though, from time to time, I recall how it was - to feel
pleasure, to feel joy. Now, I feel only a hunger, constant hunger, for more and
more Power. It is my passion, but it is not what he wants from me. Alas, I'm
not a meek bard, or a poet. My art is death; my art is domination. *I* am an
object art by myself, and my whole existence is a performance.
From now on, I'll walk my own path, and I'll create what *I* desire. And maybe
I'll find a feeling of pleasure again, instead of a cold and emotionless
satisfaction.
And yet, I am very disappointed. If I would be a mortal, I would be sad and
depressed, but even these feelings are just an echo, just a far memory of what
I could feel."
Inner Strugles
Added Tue Jun 9 10:05:49 2020 at level 51:
Disappointed by the recent events, being turned down by Gaspare and
proclaimed a Soulless Husk and cursed with bad luck by him, Emperor
Itzenxilaatl finally stepped down from the throne and became a councillor
- an Imperial Dread Lord again, and even further, to the Elite Imperial
Warlock.
If he could be mortal again, he would breathe with relief, but undeath
didnt leave him such a possibility. Instead, in despair and
disappointment, he started to emerge even deeper into darkness, shifting
himself further into a Negative Plane. He was becoming less and less
material, turning into a shadowy being, into almost a wraith. His voice,
already hollow and empty, turned into a distant whisper, barely coming
from the shroud of darkness that surrounded Itzenxilaatl. The further the
ex-Emperor vanished into the void, the closer he became to Bliss and his
dead princess mother, the banshee. He was roaming there, in the Negative
Plane, as a ghost, and no one even noticed him passing by - only shivers
ran down their spines, hair stood on their heads, and dogs scowled and
howled in terror.
Irresistibly, despair was pulling him deeper and deeper into the
darkness, dissolving his body. With his goals lost and failed, his
desire to return to the mortal realm was vanishing, slowly but fatally.
Eventually, he would completely disappear into the darkness - but as a
shattered vessel, he would not vanish: instead, he would become an
eternal entity, a mix of a god and a ghost. This thought was entertaining
and intriguing to Itzenxilaatl.
During his travels through the darkness and shades, surrounded by the
lost souls and ghosts, he finally met the elven banshee mother of Bliss,
and talked to her. Woeful, she revealed to him something that he had
almost forgotten: the necromancer from the long forgotten mortal days of
Itzenxilaatl was, actually, the High Priest of Eil Shareia himself. One
who Itzenxilaatl had met, but hadnt recognized. But why had the High
Priest abandoned Itzenxilaatl and denied him lichdom? Was Itzenxilaatl
just his minor project, nothing of importance, a joke to play? Angered,
Itzenxilaatl decided to make it back to the living, disgusting beings.
This unfair situation must be solved properly, either way.
Betrayal
Added Fri Jul 10 16:16:03 2020 at level 51:
Betrayed. Everything that he was building appeared to be fake.
Anathematized by the fool, by the giant who took the throne that once was
Itzenxilaatls, for a ridiculous reason -- for the absence of
Itzenxilaatl. For something that had been out of Itzenxilaatls control
and something that hed been fighting all this time!
But, though unfair and angering, surprisingly, it gave Itzenxilaatl a new
inspiration. Order of the Empire was not a true order, not a true
civilization that the undead was building. A paper castle so easily
destroyed by the foolishness and cowardice of those who would control it
cant be a true civilization. A true Order is something that would stand
solid no matter what and cant be ruined from inside. A whole council has
chosen the poorest leader, those who gladly bow to the orcs, chaotic
beings, out of fear? Such nonsense! And this is the modern Empire? No,
definitely mortals, driven by their emotions and fear, cant build a true
Order.
