Description
This woman appears a picture of sturdiness and poise, as her tall stature,
chin up, and shoulders back, betrays years of training and etiquette. Her
face nearly beams with brightness, her full lips ready to smile at a moments
notice, and her dark eyes sparkle and shine like stars twinkling through a
hazy mist. Her hair is so blonde it it could nearly be considered stark
white, along with a slight tinge to her skin betrays her parentage of at
least a half of the drow. Oddly enough, a single strand of hair the color of
blood red cascades down the right side of her head and is tucked loosely
behind her ear. It drastically sticks out from the rest, so that its
shocking color draws the eye immediately.

The fire of love (pt 1)

The halfbreed was born to the slave woman deep in the bowels of Teth Azeleth.
The mother of the girl was a slave, but not one who was drastically
mistreated. Their master, was a drow with a handicap, a lame vizier, and was
mostly ignored by many of the others of Teth Azeleth. Usually, halfbreed
children were purged immediately, but this girl the vizier allowed to live,
and her mother secreted her away. She was named Ixsharea, or: "hidden
light".
As she grew, her mother dyed the girl's hair a deep red using beets and other
root vegetables to ensure that no one would know their secret, as the girl
almost immediately began growing snow white locks. As she became older, the
vizier made her his cupbearer and she attended him in the presence of others
of society, who continually sneered at the red crested slave. After every
audience, the vizier would gaze upon her with stern eyes, and a stony face,
so that she did not know what his thoughts were, but he never raised a hand
to her in displeasure, and seemed to easily tolerate her.
At night, when her mother would dye her hair before they slept in their
cramped closet, she was told wondrous tales of the world above, where he
mother was raised in a place called Eaststride. She would sleep, with the
tales of the sun, green grass, flowing water, and wind blowing through her
dreams. One day, her mother told her that rumors from other slaves were that
an escape was planned, and her mother was slowly tiring of the continued
darkness and would join them. Ixsharea begged to be taken with, and her
mother agreed, warning her of silence and wariness of speaking about it.
When the day arrived, they both made excuses to be alone, and quietly slipped
off to a secluded cavern to meet with the remainder of those attempting
escape. There were perhaps twenty that set off through the Underdark, but
run ins with the horrors of the place soon caused the group to fracture and
the girl and her mother were soon alone. Unbeknownst to them, when the
slaves were found missing, a party of drow patrollers were sent after them
and were in pursuit. The vizier, finding them gone, joined the patrollers,
but could not keep up due to his affliction.
The patrollers caught up with them just as they could see the twinkling
daylight through a cave entrance sixty yards ahead. Her exhausted mother
spurred Ixsharea forward, and turned to block the party behind them and was
stabbed through with one of their cursed swords, while the lot of them
laughed maniacally. As Ixsharea ran, she looked back to see her mother slump
against the wall of the cavern, her life blood flowing out of her.

Then she saw something she would never forget, each patroller burst into flame,
screaming, flailing, and rolling on the ground trying to put out the magical
flames that had engulfed them. The cavern itself was swathed in firelight,
and through the smoke that billowed through, the vizier limped around the
screaming patrollers until he found the woman pierced through, and knelt
beside her, tears streaming down his face. He had been too late, his magic
could not save her.
Ixsharea crept back, saddened but still afraid, and watched as the vizier
cradled her mother in his arms, and stroked her face with his hand, while
whispering quietly to her. His normally stern features had softened, and
when her last breath was gone, he gently closed her eyes for the final time.
Eventually he look up to where Ixsharea hid, and choked out loudly, "I know
you hear me my daughter, so go!I could not keep her safe, nor can I you,
and more of the kin come from below. I held on too tightly! And now my love
is gone. I will not see you dead, so go! Go! And remember her, and me!"
Questions she wanted to ask welled up inside of her, but the glint of metal
reflecting the flames from the corridor behind where the vizier sat caught
her eye, and she turned and flew toward the cavern entrance. She could only
imagine the crush of the mace upon his skull from the second party of
patrollers that had found him embracing the dead slave, and callously had
dealt with him.
She made it to the surface and wandered nearly two weeks, completely
unfamiliar with the Overside to make sense of much and finally found refuge
in a place called the Dairein settlement. She had feverish dreams for some
time, where she would see the fire reflected in the eyes of her father the
vizier, and wonder how she had only seen his love for her then, and not
before when she bore his cup for years. When she was well, she left the
settlement to understand how she could save others as she had been saved, and
redeem even those that had the darkest of hearts. She had seen what the
power of love could do. Her hair, she stopped completely dying, except for a
small lock, which she dyed red, so that she would remember her mother and
father, reflected in the fire, in their last embrace.
Her goddess

