Description
Quickly catching a glance at the figure before you motionless for a brief
instant, his dusty white garments settle about him, concealing him from head
to toe. As the moment passes, so does an eerie feeling, almost like having
been in the eye of a storm - an unnatural stillness. When his movements
finally rustle the robes, they come in a flurry as if to make up for lost
time. Taloned feet are suddenly visible as they propel his body forward. As
his garments struggle to keep up, a lithe, muscular body is revealed, wrapped
tightly in thin strips of cloth which cause each motion to show in dramatic
detail. Moving with a natural grace, even the shorter talons adorning his
hands seem to merely flow through the air. Above his sharp, curved beak, the
golden eyes looking out seem to both embrace death, yet laugh at it, merely
revelling in the moment of life.
Role
Beginnings
Added Mon Feb 2 19:33:32 2004 at level 20:
A native of the southern deserts, Janakt makes his roost among the Red Cliffs
which comprise the western border of Araile. While many find the desolate
sands depressing, and the brutal conditions harsh, Janakt has taken to the
common view of many of his kind, that life is too short as it is to dwell on
the harshness of his home. Instead, he has come to believe in many of the
teachings of the desert goddess Shazirah. However, the desert is still a harsh
mistress, and survival alone has weathered Janakt into a formidable hunter.
With so much time devoted to that basic concept, he has come to use that very
act as the vessel of his spirit, letting his strikes flow from one place to the
next at the guidance of his instinct.
Heartache

...will stalk my dreams forever. The clash of steel and sound of battle heard,
so follow I did. Beautiful to watch, the dance which was found. Until the
spellcasters. Deft parry and strong blows fall prey to lightning from the
empty sky, as ground turns to mud, fire comes to life, bones melt from a word,
and the air freezes in an instant. The sands mangled. A mockery, these spells!
This cannot be, cannot remain. Tales told, one hears, of those who fight
spellcasters. Mayhaps with them, I shall speak. Learn what can be done....
Divine Audience

Having learned all of his guildmaster's teachings, and those of Macalla, Janakt
sought his goddess Shazirah, Lady of the Desert. After searching for a number
of days, he finally found her desert home and she granted him an audience. Of
his Spirit-Song, beauty, stories and memories did they speak. In the end, he
left with a little more wisdom, and with a slightest approval of the goddess.