Only a true being may build something that will stand forever. Only
someone who has gotten rid of the weakness of feelings, and weakness of
death. Eternal and powerful, and Itzenxilaatl was the one. Hell build a
new order, hell bring his undead, ghostly servants from the darkness and
shadows where he spent the last tens of years examining them and their
nature. Its time to clean the lands of the weak, of those who betrayed
him and showed how weak and unintelligent they are. Hell destroy what
hes built, and beings of the night will be his allies and his new
civilization. Those who respect the true power and understand a true
hierarchy. Hell raise armies of undead, crush the betrayers, and clean
the Empire of the fools.
Itzenxilaatl started to look for new opportunities, for new allies in the
darkness and shadows, for a new army to conquer the world. To build a
real civilization based on true values. Will his search for the better
Order lead him back into the Empire? And will he be successful in
building something truly new there instead of the current, corrupted and
weak society? Will it lead him to the Chasm? Or will he uncover the lost
secrets of the Shadows, or ancient magic of the Masters? Who knows... who
knows.
Revenge
Added Sun Aug 2 09:01:30 2020 at level 51:
Empire; once a great and powerful society, full of intelligent and
talented people, was in ruins. Led by a cowardly fool, Wijara, who was
evading Itzenxilaatl at all costs, it was withering and becoming
something that Itzenxilaatl despised the most - a weak parody, a shade of
what he had once had built. All his efforts were ruined, turned into
nothingness so easily and so quick. There was no memory, no glory, no
fear of the Empire anymore. The weak were accepting those who were even
weaker in fear of the coup and revolution; the strong were removed, cast
out, anathematized. It was a spiral that was leading the Empire to
destruction and nothingness. Watching a once great Empire crumbling,
Itzenxilaatl was disappointed by the lack of stability in it. The Empire
was paying the price for their betrayal, and it was darkly satisfying.
They were nothing without him, without his lead, and, by now, many were
regretting the poor decisions and lead of the current emperor, who didnt
deserve the capital letter in his title.
But power, like water, must flow. It cant be imprisoned, held forever -
it will always leak. This is why the most powerful artifacts, eventually,
become weaker. Power slips through the microscopic cracks in the
imprisoning material and vanishes somewhere far in the cosmic void. And
power that was filling Itzenxilaatl, that was imprisoned in his cracked
vessel, also required a realisation. His eternal desire for knowledge and
for more power demanded him to act. And Itzenxilaatl, based on his
experience in the Shadow Planes, has developed a plan, a new strategy. He
will turn to the demons and nightgaunts, and hell build a better society
than the Empire. A society that is based not on a foolish democracy like
the Empire, where the strongest individuals are being cast out by the
weak, who are always many, no. Hell bring demons and devils, nightgaunts
and shades, nagas and iaspors, and build a new society with a simple
hierarchy: the strongest and most knowledgeable, most powerful, will be
the leaders. Those with the lesser power will be servants, and they will
bow to those who have the higher power. With this army, hell put an end
to the rotting empire that he once built, and clean the world of anyone
who would dare to stand in his way. The Chasm was looking like the most
suitable place to start. At least it was a portal to the shadow planes,
where he could start building his new army to crush his enemies and
punish the betrayers and fools and seal their vessels forever.
The Patchwork Bliss
Added Mon Oct 12 02:59:32 2020 at level 51:
Disappointed in weak and foolish mortals, Itzenxilaatl turned his eyeless
eyes to something that had been with him all these years - to Bliss, his
only true companion. He started to experiment, trying to create a being
that would be more sentient than regular and primitive zombies. But a
more sentient entity required rare and fresh ingredients. Which led
Itzenxilaatl to an interesting discovery: if he cut body parts off fresh
corpses, they would possess more lifeforce. But best were those parts cut
from victims that were alive. He began collecting fresh 'ingredients' and
stitching them with each other using freshly cut veins.
Many, many times he failed, but his zeal for creating a perfect being, a
perfect and sentient undead, kept him focused. Finally, he made
something, a patchwork corpse of a child, made of thousands of pieces. He
imbued it with his dark magic, calling to the ghosts of the dead,
chanting, whispering dark incantations which killed surrounding flowers
and grass, withering them until they died and crumbled into a black dust.