And so it was that Ixsharea came to the guild of the Paladins, first
establishing herself in Galadon, but coming to full tutelage under the
watchful eye of Nicolette in Voralia. Under her guidance, the young girl
learned of the guild and the code, after spending nearly a day meditating by
the waters of Voralia, set off until she had come to the Bathhouse of Rayihn.
There, she met the goddess and petitioned her for guidance to explore the
power of healing and love. Her belief was that there was something inside
all Therans after she had witnessed what was in in her father's eyes, eyes
that had forever been cold until the end. The goddess seemed intrigued, but
also skeptical of the girls faith in others. "You think everyone deserves
love? Because I do not", said the goddess to Ixsharea. Inside she
quivered, but she would not lose her hope in people.
In the Bathhouse that day, Ixsharea received her blessing, and Rayihn a
follower, though much was yet to be taught to the girl of the ways of the
world.
Meeting challenges
Added Sat Jun 23 07:17:41 2012 at level 32:
After this she spent much time wandering Thera, meeting others, and
expressing that they find the love within them and let it free. All she met
provided unique challenges to her: an orc who hid his true nature, a
thoughtful minotaur, a drow intent on proving his worth, a necromancer from
a low upbringing seeking power any way he could, an elf more enamored with
liquor than how others saw him. But where she saw the most challenge came
when she met the Maran.
Tanion was a masterful elf, and deadly, having given his life to the cause of
eradicating evil in the world, and when Ixsharea ventured with Underside to
keep him safe, she saw the holy wrath he dealt to the drow in Teth Azeleth,
the very same ones who had before kept her prisoner. Yet, she was saddened:
how could any of these see the error of their ways when they were punished
first?
After that, she went to the fortress and requested post, as that of scribe.
She would need to join them to make sure that her mission was still clear,
and that the extremism of the Maran were held in check. She could see that
they had large hearts for those that had already accepted the light, but she
needed to bring more into the fold, and her way was not theirs. She would be
a shield and a shepherdess. After speaking with Lamahrya, she took the oath
of the lowly scribe and assumed her duties, promising to tell the fortress of
her creed.
She only hoped that the others would listen.
Ixsharea's creed
Added Sat Jun 23 07:25:23 2012 at level 32:
This is what Ixsharea told the Fortress:
"Every breathing soul on Thera's first moments were those of birth,
where a spark passed between mother and child, and a seed is planted.
That seed is one of love, and we go our whole lives to cultivate it.
Some lucky few, many of those of us within this very Fortress are
lucky enough to have that seed nurtured in us from the very beginning.
Others are not, and though they are taught wicked ways and deeds, even
still, the seed lies, dormant, waiting for water and light to begin to grow.
Some take years, but when they realize that it is the love of
their fellow Therans that anchors them to this earth, then their
seed is free to sprout with love, and their eyes are opened to the
blessings that such light gives them. It is my mission to coax
coax even the deepest of these to the surface of their holders,
to get through to those with even the staunchest refusal that there
is nothing to deny, that everyone has the same connection, and
therefore, coming to the light is inevitable.
My words are not damning, but soothing. My actions are not forceful,
but gentle. A kind word and simple gesture I have seen can melt
the ice from a drow's eyes, and the rage from an orc's maw.
This is how I take my lady Rayihn's words to heart. I am
happy to take words and debate with any as well, for in healthy
discussion are eyes and minds opened."

Hope amid defeat

After joining the Fortress she finally found the way to bring her
message to Thera. Often, she would wander the roads, speaking to those
passers by to plead with them to open their hearts to their fellow
Therans. Many found her odd, even those she knew were deep and dark
sinners were turned off by her message of selflessness.
She found some that did nothing but attack her upon sight.
Orcs she pitied did nothing but leap out at her, striking her without
listening to her. Priests from the Empire strode through the
cities and roads, declaring her message as weakness. Outlanders,
convinced of her ties to her code and lack of freedom, struck
her down with pity. Through it al, she remained resolute, confident
that leading with words before weapons, that exposing her heart to all
would open even those that struck her.
Despite her defeats, she kept hope in her heart and eventually her
lady Raiyhn continued to bless her, and sponsored the hope she brought
to those she preached to. One day, found her blinded, plagued, wasting
away with untold disease, propped up near the altar of the Fortress.
In her dispair, she reached out to the priest that had inflicted her,
Gvilond. She told him, as she lay rotting, that she only wished him
well, and that her message was one of Love.
The Ancient Knight of the fortress heard this, and his heart was melted.
He gave of himself to take on Ixsharea's affliction, and asked her to
become an Acolyte within the Fortress. He thought, as did Ixsharea,
that her preachings of love, was enough of a candle in the dark
night to light passage for even the most lost.
