Description
A hideously deformed creature stands before you, hunched
over and struggling to keep his head from falling. His
face is shallow, grey and lifeless. His skin is pulled
tight across his cheeks, exaggerating his high cheekbones.
A small trail of saliva falls from thin, black lips. Silver,
matted hair scarcely covers his exposed head. It is untidy
and unkept. He is a gruesome, pitiful sight, clothed in a
heavy black robe which seems several sizes too big. Skeletal
fingers protrude from the sleeves, revealing long, jet black
nails. As horrid as he looks, you can't help but feel that
he is still in his youth. What transpired to leave him in
such a state is a harrowing thought.

It takes a weak and hollow man to let failure and rejection
eat away at his soul. Ixtchyl is the owner of such a soul.
He has grown bitter and twisted since the day he had
immortality stripped from within his grasp.
He started out as a slave in the Castle of Barovia but was
quick to progress through the ranks, and it was not long
before he was directly under the Lich. It was then that
he was known 'Keeper of the Dogs', for he was in charge
of the werewolves that protected the castle. However,
there came a time when the Lich came to Ixtchyl with
the offer of immortality. He needed only to drink from a
vial which the Lich had brewed. There was no label, no
warning of the possible side-effects, nothing. And so
from the vial Ixtchyl did drink, and such was the birth of
the Grudge. As he drank, he felt the poison slowly spread
throughout his being, he witnessed his skin change color,
his eyes wept blood. He heard the Lich comment "As I
had expected, my recipe is not yet complete".
Ixtchyl survived, but barely. He immediately left Barovia
not even sure if he was alive or dead, but he knew one
thing for sure and that was the fact that he now holds
a deadly grudge.