Finally, he said: 'Wake up, Bliss! Wake up, son!'
And then, the patchwork body shuddered and cried, it started to thrash on
the ground, and then became silent. Finally, it stood up, made a few
uncertain steps, and giggled. Soon, there were many, many giggles, and
the darkest joy of two undead reunited. Now, they were an undead father
and his everlasting son, who Itzenxilaatl proclaimed as his prince.
Now they were ready to conquer the world and to build a true society. Not
a weak and corrupted Empire as mortals were trying to settle and failed,
no. It would be a new society, with Chasm in its heart. Led by the Only
True Emperor of Everything, Imperator Itzenxilaatl, his prince, his
adopted son - Bliss, and his dread banshee queen. Demons and devils would
be their officers and nightwalkers their soldiers. And the old, weak, and
corrupt Empire that had been drowned in intrigues and betrayal,
foolishness and ineptness would be destroyed.
Laws of a Shattered Vessel
Added Mon Oct 12 03:31:52 2020 at level 51:
Finally, Itzenxilaatl made it to the Chasm. It had taken many years to
prove lord Morius the Blind his dedication and devotion. He and Bliss and
banshee were hunting imperials and other weaklings relentlessly, bringing
death and destruction to their enemies, shattering their very spirits.
Accompanied by nightwalkers who have admitted his power and who were
serving him now, as planned - they became his soldiers, his heralds of
the new world order. For those who were strong enough to accept
themselves and join his growing army, Itzenxilaatl had developed a set of
laws based on how his new world would operate:
1. Power is everything, and thus, it is the only measure of hierarchy.
The most powerful individual shall rule the world, and those who dare to
disobey or show any disrespect toward him are to be punished.
2. To preserve purity of the society, the strong are to be tested, the
weak to be eliminated. Challenging other individuals serves the purpose
of social evolution. Such labour is to be rewarded.
3. Those who dare to stand in the way of evolution or protect the weak
are to be destroyed, as they are enemies of progress. No cities or laws
of any kind shall protect the weak, and anyone who enforce those fake
laws are to be eliminated.
4. Those who blindly seek to destroy a civilized society and bring
regress to Thera are to be destroyed, for they are standing in the way of
the evolution of mortal individuals and of progress.
5. There should not be any democracy, for it allows those who are weak to
hide behind words, voting processes, intrigues, and bribes which corrupt
the purity of a personal Power. Reputation must be earned and proved by
deeds, not by words and money, and those who attempt to replace Power
with any kind of surrogate are to be cast out and destroyed.
6. Knowledge is power. But knowledge without use is worthless and is an
imitation of the individual evolution. Those who are unable to put their
knowledge to use are to be cast down through the hierarchy and kept as
servants or even slaves until they prove their worth and usefulness.
7. Magical knowledge is to be collected, sorted, and cultivated by all
means, as it allows individuals to overstep their mortal boundaries and
shatter the vessels of their physical bodies, becoming Shattered Vessels
themselves - demi-god entities, the only true mortal rulers of the world.
8. Those who are a Shattered Vessels, or strive to be such are to enforce
those laws and destroy everyone and everything that stands in their way
toward their evolution.
9. Items of Power of those who stand in the way of social and individual
progress are to be confiscated and kept from them until they admit the
power of a Shattered Vessel and bow to them, and swear to serve the
purpose of the only true progress.
Itzenxilaatl wrote a draft of the laws and began bringing them upon the
upcoming reign over the world.
Evolved
Added Mon Oct 12 03:37:41 2020 at level 51:
Itzenxilaatl, the self-proclaimed Emperor of Everything, sat in the Chasm
and observed his surroundings. Soon after he wrote the first set of the
Laws, a small number of young but talented and devoted magicians,
wizards, assassins, and even orcs have followed his beginning. Even
CculGras, Nightwalkers, admitted that the laws were suitable for their
vision of Theras future: they had no doubt that they would take over
Thera, and Itzenxilaatl too. Knowing it, the undead mummy was carefully
dealing with them, controlling them, but never letting them achieve too
much freedom and power. So, he had started his work, building a new
society, a new order, and those who dared to stand in his path were also
following him - as his undead servitors, zombies, and ghosts.
Archmage of Eternal Night stood by, busy with his shadowy experiments, as
usual. Darkness swirled in a bottomless pit that led to the realm of the
Night, homeworld of nightwalkers. This pit was a new favorite toy of
Bliss: he, when he wasnt busy following his mummified master, would
plummet straight into it, traveling to realms so weird and horrible that
a mortal would become insane in the blink of an eye. Yet, for Bliss,
whod spent tens of ages by now in the shadows, in a world that lay
between life and death, those realms were familiar and comfortable, even
enjoyable. He had been collecting different information and knowledge,
rumors and visions, and his master carefully sorted and kept them for
future use.
Itzenxilaatl was reflecting on his past and his present and envisioned
his - and the whole of Theras - future. Hed realized that his passion
for new knowledge hadn't disappeared, but became less important: he had
achieved everything, or almost everything, now. So much work and labour,
so much effort and bloodshed were behind him, and so many accomplishments
achieved almost to the pinnacle of Power. Some things were still
intriguing, some rituals were still a mystery, but overall, he had become
a god-like entity, much more than any other mortal ever had. And now, he
could be proud of himself, of a success, reaching a true state of a
Shattered Vessel.
He stood up, and said quietly but with so much power in his voice that
his words reached both Veils of Hell and Heaven: "I've reached the
horizon of my passion, and now, I'll let it wither and die. I'm proud of
my accomplishments, and I'm to be respected by every single mortal or
Ccul'Gra, and those who refuse to admit my supremacy will be destroyed
and tortured eternally. And yes, Morius, I indulge myself completely, and
woe to those, who dare to stand in my way"!
Archmage glanced at Itzenxilaatl and shivered slightly as a wave of
darkness emitted by the mummy passed through his body, and Bliss's
giggles echoed from the shadows to the halls of the Chasm of Eternal
Night.
Hunting the Hunters
Added Tue Oct 27 04:18:57 2020 at level 51:
Itzenxilaatl became the most famous person across the whole Thera, and
even at some of the other worlds where he had travelled with Bliss.
Everyone was envious of his power and authority, of the fear that he was
spreading, and of his everlasting life. And he was proud of such
acceptance. Even paladins were talking to him with respect and with a
deeply hidden hate that he felt perfectly. Servants of the light, full of
anger, his blind vassals that were in need of teaching and guidance
would become his elite soldiers once their will was finally broken and
darkness had broken through the breaches in the walls of their
dissipating morale.
Some of those fools had even put a reward out for his head -- naive
thinking that the bounty hunters would turn against him. This made
Itzenxilaatl laugh: HE has been controlling all of them. He'd bought the
whole guild long ago, and since then, every hunter had been sponsored by
Itzenxilaatl. But the amount of the reward that those fools put out for
his head was ridiculously low, and the name of Itzenxilaatl was on a
third or fifth row. Angered, the ancient mummy went to Udgaard and
entered the bounty office. He threw a heavy purse on the counter and
demanded to increase the price for his own head up to 300 gold, which was
instantly done. ''Wonderful!'' the Emperor said. ''They will come
straight into my grasp, attracted by the reward, driven by greed. What an
effective way to save my time!'' And, laughing darkly, he left the
building.
Itzenxilaatl grinned hollowly, pleased by his work, and the banshee
woefully cried, and Bliss giggled from the shadows, looking as happy as a
pale, patchwork undead could be (which is not really that much).
A Transcendence of Indulging: Citates of the Great
Added Tue Oct 27 04:48:49 2020 at level 51:
"Realizing the emptiness of inherent existence of the mind is the
fundamental innate mind of clear light, which is the subtlest level of
the mind where all energy and mental processes are withdrawn or dissolved
so that all that appears to the mind is "pure emptiness". Linked to the
creative void, emptiness means that it is a state of complete receptivity
and perfect enlightenment, the merging of the ego with its own essence,
which enlightened call the "absolute emptiness."
- an awakened ghost of the unnamed saint sage.
"Insofar as it is empty of self or of anything pertaining to self: Thus
it is said, Itzenxilaatl, that the world is empty. And the form is
emptiness, emptiness is form. Emptiness is not separate from form, form
is not separate from emptiness. Whatever is form is emptiness, whatever
is emptiness is form." - Feristle the elder monk and master of
meditation.
"Indulging, in its final state, means a perfect acceptance of yourself,
embracing not just your flaws, not just your inner darkness, but also
your weaknesses, such as kindness and altruism. And, when you accept
yourself fully, when your indulgance becomes perfect, all your perks lose
their meaning and sense, and you become free - you become empty,
enlightened."
- Itzenxilaatl Rubrumstell, the Emperor of Emptiness.
"Initially, consciousness is like a blank, white sheet of paper. Over
time, this inner paper forms from everything that goes beyond being here
and now. These are ego and expectations, regrets and hopes, morals and
principles, beliefs and religion, and other pseudo-important matters,
mental garbage of a regular society.
This garbage that we collect, that is so important to us, covers the
initial blankness with letters and drawings. Within this mess, the
appearance of something new, a whole symbol or even a word, will be
almost imperceptible.
But when the sheet is clean, the appearance of even the smallest black
dot is instantly recognized and may be eliminated instantly to keep the
sheet blank and free you of any limitations on the highest state of
consciousness.
But what if the point is white, the same color as the sheet itself? Then
it will remain unrecognised, and, blindly, you will remain assured in
your false purity.
Thus, you should go to the next level and destroy the sheet itself, to
empty your mind completely. Then, in this perfect void, the appearance of
any point, and even the sheet itself, will be instantly noticed.
When the consciousness is pure, wide open, when it is absolutely empty,
when not even the blank sheet exists in your mind - any slightest change
becomes noticeable in the absence of even the background itself. To
become empty means to get rid of it all and follow the path of
liberation, the path of the enlightened, the ascended - the path of
Emptiness."
- Itzenxilaatl Rubrumstell, the Enlightened Emperor of Emptiness.
A Transcendence of Indulging, part II: Studies
Added Tue Oct 27 04:54:50 2020 at level 51:
Studying and perfecting the path of indulging brought Itzenxilaatl to a
discovery that changed everything. The more he'd been acknowledging
himself and accepting himself, the more proud of himself he was becoming.
But since he, an undead, was unable to experience the feelings as mortals
do, this proudness was not a true feeling but a simulation of it. And the
more Itzenxilaatl analyzed it, observed it, the more visible and obvious
this layer of his self-consciousness became. Soon, he could see his own
ego so clearly, as though it had been painted on his bandaged palm. And
it became a guiding thread, a path to freedom that he could never have
imagined earlier. Total, complete, absolute indulging appeared to be a
gateway to enlightenment. A complete and total indulgence of himself, of
all his flaws, of all his strengths, of all pleasures and emotions,
resulted in a revelation of his ego. And, as he'd done to his physical
body centuries ago, he now focused his powers on the destruction of this
part of himself. And once he had evolved, he became empty - and he became
everything.
Freed of the limitations of his ego, indulged to the absolute, he became
perfectly empty. And there, in this new state of consciousness, he found
a vision of the world that must be built. He would bring the best of the
best to the state of consciousness he had reached, through the way of
indulging, to enlightenment, and to the emptiness. Those who fail to
acknowledge and accept themselves, who refuse to indulge, deny
self-improvement, will suffer. Their ego will be forcefully destroyed,
they will be effectively emptied. Or they will die in the process and
free the world for the worthy.
Emperor of Emptiness, part I
Added Tue Nov 3 08:49:16 2020 at level 51:
Based on his newfound philosophy, or religion, or both and nothing,
Itzenxilaatl started to work on the principles of the new world order. Of
the new society which was an evolution of his previous work. Earlier, he
had drafted the laws for it, but now, after reaching his dark and hollow
enlightenment, he realized that laws were not enough. A truly strong
civilization would not survive without core, fundamental principles, and
his state of inner emptiness guided him to the next work, to the
foundation of a pure society, of the Empire of Emptiness and Everything.
Emptiness is an initial stance of the all realms and the whole universe.
Emptiness is absolute in its pristine condition. Emptiness existed before
everything, even before the chaos. It is the origin of everything, and it
IS everything and nothing at the same time. It is a source of unlimited
power, and it is an absolute Order in its perfect condition. Thus,
Emptiness includes everything, as it is the source of everything that
exists in the universe. Those who follow the path of Emptiness will draw
their power from it, from the space of the universe where nothing exists,
where time ceases to flow and dies, crystalized into eternity. From
there, vassals of Emptiness will suck, absorb, and utilize the power of
the void to bring the pure society, a true civilization of the most
powerful individuals, to existence.
On an individual level, everyone is responsible for their lives and for
what they are creating during their lives. Since everyone is living in a
society, those individuals are responsible for what those societies are
becoming. Those who are the wisest realise that they are responsible for
the world in which they are living in, and do not attempt to escape this
responsibility, but accept it and embrace it. Such acceptance of
responsibility requires a true strength of will, for many things that are
not done right, failures, or wrong decisions that often lead to a crisis,
collapse, war, or even a total and final destruction of the society is
also their responsibility. They realize that it is also the result of
everyone, and, especially, of themselves, because they are leaders,
approved or not, of those societies, no matter of their position in the
hierarchy of their society. Those individuals are pure, they are true
leaders, pillars of the Order, and only such leaders may completely and
fully accept and admit their responsibility for everything that is
happening or has happened.
Emperor of Emptiness, part II
Added Tue Nov 3 08:52:35 2020 at level 51:
Because of this, these leaders will not stand idle if they see that
something is going wrong. They will not hide behind others, they will not
allow others to protect and defend them. Instead, they will fight for
their rights and for their beliefs, for the society they are striving to
create. They will not hide behind laws that were designed to protect the
weak, or criminals, or those who oppose an orderly society in any, or
those who are using backdoors in the existing laws and evade a rightful
vengeance by turning law restrictions against enforcers of those laws.
Those who are the most powerful are leaders of the leaders, kings of the
kings, emperors of emperors, they are emperors of everything - and they
are emperors of nothing at the same time. They are the living symbols of
self-admitting, they are godlike examples, etalons of social progress and
its final destination. They will create, maintain, enforce, and rewrite
laws of the pure society, adapting it to the current needs depending on
the global situation worldwide. Once the new laws are released, or old
laws are modified, those laws are to be spread down through the
hierarchy. Sometimes, the new laws may sound odd or controversial, but
from the pinnacle of their power, with the wisdom that the absolute
leaders have collected, they see many things in detail that are
unavailable to the most. Their decisions are final and are to be
supported, and those who do not obey, who do not follow the lead of their
leaders are to be eliminated.
A pure society is made of knots and has a pyramidal structure with only
one, the most powerful individual, the Leader, on top of it. Below are
the individuals who are next in power. They have earned their places in
the hierarchy via their deeds, and they have proved their power. Below
them are less powerful but also pure individuals. They are lower, but
each of them are independent decision makers. They are to enforce the
laws that the Leader releases, but each pure will find his own way to
interpret those laws and choose the most optimal way to enforce them
according to the current situation, which is always unique, without
directly subduing those who are above. In case of conflict, their
disputes are to be solved by force, and even a deathly outcome is valid
and will serve further evolution of the civilization of the pure. Such a
hierarchy, based on power and without a direct abeyance, with
self-responsibility of each pure individual, results in a constant
evolution of the society.
Those who are too weak to accept themselves and responsibility for their
deeds are to be eliminated, for they are weak and they are social
garbage, diluting the purity of society. Pure individuals must constantly
fight not only against such obstacles in the way of creating a perfect
world, but they also must daily and nightly fight the temptation of
easy to admit and accept.
Imperfect Everything
Added Sun Feb 21 06:29:55 2021 at level 51:
Itzenxilaatl was both angered and pleased. Angered because Morius gave what he
had promised to Kithervroy. "But I always want more", he'd said earlier -
exactly those words. "I will reserve your potential for Advisor should you
return to us. Otherwise, I'll string your bones above the Chasm as a warning."
And look - Kithervroy, a scavenger bird, a filthy vulture, Itzenxilatl's tool,
was granted this position! Itzenxilaatl was incredibly disappointed, but he'd
gotten used to that: Gaspare had lied to him, Ishili had lied to him, even
Rahsael had lied to him, and now Morius lied to him as well. So many promises
broken, forgotten in the distant past, that he realized: they possessed their
own weaknesses of immortality, very much like himself. Their memory wasn't
perfect, they weren't perfect, and their promises were worth nothing. It would
be naive to trust them, or to believe that their obligations would be
fulfilled. It was the world that Itzenxilaatl had now, and with Eternal Night,
this would probably change. Nobody would dare to lie to him once he took what
was his and claimed the power of the Eternal Night. He would become as powerful
as they were, even stronger, and he would punish those who had failed him, or
force them to keep their promises.
He had to admit, though, he was slightly entertained by yet another task of
Morius. He had a new challenge, and he liked challenges more than anything
else. This challenge was to get Kithervroy to sacrifice her power, her position
- would she do it? Doubtful. Did she truly care for the Night and the
purification of the society, or did she care only for her own position? Most
likely the latter. What would Itzenxilaatl do in her place? Would he satisfy
the similar request, or shrug it off, holding onto his own power? What would
benefit him more? his personal wellbeing, or empowering the whole Chasm with a
leader who was much more powerful than himself? Who knew, who knew, perhaps the
latter, because the fall of the Eternal Night would grant more power to the
regular scions than a leader's position. This riddle had born a new, almost
forgotten feeling somewhere deep within Itzenxilaatl's empty nature: curiosity.
A feeling. A weakness that he thought he has gotten rid of many centuries ago,
but look - here it was. A flaw, but so very... enjoyable? Bliss laughed, the
sound like tiny bells, circling around his master, his father, obviously
enjoying his weird struggles.
His first true acolyte
Added Sun Feb 21 06:39:58 2021 at level 51:
Itzenxilaatl's thoughts were distracted by Llovris, his newfound acolyte.
Llovris was a talented necromancer who would, maybe, replace Itzenxilaatl in
the Night. Llovris was his true scholar, and to have proven it: he;d just made
a sacrifice to Itzenxilaatl - he'd caught and murdered an imperial priest that
Itzenxilaatl had demanded dead, and his bloody heart was still beating, slowly,
painfully, in Itzenxilaatl's bandaged arms. How many had Itzenxilaatl taught
and showed them the Way? Hundreds, but the closer they were to the Night, the
harder their struggles were. And all, all of them were withered, drained by the
Chasm, dead, unable to step through the shadows. But this Llovris, he was that
one who could make it through. And then, Itzenxilaatl's theory of a natural
selection would be proven to lord Morius. It was how things must develop within
the Chasm, by careful selection, to find true black diamonds amongst worthless
glass pieces.
